2Association of autoimmune type atrophic corpus gastritis with Helicobacter pylori infection显示文摘AIM:To study the association between Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection and autoimmune type atrophic gastritis. METHODS:Twenty-three patients with different grades of atrophic gastritis were analysed using enzyme immunoassay-based serology,immunoblot-based serology,and histology to reveal a past or a present H.pylori infection.In addition,serum markers for gastric atrophy(pepsinogenⅠ,pepsinogenⅠ/Ⅱand gastrin)and autoimmunity[parietal cell antibodies(PCA), and intrinsic factor(IF),antibodies]were determined. RESULTS:Of the 14 patients with severe gastricatrophy,as demonstrated by histology and serum markers,and no evidence for an ongoing H.pylori infection,eight showed H.pylori antibodies by immunoblotting.All eight had elevated PCA and 4/8 also had IF antibodies.Of the six immunoblot-negative patients with severe corpus atrophy,PCA and IF antibodies were detected in four.Among the patients with low to moderate grade atrophic gastritis(all except one with an ongoing H.pylori infection),serum markers for gastric atrophy and autoimmunity were seldom detected.However,one H.pylori negative patient with mild atrophic gastritis had PCA and IF antibodies suggestive of a pre-atrophic autoimmune gastritis. 3Immunogenetic characteristics of patients with autoimmune gastritis显示文摘AIM:To explore whether predisposition to autoimmune gastritis (AIG) is found in human leukocyte antigen (HLA), cytokine or killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) gene variations.METHODS: Twelve Finnish patients with autoimmunetype severe atrophy of the gastric corpus were included. The patients' serum was analyzed for pepsinogen-interleukin (IL)-1 gene cluster, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, interferon γ, transforming growth factor β, and tumor necrosis factor α. Variation in KIR genes was also explored. 4提供免费眼镜对中国学龄儿童学习成绩的影响:整群随机对照试验显示文摘目的探讨免费眼镜对中国农村近视儿童学习成绩的影响。设计仅对研究者进行设盲的整群随机对照研究。地点2012-2013年,中国西部的两个市的252所学校。研究对象在19934名小学四、五年级儿童中的、任一眼裸眼视力〈6/12且戴镜视力可提高至〉6/12的3177名(平均龄10.5岁)儿童,其中的3052名(96.0%)儿童完成了整个研究。干预措施纳入研究的儿童在学年开始时,以学校为单位(平均每组84所学校)随机分为3组,分别接受以下干预:仅获得配镜处方(此组为本研究的对照组),获得项目指定眼镜店换取眼镜的凭证,或现场获取免费眼镜。主要结果指标末次检查(研究结束)时的戴镜率和研究结束时用专门设计的数学测试考核的成绩(用研究开始的成绩进行调整,以标准差的改变来度量)。结果3177名纳入的儿童被随机分配到对照组(1036名,占32.6%)、凭证组(988名,占31.1%)和免费眼镜组(1153名,占36.3%)。虽然所有儿童戴镜后视力均有提高,但在研究开始时,仅15%的儿童配戴了眼镜。研究结束时免费眼镜组观察到的戴镜率为41%,儿童自诉的戴镜率为68%;对照组观察到的戴镜率为26%,儿童自诉的戴镜率为37%。相对于对照组,免费眼镜组对学习成绩影响为0.11标准差(SD)[95%可信区间(CI)0.01—0.21,P=0.03]。调整后的免费眼镜的效应(0.10SD,95%CI0.002~0.19;P=0.04)也远远大于父母的受教育程度(0.03,95%CI-0.04~0.09)及家庭的富裕程度(0.01,95%CI-0.06~0.08)。虽然组间有统计学差异,但差异的幅度还是比用于样本量计算的幅度,即0.20SD小。结论尽管儿童的依从性并不是非常好,向儿童提供免费眼镜对于提高儿童的数学成绩有统计学意义,但各组间差异小于预期。本研究中,儿童的近视患病率较高但戴镜率却很低。马晓晨 周钟强 易红梅 庞晓鹏 史耀疆 陈倩韵 Mirjam E. 5Development of an internally braced prosthesis for total talus replacement显示文摘Total loss of talus due to trauma or avascular necrosis,for example,still remains to be a major challenge in foot and ankle surgery with severely limited treatment options.Implantation of a custom made total talar prosthesis has shown promising results so far.Most important factors for long time success are degree of congruence of articular surfaces and ligamentous stability of the ankle.Therefore,our aim was to develop an optimized custom made prosthesis for total talus replacement providing a high level of primary stability.A custom made hemiprosthesis was developed using computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging data of the affected and contralateral talus considering the principles and technology for the development of the S.T.A.R.prosthesis(Stryker).Additionally,four eyelets for fixation of artificial ligaments were added at the correspondent footprints of the most important ligaments.Two modifications can be provided according to the clinical requirements:A tri-articular hemiprosthesis or a bi-articular hemiprosthesis combined with the tibial component of the S.T.A.R.total ankle replacement system.A feasibility study was performed using a fresh frozen human cadaver.Maximum range of motion of the