| 1 | Extraintestinal manifestations in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) can be really considered to be systemic diseases since they are often associated with extraintestinal manifestations,complications, and other autoimmune disorders. Indeed,physicians who care for patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, the two major forms of IBD, face a new clinical challenge every day, worsened by the very frequent rate of extraintestinal complications. | 4 | Liver angiogenesis as a risk factor for hepatocellularcarcinoma development in hepatitis C virus cirrhotic patients显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the predictive value of hepatocyte proliferation and hepatic angiogenesis for the occurrence of Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in hepatitis C virus (HCV) cirrhotic patients. METHODS: One hundred-five patients (69 males, 36 females; age range, 51-90 year; median 66 year) with biopsy proven HCV cirrhosis were prospectively monitored for HCC occurrence for a median time of 64 mo. Angiogenesis was assessed by using microvessel density (MVD), hepatocyte turnover by MIB1 and PCNA indexes at inclusion in liver biopsies. RESULTS: Forty six patients (43.8%) developed HCC after a median time of 55 (6-120) mo while 59 (56.2%) did not. Patients were divided into two groups according to the median value of each index. The difference between patients with low (median MVD = 3; range 0-20) and high (median MVD = 7; range 1-24) MVD was statistically significant (χ2 = 22.06; P < 0.0001) which was not the case for MIB1 or PCNA (MIB-1: χ2 = 1.41; P = 0.2351; PCNA: χ2 = 1.27; P = 0.2589). The median MVD was higher in patients who developed HCC than in those who did not. HCC-free interval was significantly longer in patients with the MVD ≤ 4 (P = 0.0006). No relationship was found between MIB1 or PCNA and MVD (MIB-1 r2 = 0.00007116, P = 0.9281; PCNA: r2 =0.001950; P = 0.6692). MVD only was able to predict the occurrence of HCC in these patients. Among other known risk factors for HCC, only male sex was statistically associated with an increased risk. | 5 | 100 GHz silicon–organic hybrid modulator显示文摘Electro-optic modulation at frequencies of 100 GHz and beyond is important for photonic-electronic signal processing at the highest speeds.To date,however,only a small number of devices exist that can operate up to this frequency.In this study,we demonstrate that this frequency range can be addressed by nanophotonic,silicon-based modulators.We exploit the ultrafast Pockels effect by using the silicon–organic hybrid(SOH)platform,which combines highly nonlinear organic molecules with silicon waveguides.Until now,the bandwidth of these devices was limited by the losses of the radiofrequency(RF)signal and the RC(resistor-capacitor)time constant of the silicon structure.The RF losses are overcome by using a device as short as 500 μm,and the RC time constant is decreased by using a highly conductive electron accumulation layer and an improved gate insulator.Using this method,we demonstrate for the first time an integrated silicon modulator with a 3dB bandwidth at an operating frequency beyond 100 GHz.Our results clearly indicate that the RC time constant is not a fundamental speed limitation of SOH devices at these frequencies.Our device has a voltage–length product of only V_(π)L=11 V mm,which compares favorably with the best silicon-photonic modulators available today.Using cladding materials with stronger nonlinearities,the voltage–length product is expected to improve by more than an order of magnitude. | Luca Alloatti Robert Palmer Sebastian Diebold Kai Philipp Pahl Baoquan Chen Raluca Dinu Maryse Fournier Jean-Marc Fedeli Thomas Zwick Wolfgang Freude Christian Koos Juerg Leuthold | 2014 | Light(Science & Applications)2014，3，1： | 3 |

| 7 | How does a data strategy enable customer value?The case of FinTechs and traditional banks under the open finance framework显示文摘The coupling of data and digital innovation opens the way for new business in the financial services sector,where customers are placed at the centre of decisions and data can help to develop customer knowledge.To carry out our research,we adopted a multi-case study approach to explore how a data strategy is developed in the retail banking industry,together with its relationship with customer value,paying particular attention to the heterogeneity between traditional banks and financial technology companies(FinTechs).Two main points emerged from the study.Firstly,there are three possible approaches to Open Finance,which are mainly defined by their different corporate cultures,organisational configurations,technological architecture and data value.Secondly,it is not enough to be a FinTech to be best placed to exploit the market,as some traditional banks share the FinTechs’approach to Open Finance.Designing new tailored products,customising their prices and offering them over the right channels through targeted communication are all data-driven initiatives that stem from cross-or up-selling potential,core to the retail banking industry for turning a customer into a cash flow,thus enabling value to be created for customers.Our findings additionally revealed that there is a form of external information asymmetry between the customer and the bank,and that there is also an internal asymmetry between bank departments,as their visibility on information about the same customer may differ. | Laura Grassi Nicolas Figini Lorenzo Fedeli | 2022 | Financial Innovation2022，8，1： | 2 |
| 8 | Occupational exposure to vinyl chloride and liver diseases显示文摘Portal hypertension,liver fibrosis,and angiosarcoma of the liver(ASL)have been reported among workers exposed to vinyl chloride monomer(VCM)since the 1970s.In 2007,the International Agency for Research on Cancer established the association of VCM with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),though only on the basis of the few cases available.Thereafter,recent reports from the United States cohort and a European sub-cohort of vinyl chloride workers provided compelling evidence of a strong association between cumulative VCM exposure and HCC risk.Further areas of research include the risk of liver cancer at lower levels of exposure and different patterns of risk of ASL and HCC with the time since exposure.The evidence of interaction between VCM exposure and other known liver carcinogens such as alcohol and chronic viral infection provides clues for the health surveillance of exposed workers.Notably,also the risk of VCM-associated chronic liver disease is modulated by alcohol consumption,viral infection,and genetic polymorphism.A counter-intuitive finding from cohort studies of exposed workers is the lower mortality from liver cirrhosis with respect to the general population;this can be attributed to the healthy worker effect and to the selection of liver cancer as the cause of death in the presence of concomitant chronic liver disease.Studies designed to overcome these intricacies confirmed an association between cumulative VCM exposure and the risk of liver cirrhosis. | Ugo Fedeli Paolo Girardi Giuseppe Mastrangelo | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019，25，33： | 2 |
