1High expression of ACE2 receptor of 2019-nCoV on the epithelial cells of oral mucosa显示文摘It has been reported that ACE2 is the main host cell receptor of 2019-nCoV and plays a crucial role in the entry of virus into the cell to cause the final infection. To investigate the potential route of 2019-n Cov infection on the mucosa of oral cavity, bulk RNA-seq profiles from two public databases including The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and Functional Annotation of The Mammalian Genome Cap Analysis of Gene Expression(FANTOM5 CAGE) dataset were collected. RNA-seq profiling data of 13 organ types with para-carcinoma normal tissues from TCGA and 14 organ types with normal tissues from FANTOM5 CAGE were analyzed in order to explore and validate the expression of ACE2 on the mucosa of oral cavity. Further, single-cell transcriptomes from an independent data generated in-house were used to identify and confirm the ACE2-expressing cell composition and proportion in oral cavity. The results demonstrated that the ACE2 expressed on the mucosa of oral cavity. Interestingly, this receptor was highly enriched in epithelial cells of tongue. 5A mathematical modeling study of the HIV epidemics at two rural townships in the Liangshan Prefecture of the Sichuan Province of China显示文摘Background:As a response to a severe HIV epidemic in the Liangshan Prefecture,one of the worst in China,population based HIV interventions,including two population-wide HIV screening,have been carried out since 2005 at two townships in a remote mountainous region of Liangshan.The objective of our mathematical modeling study is to assess the temporal dynamics of the HIV epidemic in the two townships based on the data collected in the study area during the period 2005e2010.Methods:A mathematical model was set up to describe the population dynamics of HIV transmission in study area.The model was calibrated by fitting it to the HIV testing and treatment data from 2005 to 2008.Validation of the model was done by comparing its predicted value of HIV prevalence in 2010 to the prevalence data obtained in the 2010 population wide HIV testing.The validated model was used to produce estimation of HIV incidence,prevalence and death.Results:Our model estimations show that population-based HIV interventions have significantly slowed down the rise of the HIV epidemic in the two townships.Over the five-year period from 2005 to 2010,the year-over-year rate of increase in HIV incidence,prevalence,and death has declined by 91.5%,28.7%,and 52.3%,respectively.Conclusion:Mathematical models,when integrated with epidemiological and surveillance data,can be an effective tool for predicting the temporal dynamics of HIV and assessing the impacts of HIV interventions.Zhimin Su Caiting Dong Ping Li Hongxia Deng Yuhan Gong Shiyong Zhong Min Wu Yuhua Ruan Guangming Qin Wen Yang Yiming Shao Michael Li 2016Infectious Disease Modelling2016,1,1:2
6Au-Pd/mesoporous Fe_2O_3:Highly active photocatalysts for the visible-light-driven degradation of acetone显示文摘Three-dimensionally ordered mesoporous Fe_2O_3(meso-Fe_2O_3) and its supported Au, Pd,and Au-Pd alloy(xA uP dy/meso-Fe_2O_3; x = 0.08–0.72 wt.%; Pd/Au molar ratio(y) = 1.48–1.85)photocatalysts have been prepared via the KIT-6-templating and polyvinyl alcohol-protected reduction routes, respectively. Physical properties of the samples were characterized, and their photocatalytic activities were evaluated for the photocatalytic oxidation of acetone in the presence of a small amount of H_2O_2 under visible-light illumination. It was found that the meso-Fe_2O_3 was rhombohedral in crystal structure. The as-obtained samples displayed a high surface area of 111.0–140.8 m^2/g and a bandgap energy of 1.98–2.12 eV. The Au, Pd and/or Au–Pd alloy nanoparticles(NPs) with a size of 3–4 nm were uniformly dispersed on the surface of the meso-Fe_2O_3 support. The 0.72 wt.% AuP d1.48/meso-Fe_2O_3 sample performed the best in the presence of 0.06 mol/L H_2O_2 aqueous solution, showing a 100% acetone conversion within4 hr of visible-light illumination. It was concluded that the good performance of 0.72 wt.%AuPd_(1.48)/meso-Fe_2O_3 for photocatalytic acetone oxidation was associated with its ordered mesoporous structure, high adsorbed oxygen species concentration, plasmonic resonance effect between AuPd_(1.48) NPs and meso-Fe_2O_3, and effective separation of the photogenerated charge carriers. 7Determination of mixed-mode interfacial fracture toughness for thermal barrier coatings显示文摘In this work,a test method was developed to determine the interfacial fracture toughness of the air plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) over a wide range of mode mixities.For this mixed-mode test method,the analytical expressions for the energy release rate and stress intensity factors were derived based on the energy theory and the concept of 'equivalence'.The fidelity of these expressions was affirmed by selected finite element analysis.The experimental results showed that the critical energy release rate increased with the increase of the positive mode mixity,which was mainly due to the increase in contact/friction effect and plastic work dissipation with increasing shear mode loading.Furthermore,an elliptical interfacial failure criterion in terms of the stress intensity factors was proposed.The agreement between the experimental results in the literature and those in our work indicated that our test method and the corresponding analytical solutions can well determine the interfacial fracture toughness of the TBCs over a wide range of mode mixities.DENG HongXia SHI HuiJi YU HuiChen ZHONG Bin 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:2

