| 1 | NS1 antigen: A new beam of light in the early diagnosis of dengue infection显示文摘Objective: To evaluate NS1 antigen detection ELISA for the early laboratory diagnosis of dengue virus infection. Methods: The present study was conducted to evaluate the overall positivity of NS1 antigen detection ELISA and its comparison with viral RNA detection via real time PCR and Ig M antibodies detection by ELISA. Results: A total of 1 270 serum samples were tested 86%(1 097/1 270) were detected positive by one or more than one diagnostic test. | 2 | Mechanical strength of wheat grain varieties influenced by moisture content and loading rate显示文摘Mechanical shear resistance of wheat grain is a significant concern for the designers and researchers related to the design of threshing,handling and processing machinery of the field crops.The grain mechanical properties directly affect the machine geometry and its operational parameters.The present study was carried out to determine the shear resistance of five wheat varieties(Locally names;TD-02,Sindhu-1105,Benazir,China and SKD-118)influenced by moisture content(16.7%,18.7%and 19.5%)and loading rate(3 mm/s,6 mm/s and 9 mm/s).However,some physio-dimensional properties(length,width,thickness,slenderness ratio,surface area and sphericity)were obtained at different moisture contents.The results showed that the shear resistance reduced by increasing the moisture content and loading rate.The average shear resistance decreased from 10.45 N to 3.74 N for 3-9 mm/s loading rate at moisture content of 16.7%to 19.5%.Thus,the maximum correlation(r=0.905)of shear resistance obtained at 16.7%,whereas minimum correlation(r=0.692)obtained at 19.5%.The shear resistance of wheat grain was highly significant(p<0.05)at 9 mm/s for 19.5%.Shear resistance decreased with an increase in the moisture content in the grain whereas deformation is increasing with the increase of moisture content.However,the maximum bulk density of wheat grain obtained at 19.5%for SKD-118,while the minimum obtained at 16.7%for TD-02.It is recommended that the design and modification of wheat grain processing equipment should be executed on the physio-mechanical properties of grain varieties. | Yaoming Li Farman Ali Chandio Zheng Ma Imran Ali Lakhiar Abdul Razaque Sahito Fiaz Ahmad Irshad Ali Mari Umer Farooq Muhammad Suleman | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4: | 4 |
| 3 | Phase-field simulation of early-stage kinetics evolution ofγ’phase in medium supersaturation Co-Al-W alloy显示文摘The early precipitation ofγ’-Co3(Al,W)phase affects the spatial distribution and kinetic evolution of precipitates for the morphology transmission effect,but the nucleation and concomitant growth are not studied still by aging experiments due to the expeditious precipitation ofγ’phase in Co-Al-W alloy.By using the phase-field simulation with sublattice free energy,the early-stage kinetics evolution ofγ’-Co3(Al,W)phase in a medium supersaturation Co-9 Al-8 W(at.%)alloy aged from 1023 K to 1173 K is investigated.The influences of aging temperature on the evolution of morphology and composition ofγ’phase,and the kinetics of nucleation and growth to coarsening are clarified.It is found that the rates of composition evolution of W inγphase are two or three times that ofγ’phase,and the W compositions inγandγ’phases show a linear relationship with time t–1/3,which means that the coarsening takes place earlier at high temperature.In addition,the equilibrium partitioning ratios indicate Al and W partition into theγ’phase and the ratios decrease with elevated temperature.The compositional variations across theγ/γ’phase interfaces suggest that low aging temperature makes the stoichiometric ratio closer to 3:1.Moreover,the precipitation evolutions from early nucleation to growth and coarsening in Co-Al-W alloy are distinguished,and the rate constants of square and cube of average particles radius increase with temperature.In later growth stage,the relationship of the square of average particles radius and time is obeyed,while the steady-state coarsening stage follows the cube law.The time exponents of particles number density at the coarsening stage are close to–1 of Kuehmann-Voorhees(KV)theory.The study demonstrates that the early-stage evolution ofγ’phase which is undiscovered in the experiment can be captured by the phase-field simulation,and the resultant kinetics laws agree well with the experimental and theoretical results. | Shujing Shi Zhengwei Yan Yongsheng Li Suleman Muhammad Dong Wang Shi Chen Shengshunjin | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,52,18: | 2 |

