| 1 | Chemical characteristics of fine particles and their impact on visibility impairment in Shanghai based on a 1-year period observation显示文摘In this work, a one-year observation focusing on high time resolution characteristics of components in fine particles was conducted at an urban site in Shanghai. Contributions of different components on visibility impairment were also studied. Our research indicates that the major components of PM_(2.5) in Shanghai are water-soluble inorganic ions and carbonaceous aerosol, accounting for about 60% and 30% respectively. Higher concentrations of sulfate(SO42-) and organic carbon(OC) in PM_(2.5) occurred in fall and summer, while higher concentrations of nitrate(NO_3^-) were observed in winter and spring. The mass concentrations of Cl^- and K^+ were higher in winter. Moreover, NO_3^- increased significantly during PM_(2.5) pollution episodes. The high values observed for the sulfate oxidizing rate(SOR), nitrate oxidizing rate(NOR) and secondary organic carbon(SOC) in OC indicate that photochemical reactions were quite active in Shanghai. The IMPROVE(Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments) formula was used in this study to investigate the contributions of individual PM_(2.5) chemical components to the light extinction efficient in Shanghai. Both NH_4NO_3 and(NH_4)_2SO_4 had close relationships with visibility impairment in Shanghai. | 3 | Pressure and Temperature Feasibility of NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Data at Mt.Everest显示文摘Mt.Everest (27°54' N,86°54' E),the highest peak,is often referred to as the earth's 'third' pole,at an elevation of 8844.43 m. Due to the difficult logistics in the extreme high elevation regions over the Himalayas,observational meteorological data are very few on Mt. Everest. In 2005,an automatic weather station was operated at the East Rongbuk glacier Col of Mt. Everest over the Himalayas. The observational data have been compared with the reanalysis data from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR),and the reliability of NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data has been investigated in the Himalayan region,after the reanalyzed data were interpolated in the horizontal to the location of Mt. Everest and in the vertical to the height of the observed sites. The reanalysis data can capture much of the synoptic-scale variability in temperature and pressure,although the reanalysis values are systematically lower than the observation. Furthermore,most of the variability magnitude is,to some degree,underestimated. In addition,the variation extracted from the NCEP/NCAR reanalyzed pressure and temperature prominently appears one-day lead to that from the observational data,which is more important from the standpoint of improving the safety of climbers who attempt to climb Mt. | 4 | Generating heralded single photons with a switchable orbital angular momentum mode显示文摘The orbital angular momentum(OAM) carried by photons defines an infinitely dimensional discrete Hilbert space. With OAM modes, high-dimensional quantum states can be achieved for quantum communication and cryptography. Here we demonstrate a heralded single-photon source with a switchable OAM mode, which consists of a heralded single-photon source and an integrated OAM emitter as the mode converter. As the first step, the heralded single-photon source is based on the dispersion-shifted fiber. | 9 | Biological characteristics and conservation genetics of the narrowly distributed rare plant Cinnamomum chago(Lauraceae)显示文摘Cinnamomum chago(family Lauraceae) is an essential source of timber and oil.This plant is narrowly distributed in the western part of the Yunnan Province.In this study,the distribution,habitat,and biological characteristics of C.chago were examined through field investigation.The genetic diversity and the variation of the remnant populations were also studied using the inter-simple sequence repeat technique.Results showed that C.chago is mainly distributed in the upstream tributary mountains of Lancang River in Yunlong County of Yunnan Province.The species distribution exhibited a fragmented pattern with five isolated populations and high-frequency anthropogenic interference.A combination of morphological features(opposite leaves,pinnate leaf veins,absence of glandular fossa,large drupe,small punch,and pollen surface with triangular spike grain,with cushion bumps at the base) indicated that C.chago is a key phylogenetic taxon between the two sections of Asian Cinnamomum plants(Sect.Camphora(Trew) Meissn.and Sect.Cinnamomum).Analysis of the genetic diversity of C.chago indicated that it has a moderately high level of genetic diversity at the population and species levels(populations level:N_e = 1.629,H = 0.348,1= 0.504,and PPB = 83.3%;species level:N_e = 1.864,H = 0.460,1 = 0.652,and PPB = 100%).Analysis of molecular variance revealed that 17%of the genetic variation was divided between the populations,whereas 83%was observed within the populations.Based on these results,we suggest the inclusion of C.chago in the Wild Plants with Extremely Small Populations in China.Moreover,the species should be given special attention and protection.Some strategies were proposed for the conservation of the C.chago populations. | Wenjing Dong Xue Zhang Yang Guansong Liu Yang Yuehua Wang Shikang Shen | 2016 | Plant Diversity2016,38,5: | 1 |

