4Absorbable magnesium-based stent: physiological factors to consider for in vitro degradation assessments显示文摘Absorbable metals have been widely tested in various in vitro settings using cells to evaluate their possible suitability as an implant material.However,there exists a gap between in vivo and in vitro test results for absorbable materials.A lot of traditional in vitro assessments for permanent materials are no longer applicable to absorbable metallic implants.A key step is to identify and test the relevant microenvironment and parameters in test systems,which should be adapted according to the specific application.New test methods are necessary to reduce the difference between in vivo and in vitro test results and provide more accurate information to better understand absorbable metallic implants.In this investigative review,we strive to summarize the latest test methods for characterizing absorbable magnesium-based stent for bioabsorption/biodegradation behavior in the mimicking vascular environments.Also,this article comprehensively discusses the direction of test standardization for absorbable stents to paint a more accurate picture of the in vivo condition around implants to determine the most important parameters and their dynamic interactions.JuanWang Christopher E.Smith Jagannathan Sankar Yeoheung Yun Nan Huang 2015Regenerative Biomaterials2015,2,1:9
5Isolation of the mucilages from Hibiscus rosasinensis linn.and Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus linn.) and studies of the binding effects of the mucilages显示文摘Objective:To isolate and evaluate comparatively the binding efficacy of the mucilages obtained from the plants of Hibiscus rosasinensis and Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus).Methods:Extraction of mucilages from the leaves of Hibiscus and pods of Okra(Ladies finger) was carried out by a cold maceration process.The extracted mucilages were subjected to various physicochemical properties for its suitability as an excipient in the formulation of tablet dosage form.Different concentrations(10,8,5,2 and 1%w/v) of binder solutions of Hibiscus and Okra were used for the formulation of tablets and the formulated tablets were evaluated by studying the standard parameters like diameter,thickness,weight variation,hardness,friability,disintegration and in vitro dissolution.Stability studies of the formulated tablets were conducted for four weeks. Results:The formulated tablets prepared using the mucilages of both Hibiscus and Okra had good appearance.The in vitro drug release profile of the tablets prepared using Okra mucilage had an optimum of 90%at a mucilage concentration of 1%w/v concentration mucilage itself within 4 h.Conclusions:According to the observations,the lower concentration levels of Okra can be used as an alternative binder to starch.The higher concentration levels of Okra mucilage show a slow and sustained release,and can be considered as an alternative natural excipient in the modified drug delivery systems.At the same time,the above natural excipient of Hibiscus mucilage could be used as a platform for prolonged release if its binder concentrations are increased.Ameena K Dilip C Saraswathi R Krishnan PN Sankar C Simi SP 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,7:8
6Curcumin reverses T cell-mediated adaptive immune dysfunctions in tumor-bearing hosts显示文摘Immune dysfunction is well documented during tumor progression and likely contributes to tumor immune evasion.CD81 cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs)are involved in antigen-specific tumor destruction and CD41 T cells are essential for helping this CD81 T cell-dependent tumor eradication.Tumors often target and inhibit T-cell function to escape from immune surveillance.This dysfunction includes loss of effector and memory T cells,bias towards type 2 cytokines and expansion of T regulatory(Treg)cells.Curcumin has previously been shown to have antitumor activity and some research has addressed the immunoprotective potential of this plant-derived polyphenol in tumor-bearing hosts.Here we examined the role of curcumin in the prevention of tumor-induced dysfunction of T cell-based immune responses.We observed severe loss of both effector and memory T-cell populations,downregulation of type 1 and upregulation of type 2 immune responses and decreased proliferation of effector T cells in the presence of tumors.Curcumin,in turn,prevented this loss of T cells,expanded central memory T cell(TCM)/effector memory T cell(TEM)populations,reversed the type 2 immune bias and attenuated the tumor-induced inhibition of T-cell proliferation in tumor-bearing hosts.Further investigation revealed that tumor burden upregulated