1Investigation and assessment on mountain tunnels and geotechnical damage after the Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘On May 12, 2008, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 (Ms) struck Wenchuan town, in the eastern Sichuan area of west China. Following the earthquake on May 18, the Southwest Jiaotong University organized a damage survey team and dispatched it to the affected area for the investigation into the damage and collection of information and data. This paper outlines the findings of this investigation on the earthquake disaster to mountain tunnels and geotechnical engineering. The systematic investigation, involving geological conditions, design documents, construction and maintenance records of the tunnels, has been conducted and the degree of damage to investigated tunnels has been assessed according to the width and length of cracks, the stability of the slope above the tunnel, and the condition of the groundwater inrush. The results show that the major damage of the mountain tunnels was mainly concentrated in the tunnel portals due to widespread landslides and rockfalls, and the inner part of investigated tunnels suffered moderate damages mainly due to fault displacements. 2Identification of a novel coronavirus causing severe pneumonia in human:a descriptive study显示文摘Background:Human infections with zoonotic coronaviruses(CoVs),including severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS)-CoV,have raised great public health concern globally.Here,we report a novel batorigin CoV causing severe and fatal pneumonia in humans.Methods:We collected clinical data and bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)specimens from five patients with severe pneumonia from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,Hubei province,China.Nucleic acids of the BAL were extracted and subjected to next-generation sequencing.Virus isolation was carried out,and maximum-likelihood phylogenetic trees were constructed.Results:Five patients hospitalized from December 18 to December 29,2019 presented with fever,cough,and dyspnea accompanied by complications of acute respiratory distress syndrome.Chest radiography revealed diffuse opacities and consolidation.One of these patients died.Sequence results revealed the presence of a previously unknownβ-CoV strain in all five patients,with 99.8%to 99.9%nucleotide identities among the isolates.These isolates showed 79.0%nucleotide identity with the sequence of SARS-CoV(GenBank NC_004718)and 51.8%identity with the sequence of MERS-CoV(GenBank NC_019843).The virus is phylogenetically closest to a bat SARS-like CoV(SL-ZC45,GenBank MG772933)with 87.6%to 87.7%nucleotide identity,but is in a separate clade.Moreover,these viruses have a single intact open reading frame gene 8,as a further indicator of bat-origin CoVs.However,the amino acid sequence of the tentative receptor-binding domain resembles that of SARS-CoV,indicating that these viruses might use the same receptor.Conclusion:A novel bat-borne CoV was identified that is associated with severe and fatal respiratory disease in humans.Li-Li Ren Ye-Ming Wang Zhi-Qiang Wu Zi-Chun Xiang Li Guo Teng Xu Yong-Zhong Jiang Yan Xiong Yong-Jun Li Xing-Wang Li Hui Li Guo-Hui Fan Xiao-Ying Gu Yan Xiao Hong Gao Jiu-Yang Xu Fan Yang Xin-Ming Wang Chao Wu Lan Chen Yi-Wei Liu Bo Liu Jian Yang Xiao-Rui Wang Jie Dong Li Li Chao-Lin Huang Jian-Ping Zhao Yi Hu Zhen-Shun Cheng Un-Lin Liu Zhao-Hui Qian Chuan Qin Qi Jin Bin Cao Jian-Wei Wang 2020Chinese Medical Journal2020,,9:99

5Colorectal cancer in Guangdong Province of China:A demographic and anatomic survey显示文摘AIM:To determine the basic demographic features of colorectal cancer (CRC) in five hospitals located in four different areas of Guangdong Province,China.METHODS:A review of patient records from 1986 to 2006 from five hospitals was conducted. Patient data was obtained,including age,gender,location of le-sions,staging and histological type of CRC. The Chi-square test was used to assess differences in rates and a significance level of 0.05 was used. Univariate com-parisons were made via Fisher's exact tests.RESULTS:Analysis was carried out on 8172 CRC patents,6.1% (499/8172) of the patients were aged ≤ 30 years. The peak incidence was between the ages 61-70 years (27.8%). The mean age at CRC diagnosis increased from 52 years (1986-1988) to 60 years(2004-2006) and the proportion of young CRC patients decreased from 8.0% to 5.9% over the same period. Of 8172 lesions,4434 (54.3%) were located in rectum and 3738 (45.7%) in colon. The incidence of rectal cancer decreased significantly from 59.4% (1989-1991) to 51.8% (2004-2006) and right sided colon cancer increased from 40.6% to 48.2%. The mean age,ana-tomic distribution,histological type and differentiation degree were significantly different among the four geographical areas (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The hospitalization rate for CRC has increased in Guangdong in recent years. The characteristics of CRC from the five hospitals located in the four different areas of Guangdong Province are also different. 