2Litterfall production and nutrient return in different-aged Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) plantations in South China显示文摘The amounts of litter produced and nutrients returned play a fundamental role in the productivity and biogeochemical and nutrient cycling of forest ecosystems.We monitored annual litterfall production, nutrient return,and monthly dynamics over a one-year period in Chinese fir plantations aged 10, 22, and 34 years. Our objective was to quantify litterfall and nutrient return over a complete harvest rotation of Chinese fir. Annual litterfall production increased with stand age and was recorded as(3,294.6 ± 360.4),(3,733.9 ± 211.2), and(4,876.1 ± 212.8) kg ha-1a-1in stands aged 10, 22 and 34 years, respectively. Total litter production was significantly greater in the stand aged34 years than in the stand aged 10 years(p \ 0.05). With the exception of miscellaneous components, needle litterfall constituted the highest proportion(27.5–43.6 %), followed by branches/twigs(9.5–16.6 %). In all three plantations,annual total nutrient return to soil was in the order of C(1,119.95–2,709.05 kg ha-1a-1) [ N(39.32–62.04 kg ha-1a-1) [ K(15.95–22.44 kg ha-1a-1) [ P(1.30–1.63 kg ha-1a-1). C, N, K and P input to soil was significantly lower in the 10-year-old stand in comparison to the 22- and34-year-old stands(p \ 0.05). Litterfall production and nutrient return(C, N and K) followed similar patterns, and C and N input to soil was significantly related to litterfall production(needle, branch and total litterfall). 3Baicalin induces ferroptosis in bladder cancer cells by downregulating FTH1显示文摘Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic regulated cell death caused by iron accumulation and subsequent lipid peroxidation.Currently,the therapeutic role of ferroptosis on cancer is gaining increasing interest.Baicalin an active component in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi with anticancer potential various cancer types;however,the effects of baicalein on bladder cancer and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown.In the study,we investigated the effect of baicalin on bladder cancer cells5637 and KU-19-19.As a result,we show baicalin exerted its anticancer activity by inducing apoptosis and cell death in bladder cancer cells.Subsequently,we for the first time demonstrate baicalin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro and in vivo,accompanied by reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation and intracellular chelate iron enrichment.The ferroptosis inhibitor deferoxamine but not necrostatin-1,chloroquine(CQ),N-acetyl-L-cysteine,L-glutathione reduced,or carbobenzoxy-valyl-alanyl-aspartyl-[O-methyl]-fluoromethylketone(Z-VAD-FMK) rescued baicalin-induced cell death,indicating ferroptosis contributed to baicalin-induced cell death.Mechanistically,we show that ferritin heavy chain1(FTH1) was a key determinant for baicalin-induced ferroptosis.Overexpression of FTH1 abrogated the anticancer effects of baicalin in both 5637 and KU19-19 cells.Taken together,our data for the first time suggest that the natural product baicalin exerts its anticancer activity by inducing FTH1-dependent ferroptosis,which will hopefully provide a prospective compound for bladder cancer treatment.Na Kong Xiaying Chen Jiao Feng Ting Duan Shuiping Liu Xueni Sun Peng Chen Ting Pan Lili Yan Ting Jin Yu Xiang Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Weirui Ma Wencheng Liu Mingming Zhang Zuyi Yang Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Tian Xie Xinbing Sui Wei Tao 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,12:23

7Biomass production,nutrient cycling and distribution in age-sequence Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolate)plantations in subtropical China显示文摘Biomass production and nutrient(N, P, K, Ca and Mg) accumulation, distribution and cycling were quantified in young, mature and over-mature(10-, 22-, and34-year old) Chinese fir [Cunninghamia lanceolate(Lamb.) Hook] plantations in southern China. Total stand biomass of young, mature and over-mature stands was 38,104 and 138 t ha-1respectively. Biomass production increased significantly with age. Stem wood represented the highest percentage of stand biomass, accounting for 41,55 and 63 % in the young, mature and over-mature plantations respectively. Nutrients concentration was highest in live needles and branches, and lowest in stem wood. The plantations accumulated more N, followed by K, Ca, Mg,and P. Nutrient return amount, nutrient utilization efficiency, nutrient turnover time, the ratio of nutrient returnand uptake increased with stand age, which implies that young Chinese fir deplete soil nutrients to maintain growth,and efficiently utilize nutrients to decrease