4Qualitatively and quantitatively assessing the aggregation ability of sludge during aerobic granulation process combined XDLVO theory with physicochemical properties显示文摘Inexact mechanism of aerobic granulation still impedes optimization and application of aerobic granules. In this study, the extended Derjaguin, Landau, Verwey, and Overbeek(XDLVO) theory and physicochemical properties were combined to assess the aggregation ability of sludge during aerobic granulation process qualitatively and quantitatively. Results show that relative hydrophobicity of sludge and polysaccharide content of extracellular polymeric substances(EPS) increased, while electronegativity of sludge decreased during acclimation phase. After 20 days' acclimation, small granules began to form due to high aggregation ability of sludge. Since then, coexisted flocs and granules possessed distinct physicochemical properties during granulation and maturation phase. The relative hydrophobicity decreased while electronegativity increased for flocs, whereas that for granules presented reverse trend. Through analyzing the interaction energy using the XDLVO theory, small granules tended to self-grow rather than self-aggregate or attach of flocs due to poor aggregation ability between flocs and granules during the granulation phase. 5Mechanisms and molecular approaches for heat tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa L.) under climate change scenario显示文摘Rice, a staple cereal crop in many parts of the world, has been confronted with multiple environmental stresses including high temperature, negatively impacts the booting as well as anthesis growth stages. The situation is further complicated by the changing climatic conditions, resulting in gradual escalation of temperature as well as changing the rainfall pattern and frequency, thus raising a concern of food security worldwide. The situation can be combat by developing rice varieties with excellent genetics with improved morpho-physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms, together can minimize the adverse effects of heat stress. Here, several strategies(encompassing genetic and genomic, and mechanisms involved) for mitigating the impact of high temperature on rice have been discussed. 6Mechanical strength of wheat grain varieties influenced by moisture content and loading rate显示文摘Mechanical shear resistance of wheat grain is a significant concern for the designers and researchers related to the design of threshing,handling and processing machinery of the field crops.The grain mechanical properties directly affect the machine geometry and its operational parameters.The present study was carried out to determine the shear resistance of five wheat varieties(Locally names;TD-02,Sindhu-1105,Benazir,China and SKD-118)influenced by moisture content(16.7%,18.7%and 19.5%)and loading rate(3 mm/s,6 mm/s and 9 mm/s).However,some physio-dimensional properties(length,width,thickness,slenderness ratio,surface area and sphericity)were obtained at different moisture contents.The results showed that the shear resistance reduced by increasing the moisture content and loading rate.The average shear resistance decreased from 10.45 N to 3.74 N for 3-9 mm/s loading rate at moisture content of 16.7%to 19.5%.Thus,the maximum correlation(r=0.905)of shear resistance obtained at 16.7%,whereas minimum correlation(r=0.692)obtained at 19.5%.The shear resistance of wheat grain was highly significant(p<0.05)at 9 mm/s for 19.5%.Shear resistance decreased with an increase in the moisture content in the grain whereas deformation is increasing with the increase of moisture content.However,the maximum bulk density of wheat grain obtained at 19.5%for SKD-118,while the minimum obtained at 16.7%for TD-02.It is recommended that the design and modification of wheat grain processing equipment should be executed on the physio-mechanical properties of grain varieties.Yaoming Li Farman Ali Chandio Zheng Ma Imran Ali Lakhiar Abdul Razaque Sahito Fiaz Ahmad Irshad Ali Mari Umer Farooq Muhammad Suleman 2018International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4:4

8Luminous composite ultrathin films of CdTe quantum dots/silk fibroin co-assembled with layered doubled hydroxide:Enhanced photoluminescence and biosensor application显示文摘Quantum dots(QDs)luminescent films are extensively applied to optoelectronics and optical devices.However,QDs aggregation results in the quenching of their fluorescence property which limits their practical applications to a greater extent.In order to resolve this issue,3-mercaptopropionic acid(3-MPA)functionalized Cadmium Tellurium(CdTe)QDs were stabilized by silk fibroin(SB)and coassembled with layered doubled hydroxide(LDH)to form(QDs@SF/LDH)_(n)ultrathin films(UTFs)via the layer-by-layer(LBL)technique.UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy showed a stepwise and normal growth of the films upon increasing the number of deposition cycles.XRD and AFM studies confirmed the formation of a periodic layered structure and regular surface morphology of the thin films.As compared to(CdTe QDs/LDH)_(n)UTFs,the(CdTe QDs@SF/LDH)_(n)UTFs displayed fluorescence enhancement and longer fluorescent lifetime,both in solid states and aqueous solutions.Furthermore compared with the solution state,the fluorescence enhancement of SF-RC and SF-β are,respectively,7 times and 17 times in the(CdTe QDs@SF/LDH)_(n)UTFs,indicating that the LDH nanosheets favor the fluorescence enhancement effect on the CdTe QDs@SF.The fabricated materials displayed fluorescence response to a biological molecule such as immune globulin,lgG.Thus,the(CdTe QDs@SF/LDH)_(n)UTFs has a potential to be used as biosensor.Muhammad Sohail Haroone Ling Li Aftab Ahmad Yaping Huang Ruili Ma Ping Zhang Yuehua Hu Qari Muhammad Kaleem Jun Lu 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,2:3

