| 4 | Assessment of surface and subsurface waterlogging, water level fluctuations, and lithological variations for evaluating groundwater resources in Ganga Plains显示文摘In the present study,the multi-temporal satellite images of IRS P6 LISS III were used to map waterlogging dynamics over different seasons.An area of 594.36 km2(6.75%)and 4.17 km^(2)(0.04%)was affected by surface waterlogging during pre and postmonsoon season,respectively.The average annual groundwater level fluctuations were calculated using 18 years(1990-2007)pre and postmonsoon groundwater level data to identify the areas which are under groundwater induced waterlogging conditions.The soil map clearly indicates that salinity and sodicity exhibit the highest severity and occur in areas with shallow groundwater levels.The hydrogeomorphical units mapped using IRS P6 LISS III satellite images are flood plain,alluvial plain,paleochannels,and oxbow lakes.The study revealed that 44.65%areas have very good to excellent groundwater resources.The litholog data clearly indicate an alternating sequence of clay and sand in which deep aquifers made up of coarse sand would be best suited for adequate water supply and good groundwater quality.The integrated study utilizing digital spatial data pertaining to waterlogging,soil salinity,water level fluctuation,and lithological variation proved that planning of any surface and subsurface water resources development activity should be taken up after assessments of said parameters. | Arvind Chandra Pandey Suraj Kumar Singh M.S.Nathawat Dipankar Saha | 2013 | International Journal of Digital Earth2013,6,3: | 1 |

The presence of traditional and CKD related risk factors results in exaggerated vascular calcification in these patients. Vascular calcification is associated with reduced large arterial compliance and thus impaired baroreflex sensi-tivity(BRS) resulting in augmented blood pressure(BP) variability and hampered BP regulation. Baroreflex plays a vital role in short term regulation of BP. | 20 | Impact of temperature and precipitation lapse rate on hydrological modelling over Himalayan Gandak River Basin显示文摘The hydrology of Himalayan region is influenced by temperature lapse rate(TLAPS)and precipitation lapse rate(PLAPS).Therefore,hydrological modeling considering TLAPS and PLAPS is crucial to manage the water resources in these terrains.In this research,Himalayan Gandak River basin is considered as the study area where TLAPS and PLAPS vary significantly due to high altitude of Himalayas.To assess the impact of TLAPS and PLAPS on water balance components,Soil Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)model was calibrated(2000-2007)and validated(2008-2014)on daily time step for three projects i.e.,Reference Project(RP),Snowmelt Project(SP)and distributed elevation band snowmelt project(SWAT-ETISM).The analysis discloses that SWAT-ETISM model(which has TLAPS and PLAPS parameters)outperforms the RP and the SP models in predicting streamflow with improved statistical indicators R2=0.88,NSE=0.84 and PBIAS=11.9.Furthermore,it was observed that SWAT-ETISM model comprehensively improved the streamflow statistics by improving the snow water equivalent and water balance components through the consideration of TLAPS and PLAPS values for the region.Hence,the proposed SWAT-ETISM model can be used for estimation of the water budget at the high-altitude and data scarce alpine Himalayan regions and worldwide,where PLAPS and TLAPS are substantial due to altitudinal variation. | Brijesh KUMAR Dipankar ROY Venkataraman LAKSHMI | 2022 | Journal of Mountain Science2022,19,12: | 0 |
