| 2 | 无贵金属光催化剂VC/CdS纳米线将苯甲醇选择性氧化为苯甲醛并产氢显示文摘太阳能制氢作为一种绿色、实用、可再生的能源生产技术越来越受到人们的关注.传统的光解水产氢通常用三乙醇胺、硫化钠/亚硫酸钠、乳酸、甲醇、抗坏血酸和甲醇等做牺牲剂,这些试剂的加入不仅会污染环境,还会增加制氢成本.而目前完全无牺牲剂体系的产氢效率普遍较低,使得发展经济绿色的牺牲剂体系尤为迫切.通过光催化在单一水性体系中同时生产可储存和可再生的氢气与高附加值的有机化学品是一种新兴环保的策略.本文采用简单的静电自组装和煅烧方法将碳化钒(VC)和CdS纳米线(NW)复合形成VC/CS.结果表明,与原始的CdS NWs相比,负载适量VC的CdS NWs的光催化活性显著提高.然而,同时促进光解水产氢和苯甲醇选择性氧化的机理仍需要进一步探究.X射线衍射谱、高倍透射电子显微镜、扫描透射电子显微镜以及光电子能谱结果表明,VC和CdS NW是紧密结合的,且Cd,S,C和V元素均匀分布,由于两者之间的紧密结合引起了催化剂颜色变化.紫外可见光谱(UV-Vis)结果表明,样品的光吸收范围增大,但吸收带边没有发生明显改变.当采用Na_(2)S·9H_(2)O和Na_(2)SO_(3)做牺牲剂时,VC/CS的产氢活性明显高于Pt负载的CdS,说明VC是一种非常有利于产氢的非贵金属助催化剂.当改用苯甲醇(BO)做牺牲剂时,产氢速率明显增加,同时苯甲醇选择性氧化成苯甲醛(BD).进一步增加VC的负载量,样品产氢活性先增加后减小;当VC的负载量达到15%(VC/CS-15)时,在可见光(λ>420 nm)照射2 h后产氢效率达到20.5 mmol g^(–1) h^(–1),BO转化率为41%,BD选择性超过99%,约为CdS NW的661倍.将光活性测试时间由2 h延长至4 h,BO转化率由41%提高到58%,但BD选择性降至88%.样品VC/CS-15上BD和H_(2)生成趋势与UV-Vis漫反射光谱结果一致,表明反应是通过光催化过程进行的.此外,VC/CS-15在单色420 nm处产生BD和H_(2)的表观量子效率约为7.5%.光催化活性的增强是由于VC的加入降低了样品的Zeta电位,使其对BO具有更强的吸附作用,同时VC在CdS NWs上的牢固附着为质子还原提供了更多的活性位点,通过减少电荷传输距离和提供更宽的电子传输通道来增强光生电子的传输.综上,本文设计的同时产氢和生成高附加值有机化学品的方法光解水产氢提供了新思路. | Muhammad Tayyab 刘玉洁 敏世雄 Rana Muhammad Irfan 朱乔虹 周亮 雷菊英 张金龙 | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Catalysis2022,43,4: | 1 |
| 3 | Unfolding the structural features of NASICON materials for sodium-ion full cells显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are potential candidates for the replacement of lithium-ion batteries to meet the increasing demands of electrical storage systems due to the low cost and high abundance of sodium.Sodium superionic conductor(NASICON)structured materials have attracted enormous interest in recent years as electrode materials for safer and long-term performance of SIBs for electric energy storage smart grids.These materials have a threedimensional robust framework,high redox potential,thermal stability,and a fast Na^(+)-ion diffusion mechanism.However,NASICON has low intrinsic electronic conductivity,which limits the electrochemical performance.This review describes the structural features of NASICONs to illustrate the ion storage mechanism and electrochemical performance of SIBs.Details of the NASICON crystal structure,the affiliated Na^(+)-ion diffusion mechanism,morphology,and electrochemical performance of these materials in sodiumion half-cells as well as full cells are described.In addition to the application as electrode materials,the use of NASICONs as solid electrolytes is also elaborated in solid-state SIBs.Based on these aspects,we have provided more perspectives in terms of the commercialization of SIBs and strategies to overcome the limitations of NASICONs.Hence,this review is expected to provide the researchers of energy storage with an in-depth understanding of NASICON materials with the knowledge of structural features,which will provide a new avenue on the practicality of SIBs. | Muhammad Tayyab Ahsan Zeeshan Ali Muhammad Usman Yanglong Hou | 2022 | Carbon Energy2022,4,5: | 1 |

| 5 | Effects of drug-polymer dispersions on solubility and in vitro diffusion of artemisinin across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane显示文摘Artemisinin(ART) is a sesquiterpene lactone with an endo-peroxide bridge that is thought to be responsible for its antimalarial activity.It has low oral bioavailability because of aqueous insolubility,which leads to local toxicity at the site of aggregation.The present work focused on increasing its solubility and evaluating its permeation across a model membrane to mimic transdermal delivery that bypasses the hepatic metabolism.For this purpose,physical mixtures(PM),solid dispersions(SD) and lyophilized dispersions(LD) with different drug-polymer ratios(1:0.5,1:1,1:2,1:4 and 1:9) were prepared using the hydrophilic polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).Drug-polymer dispersions were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Solubility was measured in three solvents:de-ionized water,phosphate buffered saline(PBS) and methanol.The toluene-water partition coefficient was evaluated and compared with the literature and calculated logP values.In vitro diffusion of ART was studied across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane from a saturated solution of drug-polymer dispersions.XRD