| 1 | Phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of leaf extracts from ten Algerian Ficus carica L. varieties显示文摘Objective: To determine the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of methanolic leaf extracts of ten Algerian fig(Ficus carica L.)varieties(uniferous, biferous and caprifig tree).Methods: Phenolics were extracted by Soxhlet method and analyzed by the Folin–Ciocalteu colorimetric method. Flavonoids were determined by aluminum trichloride assay and the antioxidant capacity was determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay. The antimicrobial activity was studied with the disc diffusion method and a macrodilution broth method was used to determine the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations.Results: The mean extract yield was 14.10% ± 0.66%(n = 10). Leaf extract of biferous followed by uniferous varieties had the highest total phenolic contents [(52.296 ± 5.232)and(48.973 ± 2.015) mg gallic acid equivalent/g of dry plant extract respectively], flavonoids [(14.388 ± 0.333) and(14.136 ± 1.082) mg quercetin equivalent/g of dry plant extract] and antioxidant capacity [IC50(798.754 ± 108.590) and(825.004 ± 110.835) mg/m L]. Antioxidant capacity of fig leaves was significantly correlated with phenolic contents(r = 0.748). These extracts showed bactericidal activity and moderate antifungal activity, and the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations were determined on Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus.Conclusions: All tested extracts contain phenolic compounds and exhibited an antioxidant activity and an antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. | 4 | Chronic intestinal failure and short bowel syndrome in Crohn’s disease显示文摘Chronic intestinal failure(CIF)is a rare but feared complication of Crohn’s disease.Depending on the remaining length of the small intestine,the affected intestinal segment,and the residual bowel function,CIF can result in a wide spectrum of symptoms,from single micronutrient malabsorption to complete intestinal failure.Management of CIF has improved significantly in recent years.Advances in home-based parenteral nutrition,in particular,have translated into increased survival and improved quality of life.Nevertheless,60%of patients are permanently reliant on parenteral nutrition.Encouraging results with new drugs such as teduglutide have added a new dimension to CIF therapy.The outcomes of patients with CIF could be greatly improved by more effective prevention,understanding,and treatment.In complex cases,the care of patients with CIF requires a multidisciplinary approach involving not only physicians but also dietitians and nurses to provide optimal intestinal rehabilitation,nutritional support,and an improved quality of life.Here,we summarize current literature on CIF and short bowel syndrome,encompassing epidemiology,pathophysiology,and advances in surgical and medical management,and elucidate advances in the understanding and therapy of CIF-related complications such as catheter-related bloodstream infections and intestinal failure-associated liver disease. | Aysegül Aksan Karima Farrag Irina Blumenstein Oliver Schröder Axel U Dignass Jürgen Stein | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021，27，24： | 4 |
| 5 | Role of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease as risk factor for drug-induced hepatotoxicity显示文摘Background:Obesity is often associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),which refers to a large spectrum of hepatic lesions including fatty liver,nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)and cirrhosis.Different investigations showed or suggested that obesity and NAFLD are able to increase the risk of hepatotoxicity of different drugs.Some of these drugs could induce more frequently an acute hepatitis in obese individuals whereas others could worsen pre-existing NAFLD.Aim:The main objective of the present review was to collect the available information regarding the role of NAFLD as risk factor for drug-induced hepatotoxicity.For this purpose,we performed a data-mining analysis using different queries including drug-induced liver injury(or DILI),drug-induced hepatotoxicity,fatty liver,nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(or NAFLD),steatosis and obesity.The main data from the collected articles are reported in this review and when available,some pathophysiological hypotheses are put forward.Relevance for patients:Drugs that could pose a potential risk in obese patients include compounds belonging to different pharmacological classes such as acetaminophen,halothane,methotrexate,rosiglitazone,stavudine and tamoxifen.For some of these drugs,experimental investigations in obese rodents confirmed the clinical observations