1Variation of head and facial morphological characteristics with increased age of Han in Southern China显示文摘We investigated 13940 (6735 male, 7250 female) adult head and facial physical attributes from 19 different Han ethnic groups in 10 southern-China provinces, and calculated 12 head and facial indexes. Indexes were used to analyze the variation of head and facial morphological characteristics with increased age. Results showed that as age increases: (1) Head breadth, minimum frontal breadth, face breadth, interocular breadth, external biocular breadth, lip height, lip thickness, head circumference, auricular height, length-breadth head index, length-height head index, and lip-index values decline significantly in a linear fashion. 2Spatial correlation analysis of sea-bottom backscattering显示文摘The principle of the spatial correlation characteristics of sea-bottom backscattering was expounded.The Kirchhoff model is introduced to simulate sea-bottom backscattering and the spatial correlation is calculated.Some sediment characteristic parameters,such as the ratio of sediment mass density to water mass density,the ratio of sediment sound speed to water sound speed,the attenuation coefficient of sound waves,the strength and exponent of seabottom interface roughness spectrum,are considered while simulating and their influences on spatial correlation are analyzed.By establishing the expressions of the sediment characteristic parameters with the logarithmic sediment grain size,the variation tendency of the spatial correlation versus the logarithmic sediment grain size is obtained.The width of the major lobe of the spatial correlation function narrows as the logarithmic sediment grain size increases.The comparisons between simulated data and in-situ data collected in October 2007 have proven that their spatial correlation function waveforms agree well under the same sediment characteristics.KUAI Duojie WANG Changhong FENG Lei WANG Yuling QIU Wei YI Huiqin CHEN Long 2012Chinese Journal of Acoustics2012,31,3:9
3Travel Behaviours of Sharing Bicycles in the Central Urban Area Based on Geographically Weighted Regression: The Case of Guangzhou, China显示文摘Mobile information and communication technologies(MICTs) have fully penetrated everyday life in smart societies;this has greatly compressed time, space, and distance, and consequently, reshaped residents’ travel behaviour patterns. As a new mode of shared mobility, the sharing bicycle offers a variety of options for the daily travel of urban residents. Extant studies have mainly examined the travel characteristics and influencing factors of public bicycles with piles, while the travel patterns for sharing bicycles and their driving mechanisms have been largely ignored. Using one week’s travel data for Mobike, this study investigated the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of sharing bicycle travel behaviours in the central urban area of Guangzhou, China;furthermore, it identified the influences of built environment density factors on sharing bicycle travel behaviours based on the geographically weighted regression method. Obvious morning and evening peaks were observed in the sharing bicycle travel patterns for both weekdays and weekends. The old urban area, which had a high degree of mixed function, dense road networks, and cycling-friendly built environments, was the main travel area that attracted sharing bicycles on both weekdays and weekends. Furthermore, factors including the point of interest(POI) for the density of public transport stations, the functional mixing degree, and the density of residential POIs significantly affected residents’ travel behaviours. 5Straw return increases crop grain yields and K-use efficiency under a maize-rice cropping system显示文摘Straw return is an effective way to improve crop grain yield and potassium(K)use efficiency by increasing soil K content.However,the effects of straw return on soil K supplying capacity,replacement of K fertilizer,and K-use efficiency under maize(Zea mays L.)–rice(Oryza sativa L.)cropping systems are little studied.A two-year field experiment was conducted to determine the physiological determinants of K-use efficiency under straw return with four K fertilization rates.Sr33(straw returned plus 33%of K fertilizer applied)and Sr67(straw returned plus 67%of K fertilizer applied)increased annual crop yields by 1.5%and 3.2%and increased agronomic K-use efficiency by respectively 2.9 and 1.3-fold on average in the two years,compared with the conventional practice S0K100(no straw returned plus normal amounts of K fertilizer applied).The Sr33 and Sr67 treatments resulted in significantly greater equilibrium K concentration ratios(CR0 K)and specifically exchangeable K(KX)values according to quantity/intensity(Q/I)relationship analyses,indicating improvement of the potential soil K supply capacity.However,the Sr67 better maintained the soil exchangeable K level and K balance.The results suggested that K released from maize and rice straw can replace about half of chemical K fertilizer,depending on the available K content in maize–rice cropping system production.Yuling Han Wei Ma Baoyuan Zhou Akram Salah Mingjian Geng Cougui Cao Ming Zhan Ming Zhao 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,1:5
