| 4 | A Novel Automatic Classification System Based on Hybrid Unsupervised and Supervised Machine Learning for Electrospun Nanofibers显示文摘The manufacturing of nanomaterials by the electrospinning process requires accurate and meticulous inspection of related scanning electron microscope(SEM)images of the electrospun nanofiber,to ensure that no structural defects are produced.The presence of anomalies prevents practical application of the electrospun nanofibrous material in nanotechnology.Hence,the automatic monitoring and quality control of nanomaterials is a relevant challenge in the context of Industry 4.0.In this paper,a novel automatic classification system for homogenous(anomaly-free)and non-homogenous(with defects)nanofibers is proposed.The inspection procedure aims at avoiding direct processing of the redundant full SEM image.Specifically,the image to be analyzed is first partitioned into subimages(nanopatches)that are then used as input to a hybrid unsupervised and supervised machine learning system.In the first step,an autoencoder(AE)is trained with unsupervised learning to generate a code representing the input image with a vector of relevant features.Next,a multilayer perceptron(MLP),trained with supervised learning,uses the extracted features to classify non-homogenous nanofiber(NH-NF)and homogenous nanofiber(H-NF)patches.The resulting novel AE-MLP system is shown to outperform other standard machine learning models and other recent state-of-the-art techniques,reporting accuracy rate up to92.5%.In addition,the proposed approach leads to model complexity reduction with respect to other deep learning strategies such as convolutional neural networks(CNN).The encouraging performance achieved in this benchmark study can stimulate the application of the proposed scheme in other challenging industrial manufacturing tasks. | Cosimo Ieracitano Annunziata Paviglianiti Maurizio Campolo Amir Hussain Eros Pasero Francesco Carlo Morabito | 2021 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021，8，1： | 3 |
| 5 | Is human hepatocellular carcinoma a hormone-responsive tumor?显示文摘Before the positive results recently obtained with multitarget tyrosine kinase inhibitor sorafenib,there was no standard systemic treatment for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Sex hormones receptors are expressed in a significant proportion of HCC samples.Following preclinical and epidemiological studies supporting a relationship between sex hormones and HCC tumorigenesis,several randomized controlled trials (RCTs)tested the efficacy of the anti-estrogen tamoxifen as systemic treatment.Largest among these trials showed no survival advantage from the administration of tamoxifen,and the recent Cochrane systematic review produced a completely negative result.This questions the relevance of estrogen receptor-mediated pathways in HCC.However,a possible explanation for these disappointing results is the lack of proper patients selection according to sex hormones receptors expression,but unfortunately the interaction between this expression and efficacy of tamoxifen has not been studied adequately.It has been also proposed that negative results might be explained if tamoxifen acts in HCC via an estrogen receptor-independent pathway,that requires higher doses than those usually administered, but an Asian RCT conducted to assess dose-response effect was completely negative.Interesting,preliminaryresults have been obtained when hormonal treatment (tamoxifen or megestrol)has been selected according to the presence of wild-type or variant estrogen receptors respectively,but no large RCTs are available to support this strategy.Negative results have been obtained also with anti-androgen therapy.In conclusion,there is no robust evidence to consider HCC a hormone-responsive tumor.Hormonal treatments should not be part of the current management of HCC. | Massimo Di Maio Bruno Daniele Sandro Pignata Ciro Gallo Ermelinda De Maio Alessandro Morabito Maria Carmela Piccirillo Francesco Perrone | 2008 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2008，14，11： | 2 |

| 8 | The indeterminable resilience of the fascial system显示文摘The most recent information on fascial tissue indicates that there are not fascial layers, but polyhedral microvacuoles of connective tissue, which connect the body systems and, by hosting specialized cells, permit several functions, such as motor, nervous, vascular and visceral. These microvacuoles(a repetition of polyhedral units of connective fibrils) under internal or external tension change shape and can manage the movement variations, regulating different body functions and ensuring the maintenance of efficiency of the body systems. Their plasticity is based on perfect functional chaos: it is not possible to determine the motion vectors of the different fibrils, which differ in behavior and orientation; this strategy confers to the fascial continuum the maximum level of adaptability in response to the changing internal and external conditions of the cell. The present commentary deals with this concept, providing clinical examples of different disease patterns, providing contrary examples in which this adaptability does not occur, and lastly suggesting considerations for the approach to manipulative therapy of the fascial tissue.
