| 1 | A hydrometallurgical method of energy saving type for separation of rare earth elements from rare earth polishing powder wastes with middle fraction of ceria显示文摘This study described a hydrometallurgical method to investigate the separation of rare earth elements(REEs)from rare earth polishing powder wastes(REPPWs)containing large amounts of rare earth oxides with a major phase of CeO_2 and minor phases of La_2O_3,Pr_2O_3,and Nd_2O_3 using a process devised by the authors.The suggested approach consisted of five processes:the synthesis of NaR E(SO_4)_2·xH_2O from rare earth oxides in Na_2SO_4-H_2SO_4-H_2 O solutions(Process 1),the conversion of NaR E(SO_4)_2·xH_2O into RE(OH)_3 using NaO H(Process 2),and the oxidation of Ce(OH)_3 into Ce(OH)_4 using air with O_2 injection(Process 3),followed by Processes 4 and 5 for separation of REEs by acid leaching using HCl and H_2SO_4,respectively.To confirm the high yield of NaR E(SO_4)_2·xH_2O in Process 1,experiments were carried out under various Na_2SO_4 concentrations(0.4–2.5 mol/L),sulfuric acid concentrations(6–14 mol/L),and reaction temperatures(95–125 oC).In addition,the effect of the pH value on the separation of Ce(OH)_4 in HCl-H_2 O solutions with Ce(OH)_4,La-,Pr-,and Nd(OH)_3 in Process 4 was also investigated.On the basis of above results,the possibility of effective separation of REEs from REPPWs could be confirmed. | UM Namil HIRATO Tetsuji | 2016 | Journal of Rare Earths2016，34，5： | 13 |

| 4 | The increase in surface CXCR4 expression on lung extravascular neutrophils and its effects on neutrophils during endotoxin-induced lung injury显示文摘Inflammatory stimuli,such as a microbes or lipopolysaccharides,induce a rapid release of neutrophils from the bone marrow and promote neutrophil migration into inflamed sites to promote host defense.However,an excess accumulation and retention of neutrophils in inflamed tissue can cause severe tissue injuries in the later stages of inflammation.Recent studies have reported that both CXCL12 levels in injured lungs and its receptor,CXCR4,on accumulated neutrophils in injured lungs,increased;furthermore,these studies showed that the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway participated in neutrophil accumulation in the later stages of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced lung injury.However,the mechanisms underlying this increase in surface CXCR4 expression in neutrophils remain unclear.In this study,we found that surface CXCR4 expression increased in extravascular,but not intravascular,neutrophils in the lungs of LPS-induced lung injury model mice.Furthermore,ex vivo studies revealed that CXCL12 acted not only as a chemoattractant,but also as a suppressor of cell death for the lung neutrophils expressing CXCR4.Sulfatide,one of the native ligands for L-selectin,induced the increase of surface CXCR4 expression on isolated circulating neutrophils,suggesting that the activation of L-selectin may be involved in the increase in surface CXCR4.Our findings show that surface CXCR4 levels on neutrophils increase after extravasation into injured lungs,possibly through the activation of L-selectin.The CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway plays an important role in the modulation of neutrophil activity during acute lung injury,not only by promoting chemotaxis but also by suppressing cell death. | Mitsuhiro Yamada Hiroshi Kubo Seiichi Kobayashi Kota Ishizawa Mei He Takaya Suzuki Naoya Fujino Hiroyuki Kunishima Masamitsu Hatta Katsushi Nishimaki Tetsuji Aoyagi Kouichi Tokuda Miho Kitagawa Hisakazu Yano Hirokazu Tamamura Nobutaka Fujii Mitsuo Kaku | 2011 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011，8，4： | 6 |
| 5 | Factors associated with incomplete colonoscopy at a Japanese academic hospital显示文摘AIM:To evaluate significant risk factors for incomplete colonoscopy at a Japanese academic hospital.METHODS:A total of 11812 consecutive Japanese people were identified who underwent a colonoscopy at an academic hospital.A multiple logistic regression model was used to evaluate retrospectively the significant risk factors for incomplete colonoscopy.RESULTS:The cecal intubation rate was 95.0%.By univariate analysis,age,female sex,poor bowel cleansing,and a history of abdominal or pelvic surgery were significant risk factors for incomplete colonoscopy(P<0.001).Moreover,age-and sex-adjusted analysis showed that significant risk factors for incomplete colonoscopy were female sex(OR=1.38,95%CI:1.17-1.64,P=0.0002),age≥60 years old(OR=1.44,95%CI:1.22-1.71,P<0.0001),a history of prior abdominal or pelvic surgery(OR=1.55,95%CI:1.28-1.86,P<0.0001),poor bowel cleansing(OR=4.64,95%CI:3.69-5.84,P<0.0001),and inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)(OR=1.48,95%CI:1.13-1.95,P=0.0048).In Japanese men,by age-adjusted analysis,IBD(OR=1.69,95%CI:1.18-2.43,P=0.005)was an independent risk factor for incomplete colonoscopy.CONCLUSION:Several characteristics in the Japanese population were identified that could predict technical difficulty with colonoscopy. | Shigeo Koido Toshifumi Ohkusa Kosaburo Nakae Tetsuji Yokoyama Tomoyoshi Shibuya Naoto Sakamoto Kan Uchiyama Hiroshi Arakawa Taro Osada Akihito Nagahara Sumio Watanabe Hisao Tajiri | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，22： | 6 |

