| 1 | Studies on thermoresponsive polymers:Phase behaviour,drug delivery and biomedical applications显示文摘The present review aims to highlight the applications of thermoresponsive polymers.Thermo-responsive polymers show a sharp change in properties upon a small or modest change in temperature.This behaviour can be utilized for the preparation of so-called‘smart’drug delivery systems,which mimic biological response behaviour to a certain extent.Such materials are used in the development of several applications,such as drug delivery systems,tissue engineering scaffolds and gene delivery.Advances in this field are particularly relevant to applications in the areas of regenerative medicine and drug delivery.This review addresses summary of the main applications of thermoresponsive polymers which are categorized based on their 3-dimensional structure;hydrogels,interpenetrating networks,micelles,films and particles.The physico-chemical behaviour underlying the phase transition is also discussed in brief. | Arijit Gandhi Abhijit Paul Suma Oommen Sen Kalyan Kumar Sen | 2015 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2015,10,2: | 9 |
| 2 | Polynomial friction pendulum isolators(PFPIs)for seismic performance control of benchmark highway bridge显示文摘The seismic response of a benchmark highway bridge isolated with passive polynomial friction pendulum isolators(PFPIs)is investigated and subjected to six bidirectional ground motion records.The benchmark study is based on a lumped mass finite-element model of the 91/5 highway overcrossing located in Southern California.The PFPI system possesses two important parameters;one is horizontal flexibility and the other is energy absorbing capacity through friction.The evaluation criteria of the benchmark bridge are analyzed considering two parameters,time period of the isolator and coefficient of friction of the isolation surface.The results of the numerical study are compared with those obtained from the traditional friction pendulum system(FPS).Dual design performance of the PFPI system suppressed the displacement and acceleration response of the benchmark highway bridge.The dual design hysteresis loop of the PFPI system is the main advantage over the linear hysteresis loop of the FPS.The numerical result indicates that the seismic performance of the PFPI system is better than that of the traditional FPS isolated system.Further,it is observed that variations of the isolation time period and coefficient of friction of the FPS and PFPI systems have a significant effect on the peak responses of the benchmark highway bridge. | Arijit Saha Pumachandra Saha Sanjaya Kumar Patro | 2017 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2017,16,4: | 3 |
| 3 | Evaluating Fertilization Effects on Soil Physical Properties Using a Soil Quality Index in an Intensive Rice-Wheat Cropping System显示文摘Soil quality assessment has been suggested as an effective tool for evaluating sustainability of soil and crop management practices.The objective of this study was to develop a sensitive soil quality index(SQI) based on bulk density(BD),water-holding capacity(WHC),water-stable aggregates(WSA),aggregate mean weight diameter(AMWD),total organic C(TOC) and C input to evaluate the important rice-wheat cropping system on an Inceptisol in India.A long-term experiment has been conducted for 18 years at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research,Modipuram,India.The treatments selected for this study were comprised of a no-fertilizer control and N,P and K fertilizers(NPK) combined with Zn and S fertilizers(NPK+ Zn+S),farmyard manure(NPK+FYM),green gram residues(NPK+GR) and cereal residues(NPK+CR),laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications.Soil samples were collected and analyzed for BD,WHC,WSA and TOC.Correlation analysis revealed that both rice and wheat yields signi?cantly increased with the increases in AMWD,TOC and C input,but decreased with the increase in BD.The SQI values were then generated based on regression analysis of BD,WSA,AMWD,TOC and C input with rice and wheat yields for the 0–15 and 15–30 cm soil layers,respectively.Regression analyses between crop yields and SQI values showed a quadratic type of relation with the coeffcient of determination(R^2) varying from 0.78 to 0.89.With regard to soil sustainability,applying crop residues to both rice and wheat could maintain soil quality for a longer period,whereas the highest yields of both the crops were recorded in the NPK+Zn+S treatment.The regression equations developed in this study could be used to monitor soil quality in a subhumid tropical rice-wheat cropping system. | Bappa DAS Debashis CHAKRABORTY Vinod Kumar SINGH Mukhtar AHMED Amit Kumar SINGH Arijit BARMAN | 2016 | Pedosphere2016,26,6: | 3 |

| 5 | Isolation and in vivo hep-atoprotective activity of Melothria heterophylla(Lour.) Cogn.against chemically induced liver injuries in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate hepatoprotective activity of ethanol extract of Melothria heterophyila Lour Cogn.(EEMH) against CCl4-induced hepatic damage in rats.Methods:β-sitosterol was isolated by column chromatography and characterized spectroscopically.Two different doses(200 and 400 mg/kg bw) of EEMH were administered orally in alternate days.The hepatoprotective activity was studied in liver by measuring biochemical parameters such as serum aspartate amino transferase(AST),alanine amino transferase(ALT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),total protein and total bilirubin.Lipid peroxidation product and different antioxidant enzyme activities were assessed in liver homogenate.Results:EEMH reduced all biochemical parameters and lipid peroxidation,as well as it increased the antioxidant enzyme activities in comparison with silymarin.The protective effect of the extract on CCl4 induced damage was confirmed by histopathological examination of the liver.Conclusions:This result strongly supports the protective effect of EEMH against acute liver injury,and may be attributed to its antioxidative activity. | Arijit Mondal Tapan Kumar Maity Dilipkumar Pal Santanu Sannigrahi Jagadish Singh | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,8: | 2 |