6Relationship between nano-scale deformation of coal structure and metamorphic-deformed environments显示文摘There is a more consanguineous relation be-tween nano-scale deformation of coal structure and meta-morphic-deformed environment. In different metamor-phic-deformed environments, deformation in the coal struc-ture can occur not only at micro-scale, but also at nano-scale, and even leads to the change of molecular structure and nano-scale pore (<100 nm) structure. The latter is the main space absorbing coalbed methane. Through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and liquid–nitrogen absorption methods, the charac-teristics of macromolecular and nano-scale pore structures of coals in different metamorphic-deformed environments and deformational series of coals have been studied. By combin-ing with high-resolution transmission electron microcopy (HRTEM), the macromolecular and nano-scale pore struc-tures are also directly observed. These results demonstrate that the stacking Lc of the macromolecular BSU in tectonic coals increases quickly from the metamorphic-deformed environment of low rank coals to that of high rank coals. For different deformed tectonic coals, in the same metamor-phic-deformed environment, the difference of Lc is obvious. These changes reflect chiefly the difference of different tem-perature and stress effect of nano-scale deformation in tec-tonic coals. The factor of temperature plays a greater role in the increase of macromolecular structure parameters Lc, the influence of stress factor is also important. With the stress strengthening, Lc shows an increasing trend, and La /Lc shows a decreasing trend. Therefore, Lc and La /Lc can be used as the indicator of nano-scale deformation degree of tectonic coals. With increasing temperature and pressure, especially oriented stress, the orientation of molecular structure be-comes stronger, and ordering degree of C-nets and the ar-rangement of BSU are obviously enhanced. For the deforma-tion of nano-scale pore structure, in the same metamor-phic-deformed environment, along with the strengthening of stress, the ratio of mesopores to its total pores volume of tec-tonic coals reduces to a large extent, the ratio of volume of micropores and the pores whose diameters are lower than micropores increases, and sub-micropores and ultra- micro-pores can be found. Moreover, the ratio of specific surface area of mesopores to its total pores reduces rapidly while theamount of sub-micropores increases more quickly. The duc-tile structure coal has a change in pore parameters similar to that of weak brittle deformation. There are differences in the deformation and evolution of nano-scale pore structure of different kinds of tectonic coals formed in different meta-morphic-deformational environments. 742,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. 8Volumetric-modulated arc therapy vs c-IMRT in esophageal cancer:A treatment planning comparison显示文摘AIM:To compare the volumetric-modulated arc therapy AT plans ith conventional sliding indo intensity-modulated radiotherapy c-I RT plans in esophageal cancer EC . METHODS:Tenty patients ith EC ere selected, including 5 cases located in the cervical, the upper, the middle and the lo er thorax, respectively. Five plans ere generated ith the eclipse planning system:three using c-IMRT with 5 fields (5F), 7 fields (7F) and 9 fields (9F), and two using VMAT with a single arc 1A and double arcs 2A . The treatment plans ere designed to deliver a dose of 60 Gy to the plan-ning target volume Tith the same constrains in a 2.0 Gy daily fraction, 5 d a eek. lans ere normalized to 95% of the T that received 100% of the prescribed dose. We examined the dose-volume histogram parameters of T and the organs at risk OAR such as lungs, spinal cord and heart. onitor units U and normal tissue complication probability NTC of OAR ere also reported. RESULTS:Both c-I RT and AT plans resulted in abundant dose coverage of T for EC of different locations. The dose conformity to T as improved as the number of field in c-IMRT or rotating arc in VMAT as increased. The doses to T and OAR in AT plans ere not statistically different in comparison ith c-I RT plans, ith the follo ing exceptions:in cervical and upper thoracic EC, the conformity index CI as higher in VMAT (1A 0.78 and 2A 0.8) than in c-IMRT (5F 0.62, 7F 0.66 and 9F 0.73) and homogeneity was slightly better in c-IMRT (7F 1.09 and 9F 1.07) than in VMAT (1A 1.1 and 2A 1.09). Lung V30 was lower in VMAT (1A 12.52 and 2A 12.29) than in c-IMRT (7F 14.35 and 9F 14.81). The humeral head doses were significantly increased in AT as against c-I RT. 