1Size distribution of chemical elements and their source apportionment in ambient coarse, fine, and ultrafine particles in Shanghai urban summer atmosphere显示文摘Ambient coarse particles (diameter 1.8-10 μm), fine particles (diameter 0.1-1.8 μm), and ultrafine particles (diameter < 0.1 μm) in the atmosphere of the city of Shanghai were sampled during the summer of 2008 (from Aug 27 to Sep 08). Microscopic characterization of the particles was investigated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX). Mass concentrations of Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, and Pb in the size-resolved particles were quantified by using synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence (SRXRF). Source apportionment of the chemical elements was analyzed by means of an enrichment factor method. Our results showed that the average mass concentrations of coarse particles, fine particles and ultrafine particles in the summer air were 9.38 ± 2.18, 8.82 ± 3.52, and 2.02 ± 0.41 μg/m3, respectively. The mass percentage of the fine particles accounted for 51.47% in the total mass of PM10, indicating that fine particles are the major component in the Shanghai ambient particles. SEM/EDX results showed that the coarse particles were dominated by minerals, fine particles by soot aggregates and fly ashes, and ultrafine particles by soot particles and unidentified particles. SRXRF results demonstrated that crustal elements were mainly distributed in the coarse particles, while heavy metals were in higher proportions in the fine particles. Source apportionment revealed that Si, K, Ca, Fe, Mn, Rb, and Sr were from crustal sources, and S, Cl, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, and Pb from anthropogenic sources. 3Atomic mobilities and diffusivities in Al alloys显示文摘Knowledge of diffusivity is a prerequisite for understanding many scientific and technological disciplines.In this paper,firstly major experimental methods,which are employed to provide various diffusivity data,are briefly described.Secondly,the fundamentals of various computational methods,including first-principles method,embedded atomic method/molecular dynamic simulation,semi-empirical approaches,and phenomenological DICTRA technique,are demonstrated.Diffusion models recently developed for order/disorder transitions and stoichiometric compounds are also briefly depicted.Thirdly,a newly established diffusivity database for liquid,fcc_A1,L12,bcc_A2,bcc_B2,and intermetallic phases in the multicomponent Al alloys is presented via a few case studies in binary,ternary and quaternary systems.And the integration of various computational techniques and experimental methods is highlighted.The reliability of this diffusivity database is validated by comparing the calculated and measured concentration profiles,diffusion paths,and Kirkendall shifts in various binary,ternary and quaternary diffusion couples.Next,the established diffusivity databases along with thermodynamic and other thermo-physical properties are utilized to simulate the microstructural evolution for Al alloys during solidification,interdiffusion and precipitation.A special discussion is presented on the phase-field simulation of interdiffusion microstructures in a series of Ni-Al diffusion couples composed of γ,γ',and β phases under the effects of both coherent strain and external compressive force.Future orientations in the establishment of next generation of diffusivity database are finally addressed.DU Yong ZHANG LiJun CUI SenLin ZHAO DongDong LIU DanDan ZHANG WeiBin SUN WeiHua JIE WanQi 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,2:6
4A top-down positioning scheme for underwater wireless sensor networks显示文摘In order to increase the localization coverage while keeping the localization error small in a unique network architecture in which there are not evenly distributed anchor nodes with great ability of communication or additional infrastructure,a Top-down Positioning Scheme(TPS)for underwater acoustic sensor networks is proposed.By defining node’s confidence reasonably,TPS insures the quality of the new reference nodes.TPS also refines the nodes which have just been positioned via the gradient method and helps non-localized nodes search for more reference nodes via the new scheme for 3D Euclidean distance estimation.By comparing the new scheme for 3D Euclidean distance estimation with the existing scheme,the new scheme is shown to have greater ability to estimate two-hop Euclidean distance in 3D space.Simulation results show that TPS which integrates node’s confidence defined reasonably,the gradient method,and the new scheme for 3D Euclidean distance estimation can increase the localization coverage ratio,while keeping the localization error small.ZHANG SenLin ZHANG Qiang LIU MeiQin FAN Zhen 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,3:4