ankle was measured and ligamentous stability was evaluated by use of standard X-rays after application of varus,valgus or sagittal stress with 150 N.Correct implantation of the prosthesis was technically possible via an anterior approach to the ankle and using standard instruments.Malleolar osteotomies were not required.Maximum ankle dorsiflexion and plantarflexion were measured as 22-0-28 degrees.Maximum anterior displacement of the talus was 6 mm,maximum varus tilt 3 degrees and maximum valgus tilt 2 degrees.Application of an internally braced prosthesis for total talus replacement in humans is technically feasible and might be a reasonable procedure in carefully selected cases with no better alternatives left.Markus Regauer Mirjam Lange Kevin Soldan Steffen Peyerl Sebastian Baumbach Wolfgang Bocker Hans Polzer 2017World Journal of Orthopedics2017,8,3:4

8Neutralizing antibodies in hepatitis C virus infection显示文摘Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major cause of hepatitis world-wide. The majority of infected individuals develop chronic hepatitis which can then progress to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Spontaneous viral clearance occurs in about 20%-30% of acutely infected individuals and results in resolution of infection without sequaelae. Both viral and host factors appear to play an important role for resolution of acute infection. A large body of evidence suggests that a strong, multispecific and long-lasting cellular immune response appears to be important for control of viral infection in acute hepatitis C. Due too the lack of convenient neutralization assays, the impact of neutralizing responses for control of viral infection had been less defined. In recent years, the development of robust tissue culture model systems for HCV entry and infection has finally allowed study of antibody-mediated neutralization and to gain further insights into viral targets of host neutralizing responses. In addition, detailed analysis of antibody-mediated neutralization in individual patients as well as cohorts with well defined viral isolates has enabled the study of neutralizing responses in the course of HCV infection and characterization of the impact of neutralizing antibodiesfor control of viral infection. 9Importance of intellectual property generated by biomedical research at universities and academic hospitals显示文摘Biomedical research has many different facets.Researchers and clinicians study disease biology and biochemistry to discover novel therapeutic targets,unravel biochemical pathways and identify biomarkers to improve diagnosis,or devise new approaches to clinically manage diseases more effectively.In all instances,the overall goal of biomedical research is to ensure that results thereof(such as a therapy,a device,or a method which may be broadly referred to as“inventions”)are clinically implemented.Most of the researchers’efforts are centered on the advance of technical and scientific aspects of an invention.The development and implementation of an invention can be arduous and very costly.Historically,it has proven to be crucial to protect intellectual property rights(IPR)to an invention(i.e.,a patent)to ensure that companies can obtain a fair return on their investment that is needed to develop an academic invention into a product for the benefit of patients.However,the importance of IPR is not generally acknowledged among researchers at academic institutions active in biomedical research.Therefore this paper aims to(1)raise IP awareness amongst clinical and translational researchers;(2)provide a concise overview of what the patenting trajectory entails;and(3)highlight the importance of patenting for research and the researcher.Importance for patients:Adequate patent protection of inventions generated through biomedical research at academic institutions increases the probability that patients will benefit from these inventions,and indirectly enables the financing of clinical studies,mainly by opening up funding opportunities(e.g.specific grants aimed at start-ups,pre-seed and seed capital)that otherwise would not be accessible.As a consequence,patented inventions are more likely to become clinically tested and reach the market,providing patients with more treatment options.Joris J.Heus Elmar S.de Pauw Mirjam Leloux Margherita Morpurgo Michael R Hamblin Michal Heger 2017Journal of Clinical & Translational Research2017,3,2:3

