1Treatment responses in Asians and Caucasians with chronic hepatitis C infection显示文摘AIM:To conduct a multicentre retrospective review of virological response rates in Asians infected with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C(CHC) treated with combination interferon and ribavirin and then to compare their responses to that among Caucasians.METHODS:Asian patients infected with genotype 1 CHC treated at 4 Australian centres between 2001 to 2005 were identified through hospital databases.Baseline demographic characteristics,biochemical,virological and histological data and details of treatment were collected.Sustained virological responses(SVR) in this cohort were then compared to that in Caucasian subjects,matched by genotype,age,gender and the stage of hepatic fibrosis.RESULTS:A total of 108 Asians with genotype 1 CHC were identified.The end of treatment response(ETR) for the cohort was 79% while the SVR was 67%.Due to the relatively advanced age of the Asian cohort,only sixty-four subjects could be matched with Caucasians.The ETR among matched Asians and Caucasians was 81% and 56% respectively(P=0.003),while the SVR rates were 73% and 36%(P <0.001) respectively.This difference remained significant after adjusting for other predictive variables.Kenneth K Yan Marianne Guirgis Amany Zekry Thuy Dinh Anouk Dev Jacob George Alice Lee 2008World Journal of Gastroenterology2008,14,21:12
2剖宫产再孕的妇女孕期B超监测下剖宫产瘢痕形态学改变显示文摘目的:通过B超监测评价剖宫产再孕的孕妇在整个妊娠过程中剖宫产瘢痕处的形态改变,并评价最后的分娩结局。方法:应用阴道超声观察320例有剖宫产史并再次妊娠的妇女怀孕11~13周、19~21周以及32~34周时剖宫产瘢痕的变化,主要测量剖宫产瘢痕处子宫肌层的厚度变化。结果:在320例孕妇中,284例发现剖宫产瘢痕的宽度、长度及厚度均发生改变,比例达到88.7%,瘢痕的长度和宽度明显增大,瘢痕的厚度明显变薄。2例孕妇因剖宫产瘢痕处子宫肌层发生破裂而终止妊娠,这2例病例,B超监测瘢痕处子宫肌层厚度为0.5mm,整个孕期减少了2.7mm、2.5mm。结论:通过观察,建立了相关的B超参考数据,并证明了剖宫产瘢痕在下一次妊娠中会发生形态学上的改变。菲薄的瘢痕处肌层厚度以及该处厚度的快速减少是剖宫产瘢痕破裂的先兆,在剖宫产再孕产妇的孕期监测过程中,瘢痕处肌层厚度的快速改变是提示剖宫产瘢痕破裂的潜在预警信号。这对防止剖宫产再孕的孕妇发生子宫破裂具有重要的意义。冯颖 李坚 段华 陈雁鸣 Sooranna Dev Ruilian Chen 2013中国医学创新2013,10,23:12
3Analysis on Critical Success Factors for Agile Manufacturing Evaluation in Original Equipment Manufacturing Industry-An AHP Approach显示文摘Manufacturing industries are facing challenges in the implementation of agile manufacturing in their products and processes.Agility is widely accepted as a new competitive concept in the manufacturing sector in fulfilling varying customer demand. Thus,evaluation of agile manufacturing in industries has become a necessity. The success of an organisation depends on its ability to manage finding the critical success factors and give them special and continued attention in order to bring about high performance. This paper proposes a set of critical success factors(CSFs) for evaluating agile manufacturing considered appropriate for the manufacturing sector.The analytical hierarchy process(AHP) method is applied for prioritizing the success factors, by summarizing the opinions of experts. 4Characteristics of microbial community functional structure of a biological coking wastewater treatment system显示文摘Nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds are key pollutants in coking wastewater; however, the functional potential of microbial communities for biodegradation of such contaminants during biological treatment is still elusive. Herein, a high throughput functional gene array(Geo Chip 5.0)in combination with Illumina Hi Seq2500 sequencing was used to compare and characterize the microbial community functional structure in a long run(500 days) bench scale bioreactor treating coking wastewater, with a control system treating synthetic wastewater. Despite the inhibitory toxic pollutants, Geo Chip 5.0 detected almost all key functional gene(average61,940 genes) categories in the coking wastewater sludge. With higher abundance, aromatic ring cleavage dioxygenase genes including multi ring1,2 diox; one ring2,3 diox; catechol represented significant functional potential for degradation of aromatic pollutants which was further confirmed by Illumina Hi Seq2500 analysis results. Response ratio analysis revealed that three nitrogenous compound degrading genes-nbz A(nitro-aromatics), tdn B(aniline), and scn ABC(thiocyanate) were unique for coking wastewater treatment, which might be strong cause to increase ammonia level during the aerobic process. Additionally, Hi Seq2500 elucidated carbozole and isoquinoline degradation genes in the system. 5Mechanisms of triglyceride metabolism in patients with bile acid diarrhea显示文摘Bile acids(BAs) are essential for the absorption of lipids. BA synthesis is inhibited through intestinal farnesoid X receptor(FXR) activity. BA sequestration is known to influence BA metabolism and control serum lipid concentrations. Animal data has demonstrated a regulatory role for the FXR in triglyceride metabolism. FXR inhibits hepatic lipogenesis by inhibiting the expression of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1c via small heterodimer primer activity. Conversely, FXR promotes free fatty acids oxidation by inducing the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α. FXR can reduce the expression of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein, which regulates the assembly of very low-density lipoproteins(VLDL). FXR activation in turn promotes the clearance of circulating triglycerides by inducing apolipoprotein C-Ⅱ, very low-density lipoproteins receptor(VLDL-R) and the expression of Syndecan-1 together with the repression of apolipoprotein C-Ⅲ, which increases lipoprotein lipase activity. There is currently minimal clinical data on triglyceride metabolism in patients with bile acid diarrhoea(BAD). Emerging data suggests that a third of patients with BAD have hypertriglyceridemia. 