5Effect of dexamethasone on intelligence and hearing in preterm infants: a meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: A meta-analysis of published randomized controlled trials investigating the longterm effect of dexamethasone on the nervous system of preterm infants.DATA SOURCES: Online literature retrieval was conducted using The Cochrane Library(from January 1993 to June 2013), EMBASE(from January 1980 to June 2013), MEDLINE(from January 1963 to June 2013), OVID(from January 1993 to June 2013), Springer(from January 1994 to June 2013) and Chinese Academic Journal Full-text Database(from January 1994 to June 2013). Key words were preterm infants and dexamethasone in English and Chinese.STUDY SELECTION: Selected studies were randomized controlled trials assessing the effect of intravenous dexamethasone in preterm infants. The quality of the included papers was evaluated and those without the development of the nervous system and animal experiments were excluded. Quality assessment was performed through bias risk evaluation in accordance with Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0 software in the Cochrane Collaboration. The homogeneous studies were analyzed and compared using Revman 5.2.6 software, and then effect model was selected and analyzed. Those papers failed to be included in the meta-analysis were subjected to descriptive analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Nervous system injury in preterm infants.RESULTS: Ten randomized controlled trials were screened, involving 1,038 subjects. Among them 512 cases received dexamethasone treatment while 526 cases served as placebo control group and blank control group. Meta-analysis results showed that the incidence of cerebral palsy, visual impairment and hearing loss in preterm infants after dexamethasone treatment within 7 days after birth was similar to that in the control group(RR = 1.47, 95%CI: 0.97–2.21; RR = 1.46, 95%CI: 0.97–2.20; RR = 0.80, 95%CI: 0.54–1.18; P > 0.05), but intelligence quotient was significantly decreased compared with the control group(MD =-3.55, 95%CI:-6.59 to-0.51; P = 0.02). Prete rm infants treated with dexamethasone 7 days after birth demonstrated an incidence of cerebral palsy and visual impairment, and changes in intelligence quotient similar to those in the control group(RR = 1.26, 95%CI: 0.89–1.79; RR = 1.37, 95%CI: 0.73–2.59; RR = 0.53, 95%CI: 0.32–0.89; RR = 1.66, 95%CI:-4.7 to 8.01; P > 0.05). However, the incidence of hearing loss was significantly increased compared with that in the control group(RR = 0.53, 95%CI: 0.32–0.89; P = 0.02).CONCLUSION: Dexamethasone may affect the intelligence of preterm infants in the early stages after birth, but may lead to hearing impairment at later stages after birth. 6Single atom and defect engineering of CuO for efficient electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4)显示文摘Electrochemical CO_(2) transformation to high‐value ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))at high currents and efficiencies is desired and yet remains a grand challenge.We show for the first time that coupling single Sb atoms and oxygen vacancies of CuO enable synergistic electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4) at low overpotentials.Highly dispersed Sb atoms occupying metal substitutional sites of CuO are synthesized under mild conditions.The overall CO_(2) reduction faradaic efficiency(FE)reaches 89.3±1.1%with an FE toward C_(2)H_(4) exceeding 58.4%at a high‐current density of 500 mA/cm^(2).Addition of the p‐block metal is found to induce transformation of CuO from flakes to nanoribbons rich in nanoholes and oxygen vacancies,greatly enhancing CO_(2) adsorption and activation while suppressing hydrogen evolution.Further density functional theory calculations with in situ X‐ray diffraction reveal that combining Sb sites and oxygen vacancies prominently lessen the dimerization energy of adsorbed CO intermediate,thus boosting the conversion of CO_(2) to produce C_(2)H_(4).This study provides a new perspective for promoting selective C-C coupling for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction.Senlin Chu Changwoo Kang Woonghyeon Park Yu Han Song Hong Leiduan Hao Hao Zhang Tsz Woon Benedict Lo Alex W.Robertson Yousung Jung Buxing Han Zhenyu Sun 2022SmartMat2022,3,1:3
7Dietary L-arginine supplementation reduces lipid accretion by regulating fatty acid metabolism in Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)显示文摘Background: Excessive white fat accumulation in humans and other animals is associated with the development of multiple metabolic diseases. It is unknown whether dietary L-arginine supplementation reduces lipid deposition in high fat diet-fed Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus).Results: In the present study, we found that dietary supplementation with 1% or 2% arginine decreased the deposition and concentration of fats in the liver;the concentrations of triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, total cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein in the serum;and the diameter of adipocytes in intraperitoneal adipose tissue. Compared with the un-supplementation control group, the hepatic activities of alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase, and lactate dehydrogenase, and hepatic