11Towards the Tipping Point for FAIR Implementation显示文摘This article explores the global implementation of the FAIR Guiding Principles for scientific management and data stewardship,which provide that data should be findable,accessible,interoperable and reusable.The implementation of these principles is designed to lead to the stewardship of data as FAIR digital objects and the establishment of the Internet of FAIR Data and Services(IFDS).If implementation reaches a tipping point,IFDS has the potential to revolutionize how data is managed by making machine and human readable data discoverable for reuse.Accordingly,this article examines the expansion of the implementation of FAIR Guiding Principles,especially how and in which geographies(locations)and areas(topic domains)implementation is taking place.A literature review of academic articles published between 2016 and 2019 on the use of FAIR Guiding Principles is presented.The investigation also includes an analysis of the domains in the IFDS Implementation Networks(INs).Its uptake has been mainly in the Western hemisphere.The investigation found that implementation of FAIR Guiding Principles has taken firm hold in the domain of bio and natural sciences.To achieve a tipping point for FAIR implementation,it is now time to ensure the inclusion of non-European ascendants and of other scientific domains.Apart from equal opportunity and genuine global partnership issues,a permanent European bias poses challenges with regard to the representativeness and validity of data and could limit the potential of IFDS to reach across continental boundaries.The article concludes that,despite efforts to be inclusive,acceptance of the FAIR Guiding Principles and IFDS in different scientific communities is limited and there is a need to act now to prevent dampening of the momentum in the development and implementation of the IFDS.It is further concluded that policy entrepreneurs and the GO FAIR INs may contribute to making the FAIR Guiding Principles more flexible in including different research epistemologies,especially through its GO CHANGE pillar.Mirjam van Reisen Mia Stokmans Mariam Basajja Antony Otieno Ong’ayo Christine Kirkpatrick Barend Mons 2020Data Intelligence2020,2,1:3

16FAIR Practices in Africa显示文摘This article investigates expansion of the Internet of FAIR Data and Services(IFDS)to Africa,through the three GO FAIR pillars:GO CHANGE,GO BUILD and GO TRAIN.Introduction of the IFDS in Africa has a focus on digital health.Two examples of introducing FAIR are compared:a regional initiative for digital health by governments in the East Africa Community(EAC)and an initiative by a local health provider(Solidarmed)in collaboration with Great Zimbabwe University in Zimbabwe.The obstacles to introducing FAIR are identified as underrepresentation of data from Africa in IFDS at this moment,the lack of explicit recognition of situational context of research in FAIR at present and the lack of acceptability of FAIR as a foreign and European invention which affects acceptance.It is envisaged that FAIR has an important contribution to solve fragmentation in digital health in Africa,and that any obstacles concerning African participation,context relevance and acceptance of IFDS need to be removed.This will require involvement of African researchers and ICT-developers so that it is driven by local ownership.Assessment of ecological validity in FAIR principles would ensure that the context specificity of research is reflected in the FAIR principles.This will help enhance the acceptance of the FAIR Guidelines in Africa and will help strengthen digital health research and services.Mirjam van Reisen Mia Stokmans Munyaradzi Mawere Mariam Basajja Antony Otieno Ong’ayo Primrose Nakazibwe Christine Kirkpatrick Kudakwashe Chindoza 2020Data Intelligence2020,2,1:2
