All-optical active THz metasurfaces for ultrafast polarization switching and dynamic beam splitting显示文摘Miniaturized ultrafast switchable optical components with an extremely compact size and a high-speed response will be the core of next-generation all-optical devices instead of traditional integrated circuits, which are approaching the bottleneck of Moore’s Law.Metasurfaces have emerged as fascinating subwavelength flat optical components and devices for light focusing and holography applications. However, these devices exhibit a severe limitation due to their natural passive response. Here we introduce an active hybrid metasurface integrated with patterned semiconductor inclusions for all-optical active control of terahertz waves.Ultrafast modulation of polarization states and the beam splitting ratio are experimentally demonstrated on a time scale of 667 ps.This scheme of hybrid metasurfaces could also be extended to the design of various free-space all-optical active devices, such as varifocal planar lenses, switchable vector beam generators, and components for holography in ultrafast imaging, display, and high-fidelity terahertz wireless communication systems.Longqing Cong Yogesh Kumar Srivastava Huifang Zhang Xueqian Zhang Jiaguang Han Ranjan Singh 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:15
Anti-HBc screening in Indian blood donors:Still an unresolved issue显示文摘AIM:To study the seroprevalence of antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) in healthy blood donors negative for HBsAg and to evaluate whether anti-HBc detection could be adopted in India as a screening assay for HBV in addition to HBsAg. METHODS: A total of 1700 serum samples collected from HBsAg-negative healthy blood donors were tested for the presence of anti-HBc antibody (IgM + IgG). All samples reactive for anti-HBc antibody were then investigated for presence of anti-HBs and for liver function tests (LFTs). One hundred serum samples reactive for anti-HBc were tested for HBV DNA by PCR method. RESULTS: Out of 1700 samples tested, 142 (8.4%) blood samples were found to be reactive for anti-HBc. It was signif icantly lower in voluntary (6.9%) as compared to replacement donors (10.4%, P = 0.011). Seventy- two (50.7%) anti-HBc reactive samples were also reactive for anti-HBs with levels > 10 mIU/mL and 70 (49.3%) samples were non-reactive for anti-HBs, these units were labeled as anti-HBc-only. These 142 anti-HBc reactive units were also tested for liver function test. HBV DNA was detected in only 1 of 100 samples tested. CONCLUSION: Keeping in view that 8%-18% of donor population in India is anti-HBc reactive, inclusion of anti- HBc testing will lead to high discard rate. Anti-HBs as proposed previously does not seem to predict clearance of the virus. Cost effectiveness of introducing universalanti-HBc screening and discarding large number of blood units versus considering ID NAT (Individual donor nuclic acid testing) needs to be assessed.Hari Krishan Dhawan Neelam Marwaha Ratti Ram Sharma Yogesh Chawla Beenu Thakral Karan Saluja Sanjeev Kumar Sharma Manish K Thakur Ashish Jain 2008World Journal of Gastroenterology2008,14,34:8

Investigation of magnetoelectric effect in lead free K0.5Na0.5NbO3–BaFe12O19 novel composite system显示文摘Lead-free magnetoelectric composites(1-x)K0.5Na0.5NbO3–(x)BaFe12O19(x = 30, 40, and 50 wt%) are synthesized using solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns confirm formation of diphase composites. Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) gives information about grain size, connectivity, and microstructure of constituent phases. Dielectric parameters of composite samples are studied as a function of temperature and the transition temperatures corresponding to both the constituent phases are observed in the composite samples. Dielectric constant has been found to decrease with addition of ferrite. Room temperature multiferroic behaviour has been confirmed using P–E and M–H hysteresis loops and magnetoelectric measurement. Polarization is found to decrease;however, magnetization increases with ferrite weight percentage. The highest αME of 4.08 mV/(cm·Oe) is obtained for x = 30 wt% composite and it is realized that ferrite content significantly affects magnetoelectric behaviour.Yogesh KUMAR KLYADAV Jyoti SHAH RKKOTNALA 2019Journal of Advanced Ceramics2019,8,3:2
Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on semen quality in male partners of infertile couples: a hospitalbased observational study显示文摘The effects of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic on male fertility have received considerable attention because human testes contain high levels of angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 receptors, through which severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)can enter.Early studies showed decreases in semen quality during and after recovery from COVID-19.However,no semen quality studies have examined the effects of widespread subclinical and mild disease,as well as changes in lifestyle, psychosocial behavior, intake of dietary supplements, and stress. This cross-sectional study compared semen quality parameters in male partners of infertile couples between men who underwent semen analysis before the COVID-19 pandemic(prepandemic group)and men who underwent semen analysis during the pandemic period(pandemic group);the analysis sought to clarify the overall effects of the pandemic. No participants in the pandemic group had experienced clinically overt disease.Among the 239 participants, mean body weight(P=0.001),mean body mass index(P<0.001),median sperm concentration(P=0.014),total sperm count(P=0.006),and total percentages of motile(P=0.013)and abnormal cells(P<0.001)were significantly greater in the pandemic group(n=137)than those in the prepandemic group(n=102).Among abnormal cells, the percentages of cells with excess residual cytoplasm(P<0.001),head defects(P<0.001),and tail defects(P=0.015)were significantly greater in the pandemic group than those in the prepandemic group. With the exception of morphology, the overall semenogram results were better in the pandemic group than those in the prepandemic group.Tribhuwan Kumar Kamlesh Jha Md Zabihullah Kumari Neelu Yogesh Kumar Kumar Siddharth 2023Asian Journal of Andrology2023,25,2:2