9Role of angiotensin converting enzyme and angiotensinogen gene polymorphisms in angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor-mediated antiproteinuric action in type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients显示文摘AIM To investigate the role of genetic variants of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) and angiotensinogen(AGT) genes in the antiproteinuric efficacy of ACE inhibitor therapy in diabetic nephropathy(DN) patients.METHODS In the present study, 270 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with nephropathy were enrolled and treated with ACE inhibitor(ramipril) and followed at 6 mo for renal function and albumin excretion by estimating serum creatinine, end stage renal disease, and albumin/creatinine ratio(ACR) in urine. Genotyping of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms were performed by using primer specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and PCR-RFLP techniques, respectively. RESULTS Forty-eight percent of DN patients(responders) benefited with respect to proteinuria from ACE inhibitor therapy at 6 mo follow-up. A significant reduction in ACR was observed after 6 mo treatment with ACE inhibitor irrespective of whether DN patients were micro-albuminuric(≥ 30 and < 300 mg/g creatinine) or macro-albuminuric(≥ 300 mg/g creatinine) at the time of enrollment. However, macro-albuminuric patients(55%) showed better response to therapy. A reduction in urinary ACR was found independent of genotypes of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms although macro-albuminuric patients having TT genotype showed statistically insignificant increased response(72%). 10Effect of Low Level Subchronic Microwave Radiation on Rat Brain显示文摘Objective The present study was designed to investigate the effects of subchronic low level microwave radiation(MWR) on cognitive function,heat shock protein 70(HSP70) level and DNA damage in brain of Fischer rats.Methods Experiments were performed on male Fischer rats exposed to microwave radiation for 90 days at three different frequencies: 900,1800,and 2450 MHz.Animals were divided into 4 groups: Group I: Sham exposed,Group II: animals exposed to microwave radiation at 900 MHz and specific absorption rate(SAR) 5.953 × 10-4 W/kg,Group III: animals exposed to 1800 MHz at SAR 5.835 × 10-4 W/kg and Group IV: animals exposed to 2450 MHz at SAR 6.672 × 10-4 W/kg.All the animals were tested for cognitive function using elevated plus maze and Morris water maze at the end of the exposure period and subsequently sacrificed to collect brain tissues.HSP70 levels were estimated by ELISA and DNA damage was assessed using alkaline comet assay.Results Microwave exposure at 900-2450 MHz with SAR values as mentioned above lead to decline in cognitive function,increase in HSP70 level and DNA damage in brain.Conclusion The results of the present study suggest that low level microwave exposure at frequencies 900,1800,and 2450 MHz may lead to hazardous effects on brain.Pravin Suryakantrao Deshmukh Kanu Megha Namita Nasare Basu Dev Banerjee Rafat Sultana Ahmed Mahesh Pandurang Abegaonkar Ashok Kumar Tripathi Pramod Kumari Mediratta 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,12:4
11Effect of heat treatment conditions on the passivation behavior of WE43CMg-Y-Nd alloy in chloride containing alkaline environments显示文摘Mg–Y–Nd alloy(WE43C or Elektron 43)is a heat treatable magnesium wrought alloy that can be used up to 250 ℃ for aerospace application.This alloy has excellent mechanical properties(UTS:up to 345 MPa at room temperature)and improved corrosion resistance.Electrochemical passivation studies were conducted on this alloy under different heat treatment conditions in 0.1 M NaOH solution with the addition of chloride from 0 to 1000 ppm.The passive potential range typically extended to more than 1.5 VAg/AgCl.The transpassive potential was not dependent on the heat treatment condition of the alloy when the chloride concentration increased up to 500 ppm.However,pitting protection potential varied with the heat treatment condition when the chloride addition was 500 ppm or more.The specimen surface was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the passivation behavior of this alloy.The passivated surface of the WE43C specimens indicated that the surface layer consisted of MgO,Mg(OH)_(2),and rare earth oxide phases,and the heat treatment conditions did not significantly affect the composition of the surface film.Jakraphan Ninlachart Zachary Karmiol Dev Chidambaram Krishnan SRaja 2017Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2017,5,2:3