6Shear-responsive boundary-lubricated hydrogels attenuate osteoarthritis显示文摘Lipid-based boundary layers formed on liposome-containing hydrogels can facilitate lubrication.However,these boundary layers can be damaged by shear,resulting in decreased lubrication.Here,a shear-responsive boundary-lubricated drug-loaded hydrogel is created by incorporating celecoxib(CLX)-loaded liposomes within dynamic covalent bond-based hyaluronic acid(HA)hydrogels(CLX@Lipo@HA-gel).The dynamic cross-linked network enables the hydrogel to get restructured in response to shear,and the HA matrix allows the accumulation of internal liposome microreservoirs on the sliding surfaces,which results in the formation of boundary layers to provide stable lubrication.Moreover,hydration shells formed surrounding the hydrogel can retard the degradation process,thus helping in sustaining lubrication.Furthermore,in vitro and in vivo experiments found that CLX@Lipo@HA-gels can maintain anabolic-catabolic balance,alleviate cartilage wear,and attenuate osteoarthritis progression by delivering CLX and shear-responsive boundary lubrication.Overall,CLX@Lipo@HA-gels can serve as shear-responsive boundary lubricants and drug-delivery vehicles to alleviate friction-related diseases like osteoarthritis.Yiting Lei Xingkuan Wang Junyi Liao Jieliang Shen Yuling Li Zhengwei Cai Ning Hu Xiaoji Luo Wenguo Cui Wei Huang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,10:4
7Deformation transition of intact coal induced by gas injection显示文摘Gas migration in coal bed is a multiple-physical process, of which not only includes gas desorption/diffusion through coal matrix and gas Darcy flow through the cleat system, but also results in deformation of solid coal. Especially for enhanced coal bed methane(ECBM) and CO2 capture and sequestration(CCS), gas injection is mainly controlled by the gas diffusivity in the coal matrix and coal permeability.Although the relevant coal permeability models have been frequently developed, how the dual-porosity system of coal affects gas adsorption/diffusion is still poorly understood. In this paper, a series of experiments were carried out in order to investigate deformation evolution of intact coal subjected to hydrostatic pressure of different gases(including pure H2, N2 and CO2) under isotherm injection. In the testing process, the coal strain and injected gas pressure were measured simultaneously. The results show that the pressure of non-adsorptive helium remained unchanged throughout the isothermal injection process, in which the volumetric strain of the coal shrinked firstly and maintained unchanged at lower isobaric pressure. With the injected pressure increasing, the coal volume underwent a transition from shrinking to recovery(still less than initial volume of the coal). In contrast, N2 injection caused the coal to shrink firstly and then recover with decreasing gas pressure. The recovery volume was larger than the initial volume due to adsorption-induced swelling. For the case of CO2 injection, although the stronger adsorption effect could result in swelling of the solid coal, the presence of higher gas pressure appears to contribute the swelling coal to shrink. These results indicate that the evolution of coal deformation is time dependent throughout the migration of injected gas. From the mechanical characteristics of poroelastical materials, distribution of pore pressure within the coal is to vary with the gas injection,during which the pore pressure in the cleats will rapidly increase, in contrast, the pore pressure in the matrix will hysteretically elevate. Such a difference on changes of pore pressure between the cleats and the matrix will contribute to the shrinkage of the matrix as a result of initially greater effective stress.Besides, both gas-adsorption-induced swelling and decreasing effective stress also control the coal deformation transition. 11Detection of Prognostic Biomarkers for Hepatocellular Carcinoma through CircRNA-associated CeRNA Analysis显示文摘Background and Aims:The prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is extremely poor;therefore,there is an urgent need for novel prognostic molecular biomarkers of HCC.The current investigation utilized circular(circ)RNA-associated competing endogenous(ce)RNAs analysis in order to identify significant prognostic biomarkers of HCC.Methods:CircRNAs and mRNAs that were differentially expressed between normal and HCC tissues were identi-fied.Their respective functions were predicted with Gene Ontology enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analyses.A nomogram was used for model verification.Results:A ceRNA network composed of differentially expressed circRNAs and mRNAs was con-structed.Significant hub nodes in the ceRNA network were hsa_circ_0004662,hsa_circ_0005735,hsa_circ_0006990,hsa_circ_0018403 and hsa_circ_0100609.By using this in-formation,a prognostic risk assessment tool was developed based on the expressions of seven genes(PLOD2,TARS,RNF19B,CCT2,RAN,C5orf30 and MCM10).Furthermore,multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed risk and T-stage parameters as independent prognostic factors.The nomograms that were constructed from risk and T-stage groups were used to further assess the prediction of HCC patient survival rates.The nomogram,which consisted of risk and T-stage scores assessment models,was found to be an independent factor for predicting prognosis of HCC.Conclusions:Five circRNAs,including hsa_circ_0004662,hsa_circ_0005735,hsa_circ_0006990,hsa_circ_0018403 and hsa_circ_0100609,that may play key roles in the pro-gression of HCC were identified.Seven gene signatures were identified,which were associated with the aforemen-tioned circRNAs,including PLOD2,TARS,RNF19B,CCT2,RAN,C5orf30 and MCM10,all of which were significant genes involved in the pathophysiology of HCC.These genes may be used as a prognosticating tool in HCC patients.Li Han Maolong Wang Yuling Yang Hanlin Xu Lili Wei Xia Huang 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1:1