Treg cell populations and stimulated the production of the immunosuppressive cytokines transforming growth factor(TGF)-b and IL-10 in these cells.Curcumin,however,inhibited the suppressive activity of Treg cells by downregulating the production of TGF-b and IL-10 in these cells.More importantly,curcumin treatment enhanced the ability of effector T cells to kill cancer cells.Overall,our observations suggest that the unique properties of curcumin may be exploited for successful attenuation of tumor-induced suppression of cell-mediated immune responses.Sankar Bhattacharyya Dewan Md Sakib Hossain Suchismita Mohanty Gouri Sankar Sen Sreya Chattopadhyay Shuvomoy Banerjee Juni Chakraborty Kaushik Das Diptendra Sarkar Tanya Das Gaurisankar Sa 2010Cellular & Molecular Immunology2010,7,4:7

11Alpha-tocopherol supplementation on chromium toxicity: a study on rat liver and kidney cell membrane显示文摘Membrane damage is one of the important consequence of chromium, an environmental toxicant, to produce cytotoxicity. α-tocopherol, a membrane protectant can be used to reduce the chromium-induced membrane damage. In the present study, the impact of chromium in presence and absence of α-tocopherol was studied on plasma membrane of liver and kidney in male Wistar rats (80—100 g body weight). Significant increase in membrane cholesterol level as well as significant decrease in membrane phospholipid level in chromium exposed ( 0.8 mg /100 g body weight/d, i.p., for 4 weeks) animals suggest structural alteration of both liver and kidney plasma memebrane. The alkaline phosphatase, total ATPase and Na +-K +-ATPase activities of plasma membrane were significantly decreased in both liver and kidney after chromium treatment. However, α-tocopherol (30 mg/100 g diet) supplementation can restrict the changes in these membrane-bound enzyme activities. 12MADCR:Mobility Aware Dynamic Clustering-Based Routing Protocol in Internet of Vehicles显示文摘Internet of Vehicles(IoV)is an evolution of the Internet of Things(IoT)to improve the capabilities of vehicular ad-hoc networks(VANETs)in intelligence transport systems.The network topology in IoV paradigm is highly dynamic.Clustering is one of the promising solutions to maintain the route stability in the dynamic network.However,existing algorithms consume a considerable amount of time in the cluster head(CH)selection process.Thus,this study proposes a mobility aware dynamic clustering-based routing(MADCR)protocol in IoV to maximize the lifespan of networks and reduce the end-to-end delay of vehicles.The MADCR protocol consists of cluster formation and CH selection processes.A cluster is formed on the basis of Euclidean distance.The CH is then chosen using the mayfly optimization algorithm(MOA).The CH subsequently receives vehicle data and forwards such data to the Road Side Unit(RSU).The performance of the MADCR protocol is compared with that ofAnt Colony Optimization(ACO),Comprehensive Learning Particle Swarm Optimization(CLPSO),and Clustering Algorithm for Internet of Vehicles based on Dragonfly Optimizer(CAVDO).The proposed MADCR protocol decreases the end-toend delay by 5–80 ms and increases the packet delivery ratio by 5%–15%.Sankar Sennan Somula Ramasubbareddy Sathiyabhama Balasubramaniyam Anand Nayyar Chaker Abdelaziz Kerrache Muhammad Bilal 2021China Communications2021,18,7:4
13Anti-inflammatory activity of the leaf extacts of Gendarussa vulgaris Nees显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the anti-inflammatory property of the leaf exacts of Gendarussa vulgaris(G.vulgarix) Nees.Methods:G.vulgarix Nees of the family Apocynaceae is a medium sized tree grown in semishade or no shade and is common in the Ernad and Nilambur taluks of Kerala. Various parts of this plant have been used in the treatment of ulcers,sores,inflammation, dyspepsia,healing of wounds,etc.The present study aimed at the evaluation of anti-inflammatory property of the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of the leaves by both in vitro and in vivo methods. In vitro method was estimated by human red blood cell membrane stabilisation(HRBC) method and in vivo method was estimated on the carrageenan induced paw oedima.Results:Both the methods showed significant anti-inflammatory property of the different extracts tested. 