| 3 | Stable isotope paleohydrology and chemostratigraphy of the Albian Wayan Formation from the wedge-top depozone,North American Western Interior Basin显示文摘Understanding of the role of atmospheric moisture and heat transport in the climate system of the Cretaceous greenhouse world represents a major challenge in Earth system science.Stable isotopic paleohydrologic data from mid-Cretaceous paleosols in North America,from paleoequatorial to paleoArctic latitudes,have been used to constrain the oxygen isotope mass balance of the Albian hydrologic cycle.Over the range from 40°-50°N paleolatitude,sideritic paleosols predominate,indicating paleoenvironments with positive precipitation-evaporation(P-E)balances.Local exceptions occur on leeward side of the Sevier Orogen,where calcic paleosols in the wedge-top depozone record paleoenvironments with negative P-E balances in the orographic rain shadow.Stratigraphic sections in the Wayan Formation of Idaho(WF)were sampled from the wedge-top depozone.The units consist of stacked m-scale mudstone paleosols separated by m-scale sandstone-siltstone beds.Sections were sampled for organic carbon isotope profiles,and B-horizons from 6 well-developed paleosols were sampled for detrital zircons to determine maximum depositional ages.The first of these from the WF has produced a U-Pb concordia age of 101.0±1.1 Ma.This same WF section has produced a stratigraphic trend of upwardly decreasingδ^(13)C values ranging from-24‰upwards to-27‰VPDB,suggesting correlation to the late Albian C15 C-isotope segment.Pedogenic carbonates from the WF principally consist of micritic calcite,with carbon-oxygen isotope values that array along meteoric calcite lines(MCLs)withδ^(18)O values that range from-9.47‰up to-8.39‰VPDB.At approximately 42°N paleolatitude,these MCL values produce calculated paleoprecipitation values of-8.12‰to-7.04‰VSMOW,a range that is consistent with the estimates produced from other proxies at the same paleolatitudes across North America.These results indicate that despite the orographic rain shadow effect,the processes of meridional atmospheric moisture transport in this locale were similar to those in more humid mid-latitude paleoenvironments elsewhere in the continent. | Jeffrey B.ROSS Greg A.LUDVIGSON Andreas MOLLER Luis A.GONZALEZ J.D.WALKER | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,1: | 7 |

| 5 | Insights into triterpene synthesis and unsaturated fatty-acid accumulation provided by chromosomallevel genome analysis of Akebia trifoliata subsp . australis显示文摘Akebia trifoliata subsp.australis is a well-known medicinal and potential woody oil plant in China.The limited genetic information available for A.trifoliata subsp.australis has hindered its exploitation.Here,a high-quality chromosomelevel genome sequence of A.trifoliata subsp.australis is reported.The de novo genome assembly of 682.14 Mb was generated with a scaffold N50 of 43.11 Mb.The genome includes 25,598 protein-coding genes,and 71.18%(485.55 Mb)of the assembled sequences were identi fi ed as repetitive sequences.An ongoing massive burst of long terminal repeat(LTR)insertions,which occurred~1.0 million years ago,has contributed a large proportion of LTRs in the genome of A.trifoliata subsp.australis.Phylogenetic analysis shows that A.trifoliata subsp.australis is closely related to Aquilegia coerulea and forms a clade with Papaver somniferum and Nelumbo nucifera,which supports the well-established hypothesis of a close relationship between basal eudicot species.The expansion of UDP-glucoronosyl and UDP-glucosyl transferase gene families and fi-amyrin synthase-like genes and the exclusive contraction of terpene synthase gene families may be responsible for the abundant oleanane-type triterpenoids in A.trifoliata subsp.australis.Furthermore,the acyl-ACP desaturase gene family,including 12 stearoyl-acyl-carrier protein desaturase(SAD)genes,has expanded exclusively.A combined transcriptome and fatty-acid analysis of seeds at fi ve developmental stages revealed that homologs of SADs,acyl-lipid desaturase omega fatty acid desaturases(FADs),and oleosins were highly expressed,consistent with the rapid increase in the content of fatty acids,especially unsaturated fatty acids.The genomic sequences of A.trifoliata subsp.australis will be a valuable resource for comparative genomic analyses and molecular breeding. | Hui Huang Juan Liang Qi Tan Linfeng Ou Xiaolin Li Caihong Zhong Huilin Huang Ian Max Moller Xianjin Wu Songquan Song | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 5 |