| 11 | Responses in gross primary production of Stipa krylovii and Allium polyrhizum to a temporal rainfall in a temperate grassland of Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘In the arid and semi-arid areas of China, rainfall and drought affect the growth and photosynthetic activities of plants.Gross primary productivity(GPP) is one of the most important indices that measure the photosynthetic ability of plants.This paper focused on the GPP of two representative grassland species(Stipa krylovii Roshev.and Allium polyrhizum Turcz.ex Regel) to demonstrate the effect of a temporal rainfall on the two species.Our research was conducted in a temperate grassland in New Barag Right Banner, Hulun Buir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, in a dry year 2015.We measured net ecosystem productivity(NEP) and ecosystem respiration flux(ER) using a transparent chamber system and monitored the photosynthetically active radiation(PAR), air and soil temperature and humidity simultaneously.Based on the measured values of NEP and ER, we calculated the GPP of the two species before and after the rainfall.The saturated GPP per aboveground biomass(GPPAGB) of A.polyrhizum remarkably increased from 0.033(±0.018) to 0.185(±0.055) μmol CO2/(gdw·s) by 5.6-fold and that of S.krylovii decreased from 0.068(±0.021) to 0.034(±0.011) μmol CO2/(gdw·s) by 0.5-fold on the 1st and 2nd d after a 9.1 mm rainfall event compared to the values before the rainfall at low temperatures below 35℃.However, on the 1st and 2nd d after the rainfall, both of the saturated GPPAGB values of S.krylovii and A.polyrhizum were significantly lower at high temperatures above 35℃(0.018(±0.007) and 0.110(±0.061) μmol CO2/(gdw·s), respectively) than at low temperatures below 35℃(0.034(±0.011) and 0.185(±0.055) μmol CO2/(gdw·s), respectively).The results showed that the GPP responses to the temporal rainfall differed between S.krylovii and A.polyrhizum and strongly negative influenced by temperature.The temporal rainfall seems to be more effective on the GPP of A.polyrhizum than S.krylovii.These differences might be related to the different physiological and structural features, the coexistence of the species and their species-specific survival strategies. | HU Xiaoxing Mitsuru HIROTA Wuyunna Kiyokazu KAWADA LI Hao MENG Shikang Kenji TAMURA Takashi KAMIJO | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019,11,6: | 1 |

| 15 | Fracture features of brittle coal under uniaxial and cyclic compression loads显示文摘Under the efects of complex geological and stress environments,burst hazards continue to be a major challenge for underground space utilization and deep resources exploration as its occurrence can lead to personnel causalities,equipment damage and structural collapse.Considering the stress path experienced by in-situ coal body,cyclic loading appears in quite various forms for instance shearer cutting,overlying strata breakage,hydro-fracturing and blasting,during tunnel,mining and underground space utilizing process.The stability of the underground coal body subject to periodic loading/unloading stress is extremely important for maintain the function of designed engineering structure for waste storage,safe mining,roadway development,gas recovery,carbon sequestration and so on.The mechanical properties of hard rock subject to cyclic fatigue loads has been intensively investigated by many researchers as the rock burst induced by supercritical loads has long been a safety risk and engineering problems for civil and tunneling engineering under deep overburden.More recently,the mechanical properties of coal samples under cyclic fatigue loads is investigated from the aspect of hysteresis,energy dissipation and irreversible damage as the burst hazards of brittle coal is rising in many countries.However,the crack propagation and fracture pattern of brittle coal need more research to understand the micro mechanism of burst incubation subject to cyclic fatigue loads as brittle coal can store more elastic strain energy and rapidly release the energy when its ultimate strength once reached.This research studied the internal crack status corresponding to diferent cyclic fatigue loading stage of brittle coal samples.The AE monitoring was applied during the uniaxial and cyclic loading process of brittle coal samples to record the crack intensity of samples at diferent loading stages.The damage evolution curve corresponding to loading status was then determined.The fracture pattern of coal samples determined by micro-CT scan was observed and discussed.It has been found by this paper that brittle coal of uniaxial compression tests demonstrated sudden failure caused by major splitting fracture while that of cyclic fatigue tests experienced progressive failure with mixture fracture network. | Shikang Song Ting Ren Linming Dou Jian Sun Xiaohan Yang Lihai Tan | 2023 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2023,10,1: | 0 |