9Comparison of quartz sand, anthracite, shale and biological ceramsite for adsorptive removal of phosphorus from aqueous solution显示文摘The choice of substrates with high phosphorus adsorption capacity is vital for sustainable phosphorus removal from waste water in constructed wetlands. In this study, four substrates were used: quartz sand, anthracite, shale and biological ceramsite. These substrate samples were characterized by Xray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy studies for their mineral components(chemical components) and surface characteristics. The dynamic experimental results revealed the following ranking order for total phosphorus(TP) removal efficiency: anthracite > biological ceramsite > shale > quartz sand. The adsorptive removal capacities for TP using anthracite, biological ceramsite, shale and quartz sand were 85.87, 81.44, 59.65, and 55.98 mg/kg, respectively. Phosphorus desorption was also studied to analyze the substrates' adsorption efficiency in wastewater treatment as well as the substrates' ability to be reused for treatment. It was noted that the removal performance for the different forms of phosphorus was dependent on the nature of the substrate and the adsorption mechanism. A comparative analysis showed that the removal of particulate phosphorus was much easier using shale. Whereas anthracite had the highest soluble reactive phosphorus(SRP) adsorptive capacity, biological ceramsite had the highest dissolved organic phosphorus(DOP) removal capacity. Phosphorus removal by shale and biological ceramsite was mainly through chemical adsorption, precipitation or biological adsorption. 10Ablation of gut microbiota alleviates obesity-induced hepatic steatosis and glucose intolerance by modulating bile acid metabolism in hamsters显示文摘Since metabolic process differs between humans and mice, studies were performed in hamsters, which are generally considered to be a more appropriate animal model for studies of obesityrelated metabolic disorders. The modulation of gut microbiota, bile acids and the farnesoid X receptor(FXR) axis is correlated with obesity-induced insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis in mice. However,the interactions among the gut microbiota, bile acids and FXR in metabolic disorders remained largely unexplored in hamsters. In the current study, hamsters fed a 60% high-fat diet(HFD) were administeredvehicle or an antibiotic cocktail by gavage twice a week for four weeks. Antibiotic treatment alleviated HFD-induced glucose intolerance, hepatic steatosis and inflammation accompanied with decreased hepatic lipogenesis and elevated thermogenesis in subcutaneous white adipose tissue(sWAT). In the livers of antibiotic-treated hamsters, cytochrome P450 family 7 subfamily B member 1(CYP7 B1) in the alternative bile acid synthesis pathway was upregulated, contributing to a more hydrophilic bile acid profile with increased tauro-β-muricholic acid(TβMCA). The intestinal FXR signaling was suppressed but remained unchanged in the liver. 11Behavior and mechanism of the adsorption/desorption of tectonically deformed coals显示文摘The physical and chemical texture of tectonically deformed coals produced by various formational mechanisms are different from those of primary coals,thus resulting in major differences among the physical properties of the reservoirs of these coals. We have studied the adsorption/desorption be-havior of tectonically deformed coals by the use of isothermal adsorption/desorption experiments un-der equilibrium moisture condition. Experiments of isothermal adsorption/desorption of methane or multi-component gases have indicated that,the adsorption curves of coals with a low degree of tec-tonic deformation conform to the type of isothermal adsorption curve described by the Langmuir equation; the methane adsorption curves of coals with strong tectonic deformation cannot be de-scribed by the Langmuir equation. The adsorption/desorption process of methane and multi-compo-nent gases in the deformed coals is not consistent with primary coals,which form an effect of hys-teresis in different kinds of tectonically deformed coals. With the change of pore structure of tectoni-cally deformed coals at reservoir condition,the added adsorbed CH4 in the experiments is desorbed on the pore surface of coals during the pressure reduction process. Thus,the result shows that the ad-sorption volume in the process of desorbing is greater than that in adsorbing. 