| 1 | Human embryonic stem cell-derived mesenchymal stem cells improved premature ovarian failure显示文摘BACKGROUND Premature ovarian failure(POF)affects many adult women less than 40 years of age and leads to infertility.According to previous reports,various tissue-specific stem cells can restore ovarian function and folliculogenesis in mice with chemotherapy-induced POF.Human embryonic stem cells(ES)provide an alternative source for mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)because of their similarities in phenotype and immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory characteristics.Embryonic stem cell-derived mesenchymal stem cells(ES-MSCs)are attractive candidates for regenerative medicine because of their high proliferation and lack of barriers for harvesting tissue-specific MSCs.However,possible therapeutic effects and underlying mechanisms of transplanted ES-MSCs on cyclophosphamide and busulfan-induced mouse ovarian damage have not been evaluated.AIM To evaluate ES-MSCs vs bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSCs)in restoring ovarian function in a mouse model of chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure.METHODS Female mice received intraperitoneal injections of different doses of cyclophosphamide and busulfan to induce POF.Either human ES-MSCs or BMMSCs were transplanted into these mice.Ten days after the mice were injected with cyclophosphamide and busulfan and 4 wk after transplantation of the ESMSCs and/or BM-MSCs,we evaluated body weight,estrous cyclicity,folliclestimulating hormone and estradiol hormone concentrations and follicle count were used to evaluate the POF model and cell transplantation.Moreover,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated 2-deoxyuridine 5-triphosphate nick end labeling,real-time PCR,Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry and mating was used to evaluate cell transplantation.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to analyze vascular endothelial growth factor,insulin-like growth factor 2 and hepatocyte growth factor levels in ES-MSC condition medium in order to investigate the mechanisms that underlie their function.RESULTS The human ES-MSCs significantly restored hormone secretion,survival rate and reproductive function in POF mice,which was similar to the results obtained with BM-MSCs.Gene expression analysis and the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated 2-deoxyuridine 5-triphosphate nick end labeling assay results indicated that the ES-MSCs and/or BM-MSCs reduced apoptosis in the follicles.Notably,the transplanted mice generated new offspring.The results of different analyses showed increases in antiapoptotic and trophic proteins and genes.CONCLUSION These results suggested that transplantation of human ES-MSCs were similar to BM-MSCs in that they could restore the structure of the injured ovarian tissue and its function in chemotherapy-induced damaged POF mice and rescue fertility.The possible mechanisms of human ES-MSC were related to promotion of follicular development,ovarian secretion,fertility via a paracrine effect and ovarian cell survival. | Khadijeh Bahrehbar Mojtaba Rezazadeh Valojerdi Fereshteh Esfandiari Rouhollah Fathi Seyedeh-NafisehHassani Hossein Baharvand | 2020 | World Journal of Stem Cells2020,12,8: | 12 |
| 2 | Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue by nanostructured Fe/FeS powder under visible light显示文摘The photocatalytic performance of mechano-thermally synthesized Fe/FeS nanostructures formed from micron-sized starting materials was compared with that of a thermally synthesized nanostructure with nano-sized precursors in this paper. The properties of as-synthesized materials were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry(VSM), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS), and ultraviolet–visible(UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The effects of irradiation time, methylene blue(MB) concentration, catalyst dosage, and p H value upon the degradation of MB were studied. Magnetic properties of the samples showed that both as-synthesized Fe/FeS photocatalysts are magnetically recoverable, eliminating the need for conventional filtration steps. Degradation of 5 ppm of the MB solution by mechano-thermally synthesized Fe/FeS with a photocatalyst dosage of 1 kg/m^3 at pH 11 can reach 96% after 12 ks irradiation under visible light. The photocatalytic efficiency is higher in alkaline solution. The kinetics of photocatalytic degradation in both samples is controlled by a first-order reaction. | 3 | Assessment of the anterior chamber parameters after laser iridotomy in primary angle close suspect using Pentacam and gonioscopy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the changes in the anterior segment parameters of the subjects with primary angle closure suspect(PACS) before and after laser iridotomy(LI) using the Pentacam and gonioscopy. | 4 | The relationship between pain and associated characteristics of chronic ankle instability:A retrospective study显示文摘Background'. Up to 74% of people with a history of ankle sprain develop chronic ankle instability (CAI). One commonly reported residualimpairment is ankle pain;however, it has not been included in models or inclusion criteria for CAL We investigated the prevalence of pain inpeople with CAI and the association between presence of pain and other CAI characteristics.Methods'. Retrospective data from 1147 participants with CAI (age 26.6 ± 10.7 years, 59% female) were collated from previous studies that usedthe Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool as an assessment tool. Pain was assessed from Item 1 of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool, whichasks participants about ankle pain. Responses were divided into 3 categories: pain during daily activities, pain during moderate/vigorous physicalactivities, and no pain. The presence of pain was analyzed with descriptive statistics, the correlation between pain category and CAI characteris・tics was analyzed by /2 tests and factors associated with each pain category were analyzed by logistic regression.Results'. Among the participants, 60.1% (n = 689) reported ankle pain. Of all participants, 12.4% (n = 142) reported pain during daily activities,47.7% (n = 547) reported pain during moderate/vigorous physical activities, and 39.9% (n = 458) reported no pain. There was a strong associationbetween ankle instability and ankle pain (/2 = 122.2, p < 0.001, OR = 53& 95% confidence interval (CI): 3.84—7.53). Perceived ankle instability,age and unilateral ankle sprains were independently associated with pain (ankle instability: /2 = 43.29, p < 0.001;age: /2 = 30.37,p < 0.001;unilateral ankle sprains: /2 = 6.25, p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the presence of pain between genders.Conclusion-. The prevalence of pain in people with CAI was high and was related to perceived ankle instability. Number of sprains, age, genderand unilateral or bilateral sprain did not modify this result except for the first pain category (pain during daily activities). | 5 | CO_2 reforming of methane over nickel catalysts supported on nanocrystalline MgAl_2O_4 with high surface area显示文摘In this paper dry reforming of methane (DRM) was carried out over nanocrystalline MgAl2O4-supported Ni catalysts with various Ni loadings. Nanocrystalline MgAl2O4 spinel with high specific surface area was synthesized by a co-precipitation method with the addition of pluronic P123 triblock copolymer as surfactant, and employed as catalyst support. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption, H2 chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO), temperature- programmed desorption (TPD) and transmission and scanning electron microscopies (TEM, SEM) techniques. The obtained results showed that the catalyst support has a nanocrystalline structure (crystal size: about 5 nm) with a high specific surface area (175 m2 g-1) and a mesoporous structure. Increasing in nickel content decreased the specific surface area and nickel dispersion. The prepared catalysts showed high catalytic activity and stability during the reaction. SEM analysis revealed that whisker type carbon deposited over the spent catalysts and increasing in nickel loading increased the amount of deposited carbon. | 7 | Effects of different periods of renal ischemia on liver as a remote organ显示文摘AIM:To assess the hepatic changes after induction of different periods of renal ischemia. METHODS:Rats were subjected to either sham operation or ischemia (30,45 and 60 min) followed by 60 min reperfusion. Liver and renal functional indices were measured. Hepatic glutathione (GSH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power levels and the concentration of interleukin (IL)-10 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) were evaluated. Portions of liver and kidney tissues were fixed for histological evaluation. RESULTS:Forty-five minutes renal ischemia followed by 60 min reperfusion caused significant changes in liver structure and a significant reduction in renalfunction. These rats showed a significant decrease in liver GSH,as well as a significant increase in TNF-α and IL-10 concentrations. These results demonstrated that renal ischemia caused changes in liver histology,function,oxidative stress and inflammatory status,which led to a reduction in hepatic antioxidant capacity. | 10 | Ti leaching from activated ilmenite–Fe mixture at different milling energy levels显示文摘Mechanical activation processes on ilmenite concentrate were performed in three different energy levels. Iron powder as a reducing agent was added to ilmenite in the milling stage and the mechanically activated mixture was subjected to acid leaching. The leaching experiments were designed using the Taguchi method, and the optimum ranges were obtained. Furthermore, response surface methodology(RSM) was used to optimize the critical parameters in the leaching system to achieve the highest titanium(Ti) leachability. Based on the inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) results, maximum leaching recovery of Ti(80%) was obtained using activated Ti concentrates at a medium activation energy level, which is calculated to be 25.38 kJ/g, using 15 vol% hydrochloric acid(HCl), a temperature of 70°C, leaching time of 3 h, and a solid-to-liquid ratio of 0.05 g×mL^(–1). Intensifying the milling energy from a low to high level led to a decrease in the mean crystallite size and also structure homogenization at the high energy level. According to the transmission electron microscopy(TEM) images, the mean grain size of the ilmenite/Fe nanocomposite was about 30 nm at the medium energy level sample. | 16 | Prevalence of depression and anxiety among children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background Evaluation of psychiatric disorders in children is essential in timely treatment.Despite individual studies,there is no information on the exact status of psychiatric disorders in children.The present study was conducted to determine the prevalence of depression among children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.Methods This meta-analysis is registered with PROSPERO(CRD42021231491).Several databases(Web of Science,Scopus,and PubMed)were searched from January 1,2000 to December 15,2020.The key words included:depression,anxiety,children,and diabetes.The steps of search,comprising screening,risk of bias,and extraction of study data,were performed separately by two researchers.Results It was found that a total of 109 studies had been conducted involving 52,493 children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.These studies were included in the present review study.The prevalence of depression,anxiety among children with type 1 diabetes were 22.2%[95%confidence interval(CI)19.2–25.2],and 17.7%(95%CI 15.2–20.1),respectively.The prevalence of depression was higher among girls(29.7%)than boys(19.7%).The prevalence of depression was higher in lower-middle-income countries at 29.3%(95%CI 18.6–40.0).The prevalence of depression among children with type 2 diabetes was 22.7%(95%CI 17.3–28.0).Conclusion The results of the present study indicate the importance of paying attention to extensive periodic screening and appropriate activities to reduce pediatric depression. | Majidreza Akbarizadeh Mahin Naderi far Fereshteh Ghaljaei | 2022 | World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,1: | 2 |