12Syntheses and Crystal Structures of Benzyl-and Cyclopentyl-Cyclopentadienyl Sodium Tetrahydrofuranate Complexes显示文摘The present paper covers syntheses and crystal structures of benzyl- and cy-clopentyl-cyclopentadienyl sodium tetrahydrofuranate complexes C6H5CH2C5H4Na·THF (1) and C5H9C5H4Na°THF (2). X-ray diffraction data of the title compounds were collected at a low temperature (about 210K). Structures of both the crystals belong to monoclinic space group P21/n with α=0. 9316(3) nm, b=1. 5161(4) nm, c= 0.9791(3) nm, β=91. 06(3)°Z=4 for (1) and α=1. 6120(7) nm, b=0. 9370(3) nm, c=1. 8475(7) nm, β=109.52(3)°Z = 8 for (2). Both structures were solved by using direct methods and refined by block-matrix least-squares to final values of R = 0. 044 for 520 observed reflections (1) and R = 0. 067 for 921 observed reflections (2). 14Dimensions estimation for cone-cylinder target based on sliding-type scatterers analysis显示文摘Scatterers often exhibit aspect or frequency dependence which affects the micro-Doppler shift in scattering response.For cone-cylinder targets, sliding-type scatterers which slide on the edge discontinuity with the change of the incident angle are the most dominant nonideal scattering models. A method is proposed to discriminate among the scatterers on the cone-cylinder target based on the deviation degree of micro-Doppler from sinusoid.By extracting the amplitude and initial phase, the micro-Doppler is estimated as sinusoid. Then the deviation degree is evaluated by the error between the extracted sinusoidal micro-Doppler and the actual micro-Doppler curve. Threshold for the classification is determined with the simulation data. After classification, the micro-Doppler features of sliding-type scatterers are exploited to estimate the target dimensions. 15Whole-brain patterns of the presynaptic inputs and axonal projections of BDNF neurons in the paraventricular nucleus显示文摘Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) plays a crucial role in human obesity. Yet, the neural circuitry supporting the BDNF-mediated control of energy homeostasis remains largely undefined. To map key regions that might provide inputs to or receive inputs from the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) BDNF neurons, a key type of cells in regulating feeding and thermogenesis, we used rabies virus-based transsynaptic labeling and adeno-associated virus based anterograde tracing techniques to reveal their whole-brain distributions. We found that dozens of brain regions provide dense inputs to or receive dense inputs from PVN BDNF neurons, including several known weight control regions and several novel regions that might be functionally important for the BDNF-mediated regulation of energy homeostasis.Interestingly, several regions show very dense reciprocal connections with PVN BDNF neurons, including the lateral septum, the preoptic area, the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus, the paraventricular thalamic nucleus, the zona incerta, the lateral parabrachial nucleus, the subiculum, the raphe magnus nucleus, and the raphe pallidus nucleus. These strong anatomical connections might be indicative of important functional connections. 17Oxidized galectin-1 in SLE fails to bind the inhibitory receptor VSTM1 and increases reactive oxygen species levels in neutrophils显示文摘Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation,and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses.However,the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown,representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases.Here,we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1(VSTM1)is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1(Gal1)is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production.However,in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),circulating Gal1 is oxidized and cannot be recognized by VSTM1,leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species levels and reduced neutrophil viability.Dysregulated neutrophil function or death contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of SLE by providing danger molecules and autoantigens that drive the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of autoreactive lymphocytes.Interestingly,serum levels of glutathione,an antioxidant able to convert oxidized Gal1 to its reduced form,were negatively correlated with SLE disease activity.Taken together,our findings reveal failed inhibitory Gal1/VSTM1 pathway activation in patients with SLE and provide important insights for the development of effective targeted therapies.Xu Jiang Xinyue Xiao Hao Li Yiyi Gong Min Wang Huaxia Yang Lidan Zhao Ying Jiang Yanping Wei Chongchong Zhao Jin Li Yuling Chen Shan Feng Haiteng Deng Shiliang Ma Yue Xu Yudong Liu George C.Tsokos Minghong Jiang Xuan Zhan 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11:1
18An analysis of structure fitting and bioactivity between sex pheromone of cotton boll-worm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) and its fluorinated analogs显示文摘A study on the structure-activty relationship between (Z)-hexadec-9-enal (Z-9-16:Ald) and its analog was conducted by comparing the structures of the sex pheromone of cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) with its fluorinated analog using computer molecular fitting. It is demonstrated that the structure of analog substituting for hydrogen atom on the terminal carbon atom is similar to Z-9-16:Ald.