12Combining Residual Attention Mechanisms and Generative Adversarial Networks for Hippocampus Segmentation显示文摘This research discussed a deep learning method based on an improved generative adversarial network to segment the hippocampus.Different convolutional configurations were proposed to capture information obtained by a segmentation network.In addition,a generative adversarial network based on Pixel2Pixel was proposed.The generator was a codec structure combining a residual network and an attention mechanism to capture detailed information.The discriminator used a convolutional neural network to discriminate the segmentation results of the generated model and that of the expert.Through the continuously transmitted losses of the generator and discriminator,the generator reached the optimal state of hippocampus segmentation.T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scans and related hippocampus labels of 130 healthy subjects from the Alzheimer’s disease Neuroimaging Initiative dataset were used as training and test data;similarity coefficient,sensitivity,and positive predictive value were used as evaluation indicators.Results showed that the network model could achieve an efficient automatic segmentation of the hippocampus and thus has practical relevance for the correct diagnosis of diseases,such as Alzheimer’s disease.Hongxia Deng Yuefang Zhang Ran Li Chunxiang Hu Zijian Feng Haifang Li 2022Tsinghua Science and Technology2022,27,1:1

15Flexible quasi-solid-state dual-ion asymmetric supercapacitor based on Ni(OH)2 and Nb2O5 nanosheet arrays显示文摘Increasing the energy density, power density as well as widening the operation voltage are essential to electrochemical capacitors to meet the practical energy demands. Herein, a novel flexible quasi-solid-state dual-ion asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC) with Ni(OH)2 and Nb2O5 nanosheets directly grown on stainless steel mesh is developed. In the dual-ion ASC, Nb2O5 negative and Ni(OH)2 positive electrodes react with Li+ and OH- respectively in alkaline gel electrolyte to store energy, which is quite different from conventional alkali metal ion SCs and alkaline SCs. The as-assembled flexible device has an extended working voltage of 1.7 V and delivers a capacity of 5.37 mAh cm-2, a maximum energy density and power density of 0.52 mWh cm-3 and 170 mW cm-3 , respectively. The device maintains around 60% capacity retention after long cycling up to 1000 cycles. Moreover, our device can light up a LED light efficiently upon fast charging. 17Single-Cell Microwell Platform Reveals Circulating Neural Cells as a Clinical Indicator for Patients with Blood-Brain Barrier Breakdown显示文摘Central nervous system diseases commonly occur with the destruction of the blood-brain barrier.As a primary cause of morbidity and mortality,stroke remains unpredictable and lacks cellular biomarkers that accurately quantify its occurrence and development.Here,we identify NeuN^(+)/CD45^(−)/DAPI^(+)phenotype nonblood cells in the peripheral blood of mice subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)and stroke patients.Since NeuN is a specific marker of neural cells,we term these newly identified cells as circulating neural cells(CNCs).We find that the enumeration of CNCs in the blood is significantly associated with the severity of brain damage in MCAO mice(p<0:05).Meanwhile,the number of CNCs is significantly higher in stroke patients than in negative subjects(p<0:0001).These findings suggest that the amount of CNCs in circulation may serve as a clinical indicator for the real-time prognosis and progression monitor of the occurrence and development of ischemic stroke and other nervous system disease.Yu Zhang Antony R.Warden Khan Zara Ahmad Yanlei Liu Xijun He Minqiao Zheng Xinlong Huo Xiao Zhi Yuqing Ke Hongxia Li Sijia Yan Wenqiong Su Deng Cai Xianting Ding 2021Research2021,,1:0
