| 1 | Early rehabilitation improves neurofunctional outcome after surgery in children with spinal tumors显示文摘To investigate the effect of early rehabilitation on neurofunctional outcome after surgery in children with spinal tumors, this study reviewed the medical charts and radiographic records of 70 pediatric patients(1–17 years old) who received spinal tumor surgical removal. The peddiatric patients received rahabilitation treatment at 4(range, 2–7) days after surgery for 10(range, 7–23) days. Results from the Modified McCormick Scale, Functional Independence Measure for Children, American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale and Karnofsky Performance Status Scale demonstrated that the sensory function, motor function and activity of daily living of pediatric children who received early rehabilitation were significantly improved. | 2 | Changes of total antioxidant capacity and total oxidant status of aqueous humor in diabetes patients and correlations with diabetic retinopathy显示文摘AIM:To measure changes of total oxidant status(TOS)and total antioxidant capacity(TAC) of aqueous humor(AH) in diabetic retinopathy(DR) patients,and to determine if there were any differences in TOS and TAC of AH in diabetic patients without retinopathy compared with non-diabetic patients.·METHODS:One hundred and three eyes of 103patients who were enrolled for cataract surgery were included in this study.Patients were grouped according to presence of diabetes and stage of DR.Prior to cataract surgery,0.1mL to 0.2mL of AH was aspirated and analyzed for TAC and TOS level using a colorimetric method.·RESULTS:TOS levels were highest among proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) patients and lowest in patients with only cataracts.Results were statistically significant between all groups(P <0.05).Whereas result between diabetic without retinopathy patients and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR) patients was not statistically significant(P =0.757).TAC levels were highest in patients with only cataract and lowest among PDR patients and results were statistically significant between all groups(P <0.05).·CONCLUSION:Aqueous humor TAC levels are low in diabetic patients and reduced further in DR patients,TOS levels are increased in diabetic patients and this is exacerbated in DR patients. | Emrullah Beyazyildiz Ali Bülent ankaya Esra Ergan Mustafa Alparslan Anayol Yasemin zdamar Sevilay Sezer Mehmet Hakan Tirhis Pelin Yilmazbas Faruk ztürk | 2013 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013，6，4： | 4 |

| 11 | Effects of thinning on stand structure and tree stability in an afforested oriental beech(Fagus orientalis Lipsky) stand in northeast Turkey显示文摘We studied relationships between stand structure and stand stability according to thinning intensity in an afforested oriental beech stand. Various thinning intensities were applied in sample stands. We sampled eight plots in stands that were lightly thinned, eight plots in heavily thinned stands and eight plots in unthinned stands as a control. Height and diameter distributions of the stands were measured to assess stand structure. We quantified individual tree stability and collective stability. Heavy thinning during the first thinning operation damaged the storied structure of the stand in thicket stage and affected collective structuring ability. While most control plots had multi-storied stands, after light and heavy thinning two-storied structure became more common.Large gaps occurred in the canopy after heavy thinning. On average, nine tree collectives were formed per sampling plot in the untreated stand, seven collectives after thinning in 2008 and four collectives after thinning in 2009. Stable trees accounted for 17 % of trees in control plots, 24 % in lightly thinned plots, and 15 % in heavily thinned plots. Collective stability values were 83 % in control plots, 82 % in lightly thinned plots and 36 % in heavily thinned plots. | 18 | First report of the histopathological effect of electrocautery using on the urethral taste rosea during glans penis injury by incision in rabbits显示文摘Objective:Currently,electrocautery devices have frequently been used in penile surgical procedures.We hypothesized that electrocautery using during penile surgical procedures may harm the taste rosea and the dorsal nerve of the penis or clitoris.Methods:Eighteen young age male New Zealand rabbits were studied:five in the control(Group I,n=5),five in the penile surgery without using electrocautery(sham group,Group II,n=5),eight in the monopolar cautery(study group,Group III,n=8)groups under general anesthesia.The animals were followed for 3 weeks and sacrificed.Penile tissue—pudendal nerve root complexes and dorsal root ganglion of sacral 3 level were examined using stereological methods.The results were compared statistically.Results:The live and degenerated taste bud-like structures and degenerated neuron densities of pudendal ganglia(mean±standard deviation,n/mm3)were estimated as 198±24/mm3,4±1/mm3,and 5±1/mm3 in Group I;8±3/mm3,174±21/mm3,and 24±7/mm3 in Group II;and 21±5/mm3,137±14/mm3,and 95±12/mm3 in Group III,respectively.Neurodegeneration of taste buds and pudendal ganglia was significantly different between groups.Conclusion:Intact spinal cord and normal parasympathetic and thoracolumbar sympathetic networks are crucial for human sexual function.The present study indicates that the glans penis injury by using electrocautery may lead to pudendal ganglia degeneration.Iatrogenic damage to taste rosea and retrograde degeneration of the pudendal nerve may be the cause of sexual dysfunction responsible mechanism. | Ozgur Caglar Ayhan Kanat Mehmet Dumlu Aydin Nezih Akca Sevilay Ozmen | 2024 | Asian Journal of Urology2024，11，1： | 0 |