12Effect of Surface Mechanical Attrition Treatment on Corrosion Behavior of 316 Stainless Steel显示文摘The nanocrystalline microstructure of the surface of 316 stainless steel (316SS) induced by surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) was determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The technique of hydrogen embrittlement was first used to obtain the information of the brittleness cleavage plane. The effects of SMAT and the following annealing process on the corrosion behavior of 316SS were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization curves and potentiostatic critical pitting temperature measurements. The results demonstrated that the nanocrystalline layer with an average grain size of 19 nm was produced. However, there were lots of cracks on the surface, which led to the degradation in the corrosion resistance of 316SS after SMAT. Nevertheless, after annealing treatment, the corrosion resistance of the nanocrystalline surface had been improved greatly. 13The linkage maps of Dendrobium species based on RAPD and SRAP markers显示文摘Dendrobium plants are used commonly as tonic herbs and health food in many Asian countries,especially in China.Here we report the genetic map construction of two Dendrobium species with a double pseudo-testcross strategy using random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD) and sequence-related amplified polymorphism(SRAP) markers.A F1 mapping population of 90 individuals was developed from a cross between D.officinale and D.hercoglossum.A total of 307 markers,including 209 RAPD and 98 SRAP,were identified and used for genetic linkage group(LG) analysis.The D.officinale linkage map consisted of 11 major linkage groups and 3 doublets,which covered 629.4 cM by a total of 62 markers with an average locus distance of 11.2 cM between two adjacent markers.The D.hercoglossum linkage map contained 112 markers mapped on 15 major and 4 minor linkage groups,spanning a total length of 1,304.6 cM with an average distance of 11.6 cM between two adjacent markers.The maps constructed in this study covered 92.7% and 82.7% of the D.hercoglossum and D.officinale genomes respectively,providing an important basis for the mapping of horticultural and medicinal traits and for the application of marker-assisted selection in Dendrobium breeding program.Dawei Xue Shangguo Feng Hongyan Zhao Hua Jiang Bo Shen Nongnong Shi Jiangjie Lu Junjun Liu Huizhong Wang 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,3:26
14Initial identification of heavy metals contamination in Taihu Lake, a eutrophic lake in China显示文摘A detailed investigation of seven heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Cr, As, Pb, Zn, Ni) in the water column, interstitial water and surface sediment was conducted to quantify the extent of their contamination in Taihu Lake. Results showed the average total concentrations ranged from 0.93 μg/L for Cd to 47.03 μg/L for Zn. The dissolved concentrations in the overlying water ranged from 0.06 μg/L for Cd to 15.86 μg/L for Zn. The metals in the Taihu Lake surface water were primarily in the particulate phase, especially for Cd, whose particulate concentration represented 94.3% of the total. In the surface sediment, the mean concentrations for Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd and Pb were 41.50, 28.72, 27.82, 65.46, 5.94, 0.82 and 41.17 mg/kg, respectively. The metals in the water column and sediments of Taihu Lake displayed significant spatial variations, and the higher metal concentrations mainly occurred in the north and west of Taihu Lake, especially in Zhushan Bay and West Taihu Lake. A quality assessment indicated that most of the metals in the surface water of Taihu Lake had no or low adverse health effects on organisms, except for Pb and Cu, which may cause chronic toxicity. Compared with the 'Consensus-Based Sediment Quality Guidelines', the polluting metals were Cr, Ni and Cd, and the polluted regions were confined to Zhushan Bay, Meiliang Bay and the west of Taihu Lake, especially for north of Zhushan Bay. The polluted areas for Cr, Ni and Cd were 14.36, 34.70 and 13.24 km 2 , respectively. 15Lung transplantation in China between 2015 and 2018显示文摘Background:Lung transplantation(LT)has been demonstrated as the only effective therapy for patients with end-stage lung diseases.Increasing listed lung transplant candidates and expanding volumes of lung transplant centers across China require wellorganized programs and registry data collection based on the large population.This study aimed to summarize and analyze the data of LT development in China.Methods:We retrospectively collected and analyzed data from the China Lung Transplantation Registry(CLuTR).Key data were reported from the registry with transplant types,indications,donor and recipient characteristics,outcomes and survival.The survival<30 days,1-year and 3-year survival rates were estimated with risk factors identified.Results:CLuTR contained data from 1053 lung transplants performed through January 1st,2015 to December 31st,2018 reported by 18 registered transplant centers.The largest category of diagnosis before transplantation was idiopathic interstitial pneumonitis.The total<30 days,1-year and 3-year survival rates in CLuTR were 81.45%,70.11%,and 61.16%with