10Investigating the trip configured causal effect of distracted driving on aggressive driving behavior for e-hailing taxi drivers显示文摘Risky driving behavior of taxi drivers typically evaluated for full operation or sometimes sorted into occupied and empty running trips.In this paper,we simultaneously analyze aggressive driving and distracted driving of taxi drivers under three different trip categories.Trip origin is considered a transition from without ride-order to with ride-order travelling or from with ride-order to occupied travelling,and a destination as a transition from occupied to without ride-order travelling and vice versa.Distracted driving is characterized by driver interference,driver mobile use and some entertainment aspects,while specific harmful and risky actions are considered for aggressive driving.High-resolution and real-time kinematic parameters of taxis were recorded by the in-vehicle recorder VBOX for overall 562 trips.The distracted driving parameters and aggressive driving actions were monitored through python data collector web application that was specially programmed for this particular research.Besides dual dash cam(i.e.,front and inside car camera),drivers’ whole day driving history from their Chinese ride-hailing Di Di smart application was used to differentiate occupied trips,unoccupied trips with ride-order and unoccupied trips without ride-order.Structural equation modeling(SEM) is practiced in this paper to understand the influence of distracted driving indicators on aggressive driving behaviors.The multi-group model analysis of SEM indicated that handling distracted risky driving could control aggressive driving behavior up to 96% and 98% inunoccupied without ride-order trips and unoccupied trips with ride-order respectively.The model has also identified the sensitive risky driving indicators for each group separately.Muhammad Sajjad Ansar Yongfeng Ma Shuyan Chen Kun Tang Ziyu Zhang 2021Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2021,8,5:3
11Gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in Helicobacter pyloriinfected pediatric patients in central China:A single-center,retrospective investigation显示文摘BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infects about 50%of the world population and is the major cause of chronic gastritis,peptic ulcers,and gastric cancer.Chronic H.pylori infection induces gastric mucosal precancerous lesions mostly in adulthood,and it is debatable whether these pathological conditions can occur in childhood and adolescents as well.Since this is a critical issue to determine if intervention should be offered for this population group,we investigated the gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in pediatric patients in an area in central China with a high prevalence of H.pylori and gastric cancer.AIM To investigate the relationship of H.pylori infection and gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in children and adolescents in central China.METHODS We screened 4258 ward-admitted children and adolescent patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms,and finally enrolled 1015 pediatric patients with H.pylori infection and endoscopic and histological data.H.pylori infection status was determined by rapid urease test and histopathological examination.Both clinical and pathological data were collected and analyzed retrospectively.Occurrence of gastric mucosal precancerous lesions,inflammatory activity and degree of inflammatory cell infiltration between H.pylori-positive and-negative groups were compared.RESULTS Among the 1015 eligible children and adolescents,the overall H.pylori infection rate was 84.14%(854/1015).The infection rate increased with age.The incidence of gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in H.pylori-infected children was 4.33%(37/854),which included atrophic gastritis(17 cases),intestinal metaplasia(11 cases)and dysplasia(9 cases).In H.pylori-negative patients,only 1 atrophic gastritis case[0.62%,(1/161)]was found(P<0.05).Active inflammation in H.pyloriinfected patients was significantly higher than that in non-infected patients,and the H.pyloriinfected group showed more severe lymphocyte and neutrophil granulocyte infiltration(P<0.001).In addition,endoscopy revealed that the most common findings in H.pylori-positive patients were antral nodularity,but in H.pylori-negative patients only superficial gastritis was observed.CONCLUSION In children and adolescents,gastric mucosal precancerous lesions occurred in 4.33%of H.pyloriinfected patients in central China.These cases included atrophic gastritis,intestinal metaplasia,and dysplasia.The data revealed an obvious critical issue requiring future investigation and intervention for this population group.Miao Yu Jing Ma Xiao-Xia Song Qiao-Qiao Shao Xue-Chun Yu Muhammad Noman Khan Ya-Bin Qi Ruo-Bing Hu Pei-Ru Wei Wei Xiao Bai-Ling Jia Yan-Bo Cheng Ling-Fei Kong Chuan-Liang Chen Song-Ze Ding 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,28:2