concentration of malondialdehyde were reduced but these for catalase and superoxide dismutase were enhanced by dietary supplementation with 2% arginine. Arginine supplementation reduced the total amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids, while increasing the total amounts of n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the liver. These effects of arginine were associated with reductions in mRNA levels for genes related to lipogenesis(sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1, acetyl-CoA carboxylase α, stearoyl-CoA desaturase, and fatty acid synthase) but increases in mRNA levels for genes involved in fatty acid β-oxidation(carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1α and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α). 8Effects of harvesting method and date on yield loss and seed quality of rapeseed显示文摘China is one of the major rapeseed production countries in the world,but harvesting mechanization was still backward,and high harvest loss was a key inhibiting factor for rapeseed production.To obtain optimum harvesting date for winter rape in the Yangtze River Valley of China,artificial simulated combine harvesting and artificial two-stage harvesting were adopted to find correlations between harvesting date,rape variety,seed oil content,protein content,grain moisture rate,rapeseed straw moisture content,rapeseed unthreshing rate,grain drop loss rate,thousand seeds weight(TSW),and harvesting economic coefficient(HEC).Analysis of variance showed that rapeseed oil content,protein content and TSW were correlated with rape variety;HEC was correlated with harvesting method and rape variety.Rape variety was the dominant factor of rapeseed oil content,protein content,TSW and HEC.Grain moisture rate,un-threshing rate,grain drop loss rate and straw moisture content were correlated with harvesting method and date.Harvesting date was the dominant factor of rapeseed moisture rate,un-threshing rate,grain drop loss rate and straw moisture rate.Single factor tests further proved that harvesting date had less impact on rapeseed oil content,protein content,TSW and HEC.It showed little correlation with rapeseed quality except grain moisture rate.The optimum harvesting date could be known by change in straw moisture content.The combined harvesting should be carried out during the grain moisture content of 15%-20%with TSW stabilized in the highest level.The twostage harvesting cutting should be carried out at the grain moisture content of 35%-40%.This research offered a reference to harvesting method and date for rape cultivated in the Yangtze River Valley.Min Zhang Chongyou Wu Mei Jin Senlin Mu Suning Liang Qing Tang 2019Oil Crop Science2019,4,3:3
9Energy-aware routing for delay-sensitive underwater wireless sensor networks显示文摘The energy reduction is a challenging problem in the applications of underwater wireless sensor networks(UWSNs). The embedded battery is difficult to be replaced and it has an upper bound on its lifetime.Multihop relay is a popular method to reduce energy consumption in data transmission. The energy minimum path from source to destination in the sensor networks can be obtained through the shortest path algorithm.However, because of the node mobility, the global path planning approach is not suitable for the routing in UWSNs. It calls for an energy-efficient routing protocol for the high dynamic UWSNs. In this paper, we propose the modified energy weight routing(MEWR) protocol to deal with the energy-efficient routing of delaysensitive UWSNs. MEWR is a low flooding routing protocol. It can tolerate the node mobility in UWSNs and achieve a low end-to-end packet delay. MEWR can provide lower energy consumption than the existing low delay routing protocols through the dynamic sending power adjustment. 10Analysis of the relationship between bile duct and duodenal microbiota reveals that potential dysbacteriosis is the main cause of primary common bile duct stones显示文摘Bacteria play an important role in the formation of primary Common Bile Duct(CBD)stones.However,the composition and function of the microbiota of bile duct in patients with primary CBD stones remained to be explored.We utilized the 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing technology to analyze the microbial diversity and community composition of biliary and duodenal microbiota in 15 patients with primary CBD stones and 4 patients without biliary tract diseases.Alpha diversity analysis showed that the microbiota richness was similar in bile and intestinal fluid;Beta diversity analysis showed that there were differences in the composition between biliary microbiota and the duodenal microbiota,but the abundance of the main groups showed similarities.The composition of the biliary microbiota from gallstone patients was more complex,as was the duodenal microbiota.Proteobacteria and Firmicutes were the dominant bacteria at phylum level,accounting for at least 75%of the total reads in each subgroup.Pseudomonas and EscherichiaShigella were the major genus among subgroups,but Escherichia-Shigella had increased