dependence on soil nutrients as they age. Harvesting young Chinese fir plantations would therefore lead to high nutrient loss, but prolonging the rotation length could improve soil recovery,and help sustain productivity in the long-term. 9Graphene-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron:Removal of phosphorus from aqueous solution and mechanistic study显示文摘Excess phosphorus from non-point pollution sources is one of the key factors causing eutrophication in many lakes in China,so finding a cost-effective method to remove phosphorus from non-point pollution sources is very important for the health of the aqueous environment. Graphene was selected to support nanoscale zero-valent iron(nZVI)for phosphorus removal from synthetic rainwater runoff in this article. Compared with nZVI supported on other porous materials,graphene-supported nZVI(G-nZVI) could remove phosphorus more efficiently. The amount of nZVI in G-nZVI was an important factor in the removal of phosphorus by G-nZVI,and G-nZVI with 20 wt.% nZVI(20% G-nZVI)could remove phosphorus most efficiently. The nZVI was very stable and could disperse very well on graphene,as characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy were used to elucidate the reaction process,and the results indicated that Fe-O-P was formed after phosphorus was adsorbed by G-nZVI. The results obtained from X-ray diffraction(XRD) indicated that the reaction product between nZVI supported on graphene and phosphorus was Fe3(PO4)2·8H2O(Vivianite). 11Efficacy and safety of Shaoyang Xibi decoction in patients with knee osteoarthritis:a multi-center,single-blind,randomized controlled trial显示文摘PURPOSE: To observe the efficacy and safety of Shaoyang Xibi decoction(SYXBD) in patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA), and to verify that the theory of 'Shaoyang dominating bone' in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) can be applied to KOA treatment.METHODS: Participants were randomly allocated to two groups: SYXBD(treatment group, n = 66)and Meloxicam(control group, n = 66). Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36) were used to assess efficacy before the treatment and 8 weeks after the treatment.RESULTS: Baseline data before the treatment between the two groups were similar. The WOMAC scores significantly decreased and the SF-36 scores significantly increased after 8-week treatment in both groups compared with before the treatment(P < 0.05). SYXBD significantly decreased pain scores(P < 0.001), physical function scores(P <0.001) and the total scores(P < 0.001) in WOMAC compared to Meloxicam. SYXBD significantly improved physical function(P = 0.021), bodily pain(P = 0.002) and general health(P = 0.014), with no significant difference in role emotional(P = 0.053),role physical(P = 0.517), vitality(P = 0.241), social function(P = 0.712) and mental health(P = 0.800)in SF-36 compared to Meloxicam. No adverse events were reported in the treatment group while13 adverse events happened in the control group during the study.CONCLUSION: SYXBD, prepared based on the theory of 'Shaoyang dominating bone', has a better curative efficay and safety in patients with KOA compared with Meloxicam. 12Complexity of software trustworthiness and its dynamical statistical analysis methods显示文摘Developing trusted softwares has become an important trend and a natural choice in the development of software technology and applications. At present,the method of measurement and assessment of software trustworthiness cannot guarantee safe and reliable operations of software systems completely and effectively. Based on the dynamical system study,this paper interprets the characteristics of behaviors of software systems and the basic scientific problems of software trustworthiness complexity,analyzes the characteristics of complexity of software trustworthiness,and proposes to study the software trustworthiness measurement in terms of the complexity of software trustworthiness. Using the dynamical statistical analysis methods,the paper advances an invariant-measure based assessment method of software trustworthiness by statistical indices,and hereby provides a dynamical criterion for the untrustworthiness of software systems. 