肝炎 E : 传染病学和预防显示文摘 Hepatitis E is caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV), the major etiologic agent of enterically transmitted non-A hepatitis worldwide. HEV is responsible for major outbreaks of acute hepatitis in developing countries, especially in many parts of Africa and Asia. The HEV is a spherical, non-enveloped, single-stranded, positive sense RNA virus that is approximately 32 nm to 34 nm in diameter and is the only member in the family Hepeviridae and genus Hepevirus. There are four distinct genotypes of HEV (genotypes 1-4). While genotype 1 is predominantly associated with large epidemics in developing countries, genotype 3 has recently emerged as a significant pathogen in developed countries. The clinical manifestations and the laboratory abnormalities of hepatitis E are not distinguishable from that caused by other hepatitis viruses. However, high mortality among pregnant women particularly during the third trimester distinguishes HEV from other causes of acute viral hepatitis. Specific etiologic diagnosis among infected cases can be made by serological testing or detection of viral nucleic acid by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Although there are vaccine candidates that had been shown to be safe and efficacious in clini-cal trials, none are approved currently for use. There is no specific therapy for acute hepatitis E as treatment remains supportive. | Eyasu H Teshale Dale J Hu | 2011 | World Journal of Hepatology2011,3,12: | 9
Current and future predicting potential areas of Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Richard)using MaxEnt model under climate change in Northern Ethiopia显示文摘Introduction:Climate change will either improve, reduce,or shift its appropriate climatic habitat of a particular species, which could result in shifts from its geographical range.Predicting the potential distribution through MaxEnt modeling has been developed as an appropriate tool for assessing habitat distribution and resource conservation to protect bamboo species. Methods:Our objective is to model the current and future distribution of Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Richard)based on three representative concentration pathways(RCP)(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)for 2050s and 2070s using a maximum entropy model(MaxEnt)in Northern Ethiopia. For modeling procedure,77 occurrence records and 11 variables were retained to simulate the current and future distributions of Oxytenanthera abyssinica in Northern Ethiopia. To evaluate the performance of the model, the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC)was used. Results:All of the AUCs(area under curves)were greater than 0.900,thereby placing these models in the“excellent”category. The jackknife test also showed that precipitation of the coldest quarter(Bio19)and precipitation of the warmest quarter(Bio18)contributed 66.8%and 54.7%to the model. From the area of current distribution,1367.51 km2(2.52%),7226.28 km2(13.29%),and 5377.26 km2(9.89%)of the study area were recognized as high, good, and moderate potential habitats of Oxytenanthera abyssinica in Northern Ethiopia, and the high potential area was mainly concentrated in Tanqua Abergele(0.70%),Kola Temben(0.65%),Tselemti(0.60%),and Tsegede(0.31%).Kafta Humera was also the largest good potential area, which accounts for 2.75%.Compared to the current distribution, the total area of the high potential regions and good potential regions for Oxytenanthera abyssinica under the three RCPs(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)would increase in the 2050s and 2070s.However,the total area of the least potential regions under the three RCPs(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)in 2050s and 2070s would decrease. Conclusion:This study can provide vital information for the protection, management, and sustainable use of Oxytenanthera abyssinica, the resource to address the global climate challenges. | Yikunoamlak Gebrewahid Selemawi Abrehe Esayas Meresa Gebru Eyasu Kiros Abay Gebrehiwot Gebreab Kiros Kidanemariam Gezu Adissu Gebrekidan Abreha Girmay Darcha | 2020 | Ecological Processes2020,9,1: | 4

Dispersed trees on smallholder farms enhance soil fertility in semi-arid Ethiopia显示文摘Introduction:Dispersed trees such as Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Rich.)and Dalbergia melanoxylon(Guill.