discrepancy by indications.Large proportion of recipients who were more than 60 years old required higher standard of care.Infection-related complications resulted in more death events in the early post-surgery periods.New York Heart Association grading at listing,extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation usage peri-transplantation,allograft dysfunction(primary graft dysfunction>Grade 0),renal insufficiency(estimated glomerular filtration rate<60 mL min_11.73 m^2),were independently associated with a higher risk for 3-year mortality in the entire cohort.Conclusions:Facing more end-stage of lung diseases and comorbidities,this study analyzed the outcomes and survival of LT recipients in China.Further prospectively stratified analyses with longer follow-up will be needed.Chun-Xiao Hu Wen-Hui Ghen Jian-Xing He Ge-Ning Jiang Xiao-Shan Li Dong Wei Bo Wu Ji Zhang Chen Wang Jing-Yu Chen 2019Chinese Medical Journal2019,,23:25
16Value of α-fetoprotein in association with clinicopathological features of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To explore the relationship between α-fetoprotein(AFP) and various clinicopathological variables and different staging system of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) thoroughly.METHODS:A retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients diagnosed with HCC between January 2008 and December 2009 in West China Hospital was enrolled in our study.The association of serum AFP values with the HCC clinicopathological features was analysed by univariate and multivariate analysis,such as status of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection,tumor size,tumor number,vascular invasion and degree of tumor differentiation.Also,patients were divided into four groups at the time of enrollment according to different cutoff values for serum value of AFP(≤ 20 μg/L,21-400 μg/L,401-800 μg/L,and ≥ 801 μg/L),to compare the positive rate of patient among four groups stratified by various clinicopathological variables.And the correlation of different kinds of tumor staging systems,such as TNM,Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) staging classification and China staging,were compared with the serum concentration of AFP.RESULTS:A total of 2304 HCC patients were enrolled in this study totally;the mean serum level of AFP was 555.3 ± 546.6 μg/L.AFP levels were within the normal range(< 20 μg/L) in 27.4%(n = 631) of all the cases.81.4%(n = 1875) patients were infected with HBV,and those patients had much higher serum AFP level compared with non-HBV infection ones(573.9 ± 547.7 μg/L vs 398.4 ± 522.3 μg/L,P < 0.001).The AFP level in tumors ≥ 10 cm(808.4 ± 529.2 μg/L) was significantly higher(P < 0.001) than those with tumor size 5-10 cm(499.5 ± 536.4 μg/L) and with tumor size ≤ 5 cm(444.9 ± 514.2 μg/L).AFP levels increased significantly in patients with vascular invasion(694.1 ± 546.9 μg/L vs 502.1 ± 543.1 μg/L,P < 0.001).Patients with low tumor cell differentiation(559.2 ± 545.7 μg/L) had the significantly(P = 0.007) highest AFP level compared with high differentiation(207.3 ± 420.8 μg/L) and intermediate differentiation(527.9 ± 538.4 μg/L).In the multiple variables analysis,low tumor cell differentiation [OR 6.362,95%CI:2.891-15.382,P = 0.006] and tumor size(≥ 10 cm)(OR 5.215,95%CI:1.426-13.151,P = 0.012) were independent predictors of elevated AFP concentrations(AFP > 400 μg/L).Serum AFP levels differed significantly(P < 0.001) in the D stage of BCLC(625.7 ± 529.8 μg/L) compared with stage A(506.2 ± 537.4 μg/L) and B(590.1 ± 551.1 μg/L).CONCLUSION:HCC differentiation,size and vascular invasion have strong relationships with AFP,poor differentiation and HCC size ≥ 10 cm are independent predictors of elevated AFP.BCLC shows better relationship withChang Liu Guang-Qin Xiao Lu-Nan Yan Bo Li Li Jiang Tian-Fu Wen Wen-Tao Wang Ming-Qing Xu Jia-Yin Yang 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,11:22
17Intracoronary arterial retrograde thrombolysis with percutaneous coronary intervention: a novel use of thrombolytic to treat acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction显示文摘Background Clearance of coronary arterial thrombosis is necessary in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing urgent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). There is currently no highly-recommended method of thrombus removal during interventional procedures. We describe a new method for opening culprit vessels to treat STEMI: intracoronary arterial retrograde thrombolysis (ICART) with PCI. Methods & Results Eight patients underwent ICART. The guidewire was advanced to the distal coronary artery through the occlusion lesion. Then, we inserted a microcatheter into the distal end of the occluded coronary artery over the guidewire. Urokinase (5–10 wu) mixed with contrast agents was slowly injected into the occluded section of the coronary artery through the microcatheter. The intracoronary thrombus gradually dissolved in 3–17 min, and the effect of thrombolysis was visible in real time. Stents were then implanted according to the characteristics of the recanalized culprit lesion to achieve full revascularization. One patient experienced premature ventricular contraction during vascular revascularization, and no malignant arrhythmias were seen in any patient. No reflow or slow flow was not observed post PCI. Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction flow grade and myocardial blush grade post-primary PCI was 3 in all eight patients. No patients experienced bleeding or stroke. Conclusions ICART was accurate and effective for treating intracoronary thrombi in patients with STEMI in this preliminary study. ICART was an effective, feasible, and simple approach to the management of STEMI, and no intraprocedural complications occurred in any of the patients. 19Acute cerebrovascular disease following COVID-19: a single center, retrospective, observational study显示文摘Background and purpose COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Apart from respiratory complications,acute cerebrovascular disease(CVD)has been observed in some patients with COVID-19.Therefore,we described the clinical characteristics,laboratory features,treatment and outcomes of CVD complicating SARS-CoV-2 infection.Materials and methods Demographic and clinical characteristics,laboratory findings,treatments and clinical outcomes were collected and analysed.Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of patients with COVID-19 with or without new-onset CVD were compared.Results Of 219 patients with COVID-19,10(4.6%)developed acute ischaemic stroke and 1(0.5%)had intracerebral haemorrhage.COVID-19 with new onset of CVD were significantly older(75.7±10.8 years vs 52.1±15.3 years,p<0.001),more likely to present with severe COVID-19(81.8%vs 39.9%,p<0.01)and were more likely to have cardiovascular risk factors,including hypertension,diabetes and medical history of CVD(all p<0.05).In addition,they were more likely to have increased inflammatory response and hypercoagulable state as reflected in C reactive protein(51.1(1.3-127.9)vs 12.1(0.1-212.0)mg/L,p<0.05)and D-dimer(6.9(0.3-20.0)vs 0.5(0.1-20.0)mg/L,p<0.001).Of 10 patients with ischemic stroke;6 received antiplatelet treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel;and 3 of them died.The other four patients received anticoagulant treatment with enoxaparin and 2 of them died.As of 24 March 2020,six patients with CVD died(54.5%).Conclusion Acute CVD is not uncommon in COVID-19.Our findings suggest that older patients with risk factors are more likely to develop CVD.The development of CVD is an important negative prognostic factor which requires further study to identify optimal management strategy to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.Yanan Li Man Li Mengdie Wang Yifan Zhou Jiang Chang Ying Xian David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Bo Hu 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3:22
20Modeling soil conservation, water conservation and their tradeoffs: A case study in Beijing显示文摘Natural ecosystems provide society with important goods and services. With the rapid increase in human populations and excessive utilization of natural resources, humans frequently enhance the production of some services at the expense of the others. Although the need for tradeoffs between conservation and development is urgent, the lack of efficient methods to assess such tradeoffs has impeded progress. Three land use strategy scenarios (development scenario, plan trend scenario and conservation scenario) were created to forecast potential changes in ecosystem services from 2007 to 2050 in Beijing, China. GIS-based techniques were used to map spatial and temporal distribution and changes in ecosystem services for each scenario. The provision of ecosystem services differed spatially, with significant changes being associated with different scenarios. Scenario analysis of water yield (as average annual yield) and soil retention (as retention rate per unit area) for the period 2007 to 2050 indicated that the highest values for these parameters were predicted for the forest habitat under all three scenarios. Annual yield/retention of forest, shrub, and grassland ranked the highest in the conservation scenario. Total water yield and soil retention increased in the conservation scenario and declined dramatically in the other two scenarios, especially the development scenario. The conservation scenario was the optimal land use strategy, resulting in the highest soil retention and water yield. Our study suggests that the evaluation and visualization of ecosystem services can effectively assist in understanding the tradeoffs between conservation and development.