abundance in duodenal microbiota with primary choledocholithiasis,which may play an important role in stone formation.It is noteworthy that Clostridiumsensu_stricto,Lachnospiraceae_UCG-008,Butyrivibrio and Roseburia which could produce short chain fatty acids(SCFAs),were significantly decreased in biliary microbiota with primary CBD stones(p<0.05).Our study provided new insights into the compositional of normal biliary microbiota.The micro-ecology of biliary and duodenal in patients with stones is complex and closely related,and there is a potential for dysbacteriosis.The decrease in abundance of certain major acid-producing bacteria affects the health of the biliary tract and thus leads to the formation of stones.Zhitang Lyu Tingting Yu Lichao Zhang Xiaona Xu Yijun Zhang Jihong Li Zhirong Li Wei Zhang Senlin Hou 2021Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,4:2
11A low dose cell therapy system for treating osteoarthritis:In vivo study and in vitro mechanistic investigations显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)can be effective in alleviating the progression of osteoarthritis(OA).However,low MSC retention and survival at the injection site frequently require high doses of cells and/or repeated injections,which are not economically viable and create additional risks of complications.In this study,we produced MSC-laden microcarriers in spinner flask culture as cell delivery vehicles.These microcarriers containing a low initial dose of MSCs administered through a single injection in a rat anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)transection model of OA achieved similar reparative effects as repeated high doses of MSCs,as evaluated through imaging and histological analyses.Mechanistic investigations were conducted using a co-culture model involving human primary chondrocytes grown in monolayer,together with MSCs grown either within 3D constructs or as a monolayer.Co-culture supernatants subjected to secretome analysis showed significant decrease of inflammatory factors in the 3D group.RNA-seq of co-cultured MSCs and chondrocytes using Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis revealed processes relating to early chondrogenesis and increased extracellular matrix interactions in MSCs of the 3D group,as well as phenotypic maintenance in the co-cultured chondrocytes.The cell delivery platform we investigated may be effective in reducing the cell dose and injection frequency required for therapeutic applications.Bin Wang Wei Liu Jiao Jiao Li Senlin Chai Dan Xing Hongsheng Yu Yuanyuan Zhang Wenjin Yan Zhihong Xu Bin Zhao Yanan Du Qing Jiang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,1:2

15Health Monitoring of Long-Haul Fiber Communication System Using Chaotic OTDR显示文摘A novel chaotic optical time-domain reflectometry(OTDR)-based approach was proposed for monitoring long-haul fiber communication systems with multiple fiber segments. The self-phase modulation and group velocity dispersion effects of the optical cable was considered in demonstrating the proof-of-concept experiment and simulation. In experiments, the correlation peaks are clearly obtained from the correlation trace between the reference and reflected(or scattered) light signals propagating in three optical-fiber segments. The technique affords a high spatial resolution of 2 m, and further long-haul fiber simulations indicate that the sensing distance can be more than 3300 km. 16CmRAV1 shows differential expression in two melon (Cucumis melo L.) cultivars and enhances salt tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis plants显示文摘The growth and development of melon(Cucumis melo L.)are severely affected by soil salinization in many areas of the world,but the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying salt tolerance in melon remains limited.In this study,a new RAV(related to ABI3/VP1)gene,CmRAV1,was identified in melon.Protein structure homology analysis revealed that CmRAV1 contains an AP2 domain and a B3 domain,and subcellular localization assay revealed that CmRAV1 is localized in the nucleus.The transcript level of CmRAV1 was closely correlated with NaCl treatment,and the expression pattern of CmRAV1 differed between two cultivars(salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars)under NaCl treatment.In addition,yeasts transformed with CmRAV1 showed notably improved growth on medium containing 200 mM NaCl compared with wild-type ones.The overexpression of CmRAV1 in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana resulted in enhanced salt tolerance at the seed germination and seedling growth stages.This study demonstrated that the expression of CmRAV1 was associated with saline stress and can potentially be utilized to improve plant salt tolerance.Lina Zhao Furong Zhang Bin Liu Senlin Yang Xue Xiong Danial Hassani Yidong Zhang 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,11:1
