1Role of cetuximab in first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer显示文摘The treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)has evolved considerably in the last decade,currently allowing most mCRC patients to live more than two years.Monoclonal antibodies targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and vascular endothelial growth factor play an important role in the current treatment of these patients.However,only antibodies directed against EGFR have a predictive marker of response,which is the mutation status of v-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog(KRAS).Cetuximab has been shown to be effective in patients with KRAS wild-type mCRC.The CRYSTAL study showed that adding cetuximab to FOLFIRI(regimen of irinotecan,infusional fluorouracil and leucovorin)significantly improved results in the first-line treatment of KRAS wildtype mCRC.However,results that evaluate the efficacy of cetuximab in combination with oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy in this setting are contradictory.On the other hand,recent advances in the management of colorectal liver metastases have improved survival in these patients.Adding cetuximab to standard chemotherapy increases the response rate in patients with wild-type KRAS and can thus increase the resectability rate of liver metastases in this group of patients.In this paper we review the different studies assessing the efficacy of cetuximab in the first-line treatment of mCRC.Miguel Jhonatan Sotelo Beatriz García-Paredes Carlos Aguado Javier Sastre Eduardo Díaz-Rubio 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,15:7
2Hydrogen storage in a rare-earth perovskite-type oxide La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_3 for battery applications显示文摘Recently, rare-earth perovskite-type oxides with the general formula ABO_3(A rare earth element, B transition metal, O oxygen) are regarded as promising materials for Ni/oxide batteries due to their hydrogen storage ability. In the present study, the hydrogen storage properties of the rare-earth perovskite-type oxide La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_3 were evaluated in alkaline solution and at various temperatures. The hydrogen storage properties were investigated electrochemically by applying galvanostatic charge/discharge currents. Electrochemical pressurecomposition-temperature isotherms were constructed using the Nernst equation. The exchange current density and proton hydrogen diffusion coefficient were calculated using linear polarization measurements and the potential-step method, respectively. Interestingly, the maximum hydrogen absorption capacity, re-calculated from the electrochemical capacity, is 1.72 wt% at 333 K and 6 mol·L^(-1)KOH. 3Should capecitabine replace 5-fluorouracil in the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer?显示文摘Fluoropyrimidines play a central role in the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.Our aim was to review whether capecitabine was a safer,non-inferior,economically superior and more convenient alternative to 5-fluorouracil.Capecitabine has previously been compared to 5-fluorouracil-either as a monotherapy or in combination with oxaliplatin,irinotecan,or biological drugs-and has been found to have comparable efficacy and safety profiles.Furthermore,pharmacoeconomic data and patients’preferences for oral chemotherapy further favor capecitabine.Therefore,capecitabine appears to be an effective and safe alternative to fluorouracil in the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.Carlos Aguado Beatriz García-Paredes Miguel Jhonatan Sotelo Javier Sastre Eduardo Díaz-Rubio 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,20:4
4Science Letters:Blind spot detection using vision for automotive applications显示文摘This paper describes a vision-based system for blind spot detection (BSD) in intelligent vehicle applications. A camera is mounted in the lateral mirror of a car with the intention of visually detecting cars that are located in the so-called blind spot and cannot be perceived by the vehicle driver. 5Fast preparation route to high-performances textured Sr-doped Ca_3Co_4O_9 thermoelectric materials through precursor powder modification显示文摘This work presents a short and very efficient method to produce high performance textured Ca_3Co_4O_9 thermoelectric materials through initial powders modification. Microstructure has shown good grain orientation, and low porosity while slightly lower grain sizes were obtained in samples prepared from attrition milled powders. All samples show the high density of around 96% of the theoretical value.These similar characteristics are reflected in, approximately,the same electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient values for both types of samples. However, in spite of similar power factor(PF) at low temperatures, it is slightly higher at high temperature for the attrition milled samples. On the other hand, the processing time reduction(from 38 to 2 h) when using attrition milled precursors, leads to lower mechanical properties in these samples. 7Ketamine use disorder:preclinical,clinical,and neuroimaging evidence to support proposed mechanisms of actions显示文摘Ketamine,a noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)receptor antagonist,has been exclusively used as an anesthetic in medicine and has led to new insights into the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders.Clinical studies have shown that low subanesthetic doses of ketamine produce antidepressant effects for individuals with depression.However,its use as a treatment for psychiatric disorders has been limited due to its reinforcing effects and high potential for diversion and misuse.Preclinical studies have focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying ketamine’s antidepressant effects,but a precise mechanism had yet to be elucidated.Here we review different hypotheses for ketamine’s mechanism of action including the direct inhibition and disinhibition of NMDA receptors,aminomethylphosphonic acid receptors(AMPAR)activation,and heightened activation of monoaminergic systems.The proposed mechanisms are not mutually exclusive,and their combined influence may exert the observed structural and functional neural impairments.Long term use of ketamine induces brain structural,functional impairments,and neurodevelopmental effects in both rodents and humans.Its misuse has increased rapidly in the past 20 years and is one of the most common addictive drugs used in Asia.The proposed mechanisms of action and supporting neuroimaging data allow for the development of tools to identify‘biotypes’of ketamine use disorder(KUD)using machine learning approaches,which could inform intervention and treatment.Leah Vines Diana Sotelo Allison Johnson Evan Dennis Peter Manza Nora D.Volkow Gene-Jack Wang 2022Intelligent Medicine2022,2,2:2
8Science Letters:Visual odometry for road vehicles—feasibility analysis显示文摘Estimating the global position of a road vehicle without using GPS is a challenge that many scientists look forward to solving in the near future. Normally, inertial and odometry sensors are used to complement GPS measures in an attempt to provide a means for maintaining vehicle odometry during GPS outage. Nonetheless, recent experiments have demonstrated that computer vision can also be used as a valuable source to provide what can be denoted as visual odometry. For this purpose, vehicle motion can be estimated using a non-linear, photogrametric approach based on RAndom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC). The results prove that the detection and selection of relevant feature points is a crucial factor in the global performance of the visual odometry algorithm.