patterns showed a gradual decrease in crystallinity of ART with increasing polymer concentration,while FTIR confirmed no interactions between ART and PVP.Solubility was increased up to 4-,5-and 8-fold for LD in water,PBS and methanol,respectively.The logP for toluene-water was 2.65 ± 0.3,which is in good agreement with literature and calculated logP values.Permeation was enhanced,which is attributed to the decrease in crystallinity and increase in wettability of the drug.The ART flux was significantly higher than that of pure ART(0.12 ± 0.01) with increasing PVP concentration for SD and LD formulations.In conclusion,drug-polymer dispersions with PVP improve the pharmaceutical properties of ART in the order LD>SD>PM. | SHAHZAD Yasser SHAH Syed Nisar Hussain ANSARI Muhammad Tayyab RIAZ Romana SAFDAR Aasma HUSSAIN Talib MALIK Madeeha | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,14: | 1 |
| 6 | Countrywide Survey for MERS-Coronavirus Antibodies in Dromedaries and Humans in Pakistan显示文摘Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a zoonotic pathogen capable of causing severe respiratory disease in humans. Although dromedary camels are considered as a major reservoir host, the MERS-CoV infection dynamics in camels are not fully understood. Through surveillance in Pakistan, nasal (n = 776) and serum (n = 1050)samples were collected from camels between November 2015 and February 2018. Samples were collected from animal markets, free-roaming herds and abattoirs. An in-house ELISA was developed to detect IgG against MERS-CoV. A total of 794 camels were found seropositive for MERS-CoV. Prevalence increased with the age and the highest seroprevalence was recorded in camels aged [ 10 years (81.37%) followed by those aged 3.1–10 years (78.65%) and B 3 years (58.19%).Higher prevalence was observed in female (78.13%) as compared to male (70.70%). Of the camel nasal swabs, 22 were found to be positive by RT-qPCR though with high Ct values. Moreover, 2,409 human serum samples were also collected from four provinces of Pakistan during 2016–2017. | 8 | Effect of thermomechanical cyclic quenching and tempering treatments on microstructure,mechanical and electrochemical properties of AISI 1345 steel显示文摘Thermomechanical cyclic quenching and tempering(TMCT)can strengthen steels through a grain size reduction mechanism.The effect of TMCT on microstructure,mechanical,and electrochemical properties of AISI 1345 steel was investigated.Steel samples heated to 1050℃,rolled,quenched to room temperature,and subjected to various cyclic quenching and tempering heat treatments were named TMCT-1,TMCT-2,and TMCT-3 samples,respectively.Microstructure analysis revealed that microstructures of all the treated samples contained packets and blocks of well-refined lath-shaped martensite and retained austenite phases with varying grain sizes(2.8–7.9μm).Among all the tested samples,TMCT-3 sample offered an optimum combination of properties by showing an improvement of 40%in tensile strength and reduced 34%elongation compared with the non-treated sample.Nanoindentation results were in good agreement with mechanical tests as the TMCT-3 sample exhibited a 51%improvement in indentation hardness with almost identical reduced elastic modulus compared with the non-treated sample.The electrochemical properties were analyzed in 0.1 M NaHCO_(3) solution by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.As a result of TMCT,the minimum corrosion rate was 0.272 mm/a,which was twenty times less than that of the nontreated sample.The impedance results showed the barrier film mechanism,which was confirmed by the polarization results as the current density decreased. | Muhammad Arslan Hafeez Ameeq Farooq Kaab Bin Tayyab and Muhammad Adnan Arshad | 2021 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2021,28,4: | 1 |

