| 3 | Free-breathing radial volumetric interpolated breathhold examination vs breath-hold cartesian volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination magnetic resonance imaging of the liver at 1.5T显示文摘AIM: To compare breath-hold cartesian volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination(cVIBE) and freebreathing radial VIBE(rVIBE) and determine whether rVIBE could replace cVIBE in routine liver magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).METHODS: In this prospective study, 15 consecutive patients scheduled for routine MRI of the abdomen underwent pre- and post-contrast breath-hold cVIBE imaging(19 s acquisition time) and free-breathing rVIBE imaging(111 s acquisition time) on a 1.5T Siemens scanner. Three radiologists with 2, 4, and 8 years post-fellowship experience in abdominal imaging evaluated all images. The radiologists were blinded to the sequence types, which were presented in a random order for each patient. For each sequence, the radiologists scored the cVIBE and rVIBE images for liver edge sharpness, hepatic vessel clarity, presence of artifacts, lesion conspicuity, fat saturation, and overall image quality using a five-point scale. RESULTS: Compared to rVIBE, cVIBE yielded significantly(P < 0.001) higher scores for liver edge sharpness(mean score, 3.87 vs 3.37), hepatic-vessel clarity(3.71 vs 3.18), artifacts(3.74 vs 3.06), lesion conspicuity(3.81 vs 3.2), and overall image quality(3.91 vs 3.24). cVIBE and rVIBE did not significantly differ in quality of fat saturation(4.12 vs 4.03, P = 0.17). The inter-observer variability with respect to differences between rVIBE and cVIBE scores was close to zero compared to random error and inter-patient variation. Quality of rVIBE images was rated as acceptable for all parameters. CONCLUSION: rVIBE cannot replace cVIBE in routine liver MRI. | 6 | A Sequential Bayesian Algorithm for DOA Tracking in Time-Varying Environments显示文摘This paper focuses on the Direction of arrival(DOA) tracking problem in dynamic environments where each source signal is modeled as a Gaussian process with time-varying mean and unknown covariance. In the presence of highly dynamic environment, benchmark algorithms usually have deteriorated performance. By treating the source signals as a function of the arrival angles, a sequential Bayesian tracking approach named Simultaneous angle-source update(SASU) is proposed based on the Maximum a posteriori(MAP) principle. The key feature of the proposed approach is to simultaneously update the arrival angles and the source signals in the Kalman filter step by converting the update process of the state vector into a joint optimization problem. An iterative Newton method to efficiently solve the joint optimization problem is proposed. | 7 | Forest succession in post-agricultural Larix olgensis plantations in northeast China显示文摘In order to understand the management of regional vegetation,numerical classification and ordination are widely used to investigate community distribution and vegetation features.In particular,two-way indicator-species analysis programs(TWINSPAN)classifies plots and species into different groups.De-trended correspondence analysis(DCA)and canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)reflects the relationship between community and site conditions.Afforestation with Larix olgensis Herry.Plantations is a suitable restoration strategy on post-agricultural fields in the Lesser Khingan Mountains.The results of this study show how these plantations develop over time to establish a reliable pathway model by measuring and clarifying the succession process.Twenty-eight L.olgensis plantations along a 48-year chronosequence of afforestation were investigated with a quadrat sampling method.Species composition,community structure attributes of diversity,and site conditions were analyzed.Communities were classified by TWINSPAN into five successional stages:immature,juvenile,mid-aged,nearmature and mature.Classifications were validated by DCA and CCA analysis.Site conditions such as soil and litter thickness,soil organic matter,soil density,and pH were measured.Successional stages varied in community composition and species population,accompanied by time from afforestation and a gradient of site conditions.This gradient showed changes in vegetation occurrence and diversity coinciding with changes in soil conditions.The study showed that L.olgensis plantations had marked predominance in growth and were associated with improved soil fertility and the formation of a stable plant community. | Wei Ma Shen Lei Yujun Sun Jason Grabosky | 2020 | Journal of Forestry Research2020，31，6： | 3 |

| 9 | Direct demonstration of carrier distribution and recombination within step-bunched UV-LEDs显示文摘AlGaN-based solid state UV emitters have many advantages over conventional UV sources. However, UV-LEDs still suffer from numerous challenges, including low quantum efficiency compared to their blue LED counterparts. One of the inherent reasons is a lack of carrier localization effect inside fully miscible AlGaN alloys. In the pursuit of phase separation and carrier localization inside the active region of AlGaN UV-LED, utilization of highly misoriented substrates proves to be useful, yet the carrier distribution and recombination mechanism in such structures has seldom been reported. In this paper, a UV-LED with step-bunched surface morphology was designed and fabricated, and the internal mechanism of high internal quantum efficiency was studied in detail. The correlation between microscale current distribution and surface morphology was provided, directly demonstrating that current prefers to flow through the step edges of the epitaxial layers. Experimental results were further supported by numerical simulation. It was found that efficient radiative recombination centers were formed in the inclined quantum well regions. A schematic three-dimensional energy band structure of the multiple quantum wells(MQWs) across the step was proposed and helps in further understanding the luminescence behavior of LEDs grown on misoriented substrates.
