1Prediction of cervical lymph node metastases in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma by sonographic features of the primary site显示文摘Objective: To study the sonographic features of the primary site of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC) for the prediction of cervical lymph node metastasis during preoperative diagnosis.Methods: A total of 710 PTMC patients between 2013 and 2016 with a diagnosis of cervical lymph node metastases were reviewed.We analyzed the sonographic features of the PTMC primary site to predict ipsilateral or central lymph node metastases in univariate and multivariate models.The ratio of abutment/perimeter of the PTMC primary site was utilized to evaluate cervical lymph node status.Results: Regarding clinical characteristics, multifocality and extrathyroidal extension were associated with cervical lymph node involvement.In the multivariate regression model, calcification and the abutment/perimeter ratio of lesions were evaluated as independent factors in level Ⅵ, ipsilateral or skip cervical lymph node metastases.The cut-off value of the ratio of abutment/perimeter of the PTMC primary site(25%) was significantly correlated with cervical lymph node metastases(P = 0.000).Conclusions: Independent sonographic features, including lesion size, lesion location, calcification, and the ratio of abutment/perimeter of the primary site, were associated with cervical lymph node metastases in PTMC patients.Xi Wei Meng Wang Xiaoqing Wang Xiangqian Zheng Ying Li Yi Pan Yueguo Li Jiali Mu Yang Yu Dapeng Li Ming Gao Sheng Zhang 2019Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,3:22

4Soil Erosion Changes over the Past Five Decades in the Red Soil Region of Southern China显示文摘This paper reports the dynamic changes of soil and water loss in the red soil region of Southern China since the 1950s. The red soil region covers eight provinces: Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Hainan. From the 1950s to 1986, the annual rate of soil erosion increased by 3.4%. From 1986 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2000, the annual rates of soil erosion decreased by 2.0% and 0.32%, respectively. Field surveys showed that from 2000 to 2005, the area of soil and water loss decreased annually by 1.2%. This decrease was a result of large-scale erosion control activities across China. Although the eroded soil has been restored, the restoration process is very slow and full restoration will take a long time. 5Indian Ocean temperature dipole and SSTA in the equatorial Pacific Ocean显示文摘The observed sea surface temperature (SST) data of recent 100 years are analyzed and the existence of the Indian Ocean temperature dipole in the equatorial region is exposed further. It is very clear that the amplitude of the positive phase (higher SST in the west and lower SST in the east than normal) is larger than that of the negative phase (higher SST in the east and lower SST in the west). The di-pole is stronger in September-November and weaker in January-April than in other months and it also appears obviously inter-annual and inter-decadal variations. Al-though the Indian Ocean dipole in the individual year seems to be independent of ENSO in the equatorial Pacific Ocean, in general, the Indian Ocean dipole has obviously negative correlation with the Pacific Ocean dipole (similar to the in-verse phase of ENSO mode). 6Development and validation of a prediction model for microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Microvascular invasion(MVI)is an important prognostic factor affecting early recurrence and overall survival in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients after hepatectomy and liver transplantation,but it can be determined only in surgical specimens.Accurate preoperative prediction of MVI is conducive to clinical decisions.AIM To develop and validate a preoperative prediction model for MVI in patients with HCC.METHODS Data from 454 patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between May 2016 and October 2019 were retrospectively collected.Then,the patients were nonrandomly split into a training cohort and a validation cohort.Logistic regression analysis was used to identify variables significantly associated with MVI that were then included in the nomogram.We evaluated the discrimination and calibration ability of the nomogram by using R software.RESULTS MVI was confirmed in 209(46.0%)patients by a pathological examination.Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified four risk factors independently associated with MVI:Tumor size[odds ratio(OR)=1.195;95%confidence interval(CI):1.107–1.290;P<0.001],number of tumors(OR=4.441;95%CI:2.112–9.341;P<0.001),neutrophils(OR=1.714;95%CI:1.036–2.836;P=0.036),and serumα-fetoprotein(20–400 ng/mL,OR=1.955;95%CI:1.055–3.624;P=0.033;>400 ng/mL,OR=3.476;95%CI:1.950–6.195;P<0.001).The concordance index was 0.79(95%CI:0.74–0.84)and 0.81(95%CI:0.74–0.89)in the training and validation cohorts,respectively.The calibration curves showed good agreement between the predicted risk by the nomogram and real outcomes.CONCLUSION We have developed and validated a preoperative prediction model for MVI in patients with HCC.The model could aid physicians in clinical treatment decision making.Lin Wang Yue-Xinzi Jin Ya-Zhou Ji Yuan Mu Shi-Chang Zhang Shi-Yang Pan 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,14:12

10Mechanochemical synthesis and high-capacity performances of transition-metal borides as aqueous anode materials显示文摘Transition-metal borides MB0.5(M = Co,Mo,V) were synthesized by high-speed mechanical ball-milling of the corresponding elemental metals and boron,and investigated as aqueous anode materials.The as-synthesized borides can achieve an excellent discharge capacity,about twice that of their parent transition metals.The metal boride electrodes also exhibit polarizations about 100-300 mV lower than those of their parent metals.The galvanostatic discharge curve of CoB0.5 shows a single discharge voltage plateau as a result of simultaneous electro-oxidation of elemental cobalt and/or amorphous cobalt boride.Both MoB0.5 and VB0.5 show two well-defined voltage plateaus,corresponding to the electro-oxidation of the corresponding metal and boride.These results show that the coexisting transition metal and boride in the metal borides co-activate each other in the ball-milling process,thereby significantly enhancing their electrochemical performances.WANG YaDong GUANG XianYong PAN Mu 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,32:5

14Substantial transition to clean household energy mix in rural China显示文摘The household energy mix has significant impacts on human health and climate,as it contributes greatly to many health-and climate-relevant air pollutants.Compared to the well-established urban energy statistical system,the rural household energy statistical system is incomplete and is often associated with high biases.Via a nationwide investigation,this study revealed high contributions to energy supply from coal and biomass fuels in the rural household energy sector,while electricity comprised∼20%.Stacking(the use of multiple sources of energy)is significant,and the average number of energy types was 2.8 per household.Compared to 2012,the consumption of biomass and coals in 2017 decreased by 45%and 12%,respectively,while the gas consumption amount increased by 204%.Increased gas and decreased coal consumptions were mainly in cooking,while decreased biomass was in both cooking(41%)and heating(59%).The time-sharing fraction of electricity and gases(E&G)for daily cooking grew,reaching 69%in 2017,but for space heating,traditional solid fuels were still dominant,with the national average shared fraction of E&G being only 20%.The non-uniform spatial distribution and the non-linear increase in the fraction of E&G indicated challenges to achieving universal access to modern cooking energy by 2030,particularly in less-developed rural and mountainous areas.In some non-typical heating zones,the increased share of E&G for heating was significant and largely driven by income growth,but in typical heating zones,the time-sharing fraction was<5%and was not significantly increased,except in areas with policy intervention.The intervention policy not only led to dramatic increases in the clean energy fraction for heating but also accelerated the clean cooking transition.Higher income,higher education,younger age,less energy/stove stacking and smaller family size positively impacted the clean energy transition.Guofeng Shen Rui Xiong Yanlin Tian Zhihan Luo Bahabaike Jiangtulu Wenjun Meng Wei Du Jing Meng Yuanchen Chen Bing Xue Bin Wang Yonghong Duan Jia Duo Fenggui Fan Lei Huang Tianzhen Ju Fenggui Liu Shunxin Li Xianli Liu Yungui Li Mu Wang Ying Nan Bo Pan Yanfang Pan Lizhi Wang Eddy Zeng Chao Zhan Yilin Chen Huizhong Shen Hefa Cheng Shu Tao 2022National Science Review2022,9,7:4