| 7 | Effects of estradiol and progesterone on the proinflammatory cytokine production by mononuclear cells from patients with chronic hepatitis C显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effects of estradiol (E2) and progesterone on the unstimulated and oxidative stressstimulated production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-8, and macrophage chemotactic protein (MCP)-1 by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with chronic hepatitis C and healthy controls. METHODS:The PBMCs were separated from agematched 72 males and 71 females with and without chronic hepatitis C, who were divided into two groups based on a mean menopausal age of 50 years. Oxidative stress was induced by hydrogen peroxide in the cells incubated in serum-free media. Cytokines in the culture supernatant were measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS:The highest levels of the spontaneous production of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-8, and MCP-1 by the unstimulated PBMCs were in the older male patients with chronic hepatitis C and the lowest levels were in the premenopausal female healthy controls. E2 inhibited the cytokine production by the unstimulated PBMCs from the older male and post-menopausal female patients, which was further stimulated by progesterone. The exposure to hydrogen peroxide in the PBMCs from the younger male and pre-menopausal female healthy subjects induced the production of cytokines. The change rates of the hydrogen peroxide-stimulated cytokine production were suppressed by E2 and enhanced by progesterone. | 8 | An autopsy case of a primary aortoenteric fistula: A pitfall of the endoscopic diagnosis显示文摘A primary aortoenteric fistula (PAEF), defined as a communication between the native aorta and the gastrointestinal tract, is a rare cause of gastrointes-tinal bleeding. The preoperative diagnosis of PAEF is extremely difficult. Consequently, PAEF may cause sudden and unexpected death. We present an autopsy case of a 68-year-old man who died of massive gastro-intestinal bleeding due to a PAEF. Autopsy revealed a pinhole rupture located on the third part of the duode-nal mucosa and fistulized into the adjacent abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Our case indicates that the aortoenteric fistula can result in fatal gastrointestinal bleeding. | 9 | Relationship between genetic polymorphisms of ALDH2 and ADH1B and esophageal cancer risk:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the contribution of alcohol dehydrogenase-1B(ADH1B)and aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2)polymorphisms to the risk of esophageal cancer.METHODS:Nineteen articles were included by searching MEDLINE,EMBASE and the Chinese Biomedical Database,13 on ADH1B and 18 on ALDH2.We performed a meta-analysis of case-control studies including 13 studies on ADH1B(cases/controls:2390/7100)and 18 studies on ALDH2(2631/6030).RESULTS:The crude odds ratio[OR(95%confidence interval)]was 2.91(2.04-4.14)for ADH1B*1/*1(vs ADH1B*2/*2)and 1.32(1.17-1.49)for ADH1B*1/*2.The crude OR for ALDH2*1/*2(vs ALDH2*1/*1)was 2.52(1.76-3.61).ADH1B*1/*1 increased the risk of esophageal cancer among never/rare[1.56(0.93-2.61)],moderate[2.71(1.37-5.35)],and heavy drinkers[3.22 (2.27-4.57)].ADH1B*1/*2 was associated with a modest risk among moderate drinkers[1.43(1.09-1.87)].ALDH2*1/*2 increased the risk among never/rare[1.28 (0.91-1.80)],moderate[3.12(1.95-5.01)],and heavy [7.12(4.67-10.86)]drinkers,and among ex-drinkers [5.64(1.57-20.25)].ALDH2*2/*2 increased the risk among drinkers[4.42(1.72-11.36)].ADH1B*1/*1 plus ALDH2*1/*2 was associated with the highest risk for heavy drinkers[12.45(2.9-53.46)].The results of the meta-regression analysis showed that the effects of ADH1B*1/*1 and ALDH2*1/*2 increased with the level of alcohol consumption.ALDH2*1/*2 was associated with a high risk among Taiwan Chinese and Japanese drinkers,as opposed to a moderate risk among drinkers in high-incidence regions of China's Mainland.ADH1B*1/*1 in heavy drinkers and ALDH2*1/*2 in moderate-toheavy drinkers was associated with similarly high risk among both men and women.CONCLUSION:ADH1B/ALDH2 genotypes affect the risk of esophageal cancer,and the risk is modified by alcohol consumption,ethnicity,and gender. | Shu-Juan Yang Akira Yokoyama Tetsuji Yokoyama Yu-Chuan Huang Si-Ying Wu Ying Shao Jin Niu Jie Wang Yu Liu Xiao-Qiao Zhou Chun-Xia Yang | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，33： | 3 |