18Nano-silver-modified polyphosphazene nanoparticles with different morphologies:Design,synthesis,and evaluation of antibacterial activity显示文摘Drug-resistant bacteria present a severe threat to public health,emphasizing the importance of developing broad-spectrum antibacterial agents that are free from drug resistance.Among silver-based antibacterial agents,nano-silver has been found to exhibit the most promising and comprehensive performance.The exploration of the antibacterial capacity and morphological changes of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)could offer a starting point for the development of safe and efficient antibacterial agents.In this study,three types of nano-silver-modified polyphosphazene(PRV)nanoparticles with different morphologies were synthesized using precipitation polymerization.These nanoparticles were characterized using various techniques,including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The antibacterial activity of these nanoparticles against Escherichia coli(E.coli)and Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)was assessed using minimum inhibitory concentration(MiC)/minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC)tests and inverted fluorescence microscopy.Our results revealed that the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles can vary significantly depending on their immobilized form.Ag@PRV Strawberry-like nanoparticles(NPs)exhibited higher antibacterial activity compared to Ag@PRV Yolk-Shell NPs and Ag@PRV Cable-like nanofibers(NFs).Notably,all three types of synthesized nanoparticles demonstrated a stronger bactericidal effect on Gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative bacteria.Live/dead bacterial staining and scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that silver can kill bacteria by altering the permeability of their cell membranes.These findings offer valuable insights for designing and practically applying new silver-based antibacterial agents in the future.Tairong Kuang Linbing Deng Sitao Shen Hongxia Deng Zhisen Shen Zhenjie Liu Zhengping Zhao Feng Chen Mingqiang Zhong 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,12:0
19Performance Improvement of Two-Phase Steam Ejector based on CFD Techniques,Response Surface Methodology and Genetic Algorithm显示文摘The steam ejector is a crucial component in the waste heat recovery system.Its performance determines the amount of recovered heat and system efficiency.However,poor ejector performance has always been the main bottleneck for system applications.Therefore,this study proposes an optimization methodology to improve the steam ejector's performance by utilizing computational fluid dynamics(CFD) techniques,response surface methodology(RSM),and genetic algorithm(GA).Firstly,a homogeneous equilibrium model(HEM) was established to simulate the two-phase flow in the steam ejector.Then,the orthogonal test was presented to the screening of the key decision variables that have a significant impact on the entrainment ratio(ER).Next,the RSM was used to fit a response surface regression model(RSRM).Meanwhile,the effect of the interaction of geometric parameters on the performance of the steam ejector was revealed.Finally,GA was employed to solve the RSRM's global optimal ER value.The results show that the RSRM exhibits a good fit for ER(R^(2)=0.997).After RSM and GA optimization,the maximum ejector efficiency is 27.94%,which is 48.38% higher than the initial ejector of 18.83%.Furthermore,the optimized ejector efficiency is increased by 46.4% on average under off-design conditions.Overall,the results reveal that the combination of CFD,RSM,and GA presents excellent reliability and feasibility in the optimization design of a two-phase steam ejector.ZHANG Hao ZHAO Hongxia ZHANG Xiuao ZENG Hongxuan DENG Jianqiang 2024Journal of Thermal Science2024,33,2:0
20OsMAPK6 Affects Male Fertility by Reducing Microspore Number and Delaying Tapetum Degradation in Oryza sativa L.显示文摘The mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)cascade is important in stress signal transduction and plant development.In the present study,we identified a rice(Oryza sativa L.)mutant with reduced fertility,Oryza sativa mitogen-activated protein kinase 6(osmapk6),which harbored a mutated MAPK gene.Scanning and transmission electron microscopy,quantitative RT-PCR analysis,TUNEL assays,RNA in situ hybridization,longitudinal and transverse histological sectioning,and map-based cloning were performed to characterize the osmapk6 mutant.The gene OsMAPK6 was expressed throughout the plant but predominantly in the microspore mother cells,tapetal cells,and microspores in the anther sac.Compared with the wild type,the total number of microspores was reduced in the osmapk6 mutant.The formation of microspore mother cells was reduced in the osmapk6 anther sac at an early stage of anther development,which was the primary reason for the decrease in the total number of microspores.Programmed cell death of some tapetal cells was delayed in osmapk6 anthers and affected exine formation in neighboring microspores.These results suggest that OsMAPK6 plays pivotal roles in microspore mother cell formation and tapetal cell degradation.Wuzhong Yin Hongxia Yang Yantong Wang Ping Feng Yao Deng Yang Liu Danyang Chen Yijie Ban Weichi Liu Guanghua He Nan Wang 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,4:0
