| 4 | Two strategies for prevention of cytomegalovirus infections after liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To analyze differences in patients' clinical course, we compared two regimes of either preemptive therapy or prophylaxis after liver transplantation.METHODS: This retrospective study was reviewed and approved by the institutional review board of the University of Leipzig. Cytomegalovirus(CMV) prophylaxis with valganciclovir hydrochloride for liver transplant recipients was replaced by a preemptive strategy in October 2009. We retrospectively compared liver transplant recipients 2 years before and after October 2009. During the first period, all patients received valganciclovir daily. During the second period all patients included in the analysis were treated following a preemptive strategy. Outcomes included one year survival and therapeutic intervention due to CMV viremia or infection.RESULTS: Between 2007 and 2010 n = 226 patients underwent liver transplantation in our center. n = 55 patients were D^+/R^- high risk recipients and were excluded from further analysis. A further 43 patients had to be excluded since CMV prophylaxis/preemptive strategy was not followed although there was no clinical reason for the deviation. Of the remaining 128 patients whose data were analyzed, 60 receivedprophylaxis and 68 were treated following a preemptive strategy. The difference in overall mortality was not significant, nor was it significant for one-year mortality where it was 10%(95%CI: 8%-28%, P = 0.31) higher for the preemptive group. No significant differences in blood count abnormalities or the incidence of sepsis and infections were observed other than CMV. In total, 19 patients(14.7%) received ganciclovir due to CMV viremia and/or infections. | 5 | Adding memory to pressure-sensitive phosphors显示文摘Mechanoluminescence(ML)is the phenomenon describing the emission of light during mechanical action on a solid,leading to applications such as pressure sensing,damage detection and visualization of stress distributions.In most cases,this mechanical action releases energy that was previously stored in the crystal lattice of the phosphor by means of trapped charge carriers.A drawback is the need to record the ML emission during a pressure event.In this work,we provide a method for adding a memory function to these pressure-sensitive phosphors,allowing an optical readout of the location and intensity of a pressure event in excess of 72 h after the event.This is achieved in the BaSi_(2)O_(2)N_(2):Eu^(2+) phosphor,where a broad trap depth distribution essential for the process is present.By merging optically stimulated luminescence(OSL),thermoluminescence(TL)and ML measurements,the influence of light,heat and pressure on the trap depth distribution is carefully analysed.This analysis demonstrates that mechanical action can not only lead to direct light emission but also to a reshuffling of trap occupations.This memory effect not only is expected to lead to new pressure sensing applications but also offers an approach to study charge carrier transitions in energy storage phosphors. | Robin R.Petit Simon E.Michels Ang Feng Philippe F.Smet | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019，8，1： | 5 |

| 8 | Impact of remote ischemic preconditioning on wound healing in small bowel anastomoses显示文摘AIM: To investigate the influence of remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) on anastomotic integrity. METHODS: Sixty male Wistar rats were randomized to six groups. The control group (n = 10) had an end-to-end ileal anastomosis without RIPC. The preconditioned groups (n = 34) varied in time of ischemia and time of reperfusion. One group received the amino acid L-arginine before constructing the anastomosis (n = 9). On postoperative day 4, the rats were re-laparotomized, and bursting pressure, hydroxyproline concentration, intra-abdominal adhesions, and a histological score concerning the mucosal ischemic injury were collected. The data are given as median (range).RESULTS: On postoperative day 4, median bursting pressure was 124 mmHg (60-146 mmHg) in the control group. The experimental groups did not show a statistically significant difference (P > 0.05). Regarding the hydroxyproline concentration, we did not find any significant variation in the experimental groups. We detected significantly less mucosal injury in the RIPC groups. Furthermore, we assessed more extensive intra-abdominal adhesions in the preconditioned groups than in the control group. | 14 | What is truth:Consensus and discordance in next-generation phylogenetic analyses of Daucus显示文摘High-throughput(next-generation)DNA sequencing has removed barriers to data quantity and quality,and it has produced phylogenies with high statistical support.Such data are useful to address phylogenetic congruence among individual genes.Concatenated analyses of unlinked genes often produce well-resolved phylogenetic trees with bootstrap support on major nodes at or approaching 100%,but they have been criticized for providing incorrect phylogenies for various reasons to include a history of hybridization,introgression,and incomplete lineage sorting.The present study compares next-generation sequencing results of the same accessions of Daucus with different genomic regions,of which three have been reported before:(i)the entire plastid genome,(ii)47 mitochondrial genes,and(iii)94 conserved nuclear orthologs.Here,we report a fourth dataset,(iv)564895 nuclear SNPs.There are areas of discordance in all four results using the same accessions analyzed with maximum parsimony,maximum likelihood,and with the nuclear data species trees through a coalescent analysis.The nuclear results show significant areas of discordance that were unexpected,because these studies used the same DNA samples,the nuclear studies were generated from large and high-quality datasets with the SNPs distributed on all nine linkage groups of Daucus carota,and the results were supported by high bootstrap values.These results raise questions concerning the best data and analytical methods to reconstruct and understand the“truth”of a phylogeny. | David M.Spooner Holly Ruess Shelby Ellison Douglas Senalik Philipp Simon | 2020 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020，58，6： | 1 |