| 10 | A standard formulation for the installation of suction caissons in sand显示文摘Suction assisted installation of caisson foundations in sand relies on the developed seepage around the caisson wall.Seepage is known to produce soil loosening inside the caisson cavity and an overall reduction in soil resistance to caisson penetration.On the other hand,suction must be controlled so that no excessive piping is induced within the sand volume trapped inside the caisson cavity.When it extends over the full embedded length of the caisson wall,piping may lead to the formation of piping channels,which may compromise the established seal between caisson and soil and ultimately cause the installation process to stop.A safe installation process requires a proper design procedure to ensure that a safe suction can be predicted prior to installation.The present paper provides a framework where analytical expressions are obtained for the required suction magnitude,and for the critical suction that causes piping to initiate at the caisson tip.These analytical expressions are derived for a normalized caisson geometry,based on compiled results obtained from finite element analysis of seepage around a caisson wall,at various installation depths.The developed analytical formulation applies independently of caisson dimensions such as diameter,height and wall thickness.Critical suction for piping condition is also obtained under analytical form as a function of normalized penetration depth.The developed formulation can also be easily incorporated into design procedures or used in design codes without a need for a preliminary seepage analysis to be undertaken.The proposed suction predictions for the whole process of caisson installation in sand are validated against field trials reported in the literature. | Ayed Eid Alluqmani Muhammad Tayyab Naqash Ouahid Harireche | 2019 | Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science2019,4,4: | 0 |

| 14 | An Empirical Analysis of Defense-Economic Growth Relationship显示文摘Most of the developing and developed countries try to make peace and promote it but still it is seen that large portion of the overall global GDP is spent on the defense sector. This study surveys defense-growth nexus by incorporating openness to trade, external debt, gross capital formation and labor force in production function. The study uses annual time series data over the period 1972-2016. For estimation purposes, the study employed ADF unit root test and P-P unit root test for testing stationarity properties, ARDL Bound test to cointegration used for testing long run relationship. The empirical evidence of the study reveals that Economic growth is positively affected by spending on defense sector, capital investments, labor force, and openness to trade in long run while external debt has a negative effect on economic growth. Apart from this, empirical evidence also suggests that in short run;there is positive imperative role of capital investment, defense spending, and openness to trade in growth process, while external debt retards the pace of economic growth. | 19 | Determination of quality of life in patients with chronic renal disease undergoing hemodialysis;a tertiary care experience显示文摘Objective: Our objective is to determine the Quality of Life (QoL) in chronic renal disease patients, to evaluate the pros and cons of dialysis in improving the QoL and to suggest an improved system of healthcare services provided to the patients. Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD), also known as chronic renal disease, is a progressive loss in renal function over a period of months or years. In medicine, Dialysis is a process for removing waste and excess water from the blood, and is used primarily as an artificial replacement for lost kidney function in people with renal failure. Chronic renal disease has many complications which can decrease the QoL. Material and methods: A prospective case control study was conducted on 40 patients admitted to urology department of Mayo Hospital, Lahore for hemodylasis. Data was collected on a preformed questionnaire of WHO about QoL. Some demographic variables like age, education and income of the patient were added to the standard WHO QoL questionnaire. Results: WHO QoL questionnaire for both case and control groups had a significant p-value in four domains including overall QoL (p = 0.001), physical health (p = 0.001), psychological health (p = 0.001) and environmental health (p = 0.001). Conclusion: CKD treatment and in particular dialysis can decrease the QoL due to multiple effects.
