| 1 | Effects of water management on arsenic and cadmium speciation and accumulation in an upland rice cultivar显示文摘Pot and field experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of water regimes on the speciation and accumulation of arsenic(As) and cadmium(Cd) in Brazilian upland rice growing in soils polluted with both As and Cd. In the pot experiment constant and intermittent flooding treatments gave 3–16 times higher As concentrations in soil solution than did aerobic conditions but Cd showed the opposite trend. Compared to arsenate, there were more marked changes in the arsenite concentrations in the soil solution as water management shifted, and therefore arsenite concentrations dominated the As speciation and bioavailability in the soil. In the field experiment As concentrations in the rice grains increased from 0.14 to 0.21 mg/kg while Cd concentrations decreased from 0.21 to 0.02 mg/kg with increasing irrigation ranging from aerobic to constantly flooding conditions. Among the various water regimes the conventional irrigation treatment produced the highest rice grain yield of 6.29 tons/ha. The As speciation analysis reveals that the accumulation of dimethylarsinic acid(from 11.3% to 61.7%) made a greater contribution to the increase in total As in brown rice in the intermittent and constant flooding treatments compared to the intermittent-aerobic treatment. Thus, water management exerted opposite effects on Cd and As speciation and bioavailability in the soil and consequently on their accumulation in the upland rice. | 2 | Efficient Synthesis of Graphene Nanoribbons Sonochemically Cut from Graphene Sheets显示文摘We report a facile approach to synthesize narrow and long graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) by sonochemically cutting chemically derived graphene sheets (GSs). The yield of GNRs can reach ~5 wt% of the starting GSs. The resulting GNRs are several micrometers in length, with ~75% being single-layer, and ~40% being narrower than 20 nm in width. A chemical tailoring mechanism involving oxygen-unzipping of GSs under sonochemical conditions is proposed on the basis of experimental observations and previously reported theoretical calculations;it is suggested that the formation and distribution of line faults on graphite oxide and GSs play crucial roles in the formation of GNRs. | 3 | Recent Advances in Self-Supported Layered Double Hydroxides for Oxygen Evolution Reaction显示文摘Electrochemical water splitting driven by clean and sustainable energy sources to produce hydrogen is an efficient and environmentally friendly energy conversion technology.Water splitting involves hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),in which OER is the limiting factor and has attracted extensive research interest in the past few years.Conventional noble-metal-based OER electrocatalysts like IrO_(2) and RuO_(2) suffer from the limitations of high cost and scarce availability.Developing innovative alternative nonnoble metal electrocatalysts with high catalytic activity and long-term durability to boost the OER process remains a significant challenge.Among all of the candidates for OER catalysis,selfsupported layered double hydroxides(LDHs)have emerged as one of the most promising types of electrocatalysts due to their unique layered structures and high electrocatalytic activity.In this review,we summarize the recent progress on self-supported LDHs and highlight their electrochemical catalytic performance.Specifically,synthesis methods,structural and compositional parameters,and influential factors for optimizing OER performance are discussed in detail.Finally,the remaining challenges facing the development of self-supported LDHs are discussed and perspectives on their potential for use in industrial hydrogen production through water splitting are provided to suggest future research directions. | Libo Wu Luo Yu Xin Xiao Fanghao Zhang Shaowei Song Shuo Chen Zhifeng Ren | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 7 |

| 7 | Seasonal variations of night mesopause temperature in Beijing observed by SATI4显示文摘The data observed by a spectral airglow temperature imager (SATI) at Beijing National Observatory of Space Environment from July 23, 2008 to July 31, 2009 are used to study night mesopause temperature in Beijing. From variations of temperature at 87 and 94 km obtained from OH (6-2) and O2 (0-1) airglow spectra, temperature at night is shown lowest in the summer and highest in the winter. In summer, average temperature at 87 km is 173.9 K, lower than average temperature 180.1 K at 94 km. But in winter, average temperature at 87 km is 201.2 K, higher than average temperature 194.8 K at 94 km. The altitude of mesopause in Beijing is below 87 km in summer and above 94 km in winter. There are about 120-150 days when the mesopause locates below 87 km, which is in agreement with the results of SABER/TIMED. Variations of temperatures at 87 and 94 km are analyzed by harmonic method. Our results show that amplitudes of annual oscillation of temperature at 87 and 94 km are 17.5 and 7.8 K respectively. Amplitudes of semi-annual oscillation at 87 and 94 km are 1.6 and 5.3 K, which are smaller than those of annual oscil- lation. | 8 | Simultaneous evaluation of two branches of a multifunctional integrated optic chip with an ultra-simple dual-channel configuration显示文摘We propose an ultra-simple dual-channel configuration for simultaneously evaluating two branches of a multifunctional integrated optic chip(MFIOC). In the configuration, the MFIOC is employed as a beam splitter to construct the demodulation interferometer together with a 2 × 2 fiber coupler. Interference happens between polarization modes traveling through different channels of the MFIOC. The cross-couplings of each channel are respectively characterized by the interference peaks which distribute on opposite sides of the central interference peak. Temperature responses of the MFIOC are experimentally measured from-40°C to 80°C. Results show that the proposed configuration can achieve simultaneous dual-channel transient measurements with resolution of-90 d B and dynamic range of 90 d B.
