| 1 | Efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy and surgical rescue for locally advanced hepatoblastomas:10 year single-center experience and literature review显示文摘AIM:To report our experience with long-term outcomes after multimodal management therapy.METHODS:An observational retrospective study was performed containing seven patients with hepatoblastoma(Hbl)treated in our institution,a tertiary referral center,from 2003 to 2011.Demographic,preoperative,surgical,and outcome variables were collected.A survival analysis and a review of the current literature related to combination neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgical resection on Hbl were performed.RESULTS:The median age at surgery was 14.4 mo,with a male to female ratio of 4:3.Pretext staging at diagnosis was as follows:stageⅠ,4 cases;stageⅡ,2 patients;and stageⅢ,1 case.Mean pretreatment tumor volume was 735 cm3.Five out of seven patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy according to SIOPEL-3 or SIOPEL-6 protocols.Tumor volume and alphafetoprotein levels significantly dropped after neoadjuvant therapy.Surgical procedures performed included hemihepatectomies,segmentectomies and atypical resection.All patients received chemotherapy after surgery.Median postoperative hospital stay was 8 d.All patients were alive and disease-free after a median follow-up period of 23 mo.With regards to the literature review,seventeen articles were found that were related to our search.CONCLUSION:Our series shows how multimodal management of Hbl,exhaustive control and a meticulous surgical approach leads to almost 100%complete resection with optimal postoperative results. | Dolores Ayllon Teran Oscar Gómez Beltran Rubén Ciria Bru Elena Mateos González María José Pea Rosa Antonio Luque Molina Pedro López Cillero Javier Briceo Delgado | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，29： | 12 |

| 3 | Reinterpretation of histology of proximal colon polyps called hyperplastic in 2001显示文摘AIM: To evaluate how proximal colon polyps interpreted as hyperplastic polyps in 2001 would be interpreted by expert pathologists in 2007. METHODS: Forty consecutive proximal colon polyps ≥ 5 mm in size, removed in 2001, and originally interpreted as hyperplastic polyps by general pathologists at Indiana University, were reviewed in 2007 by 3 GI pathologists. RESULTS: The gastrointestinal (GI) pathologists interpreted 85%, 43% and 30% of the polyps as sessile serrated polyps (sessile serrated adenomas). The overall Kappa was 0.16. When diagnoses were compared in pairs, Kappa values were 0.38 and 0.25 (fair agreement) and 0.14 (slight agreement). | 4 | Hepatitis B infection among adults in the philippines:A national seroprevalence study显示文摘AIM:To determine the prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)seropositivity among adult Filipinos.METHODS:Testing for HBsAg was performed on serum samples from persons aged ≥ 20 years old who participated in the National Nutrition and Health Survey(NNHeS)conducted in 2003.Information on age,sex,marital status,educational attainment,employment status,and income were collected.For this study,marital status was classified as never married or otherwise(i.e.,married,divorced,separated,widowed);educational attainment was classified as high school graduate or below or at least some tertiary education;and employment status was classified as currently employed or currently unemployed.Annual income was divided into 4 quartiles in Philippine pesos(PhP):Q1,≤ PhP 53064;Q2,PhP 53065-92192;Q3,PhP 92193-173387;and Q4,≥ PhP 173388.Prevalence estimates were weighted so that they represented the general population.Social and demographic factors were correlated with HBsAg seropositivity.Multivariate analysis was used to determine independent predictors of HBsAg seropositivity.RESULTS:A total of 2150 randomly selected adults,20 years and over,out of the 4753 adult participants of NNHeS were tested for HBsAg.The HBsAg seroprevalence was 16.7%(95%CI:14.3%-19.1%),which corresponded to an estimated 7278968 persons infected with hepatitis B.There was no significant difference between males and females(17.5% vs 16.0%;P = 0.555).This corresponded to an estimated 3721775 men and 3557193 women infected with hepatitis B.The HBsAg seroprevalence peaked at age 20-39 years old,with declining prevalence in the older age groups.The only independent predictor of HBsAg seropositivity was the annual income,with persons in the highest income quartile being less likely to be HBsAg positive(age-adjusted OR = 0.51;95%CI:0.30-0.86)compared to subjects in the lowest income quartile.Sex,marital status,educational attainment,and employment status were not found to be independent predictors of HBsAg seropositivity.CONCLUSION:The high HBsAg seroprevalence among adults in the Philippines classifies the country as hyperendemic for HBV infection and appears unchanged over the last few decades. | Stephen N Wong Janus P Ong Madalinee Eternity D Labio Oscar T Cabahug Maria Lourdes O Daez Erlinda V Valdellon Jose D Sollano Jr Marilyn O Arguillas | 2013 | World Journal of Hepatology2013，5，4： | 3 |
| 5 | Superplasticity of a friction stir processed overaged WE54 magnesium alloy显示文摘The coarse-grained WE54 magnesium alloy was heat treated in order to have minimum hardness minimizing the effects of precipitates and solid solution. Friction stir processing(FSP) was applied in severe conditions to obtain fine, equiaxed and highly misoriented grains, with grain sizes even less than 1 μm. The high severity of processing demonstrated to have a strong impact in the microstructure. Consequently,the processed materials exhibited excellent superplasticity at the high strain rate 10^(-2)s^(-1), and temperatures between 300 and 400 ℃. The maximum tensile superplastic elongation of 756% was achieved at 400 ℃ thanks to the operation of grain boundary sliding mechanism(GBS). Besides the new data obtained through tensile testing, the paper deals with a transcendental question regarding the large differences in strain rate values at a given stress in the superplastic regime at maximum elongation compared to other magnesium-based alloys. With this is mind, 19 magnesium alloys from 22 different investigations were analyzed to give some light to this behavior that never was treated before.