17Effects of antioxidants on homocysteine thiolactone-induced apoptosis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells显示文摘Background and objectives Hyperhomocysteinemia is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Homocysteine thiolactone (HcyT), one of the homocysteine metabolites in vivo, is toxic both in vivo and in vitro. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of HcyT on apoptotic damage in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and the role of antioxidants in the reduction of HcyT-induced apoptosis. Methods HUVECs were cultured in DMEM supplemented with 20% heat inactivated fetal bovine serum cell cultures were maintained in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere at 37 ℃. Cytotoxicity was determined by MTT assay,which consists of hypodiploid cells with propidium iodide labeling and intracellular reactive oxygen species levels using 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein diacetate as the probe by flow cytometry. Results HcyT (250-2000μM) induced HUVECs apoptosis in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. Reactive oxygen species levels rose in response to increasing HcyT concentrations at 24-h incubation.The reduction of cell apoptosis by N-acetylcysteine, vitamin E, or pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate, occurred simultaneously with a significant decrease in intracellular reactive oxygen species levels. Conclusion HcyT exerts its cytotoxic effects on endothelial cells through an apoptotic mechanism involving cellular reactive oxygen species production. The capacity of N-acetylcysteine, vitamin E, and pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate to scavenge HcyT-induced cellular reactive oxygen species correlates well with their efficiency to protect against HcyT-promoted apoptotic damage. 19SC-IrO_2 NR-carbon hybrid:A catalyst with high electrochemical stability for oxygen reduction显示文摘The enhanced electrochemical stability of the synthesized hybrid catalyst has been demonstrated by the introduction of the synergistic effect between carbon powder additive and the prepared catalyst.Single crystal IrO 2 nanorod (SC-IrO 2 NR) catalyst was prepared by a sol-gel method.The structure and performance of the catalyst sample were characterized by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM),transmission electron microscope (TEM),rotating disk electrode (RDE) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements.XRD patterns and TEM images indicate that the catalyst sample has a rutile IrO 2 single crystal nanorod structure.The onset potential for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) of the SC-IrO 2 NR-carbon hybrid catalyst specimen is 0.75 V (vs.RHE) in RDE measurement.CV and RDE test results show that the SC-IrO 2 NR-carbon hybrid catalyst has a better electrochemical stability in comparison with the commercial Pt/C catalyst,with attenuation ratios of 17.67% and 44.60% for the SC-IrO 2 NR-carbon hybrid catalyst and the commercial Pt/C catalyst after 1500 cycles,respectively.Therefore,in terms of stability,the SC-IrO 2 NR-carbon hybrid catalyst has a promising potential in the application of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell.WANG GuangJin CHENG Feng YU Yi LIANG Cong XU Tian PAN Mu 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,1:3
20Discovery of a novel 112-type iron-pnictide and La-doping induced superconductivity in Eu_(1-x)La_xFeAs_2(x=0–0.15)显示文摘We report the discovery and characterization of a novel 112-type iron pnictide Eu Fe As_2, with La-doping induced superconductivity in a series of Eu_(1-x)La_xFeAs_2. The polycrystalline samples were synthesized through solid state reaction method only within a very narrow temperature window around 1073 K.Small single crystals were also grown from a flux method with the size about 100 lm. The crystal structure was identified by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis as a monoclinic structure with space group of P21/m. From resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, we found that the parent compound Eu Fe As_2 shows distinct anomalies probably due to the Fe^(2+) related antiferromagnetic/structural phase transition near 110 K and the Eu^(2+) related antiferromagnetic phase transition near 40 K.La-doping suppressed both phase transitions to lower temperatures and induced superconducting transitions with a Tc^11 K for Eu_(0.85)La_(0.15) Fe As_2.Jia Yu Tong Liu Bo-Jin Pan Bin-Bin Ruan Xiao-Chuan Wang Qing-Ge Mu Kang Zhao Gen-Fu Chen Zhi-An Ren 2017Science Bulletin2017,62,3:3