| 10 | Two novel variants in CYP1B1 gene: a major contributor of autosomal recessive primary congenital glaucoma with allelic heterogeneity in Pakistani patients显示文摘AIM: To find the CYP1 B1 mutations associated with primary congenital glaucoma(PCG) in Pakistani consanguineous pedigrees. METHODS: After getting informed consent, 11 consanguineous pedigrees belonging to different ethnic groups were enrolled. Detailed medical history was recorded and pedigrees were drawn. The standard ophthalmological examination was done to characterize the phenotype. Genomic DNA was extracted from 10 mL whole blood and coding exons and exon intron boundaries of CYP1 B1 gene were directly sequenced. Bioinformatics tools were used to model the mutant protein and predict the effect of novel variants on protein structure and function. RESULTS: Sequencing analysis revealed 5 different CYP1 B1 variants in 7 families(7/11; 64%), including two novel variants. A common mutation, p.R390 H was found in four families, whereas p.P437 L was found once in a family. Two novel variants, a homozygous non sense variant p.L13* and a compound heterozygous variant, p.P350 T along with p.V364 M were segregating with PCGin two families. All the patients had the variable onset and severity of the disease. The success rate of early clinical interventions was observed dependent on mutation types and position. Two different haplotypes were associated with frequently found mutation, p.R390 H. CONCLUSION: Identification of novel CYP1 B1 variants reassert the genetic heterogeneity of Pakistani PCG patients. The patients with missense mutations show severe phenotypic presentations and poor vision after surgical interventions as compare to patients with null variants. | 15 | Preliminary Seroepidemiological survey of dengue infections in Pakistan,2009-2014显示文摘Background:Dengue virus is the causative agent of dengue fever,a vector borne infection which causes selflimiting to life threatening disease in humans.A sero-epidemiological study was conducted to understand the current epidemiology of dengue virus in Pakistan which is now known as a dengue endemic country after its first reported outbreak in 1994.Methods:To investigate the prevalence of dengue virus in Pakistan during 2009-2014,a total of 9,493 blood samples were screened for the detection of anti-dengue IgM antibodies using ELISA.Clinical and demographic features available with hospital records were reviewed to ascertain mortalities related to dengue hemorrhagic shock syndrome.Results:Out of 9,493 samples tested,37%(3,504)were found positive for anti-dengue IgM antibodies.Of the seropositive cases,73.6%(2,578/3,504)were male and 26.4%(926/3,504)were female.The highest number(382/929;41.1%)of sero-positive cases was observed among the individuals of age group 31-40 years.The highest number of symptomatic cases was reported in October(46%;4,400/9,493),and the highest number of sero-positive cases among symptomatic cases was observed in November(45.7%;806/1,764).Mean annual patient incidence(MAPI)during 2009-2014 in Pakistan remained 0.30 with the highest annual patient incidence(11.03)found in Islamabad.According to the available medical case record,472 dengue related deaths were reported during 2009-2014.Conclusion:The data from earlier reports in Pakistan described the dengue virus incidence from limited areas of the country.Our findings are important considering the testing of clinical samples at a larger scale covering patients of vast geographical regions and warrants timely implementation of dengue vector surveillance and control programs.Trial registration number:It is an epidemiological research study,so trial registration is not required. | Muhammad Suleman Hyeong-Woo Lee Syed Sohail Zahoor Zaidi Muhammad Masroor Alam Nadia Nisar Uzma Bashir Aamir Salmaan Sharif Shahzad Shaukat Adnan Khurshid Mehar Angez Massab Umair Ghulam Mujtaba Rani Faryal | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 0 |