| 16 | Air tightness of compressed air storage energy caverns with polymer sealing layer subjected to various air pressures显示文摘During the operation of compressed air storage energy system,the rapid change of air pressure in a cavern will cause drastic changes in air density and permeability coefficient of sealing layer.To calculate and properly evaluate air tightness of polymer sealing caverns,the air-pressure-related air density and permeability must be considered.In this context,the high-pressure air penetration in the polymer sealing layer is studied in consideration of thermodynamic change of the cavern structure during the system operation.The air tightness model of compressed air storage energy caverns is then established.In the model,the permeability coefficient and air density of sealing layer vary with air pressure,and the effectiveness of the model is verified by field data in two test caverns.Finally,a compressed air storage energy cavern is taken as an example to understand the air tightness.The air leakage rate in the caverns is larger than that using air-pressure-independent permeability coefficient and air density,which is constant and small in the previous leakage rate calculation.Under the operating pressure of 4.5-10 MPa,the daily air leakage in the compressed air storage energy cavern of Yungang Mine with high polymer butyl rubber as the sealing material is 0.62%,which can meet the sealing requirements of compressed air storage energy caverns.The air tightness of the polymer sealing cavern is mainly affected by the cavern operating pressure,injected air temperature,cavern radius,and sealing layer thickness.The cavern air leakage rate will be decreased to reduce the cavern operating pressure the injection air temperature,or the cavern radius and sealing layer thickness will be increased. | Shikang Qin Caichu Xia Shuwei Zhou | 2023 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,8: | 0 |

| 19 | Single particle analysis of ambient aerosols in Shanghai during the World Exposition,2010:two case studies显示文摘ATSI Model 3800 aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer(ATOFMS)was deployed for single-particle analysis in Shanghai during theWorld Exposition(EXPO),2010.Measurements on two extreme cases:polluted day(1st May)and clean day(25th September)were compared to show how meteorological conditions affected the concentration and composition of ambient aerosols.Mass spectra of 90496 and 50407 particles were analyzed respectively during the two sampling periods.The ART-2a neural network algorithm was applied to sort the collected particles.Seven major classes of particles were obtained:dust,sea salt,industrial,biomass burning,organic carbon(OC),elementary carbon(EC),and NH4-rich particles.Number concentration of ambient aerosols showed a strong anti-correlation with the boundary layer height variation.The external mixing states of aerosols were quite different during two sampling periods because of different air parcel trajectories.Number fraction of biomass burning particles(43.3%)during polluted episode was much higher than that(21.6%)of clean time.Air parcels from the East China Sea on clean day diluted local pollutant concentration and increased the portion of sea salt particle dramatically(13.3%).The large contribution of biomass burning particles in both cases might be an indication of a constant regional background of biomass burning emission.Mass spectrum analysis showed that chemical compositions and internal mixing states of almost all the particle types were more complicate during polluted episode compared with those observed in clean time.Strong nitrate signals in the mass spectra suggested that most of the particles collected on polluted day had gone through some aging processes before reaching the sampling site. | Shikang TAO Xinning WANG Hong CHEN Xin YANG Mei LI Lei LI Zhen ZHOU | 2011 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,3: | 0 |

The fluorescent characteristics of these compounds and the complexes formed from these compounds with different metal ionshave also been investigated. The results show that compound 1 possesses a specific ability to form complex with Cu2+ ions, but compound2 has not such a property.