16Factors associated with coverage of praziquantel for schistosomiasis control in the communitydirect intervention (CDI) approach in Mali (West Africa)显示文摘Background:Despite the progress made in the control of Neglected Tropical Diseases(NTD),schistosome and soil-transmitted helminth infections are far from being effectively managed in many parts of the world.Chemotherapy,the key element of all control strategies,is faced with some difficulties in terms of access to treatment.Our study aims to describe the factors involved in the success or failure of the community-directed intervention(CDI)approach through control programmes,which aims to achieve consistent high coverage at affordable and sustainable costs in endemic areas.Methods:The CDI approach was carried out from December 2007 to October 2008 in ten villages of the district of Diéma,Mali.At inclusion,each child part of the study’s sample was interviewed and submitted for a physical examination.The study focused on:data collection,treatment of the eligible population,evaluation of the treatment coverage,performance of community drug distributors(CDDs),and the involvement and perception of populations.Results:A total of 8,022 eligible people were studied with a mean coverage rate of 76.7%.Using multiple regression,it was determined that receiving praziquantel as treatment was associated with five factors:belonging to the Fulani or Moorish ethnic minority versus the Bambara/Soninke,use of the central versus the house-to-house drug distribution mode,the ratio of the population to the number of CDDs,the lack of supervision and belonging to the age group of 15 years or above(p<0.05).As well as that,it was found that the presence of parallel community-based programmes(HIV,tuberculosis)that provide financial incentives for community members discouraged many CDDs(who in most cases are volunteers)to participate in the CDI approach due to a lack of incentives.Conclusions:The findings indicate that the success of the CDI approach depends on,amongst other things,the personal characteristics of the respondents,as well as on community factors.Abdoulaye Dabo Boubacar Bary Bourema Kouriba Oumar Sankaré Ogobara Doumbo 2013Infectious Diseases of Poverty2013,2,1:3

19Gasification kinetic modelling of Victorian brown coal chars and validity for entrained flow gasification in CO_(2)显示文摘The gasification kinetic modelling of two Victorian brown coal(Yallourn and Maddingley)chars and the validity for entrained flow gasification were investigated in this study.The study was conducted in a thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA)at 750–1100℃,30%–90%CO_(2)concentration using different char particle sizes within 20–106 mm.It was found that random pore model and modified volumetric model are applicable for TGA results,but volumetric model and grain model are not.The effect of particle size under106 mm on gasification rate is very limited.Activation energies of Maddingley char and Yallourn char in CO_(2)gasification are 219–220 and 197–208 k J/mol,respectively.The pre-exponential factors are in the same order of magnitude,and they increased as particle size decreased.A mathematical model was developed to predict carbon conversion over time for entrained flow gasification of Victorian brown coal chars at 1000–1400℃.Tao Xu Yongping Wu Sankar Bhattacharya 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,3:2
20Development and validation of a high throughput UPLC–MS/MS method for simultaneous quantification of esomeprazole,rabeprazole and levosulpiride in human plasma显示文摘A high throughput ultra pressure liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry(UPLC–MS/MS) method with good sensitivity and selectivity has been developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of esomeprazole,rabeprazole and levosulpiride in human plasma using lansoprazole as internal standard(IS).The extraction method based on liquid–liquid extraction technique was used to extract the analytes and IS from of 50 mL of human plasma using methyl tert-butyl ether:ethyl acetate(80:20,v/v),which offers a high recovery.Chromatographic separation of analytes and IS was achieved on a Hypersil gold C_(18) column using gradient mobile phase consisting of 2 mM ammonium formate/acetonitrile.The flow rate was set at 0.5 mL/min to elute all the analytes and IS within 1.00 min runtime.Detection of target compounds was performed on a triple quadruple mass spectrometer by multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) mode via positive electrospray ionization(ESI).Method validation results demonstrated that the developed method has good precision and accuracy over the concentration ranges of 0.1–2000 ng/mL for each analyte.Stability of compounds was established in a battery of stability studies,i.e.,bench top,autosampler,dry extract and long-term storage stability as well as freeze-thaw cycles.The validated method has been successfully applied to analyze human plasma samples for application in pharmacokinetic studies.Raja Haranadha Babu Chunduri Gowri Sankar Dannana 2016Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2016,6,3:2