and unveiled different pathophysiological mechanisms which could explain why these pharmaceuticals are particularly hepatotoxic in obesity and NAFLD.Other drugs such as pentoxifylline,phenobarbital and omeprazole might also pose a risk but more investigations are required to determine whether this risk is significant or not.Because obese people often take several drugs for the treatment of different obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes,hyperlipidemia and coronary heart disease,it is urgent to identify the main pharmaceuticals that can cause acute hepatitis on a fatty liver background or induce NAFLD worsening. | Julie Massart Karima Begriche Caroline Moreau Bernard Fromenty | 2017 | Journal of Clinical & Translational Research2017，3，1： | 4 |
| 6 | Conduction properties of condensed lanthanum phosphates:La(PO_3)_3 and LaP_5O_(14)显示文摘Single crystals of LaP3O9·3H2O were prepared using a classical method of aqueous chemistry whereas those of the ultraphosphate LaP5O14 were obtained by flux method.Thermal treatment of LaP3O9·3H2O up to 700 °C allowed us to obtain the lanthanum polyphosphate La(PO3)3.The conductivity as well as the vibrational study of the lanthanum ultraphosphate and polyphosphate were analysed in order to explain the mechanism of conduction.Activation energies of 0.45 and 0.84 eV,deduced from the Arrhenius relation,were respectively found for the polyphosphate and the ultraphosphate.Taking into account the structural features of these materials we linked the origin of their electrical properties to the incorporation of atmospheric humidity.Thus,it was a proton conduction phenomenon which took place as a result of the establishment of hydrogen bonds as well as the reorganisation of water molecules already incorporated into these structures.Referring to the Grotthuss mechanism,a proton transfer model inside the polyphosphate's structure was suggested. | Ines Hammas Karima Horchani-Naifer Mokhtar Férid | 2010 | Journal of Rare Earths2010，28，3： | 3 |

| 9 | Crystal structure and infrared spectrum of thallium holmium polyphosphate, TlHo(PO_3)_4显示文摘Crystals of thallium-holmium polyphosphate TlHo(PO3)4 were grown by flux method technique and characterized by single crys- tal X-ray diffraction. Structure of TlHo(PO3)4 was solved for the first time, and it crystallized in the monoclinic P21/n space group with the following unit-cell dimensions: a=1.02225(3) nm, b=0.88536(2) nm, c=1.09541(4) nm, β=105.888(1)°, V=0.95354(5) nm3 and Z=4. The crystal structure was solved from 2174 independent reflections with final R1(F2)=0.0442 and Rw(F2)=0.0861 refined with 164 parameters. The atomic arrangement could be described as a long chain polyphosphate organization. Holmium atoms had eightfold coordination. The structure of TlHo(PO3)4 consisted of HoO8 polyhedra sharing oxygen atoms with phosphoric group PO4. | 14 | Therapeutic Effect of Dimethyl Dimethoxy Biphenyl Dicarboxylate on Collagen-Induced Arthritis in Rats显示文摘Objective:To study the effect of oral administration of dimethyl dimethoxy biphenyl dicarboxylate(DDB) on adjusting angiogeneic/inflammatory mediators and ameliorating the pathology of bones in rats with collagen-induced arthritis(CIA).Methods:Wistar rat model of CIA was set up using bovine collagen type Ⅱ.Fifty rats were divided into five groups randomly:normal,CIA model,DDB treatment,methotrexate(MTX) treatment,and combined DDB+MTX treatment.Ankle joints of rats were imaged with digital X-ray machine to show the destruction of joints.Fore and hind paw and knee joints were removed above the ankle joint then processed for haematoxylin and eosin staining.Plasma levels of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),platelet derived growth factor,interleukin-8(IL-8),IL-4,tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α),and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) were quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Nitric oxide levels were detected by Griess reagent.Results:Compared with the CIA model group,a remarkable reduction in various angiogenic(VEGF and IL-8) and inflammatory mediators(TNF-α,IL-4 and COX-2) after treatment with DDB either alone or combined with MTX(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Histopathological and X-ray findings were confirmatory to the observed DDB anti-arthritic effect.The DDB-treated group showed amelioration in signs of arthritis which appeared essentially similar to normal.Conclusion:Our data shed light on the therapeutic efficacy of DDB in experimental rheumatoid arthritis(RA) compared with a choice drug(MTX) and it may be offered as a second-line drug in the treatment of RA. | Roba M Talaat Amira S Abo-EI-Atta Sabah M Farou Karima I EI-Dosoky | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2015，21，11： | 1 |