17Gd_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles modified g-C_(3)N_(4) with enhanced photocatalysis activity for degradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Gd_(2) O_(3) nanoparticles modified g-C_(3) N_(4) photocatalytic composites were synthesized by a simple one-step hydrothermal method.The structure,morphology,optical properties of the prepared photocatalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),field emission transmission electron microscopy(FETEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The result demonstrates that gadolinium is mainly dispersed on the surface of g-C_(3) N_(4) in the form of Gd_(2) O_(3),and does not destroy the lattice structure of g-C_(3) N_(4).Besides,the gadolinium can cause the red shift of the absorption edge of light,narrow the band gap,and increase the separation efficiency of the photogenerated electron and hole of g-C_(3) N_(4).Especially,the specific surface area of g-C_(3) N_(4) can be significantly increased.Furthermore,g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 displays the highest photodegradation performance when it is used for degradation of methyl orange(MO),methylene blue(MB) and Rhodamine B(RhB).The photodegradation rate of g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 composites is 72.4% for MO,95.5% for RhB,100% for MB after120 min under visible light(λ> 420 nm) irradiation.Narrow band gap promotes the separation of photogenerated electron and hole,which enhances the photocatalytic activity of g-C_(3) N_(4).It is noted that g-C_(3) N_(4)/Gd-0.05 exhibits excellent photocatalytic stability by the photocurrent and the cyclic photodegradation of MO.Yipeng Zhou Fanshan Zeng Chaoyang Sun Jun Wu Yu Xie Fayun Zhang Senlin Rao Fahui Wang Jinbing Zhang Jinsheng Zhao Shiqian Li 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,11:1

19The mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 pathway involved in hepatic gluconeogenesis through peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptorγcoactivator-1a显示文摘Cattle can efficiently perform de novo generation of glucose through hepatic gluconeogenesis to meet post-weaning glucose demand.Substantial evidence points to cattle and non-ruminant animals being characterized by phylogenetic features in terms of their differing capacity for hepatic gluconeogenesis,a process that is highly efficient in cattle yet the underlying mechanism remains unclear.Here we used a variety of transcriptome data,as well as tissue and cell-based methods to uncover the mechanisms of high-efficiency hepatic gluconeogenesis in cattle.We showed that cattle can efficiently convert propionate into pyruvate,at least partly,via high expression of acyl-CoA synthetase short-chain family member 1(ACSS1),propionyl-CoA carboxylase alpha chain(PCCA),methylmalonyl-CoA epimerase(MCEE),methylmalonyl-CoA mutase(MMUT),and succinate-CoA ligase(SUCLG2)genes in the liver(P<0.01).Moreover,higher expression of the rate-limiting enzymes of gluconeogenesis,such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(PCK)and fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase(FBP),ensures the efficient operation of hepatic gluconeogenesis in cattle(P<0.01).Mechanistically,we found that cattle liver exhibits highly active mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1),and the expressions of PCCA,MMUT,SUCLG2,PCK,and FBP genes are regulated by the activation of mTORC1(P<0.001).Finally,our results showed that mTORC1 promotes hepatic gluconeogenesis in a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator 1a(PGC-1a)dependent manner.Collectively,our results not only revealed an important mechanism responsible for the quantitative differences in the efficiency of hepatic gluconeogenesis in cattle versus non-ruminant animals,but also established that mTORC1 is indeed involved in the regulation of hepatic gluconeogenesis through PGC-1a.These results provide a novel potential insight into promoting hepatic gluconeogenesis through activated mTORC1 in both ruminants and mammals.Guoyan Wang Jun Zhang Shengru Wu Senlin Qin Yining Zheng Chao Xia Huijun Geng Junhu Yao Lu Deng 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,4:1
20Phylogenetic Analysis of Morels Based on ITS and LSU Sequences显示文摘[Objectives]Fifty two strains were identified and phylogenetically analyzed to solve the current phenomenon of'synonym and homonym'in morels.[Methods]Based on the ITS and LSU sequences of ribosomal DNA,the collected 52 morel samples were sequenced,and BLAST alignment was performed by NCBI to construct phylogenetic trees.[Results]The collected morel strains were mainly divided into two major groups:namely black morel and yellow morel groups,of which the black morel group was most,mainly including Morchella sextelata,Morchella importuna,Morchella crassipes,and Morchella eximia.There were very few yellow morel strains,including M.crassipes and M.eximia.[Conclusions]This study lays a foundation for the classification and research of morel germplasm resources,and provides a powerful reference value for the research and production of high-quality morel strains.Senlin ZHU Bo CHEN Fen JIAN Zhun XIANG Qian LUO Xiaomin WANG Xu CHEN Bangxi ZHANG 2022Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,3:1