13Detrital apatite fission track constraints on Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China: Evidence from Cenozoic strata in Lulehe section, Northern Qaidam Basin显示文摘The Northern Qaidam Basin is located at the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. It contains very thick Cenozoic terrestrial clastic sediments, which records the formation of the northern Qaidam Basin due to compressional deformation during the Indo-Asian collision. In this paper, we used detrital apatite fission-track thermochronology, including 4 sandstones and 2 conglomerates samples from the Lulehe section, to reveal the Cenozoic evolution of the northern Qaidam Basin. Fission-track dating indicated the source region of the Lulehe section has experiencedimportant cooling and uplifting in the Late Cretaceous(at ~85.1 Ma and ~65 Ma) and the Eocene(~52 Ma), respectively. The AFT age distribution on the section suggested that the provenance of Lulehe section sediments were mainly derived from the south Qilian Shan(Qilian Mountains) and Altun Shan(Altun Mountains), and two significantly provenance changes may occur at 43.4-46.1 Ma and ~37.8 Ma, respectively. 14Cobalt protoporphyrin-induced nano-self-assembly for CT imaging,magnetic-guidance,and antioxidative protection of stem cells in pulmonary fibrosis treatment显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)transplantation is a promising approach for pulmonary fibrosis(PF),however it is impeded by several persistent challenges,including the lack of long-term tracking,low retention,and poor survival of MSCs,as well as the low labeling efficiency of nanoprobes.Herein,a cobalt protoporphyrin IX(CoPP)aggregation-induced strategy is applied to develop a multifunctional nano-self-assembly(ASCP)by combining gold nanoparticle(AuNPs),superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles(SPIONs),and CoPP through a facile solvent evaporation-driven approach.Since no additional carrier materials are employed during the synthesis,high loading efficiency of active ingredients and excellent biocompatibility are achieved.Additionally,facile modification of the ASCPs with bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne(BCN)groups(named as ASCP-BCN)enables them to effectively label MSCs through bioorthogonal chemistry.The obtained ASCP-BCN could not only help to track MSCs with AuNP-based computed tomography(CT)imaging,but also achieve an SPIONs-assisted magnetic field based improvement in the MSCs retention in lungs as well as promoted the survival of MSCs via the sustained release of CoPP.The in vivo results demonstrated that the labeled MSCs improved the lung functions and alle-viated the fibrosis symptoms in a bleomycin–induced PF mouse model.Collectively,a novel ASCP-BCN multi-functional nanoagent was developed to bioorthogonally-label MSCs with a high efficiency,presenting a promising potential in the high-efficient MSC therapy for PF.Yimeng Shu Ming Ma Xiaoxia Pan Muhammad Shafiq Huizhu Yu Hangrong Chen 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,3:2

17Adaptation of Drosophila species to climate change——A literature review since 2003显示文摘Global climate warming has been exerting impacts on agricultural pests. Pests also take some strategies to adapt to climate change. Understanding such adaptation could benefit more accurate predictions and integrated management of pest. However, adaptation to climate change has not been widely investigated in agricultural pests but has been well documented in model species, Drosophila, and reviewed by Hoffmann before 2003. To provide recent progress and references for agricultural entomologists who interested in thermal biology, here we have reviewed literatures since 2003 about adaptation to temperature changes under climate change. We mainly summarized thermal adaptation of Drosophila(especially to high temperatures) from three aspects, behaviors, plastic responses and micro-evolution and discussed how Drosophila increases their heat tolerance through these three mechanisms. Finally, we summarized the measures of thermotolerance and concluded the main progress in recent decade about the behavioral thermoregulation, mortality risks driven by limited evolutionary and plastic response under climate change, geographic distribution based on basal rather than plastic thermotolerance. In this study, high temperature(HT) suppressed the expression of the jasmonic acid(JA) biosynthesis gene allene oxide cyclase 2(GhAOC2), reducing JA content and causing male sterility in the cotton HT-sensitive line H05. Anther sterility was reversed by exogenous application of methyl jasmonate(MeJA) to early buds. To elucidate the role of GhAOC2 in JA biosynthesis and identify its putative contribution to the anther response to HT, we created gene knockout cotton plants using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Ghaoc2 mutant lines showed male-sterile flowers with reduced JA content in the anthers at the tetrad stage(TS), tapetum degradation stage(TDS), and anther dehiscence stage(ADS). Exogenous application of MeJA to early mutant buds(containing TS or TDS anthers) rescued the sterile pollen and indehiscent anther phenotypes, while ROS signals were reduced in ADS anthers. We propose that HT downregulates the expression of GhAOC2 in anthers, reducing JA biosynthesis and causing excessive ROS accumulation in anthers, leading to male sterility.
