1Three Tier Fog Networks: Enabling IoT/5G for Latency Sensitive Applications显示文摘Following the progression in Internet of Things(IoT) and 5G communication networks, the traditional cloud computing model have shifted to fog computing. Fog computing provides mobile computing, network control and storage to the network edges to assist latency critical and computation-intensive applications. Moreover, security features are improved in fog paradigm by processing critical data on edge devices instead of data centres outside the control plane of users. However, fog network deployment imposes many challenges including resource allocation, privacy of users, non-availability of programming model and testing software and support for the heterogenous networks. This article highlights these challenges and their potential solutions in detail. This article also discusses threetier fog network architecture, its standardization and benefits in detail. The proposed resource allocation mechanism for three tier fog networks based on swap matching is described. Results show that by practicing the proposed resource allocation mechanism, maximum throughput with reduced latency is achieved.Romana Shahzadi Ambreen Niaz Mudassar Ali Muhammad Naeem Joel J.P.C.Rodrigues Farhan Qamar Syed Muhammad Anwar 2019China Communications2019,16,3:6
3Reporting and understanding the safety and adverse effect profile of mobile apps for psychosocial interventions: An update显示文摘Recent years have seen a rapidly increasing trend towards the delivery of health technology through mobile devices. Smartphones and tablet devices are thus becoming increasingly popular for accessing information and a wide range of services, including health care services. Modern mobile apps can be used for a variety of reasons, ranging from education for the patients and assistance to clinicians to delivery of interventions. Mobile phone apps have also been established to benefit patients in a scope of interventions across numerous medical specialties and treatment modalities. Medical apps have their advantages and disadvantages. It is important that clinicians have access to knowledge to make decisions regarding the use of medical apps on the basis of risk-benefit ratio. Mobile apps that deliver psycho social interventions offer unique challenges and opportunities. A number of reviews have highlighted the potential use of such apps. There is a need to describe, report and study their side effects too. The adverse effects associated with these apps can broadly be divided into:(1) those resulting from the security and safety concerns;(2) those arising from the use of a particular psycho social intervention; and(3) those due to the interaction with digital technology. There is a need to refine and reconsider the safety and adverse effects in this area. The safety profile of a mobile PSI app should describe its safety profile in:(1) privacy and security;(2) adverse effects of psychotherapy; and(3) adverse effects unique to the use of apps and the internet. This is, however, a very new area and further research and reporting is required to inform clinical decision making.Farooq Naeem Nadeem Gire Shuo Xiang Megan Yang Yumeen Syed Farhad Shokraneh Clive Adams Saeed Farooq 2016World Journal of Psychiatry2016,6,2:3

7Liquidity connectedness in cryptocurrency market显示文摘We examine the dynamics of liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency market. We use the connectedness models of Diebold and Yilmaz(Int J Forecast 28(1):57–66,2012)and Baruník and Křehlík(J Financ Econom 16(2):271–296,2018)on a sample of six major cryptocurrencies, namely,Bitcoin(BTC),Litecoin(LTC),Ethereum(ETH),Ripple(XRP),Monero(XMR),and Dash. Our static analysis reveals a moderate liquidity connectedness among our sample cryptocurrencies, whereas BTC and LTC play a significant role in connectedness magnitude.A distinct liquidity cluster is observed for BTC,LTC,and XRP,and ETH,XMR,and Dash also form another distinct liquidity cluster. The frequency domain analysis reveals that liquidity connectedness is more pronounced in the short-run time horizon than the medium-and long-run time horizons. In the short run,BTC,LTC,and XRP are the leading contributor to liquidity shocks, whereas,in the long run,ETH assumes this role.Compared with the medium term,a tight liquidity clustering is found in the short and long terms. The time-varying analysis indicates that liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency market increases over time, pointing to the possible effect of rising demand and higher acceptability for this unique asset.Furthermore, more pronounced liquidity connectedness patterns are observed over the short and long run, reinforcing that liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency market is a phenomenon dependent on the time–frequency connectedness.Mudassar Hasan Muhammad Abubakr Naeem Muhammad Arif Syed Jawad Hussain Shahzad Xuan Vinh Vo 2022Financial Innovation2022,8,1:1

