| 2 | Sessile serrated adenomas:Demographic,endoscopic and pathological characteristics显示文摘AIM:To study the demographic and endoscopic characteristics of patients with sessile serrated adenoma(SSA) in a single center.METHODS:Patients with SSA were identified by review of the pathology database of Mayo Clinic Arizona from 2005 to 2007.A retrospective chart review was performed to extract data on demographics,polyp characteristics,presence of synchronous adenomatous polyps or cancer,polypectomy methods,and related complications.RESULTS:One hundred and seventy-one(2.9%) of all patients undergoing colonoscopy had a total of 226 SSAs.The mean(SE) size of the SSAs was 8.1(0.4) mm;42% of SSAs were ≤ 5 mm,and 69% were ≤ 9 mm.Fifty-one per cent of SSAs were located in the cecum or ascending colon.Approximately half of the patients had synchronous polyps of other histological types,including hyperplastic and adenomatous polyps.Synchronous adenocarcinoma was present in seven(4%) cases.Ninety-seven percent of polyps were removed by colonoscopy.CONCLUSION:Among patients with colon polyps,2.9% were found to have SSAs.Most of the SSAs were located in the right side and were safely managed by colonoscopy. | Suryakanth R Gurudu Russell I Heigh Giovanni De Petris Evelyn G Heigh Jonathan A Leighton Shabana F Pasha Isaac B Malagon Ananya Das | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，27： | 7 |
| 3 | Quercetin modulates iron homeostasis and iNOS expression of splenic macrophages in a rat model of iron deficiency anemia显示文摘Iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common micronutrient deficient conditions around the globe with various consequences,including the weakened immune system.Quercetin is widely distributed bioflavonoid;it has been debated for its dual roles in iron regulation.Quercetin-iron interaction in the body is a complex mechanism which has not been completely understood.The present study aimed to investigate the effect of quercetin on iron supplementation in iron deficiency anemia and on i NOS expression in splenic macrophages.The rat model of iron deficiency anemia was induced by feeding low iron diet to weanling rats for 20 days.The animals were then administered with ferrous sulfate,quercetin,and their combination for 30 days.Blood parameters,histopathological analysis,iron storage,CD68,i NOS and SLC40 expression in rat spleen were investigated.Our results showed that quercetin regulated iron absorption,despite SLC40 down-expression,indicating possible alternate route of iron transport,and that quercetin modulated i NOS production in splenic macrophages.. | Maryam Mazhar Nurul Kabir Shabana U Simjee | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2018，16，8： | 4 |
| 4 | A review of the role of emerging environmental contaminants in the development of breast cancer in women显示文摘The incidence of breast cancer is on a rise worldwide;it is a disease having a complex etiology.Besides genetics,environmental and other lifestyle factors play a role in the development of the disease.There has been a keen interest in studying associations between breast cancer and exposures to emerging environmental chemicals,which mimic estrogens or influence estrogen levels and signaling in the human body.The common consequence of an endocrine disrupting chemical exposure is that it may have an impact on breast cancer etiology by stimulating formation as well as progression of breast cancer.Exposures to selected emerging environmental contaminants such as alkylphenols(APs),bisphenol A(BPA),parabens,perfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs),phthalates,polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs),synthetic musks and triclosan,and their probable role in breast cancer development are reviewed.Studies evaluated include the experimental in vitro and in vivo studies as well as human population based studies.In vitro and in vivo evidences indicate that a number of emerging environmental contaminants may play a role in the initiation and/or progression of breast cancer.Although exposures have been assessed in some human populations,breast and other cancer risks associated with these exposures are largely unknown.Efforts should be focussed on the evaluation of these environmental exposures in human populations and their interactions with each other and other genetic and lifestyle risk factors. | Shabana Siddique Cariton Kubwabo Shelley AHarris | 2016 | Emerging Contaminants2016，2，4： | 2 |

| 8 | Spot urinary sodium for assessing dietary sodium restriction in cirrhotic ascites显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the accuracy of spot urinary Na/K and Na/creatinine (Cr) ratios as an alternative to 24-h urinary sodium in monitoring dietary compliance in patients with liver cirrhosis and ascites treated with diuretics. METHODS: The study was carried on 40 patients with liver cirrhosis and ascites treated with diuretic therapy. Patients were divided into two groups according to 24-h urinary sodium. We measured spot urine Na/K ratio, Na/ Cr ratio and 24-h urinary sodium. Student's t test was used to compare the interval variables and χ2 test to compare the nominal variables between the two groups. Receiver operator characteristic curve was used to identify the best cutoff point for Na/K and Na/Cr ratio. RESULTS: The best cutoff point for Na/K ratio was 2.5 (P < 0.001) and area under the curve (AUC) was 0.9, and for Na/Cr ratio, the best cutoff point was 35 (P < 0.001) and AUC was 0.885. Na/K ratio showed higher sensitivity and accuracy compared to Na/Cr ratio (87.5% and 87% for Na/K ratio; 81% and 85% for Na/Cr ratio, respectively).
