2Whole-brain patterns of the presynaptic inputs and axonal projections of BDNF neurons in the paraventricular nucleus显示文摘Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) plays a crucial role in human obesity. Yet, the neural circuitry supporting the BDNF-mediated control of energy homeostasis remains largely undefined. To map key regions that might provide inputs to or receive inputs from the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) BDNF neurons, a key type of cells in regulating feeding and thermogenesis, we used rabies virus-based transsynaptic labeling and adeno-associated virus based anterograde tracing techniques to reveal their whole-brain distributions. We found that dozens of brain regions provide dense inputs to or receive dense inputs from PVN BDNF neurons, including several known weight control regions and several novel regions that might be functionally important for the BDNF-mediated regulation of energy homeostasis.Interestingly, several regions show very dense reciprocal connections with PVN BDNF neurons, including the lateral septum, the preoptic area, the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus, the paraventricular thalamic nucleus, the zona incerta, the lateral parabrachial nucleus, the subiculum, the raphe magnus nucleus, and the raphe pallidus nucleus. These strong anatomical connections might be indicative of important functional connections. Therefore, we provide an outline of potential neural circuitry mediated by PVN BDNF neurons, which might be helpful to resolve the complex obesity network.Fang Luo Yuling Mu Cuicui Gao Yan Xiao Qian Zhou Yiqing Yang Xinyan Ni Wei L.Shen Jiajun Yang 2019Journal of Genetics and Genomics2019,46,1:1
3Recent progress and future perspectives of flexible metal‐air batteries显示文摘With the rapid development of wearable and intelligent flexible electronic devices(FEDs),the demand for flexible energy storage/conversion devices(ESCDs)has also increased.Rechargeable flexible metal‐air batteries(MABs)are expected to be one of the most ideal ESCDs due to their high theoretical energy density, cost advantage, and strong deformation adaptability. With the improvement of the device design, material assemblies, and manufacturing technology, the research on the electrochemical performance of flexible MABs has made significant progress. However, achieving the high mechanical flexibility, high safety, and wearable comfortability required by FEDs while maintaining the high performance of flexible MABs are still a daunting challenge. In this review, flexible Zn‐air and Li‐air batteries are mainly exemplified to describe the most recent progress and challenges of flexible MABs.We start with an overview of the structure and configuration of the flexible MABs and discuss their impact on battery performance and function. Then it focuses on the research progress of flexible metal anodes, gel polymer electrolytes, and air cathodes. Finally, the main challenges and future research perspectives involving flexible MABs for FEDs are proposed.Tingzhen Li Xinwen Peng Peng Cui Ge Shi Wu Yang Zehong Chen Yongfa Huang Yongkang Chen Jinyuan Peng Ren Zou Xiaoyan Zeng Jian Yu Jianyun Gan Zhiyuan Mu Yuling Chen Jiaming Zeng Juan Liu Yunyi Yang Yujia Wei Jun Lu 2021SmartMat2021,2,4:1
4RBM46 is essential for gametogenesis and functions in post-transcriptional roles affecting meiotic cohesin subunits显示文摘RBM46 is a germ cell-specific RNA-binding protein required for gametogenesis, but the targets and molecular functions of RBM46 remain unknown. Here,we demonstrate that RBM46 binds at specific motifs in the 3'UTRs of mRNAs encoding multiple meiotic cohesin subunits and show that RBM46 is required for normal synaptonemal complex formation during meiosis initiation.Using a recently reported,high-resolution technique known as LACE-seq and working with low-input cells,we profiled the targets of RBM46 at single-nucleotide resolution in leptotene and zygotene stage gametes. We found that RBM46 preferentially binds target mRNAs containing GCCUAU/GUUCGA motifs in their 3'UTRs regions. In Rbm46 knockout mice, the RBM46-target cohesin subunits displayed unaltered mRNA levels but had reduced translation, resulting in the failed assembly of axial elements, synapsis disruption, and meiotic arrest. Our study thus provides mechanistic insights into the molecular functions of RBM46 in gametogenesis and illustrates the power of LACE-seq for investigations of RNA-binding protein functions when working with low-abundance input materials.Yue Lv Gang Lu Yuling Cai Ruibao Su Liang Liang Xin Wang Wenyu Mu Xiuqing He Tao Huang Jinlong Ma Yueran Zhao Zi-Jiang Chen Yuanchao Xue Hongbin Liu Wai-Yee Chan 2023Protein & Cell2023,14,1:0
