| 1 | Persistent alanine aminotransferase elevation among the general Iranian population: Prevalence and causes显示文摘AIM: To determine the prevalence and causes of persistently elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels among the general population in northern Iran. METHODS: A total of 2292 (1376 female, aged 18-75 year), were selected by systematic clustered random sampling from the cities and villages of Gonbad and Kalaleh in Golestan Province and invited to participate in the study. A comprehensive history regarding alcohol drinking and medication was taken. Body mass index (BMI), viral markers and ALT levels were measured. If ALT level was ≥ 40 U/L, it was rechecked twice within 6 mo. Those with ≥ 2 times elevation of ALT were considered as having persistently elevated ALT level. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was diagnosed based on evidence of fatty liver upon sonography and excluding other etiology. RESULTS: A total of 2049 (1351 female) patients participated in the study, 162 (7.9%) had elevated ALT level at the first measurement. Persistently elevated ALT level was detected in 64 (3.1%) participants, with51 (79.6%) with no obvious etiology, six (9.3%) with Hepatitis B, four (6.2%) with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and three (4.6%) with alcoholic hepatitis. The prevalence of NAFLD and alcoholic hepatitis was 2.04% (42 patients) and 0.1% (three), respectively. There was correlation between NAFLD and male gender, overweight, diabetes and living in an urban area [odds ratio = 3.03 (95% CI: 1.6-5.72), 4.21 (95% CI: 1.83-9.68), 2.86 (95% CI: 1.05-7.79) and 2.04 (95% CI: 1.00-4.16) respectively]. | 8 | Seismic control of multi-degrees-of-freedom structures by vertical mass isolation method using MR dampers显示文摘Vertical mass isolation(VMI)is one of the novel methods for the seismic control of structures.In this method,the entire structure is assumed to consist of two mass and stiffness subsystems,and an isolated layer is located among them.In this study,the magnetorheological damper in three modes:passive-off,passive-on,and semi-active mode with variable voltage between zero and 9 volts was used as an isolated layer between two subsystems.Multi-degrees-of-freedom structures with 5,10,and 15 floors in two dimensions were examined under 11 pairs of near field earthquakes.On each level,the displacement of MR dampers was taken into account.The responses of maximum displacement,maximum inter-story drift,and maximum base shear in controlled and uncontrolled buildings were compared to assess the suggested approach for seismic control of the structures.According to the results,the semi-active control method can reduce the response by more than 12%compared to the uncontrolled mode in terms of maximum displacement of the mass subsystem of the structures.This method can reduce more than 16%and 20%of the responses compared to the uncontrolled mode in terms of maximum inter-story drift and base shear of the structure,respectively. | Mohamad Shahrokh Abdi Masoud Nekooei Mohammad-Ali Jafari | 2024 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2024,23,2: | 0 |

| 10 | Analysis of Gray Water Recycling by Reuse of Industrial Waste Water for Agricultural and Irrigation Purposes显示文摘Isfahan industrial province with its numerous industrial estates in its area and consequently the amount of wastewater produced by these settlements is very difficult to deal with.Therefore,the need for proper wastewater treatment and efficient management of industrial waste water from the industrial estates of this province should be seriously addressed and followed up by the authorities.The purpose of this study is the feasibility of reuse of wastewater from industrial settlements for agricultural and irrigation purposes.The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional study.In this study,the average values obtained from the sampling and the results of the experiments on waste water from the industrial waste water treatment plant in Isfahan,2017,have been used.Average values of BOD5,COD,TSS and so on were compared with the standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and analyzed in Excel software.According to the results,the average values of COD,BOD5,TSS,SO4,pH and catalyst quality parameters were determined from wastewater effluents of 315,162,93,164(mg/L),8.3 and 32.5(NTU)respectively.The results of the study show that the average values of the quality parameters examined from the effluent of the treatment plant other than BOD5 and COD are within the standard range and the limit for agricultural and irrigation purposes,which may lead to undesirable environmental performance of these two parameters. | Safieh Javadinejad Rebwar Dara Masoud Hussein Hamed Mariwan Akram Hamah Saeed Forough Jafary | 2020 | Journal of Geographical Research2020,3,2: | 0 |