| 7 | Aging and menopause reprogram osteoclast precursors for aggressive bone resorption显示文摘Women gradually lose bone from the age of〜35 years,but around menopause,the rate of bone loss escalates due to increasing bone resorption and decreasing bone formation levels,rendering these individuals more prone to developing osteoporosis.The increased osteoclast activity has been linked to a reduced estrogen level and other hormonal changes.However,it is unclear whether intrinsic changes in osteoclast precursors around menopause can also explain the increased osteoclast activity.Therefore,we set up a protocol in which CD14f blood monocytes were isolated from 49 female donors(40-66 years old).Cells were differentiated into osteoclasts,and data on differentiation and resorption activity were collected.Using multiple linear regression analyses combining in vitro and in vivo data,we found the following:(1)age and menopausal status correlate with aggressive osteoclastic bone resorption in vitro;(2)the type I procollagen N-terminal propeptide level in vivo inversely correlates with osteoclast resorption activity in vitro;(3)the protein level of mature cathepsin K in osteoclasts in vitro increases with age and menopause;and(4)the promoter of the gene encoding the dendritic cell-specific transmembrane protein is less methylated with age.We conclude that monocytes are'reprogrammed'in vivo,allowing them to'remember'age,the menopausal status,and the bone formation status in vitro,resulting in more aggressive osteoclasts.Our discovery suggests that this may be mediated through DNA methylation.We suggest that this may have clinical implications and could contribute to understanding individual differences in age-and menopause-induced bone loss. | Anais Marie Julie Moller Jean-Marie Delaisse Jacob Bastholm Olesen Jonna Skov Madsen Luisa Matos Canto Troels Bechmann Silvia Regina Rogatto Kent Soe | 2020 | Bone Research2020,8,3: | 4 |

| 10 | Development of a 100 J,10 Hz laser for compression experiments at the High Energy Density instrument at the European XFEL显示文摘In this paper we review the design and development of a 100 J, 10 Hz nanosecond pulsed laser, codenamed DiPOLE100 X,being built at the Central Laser Facility(CLF). This 1 kW average power diode-pumped solid-state laser(DPSSL) is based on a master oscillator power amplifier(MOPA) design, which includes two cryogenic gas cooled amplifier stages based on DiPOLE multi-slab ceramic Yb:YAG amplifier technology developed at the CLF. The laser will produce pulses between 2 and 15 ns in duration with precise, arbitrarily selectable shapes, at pulse repetition rates up to 10 Hz, allowing real-time shape optimization for compression experiments. | 20 | Annual spatio-temporal migration patterns of Hooded Cranes wintering in Izumi based on satellite tracking and their implications for conservation显示文摘Background: The Hooded Crane(Grus monacha) is listed as a vulnerable species by IUCN. Knowledge about the migration of the Hooded Crane is still limited. Here we reported the spatio-temporal migration patterns of Hooded Cranes wintering in Izumi, Japan, as well as important stopover areas for their conservation.Methods: Four adult and five subadult cranes, all wintering in Izumi, Japan, were fitted with satellite transmitters(GPS–GSM system) at their stopover sites in northeastern China in 2014 and 2015. We analyzed the time and duration of adults and subadults in spring and autumn migration, as well as the time and duration they stayed in breeding and wintering ground. In addition, we analyzed the land use of the cranes in stopover areas.Results: Adult cranes took much longer time to migrate both north in spring(mean days) compared with subadult cranes(15.3 and 5.2 days, respectively). H= 44.3 days) and south in fall(mean = 54.0 owever, the subadults had longer wintering(mean = 149.8 days) and nomadic(breeding season for adults) seasons(mean d with adults(133.8 and 122.3 days, respectively). Three important stopover areas have been= 196.8 days) compare identified: the region around Muraviovka Park in Russia, the Songnen Plain in China, and the west coast of South Korea, where cranes spent most of their migration time(62.2 and 85.7% in spring and autumn, respectively). During migration, nomadic period and winter, Hooded Cranes usually stay in croplands for resting and feeding.