14Early evaluation of growth traits of Larix kaempferi clones显示文摘Early selection is an important method to shorten the breeding cycle for tree species, which may differ in the time for early selection.To evaluate the early selected time for Larix kaempferi, tree height and diameter at breast height of 57 L.kaempferi clones were measured over many different growth years.The results indicated that, except for age × clone interaction for diameter at breast height(P = 0.741), there were significant differences among all variation sources(P < 0.01).The coefficient of phenotypic variation ranged from 14.89 to 35.65%for height and from 19.17 to 23.86% for diameter at breast height in different growth years.The repeatability of height and of diameter at breast height among clones was high,ranging from 0.6181 to 0.8531(height) and from 0.8443 to0.8497(diameter at breast height), in different growth years.There were significant positive correlations between all pairs of growth traits except between height in the 2 nd growth year and height in the 30 th growth year; and between height in the 2 nd growth year × diameter at breast height in the 30 th growth year.With a comprehensive evaluation method and a selection ratio of 10%, L65,L1, L62, L9, L15, and L78 were selected as excellent clones in the 30 th growth year.Their average values of height and diameter at breast height were 9.81 and 16.57%higher than the overall average, representing genetic gains of 6.46 and 13.99%, respectively.This study provides a theoretical foundation for the genetic improvement of L.kaempferi.Yanyan Pan Shuchun Li Chenglu Wang Wenjun Ma Guiyou Xu Lili Shao Kailong Li Xiyang Zhao Tingbo Jiang 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,4:10

16Characterization and Apparent Kinetics of Polymerization of 1-Decene Catalyzed by Boron Trifluoride/Alcohol System显示文摘Poly-α-olefin(PAO) synthetic oil is the base oil of high-quality lubricants, and has a huge market potential.We illustrate PAO synthesis by catalytic polymerization of 1-decene with a boron trifluoride(BF_3)/alcohol system. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, proton nuclear magnetic resonance and ^(13) C nuclear magnetic resonance analysis confirmed dimer, trimer and tetramer structures of PAO. Each component contained branched chains with a 1,2 insertion of a head-to-tail link; a 2,1 insertion of a tail-to-tail link and a methyl-containing linked structure. At a low conversion rate, the reaction rate was related directly with the reaction temperature and the catalyst/1-decene concentration. 17Genome-wide analysis of BES1 genes in Gossypium revealed their evolutionary conserved roles in brassinosteroid signaling显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs), which are essential phytohormones for plant growth and development, are important for cotton fiber development. Additionally, BES1 transcription factors are critical for BR signal transduction. However, cotton BES1 family genes have not been comprehensively characterized. In this study, we identified 11 BES1 genes in G. arboreum, 11 in G.raimondii, 16 in G. barbadense, and 22 in G. hirsutum. The BES1 sequences were significantly conserved in the Arabidopsis thaliana, rice, and upland cotton genomes. A total of 94 BES1 genes from 10 different plant species were divided into three clades according to the neighbor-joining and minimum-evolution methods. Moreover, the exon/intron patterns and motif distributions were highly conserved among the A. thaliana and cotton BES1 genes. The collinearity among the orthologs from the At and Dt subgenomes was estimated. Segmental duplications in the At and Dt subgenomes were primarily responsible for the expansion of the cotton BES1 gene family. Of the GhBES1 genes, GhBES1.4_At/Dt exhibited BL-induced expression and was predominantly expressed in fibers. Furthermore, Col-0/mGhBES1.4_At plants produced curled leaves with long and bent petioles. These transgenic plants also exhibited decreased hypocotyl sensitivity to brassinazole and constitutive BR induced/repressed gene expression patterns. 18A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. 20Development and utilization of a new chemically-induced soybean library with a high mutation density显示文摘Mutagenized populations have provided important materials for introducing variation and identifying gene function in plants. In this study, an ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)-induced soybean(Glycine max) population,consisting of 21,600 independent M_2 lines, was developed.Over 1,000 M_(4(5))families, with diverse abnormal phenotypes for seed composition, seed shape, plant morphology and maturity that are stably expressed across different environments and generations were identified. Phenotypic analysis of the population led to the identification of a yellow pigmentation mutant, gyl, that displayed significantly decreased chlorophyll(Chl) content and abnormal chloroplast development. Sequence analysis showed that gyl is allelic to Minn Gold, where a different single nucleotide polymorphism variation in the Mg-chelatase subunit gene(ChlI1a) results in golden yellow leaves. A cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence marker was developed and may be applied to marker-assisted selection for the golden yellow phenotype in soybean breeding.
