1863 genomes reveal the origin and domestication of chicken显示文摘Despite the substantial role that chickens have played in human societies across the world, both the geographic and temporal origins of their domestication remain controversial. To address this issue,we analyzed 863 genomes from a worldwide sampling of chickens and representatives of all four species of wild jungle fowl and each of the five subspecies of red jungle fowl(RJF).Our study suggests that domestic chickens were initially derived from the RJF subspecies Gallus gallus spadiceus whose present-day distribution is predominantly in southwestern China, northern Thailand and Myanmar.Following their domestication, chickens were translocated across Southeast and South Asia where they interbred locally with both RJF subspecies and other jungle fowl species. In addition, our results show that the White Leghorn chicken breed possesses a mosaic of divergent ancestries inherited from other subspecies of RJF.Despite the strong episodic gene flow from geographically divergent lineages of jungle fowls, our analyses show that domestic chickens undergo genetic adaptations that underlie their unique behavioral, morphological and reproductive traits. Our study provides novel insights into the evolutionary history of domestic chickens and a valuable resource to facilitate ongoing genetic and functional investigations of the world's most numerous domestic animal.Ming-Shan Wang Mukesh Thakur Min-Sheng Peng Yu Jiang Laurent Alain Francois Frantz Ming Li Jin-Jin Zhang Sheng Wang Joris Peters Newton Otieno Otecko Chatmongkon Suwannapoom Xing Guo Zhu-Qing Zheng Ali Esmailizadeh Nalini Yasoda Hirimuthugoda Hidayat Ashari Sri Suladari Moch Syamsul Arifin Zein Szilvia Kusza Saeed Sohrabi Hamed Kharrati-Koopaee Quan-Kuan Shen Lin Zeng Min-Min Yang Ya-Jiang Wu Xing-Yan Yang Xue-Mei Lu Xin-Zheng Jia Qing-Hua Nie Susan Joy Lamont Emiliano Lasagna Simone Ceccobelli Humpita Gamaralalage Thilini Nisanka Gunwardana Thilina Madusanka Senasige Shao-Hong Feng Jing-Fang Si Hao Zhang Jie-Qiong Jin Ming-Li Li Yan-Hu Liu Hong-Man Chen Cheng Ma Shan-Shan Dai Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan Muhammad Sajjad Khan Gamamada Liyanage Lalanie Pradeepa Silva Thi-Thuy Le Okeyo Ally Mwai Mohamed Nawaz Mohamed Ibrahim Megan Supple Beth Shapiro Olivier Hanotte Guojie Zhang Greger Larson Jian-Lin Han Dong-Dong Wu Ya-Ping Zhang 2020Cell Research2020,30,8:7
2Dog10K: an international sequencing effort to advance studies of canine domestication, phenotypes and health显示文摘Dogs are the most phenotypically diverse mammalian species, and they possess more known heritable disorders than any other non-human mammal. Efforts to catalog and characterize genetic variation across well-chosen populations of canines are necessary to advance our understanding of their evolutionary history and genetic architecture. To date, no organized effort has been undertaken to sequence the world’s canid populations. The Dog10 K Consortium(http://gffzz8e6b994fb05d4249h09vuux6cfkvo6wo5.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn kgenomes.org) is an international collaboration of researchers from across the globe who will generate 20× whole genomes from 10 000 canids in 5 years. This effort will capture the genetic diversity that underlies the phenotypic and geographical variability of modern canids worldwide. Breeds, village dogs, niche populations and extended pedigrees are currently being sequenced, and de novo assemblies of multiple canids are being constructed. This unprecedented dataset will address the genetic underpinnings of domestication, breed formation, aging, behavior and morphological variation. More generally, this effort will advance our understanding of human and canine health.Elaine A.Ostrander Guo-Dong Wang Greger Larson Bridgett M.vonHoldt Brian W.Davis Vidhya Jagannathan Christophe Hitte Robert K.Wayne Ya-Ping Zhang the Dog10K Consortium 2019National Science Review2019,6,4:3

5Reconsidering the distribution of gray wolves显示文摘When attempting to understand where domestic plants and animals were domesticated,it is essential to consider the geographic distribution of the wild ancestor. Many domestic taxa now inhabit just about every continent thanks to their human-mediated dispersal which began soon after they were incorporated into the human niche. But just because sheepGreger Larson 2017Zoological Research2017,38,3:0
6Dog10K: the International Consortium of Canine Genome Sequencing显示文摘Dogs(Canis lupus familiaris)were the frst species to enter into a domestic relationship with people[1]and are a source of fascination all over the world, not only due to their history of domestication and dispersal along with human beings[2],but also because of their diverse phenotypes and behaviors, driven by both artifcial and natural selection[3].Dogs and humans have ofen been subjected to similar selection pressures[4],and these shared evolutionary trajectories have led to the emergence of the same common disorders including heart disease, neurologic disorders, diabetes and cancer[5].Guo-Dong Wang Greger Larson Jeffrey M.Kidd Bridgett M.vonHoldt Elaine A.Ostrander Ya-Ping Zhang 2019National Science Review2019,6,4:0
7Author Correction:863 genomes reveal the origin and domestication of chicken显示文摘We apologize for a mistake in Fig.2 that was immediately identified by Edward McClure in our article published online on June 25,2020.In the labels of Fig.2a,b,the blue color should represent West Asian chickens while the brown color should depict South Asian chickens. The correct version of Fig.2 is shown below. This correction does not affect the description and conclusion of this article.Ming-Shan Wang Mukesh Thakur Min-Sheng Pen Yu Jiang Laurent Alain Francois Frantz Ming Li Jin-Jin Zhang Sheng Wang Joris Peters Newton Otieno Otecko Chatmongkon Suwannapoom Xing Guo Zhu-Qing Zheng Ali Esmailizadeh Nalini Yasoda Hirimuthugoda Hidayat Ashari Sri Suladari Moch Syamsul Arifin Zein Szilvia Kusza Saeed Sohrabi Hamed Kharrati-Koopaee Quan-Kuan She Lin Zeng Min-Min Yang Ya-Jiang Wu Xing-Yan Yang Xue-Mei Lu Xin-Zheng Jia Qing-Hua Nie Susan Joy Lamont Emiliano Lasagna Simone Ceccobelli Humpita Gamaralalage Thilini Nisanka Gunwardana Thilina Madusanka Senasige Shao-Hong Feng Jing-Fang Si Hao Zhang Jie-Qiong Jin Ming-Li Li Yan-Hu Liu Hong-Man Chen Cheng Ma Shan-Shan Dai Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan Muhammad Sajjad Khan Gamamad Liyanage Lalanie Pradeepa Silva Thi-Thuy Le Okeyo Ally Mwai Mohamed Nawaz Mohamed Ibrahim Megan Supple Beth Shapiro Olivier Hanotte Guojie Zhang Greger Larson Jian-Lin Han Dong-Dong Wu Ya-Ping Zhang 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:0