&Perr.)which are objectively maintained or planted on farmland provide a significant contribution to soil fertility improvement. However, there was no quantitative information on the level of soil nutrient additions of these trees to the soil system. Methods:This study was conducted on the farmers’fields in Kafta Humera district,Tigray region(northern Ethiopia),where mature stands of O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon trees exist.Radial distance-based soil sampling(under the canopy, near to canopy, and far from canopy)was adopted to quantify the role of these trees on soil fertility improvement.Soil parameters tested were soil reaction(pH),total nitrogen(TN),available phosphorus(AvP),electrical conductivity(EC),cation exchange capacity(CEC),and organic carbon(OC).Results:There was a negative linear relationship between the radial distance of the O.abyssinica tree trunk and soil TN,OC,CEC,and AvP contents but not for pH.Similarly, negative linear relationship between distance from D.melanoxylon and TN,OC,and AvP was obtained. The average total nitrogen(0.26%and 0.13%),available phosphorus(7.21 ppm and 6.37 ppm),and organic carbon(1.73%and 1.02%)contents were respectively higher under the tree canopies of O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon compared with the adjacent open canopies. The amount of soil OC,TN,AvP,and CEC under O.abyssinica tree species was also significantly higher by 69%,100%,13%,and 42%compared to that of D.melanoxylon tree species. However, the amount of EC and soil pH was significantly lower by 57%and 19%,respectively.Conclusion:In general,O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon added a significant amount of nutrients to the soil. Thus, retaining these important tree species on farmland played a positive role in replenishing soil fertility for resource-constrained households so as to reduce chemical fertilizer amendments. | Yikunoamlak Gebrewahid Kassa Teka Tewolde-Berhan Gebre-Egziabhier Sara Tewolde-Berhan Emiru Birhane Gebru Eyasu Esayas Meresa | 2019 | Ecological Processes2019,8,1: | 1

In vitro vasodilatory effect of aqueous leaf extract of Thymus serrulatus on thoracic aorta of Guinea pigs显示文摘Objective:To investigate the vasodilatory effecl of Thymus serrulatus(T.serrulatus) aqueous leaf extract on KCl(high K^+.80 mmol/L) induced precontracted isolated thoracic aorta rings on guinea pigs and the role of aorta endothelium on this action. Methods:Guinea pig thoracic aorta was removed and placed in an organ bath containing Krebs-Henseleit solution and aorta contractions were recorded isometrically. Results:The results revealed that T.serrulalus aqueous leaf extract(0.5-5 mg/mL)significantly(P<0.001) reduced KCl-induced contractions of guinea pig thoracic aorta in both intact(n=5) and denuded(n=5) endothelium in a concentration dependent manner, and the vasodilatory effect of the extract on intact endothelium was significantly(P<0.05) higher than that on denuded endothelium.Glibenclamide(10 μmol/L) significantly(P<0.001) increased the vasodilatory effect of extract in intact endothelium as compared to methylene blue(10μmol/L).atropine(10 μmol/L) and indomethacin(10 μmol/L).The effecl was more obvious on intact than that on denuded endothelium. Conclusions:The present findings demonstrate that T.serrulalus aqueous leaf extract has vasodilator)' activity which might result in antihypertensive effect and its vasodilatory effect is endothelium-dependent.This might support the traditional claim of the plant in hypertensive. | Bekesho Geleta Mebrahtu Eyasu Selamu Kebamo Asfaw Debella Eyasu Makonnen Abiy Abebe | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,1: | 0
Role of ablation therapy in conjunction with surgical resection for neuroendocrine tumors involving the liver显示文摘BACKGROUND Resection of hepatic metastasis from neuroendocrine tumors(NETs)improves quality of life and prolongs 5-year survival.Ablation can be utilized with surgery to achieve complete resection.Although several studies report long-term out-comes for patients undergoing ablation, none have explored perioperative effects of ablation in patients with metastatic NETs.AIM To determine if intra-operative ablation during hepatectomy increases risk of ad-verse outcomes such as surgical site infections(SSIs),bleeding, and bile leak.METHODS A retrospective analysis of the hepatectomy National Surgical Quality Impro-vement Program database from 2015-2019 was performed to determine the odds of SSIs,bile leaks,or bleeding in patients undergoing intraoperative ablation when compared to hepatectomy alone.RESULTS Of the 966 patients included in the study,298(30.9%)underwent ablation during hepatectomy. There were 78(11.7%)patients with SSIs in the hepatectomy alone group and 39(13.1%)patients with a SSIs in the hepatectomy with ablation group.Bile leak occurred in 41(6.2%)and 14(4.8%)patients in the two groups,respec-tively;bleeding occurred in 117(17.5%)and 33(11.1%),respectively.After con-trolling for confounding variables, ablation did not increase risk of SSI(P=0.63),bile leak(P=0.34)or bleeding(P=0.07)when compared to patients undergoing resection alone on multivariate analysis.CONCLUSION Intraoperative ablation with hepatic resection for NETs is safe in the perioperative period without significant increased risk of infection, bleeding,or bile leak.Surgeons should utilize this modality when appropriate to a-chieve optimal disease control and outcomes. | Alexander Ostapenko Stephanie Stroever Lud Eyasu Minha Kim Krist Aploks Xiang Da Dong Ramanathan Seshadri | 2024 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2024,16,3: | 0