Automatic License Plate Recognition System for Vehicles Using a CNN显示文摘Automatic License Plate Recognition(ALPR)systems are important in Intelligent Transportation Services(ITS)as they help ensure effective law enforcement and security. These systems play a significant role in border surveillance, ensuring safeguards, and handling vehicle-related crime. The most effective approach for implementing ALPR systems utilizes deep learning via a convolutional neural network(CNN).A CNN works on an input image by assigning significance to various features of the image and differentiating them from each other.CNNs are popular for license plate character recognition. However, little has been reported on the results of these systems with regard to unusual varieties of license plates or their success at night. We present an efficient ALPR system that uses a CNN for character recognition.A combination of pre-processing and morphological operations was applied to enhance input image quality, which aids system efficiency. The system has various features, such as the ability to recognize multi-line,skewed,and multifont license plates. It also works efficiently in night mode and can be used for different vehicle types. An overall accuracy of 98.13%was achieved using the proposed CNN technique.Parneet Kaur Yogesh Kumar Shakeel Ahmed Abdulaziz Alhumam Ruchi Singla Muhammad Fazal Ijaz 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,4:2
Ethanol steam reforming study over ZSM-5 supported cobalt versus nickel catalyst for renewable hydrogen generation显示文摘The renewable hydrogen generation through ethanol steam reforming is one of the anticipated areas for sustainable hydrogen generation. To elucidate the role of Ni and Co with ZSM-5 support, catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method and ethanol steam reforming(ESR) was performed. The catalysts were characterized by HR-XRD, ATR–FTIR, HR-SEM, TEM with SAED, EDAX, surface area analyzer and TPR. It had shown complete ethanol conversion at 773 K, but the selectivity in hydrogen generation was found higher for 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst as compared to 10% Co/ZSM-5. The 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst has about 72% hydrogen selectivity at temperature 873 K. It indicates that Ni is a more sustainable catalyst as compared to Co with ZSM-5 support for ESR. The C_2H_4 was found major undesirable products up to 823 K temperature. Nevertheless, the 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst had shown its stability for high temperature(873 K) ESR performance.Ashutosh Kumar Ram Prasad Yogesh Chandra Sharma 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,3:2

CFD analysis of performance improvement of the Savonius water turbine by using an impinging jet duct design显示文摘The majority of research on water turbines focuses on design improvement of large-scale hydrokinetic turbines for power generation, which may have delayed the utilization of kinetic energy contained in rivers and canals. The aim of this paper is to improve the efficiency of a two bladed Savonius type cross-flow hydrokinetic turbine, which can be used as an energy converter to harness free-stream kinetic energy of water. An impinging jet duct design is presented for improving performance of the Savonius turbine in wind application as seen from literature. The performance of the modified turbine is evaluated using CFD software Fluent, and is compared with that of a simple two bladed Savonius water turbine and some of the prominent literature designs of the Savonius turbine. It is shown that the present design exhibits improved performance compared to the selected designs of the Savonius turbine.Further an insight of the improved performance of the modified turbine is also obtained from flow physics study.Narendra Thakur Agnimitra Biswas Yogesh Kumar Mithinga Basumatary 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,4:2