11On Hiding Secret Information in Medium Frequency DCT Components Using Least Significant Bits Steganography显示文摘This work presents a new method of data hiding in digital images,in discrete cosine transform domain. The proposed method uses the least significant bits of the medium frequency components of the cover image for hiding the secret information, while the low and high frequency coefficients are kept unaltered. The unaltered low frequency DCT coefficients preserves the quality of the smooth region of the cover image, while no changes in the high DCT coefficient preserve the quality of the edges. As the medium frequency components have less contribution towards energy and image details,so the modification of these coefficients for data hiding results in high quality stego images. The distortion due to the changes in the medium frequency coefficients is insignificant to be detected by the human visual system. The proposed methods demonstrated a hiding capacity of 43:11%with the stego image quality of a peak signal to the noise ration of 36:3 dB,which is significantly higher than the threshold of 30 dB for a stego image quality. The proposed technique is immune to steganalysis and has proved to be highly secured against both spatial and DCT domain steganalysis techniques.Sahib Khan M A Irfan Arslan Arif Syed Tahir Hussain Rizvi Asma Gul Muhammad Naeem Nasir Ahmad 2019Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2019,,3:0
12Evaluation of state and community/private forests in Punjab, Pakistan using geospatial data and related techniques显示文摘Background: Forests are fundamental in maintaining water supplies, providing economic goods, mitigating climate change, and maintaining biodiversity, thus providing many of the world's poorest with income, food and medicine.Too often, forested lands are treated as 'wastelands' or 'free' and are easily cleared for agricultural and infrastructure expansion. Methods: In this paper, the sustainability of two forest ecosystems(state and community/private owned) was evaluated using SPOT-5 satellite images of 2005 and 2011. This study was conducted in a sub-watershed area covering 468 km2, of which 201 km2 is managed by the state and 267 km2 by community/private ownership in the Murree Galliat region of Punjab Province of Pakistan. A participatory approach was adopted for the delineation and demarcation of forest boundaries. The Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis(GEOBIA) technique was used for identification and mapping of ten Land Cover(LC) features. Results: The results show that between the years 2005 to 2011, a total of 55 km2(24 km2 in state-owned forest and 31km2 in community/private forest) was converted from forest to non-forest. The conclusion is that conservation is more effective in state-owned forests than in the community/private forests. Conclusions: These findings may help to mobilize community awareness and identify effective initiatives for improved management of community/private forest land for other regions of Pakistan.Naeem Shahzad Urooj Saeed Hammad Gilani Sajid Rashid Ahmad Irfan Ashraf Syed Muhammad Irteza 2015Forest Ecosystems2015,2,2:0
13Health behavior outcomes in stroke survivors prescribed wearables for atrial fibrillation detection stratified by age显示文摘BACKGROUND Smartwatches have become readily accessible tools for detecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited data on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and engagement in older adults. We examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed smartwatches for AF detection stratified by age.METHODS We analyzed data from the Pulsewatch study,a randomized controlled trial that enrolled patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and CHA2DS2-VASc≥2.Intervention participants were equipped with a cardiac patch monitor and a smartwatch-app dyad, while control participants wore the cardiac patch monitor for up to 44 days.We evaluated health behavior parameters using standardized tools, including the Consumer Health Activation Index, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder questionnaire, the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey, and wear time of participants categorized into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed statistical analysis using a mixedeffects repeated measures linear regression model to examine differences amongst age groups.RESULTS Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and 3 revealed no significant differences in anxiety, patient activation, perception of physical health and wear time. The use of smartwatch technology was associated with a decrease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors demonstrated a willingness to use smartwatches for AF monitoring.Importantly, among these study participants, the majority did not experience negative health behavior outcomes or decreased engagement as age increased.Joanne Mathew Jordy Mehawej Ziyue Wang Taylor Orwig Eric Ding Andreas Filippaios Syed Naeem Edith Mensah Otabil Alex Hamel Kamran Noorishirazi IrinaRadu Jane Saczynski David D.McManus Khanh-Van Tran 2024Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2024,21,3:0