13Staining for p53 and Ki-67 increases the sensitivity of EUS-FNA to detect pancreatic malignancy显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether tumor marker staining can improve the sensitivity of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration(EUS-FNA)to diagnose pancreatic malignancy. METHODS:Patients who underwent EUS-FNA were retrospectively identified.Each EUS-FNA specimen was evaluated by routine cytology and stained for tumor markers p53,Ki-67,carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) and CA19-9.Sensitivity,specificity,positive and negative predictive values(PPV and NPV),and positive and negative likelihood ratios(PLR and NLR)were calculated in order to evaluate the performance of each test to detect malignancy. RESULTS:Sixty-one specimens had complete sets of stains,yielding 49 and 12 specimens from pancreatic adenocarcinomas and benign pancreatic lesions due to pancreatitis,respectively.Cytology alone had sensitivity and specificity of 41%and 100%to detect malignancy, respectively.In 46%of the specimens,routine cytology alone was deemed indeterminate.The addition of either p53 or Ki-67 increased the sensitivity to 51%and 53%,respectively,with perfect specificity,PPV and PLR (100%,100%and infinite).Both stains in combination increased the sensitivity to 57%.While additional staining with CEA and CA19-9 further increased the sensitivity to 86%,the specificity,PPV and PLR were significantly reduced(at minimum 42%,84%and 1,respectively).Markers in all combinations performed poorly as a negative test(NPV 26%to 47%,and NLR 0.27 and 0.70).CONCLUSION:Immunohistochemical staining for p53 and Ki-67 can improve the sensitivity of EUS-FNA to diagnose pancreatic adenocarcinoma.Alexander W Jahng Sonya Reicher David Chung Donna Varela Rahul Chhablani Anil Dev Binh Pham Jose Nieto Rose J Venegas Samuel W French Bruce E Stabile Viktor E Eysselein 2010World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2010,2,11:3

15Aberrant promoter methylation of p16 in colorectal adenocarcinoma in North Indian patients显示文摘AIM:To investigate p16 gene methylation and its expression in 30 patients with sporadic colorectal adenocarcinoma in a North Indian population. METHODS:Methylation specific polymerase chain reaction was used to detect p16 gene methylation and immunohistochemistry was used to study the p16 expression in 30 sporadic colorectal tumors as well as adjoining and normal tissue specimens.RESULTS:Aberrant promoter methylation of p16 gene was detected in 12(40%)tumor specimens,whereas no promoter methylation was observed in adjoining and normal tissue.Immunohistochemistry showed expression of p16 protein in 26(86.6%)colorectal tumors whereas complete loss of expression was seen in 4(13.3%)and reduced expression was observed in 12(40%)tumors. In the adjoining mucosa,expression of p16 was in 11 (36.6%)whereas no clear positivity for p16 protein was seen in normal tissue.There was a significant difference in the expression of p16 protein in tumor tissue and adjoining mucosa(P<0.001).The methylation of the p16 gene had a significant effect on the expression of p16 protein(P=0.021).There was a significant association of methylation of p16 gene with the tumor size (P=0.015)and of the loss/reduced expression of p16 protein with the proximal site of the tumor(P=0.047). Promoter methylation and expression of p16 had no relation with the survival of the patients(P>0.05). 20Soil texture classification using multi class support vector machine显示文摘The objective of this study is to process the soil images to generate a digital soil classification system for rural farmers at low cost.Soil texture is the main factor to be considered before doing cultivation.It affects the crop selection and regulates the water transmission property.The conventional hydrometer method determines the percentage of sand,silt,and clay present in a soil sample.This method is very cost and time-consuming process.In this approach,we collect 50 soil samples from the different region of west Guwahati,Assam,India.The samples are photographed under a constant light condition using an Android mobile of 13 MP cameras.The fraction of sand,silt,and clay of the soil samples are determined using the hydrometer test.The result of the hydrometer test is processed with the United State Department of Agriculture soil classification triangle for the final soil classification.Soil images are processed through the different stages like pre-processing of soil images for image enhancement,extracting the region of interest for segmentation and the texture analysis for feature vector.The feature vector is calculated from the Hue,Saturation,and Value(HSV)histogram,color moments,color auto Correlogram,Gabor wavelets,and discrete wavelet transform.Finally,Support Vector Machine classifier is used to classify the soil images using linear kernel.The proposed method gives an average of 91.37%accuracy for all the soil samples and the result is nearly the same with the United State Department of Agriculture soil classification.Utpal Barman Ridip Dev Choudhury 2020Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,2:2
