1A Straight-bladed Vertical Axis Wind Turbine with a Directed Guide Vane Row-Effect of Guide Vane Geometry on the Performance-显示文摘The objective of this study is to show the effect of guide vane geometry on the performance. In order to overcomethe disadvantages of vertical axis wind turbine, a straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine (S-VAWT) witha directed guide vane row has been proposed and tested by the authors. According to previous studies, it wasclarified that the performance of the turbine can be improved by means of the directed guide vane row. However,the guide vane geometry of S-VAWT has not been optimized so far. In order to clarify the effect of guide vanegeometry, the effects of setting angle and gap between rotor blade and guide vane on power coefficient and startingcharacteristic were investigated in the experiments. The experimental study of the proposed wind turbinewas carried out by a wind tunnel. The wind tunnel with a diameter of 1.8m is open jet type. The wind velocityis 8 m/s in the experiments. The rotor has three straight blades with a profide of NACA0018 and a chord lengthof 100 mm, a diameter of 0.6 m and a blade height of 0.7 m. 2Overexpression of the receptor tyrosine kinase EphA4 in human gastric cancers显示文摘AIM: To clarify the expression and role of Ephrin receptor A4 (EphA4) in gastric cancer in relation to clinicopathological characteristics and the expression of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) and ephrin ligands. METHODS: Eleven gastric carcinoma cell lines, 24 paired surgical fresh specimens of gastric adenocarcinoma and adjacent nontumor tissue, 74 conventional formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor specimens, and 55 specimens spotted on tissue microarray (TMA) were analyzed. Reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR), real-time RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and cell growth assays were performed. RESULTS: Overexpression of EphA4 mRNA expres-sion was observed in 8 (73%) of 11 gastric cancer cell lines and 10 (42%) of 24 gastric cancer tissues. Over-expression of EphA4, analyzed by immunohistochemistry, was observed in 62 (48%) of 129 gastric cancer tissues. EphA4 overexpression, at the protein level, was significantly associated with depth of invasion and recurrence. EphA4 overexpression was also correlated with FGFR1 overexpression. Patients with EphA4-positive cancer had significantly shorter overall survival periods than did those with EphA4-negative cancer (P = 0.0008). The mRNAs for ephrin ligands were coexpressed in various combinations in gastric cancer cell lines and cancer tissues. Downregulation of EphA4 expression by siRNA in EphA4-overexpressing gastric cancer cell lines resulted in a significant decrease in cell growth. 4Intraspecific Variations of Phosphorus Absorption and Remobilization, P Forms, and Their Internal Buffering in Brassica Cultivars Exposed to a P-Stressed Environment显示文摘Translocation of absorbed phosphorus (P) from metabolically inactive sites to active sites in plants growing under P deprivation may increase its P utilization efficiency (PUE). Acclimation to phosphate (Pi) starvation may be caused by a differential storage pool of vacuolar P, its release, and the intensity of re-translocation of absorbed P as P starvation inducible environmental cues (PSIEC) from ambient environment. Biomass assay and three P forms, namely inorganic (Pi), organic (Po), and acid-soluble total (Ptas) were estimated in Brassica cultivars exposed to 10 d P deprivation in the culture media. Considering that -δPi/δt denotes the rate of Pi release, Pi release velocity (RSPi) was determined as the tangent to the equations obtained for Pi f(t) at the mean point in the period of greatest Pi decrease, whereas the inverse of the RSPi was an estimate of the internal Pi buffering capacity (IBCPi). Inter cultivar variations in size of the non-metabolic Pi pool, RSPi, re-translocation of Pi from less to more active metabolic sites, and preferential Pi source and sink compartments were evaluated under P starvation. The cultivar ‘Brown Raya’ showed the highest Pi storage ability under adequate external P supply, and a more intensive release than ‘Rain Bow’ and ‘Dunkled’ under P stress. Cultivar ‘B.S.A’ was inferior to ‘Con-1’ in its ability to store and use Pi. Roots and upper leaves were the main sink of Pi stored in the lower and middle leaves of all cultivars and showed lower IBCPi and larger RSPi values than lower and middle leaves. In another trial, six cultivars were exposed to P-free nutrition for 29 d after initial feeding on optimum nutrition for 15 d. With variable magnitude, all of the cultivars re-translocated P from the above ground parts to their roots under P starvation, and [P] at 44 d after transplanting was higher in developing leaves compared with developed leaves. Under P deprivation, translocation of absorbed P from metabolically inactive to active sites may have helped the tolerant cultivars to establish a better rooting system, which provided a basis for tolerance against P starvation and increased PUE. A better understanding of the extent to which changes in the flux of P absorption and re-translocation under PSIEC will help to scavenge Pi from bound P reserves and will bring more sparingly soluble P into cropping systems and obtain capitalization of P reserves.M. 10Checkpoint with forkhead-associated and ring finger promoter hypermethylation correlates with microsatellite instability in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To examine the methylation status of the promoter region of the checkpoint with forkhead-associated and ring fi nger(CHFR) and microsatellite mutator status in 59 primary gastric cancers.METHODS:We investigated the promoter methylation of CHFR in 59 cases of gastric cancer using methylation-specifi c PCR.Five microsatellite loci were analyzed using high-intensity microsatellite analysis reported previously, and p53 gene mutations were investigated by direct sequencing.RESULTS:Twenty cases(33.9%) showed promoter methylation and no relation was observed with the clinicopathological factors.We found that the promoter methylation of CHFR was frequently accompanied with microsatellite instability(MIN).Seven of 20(35.0%) cases showed MIN in hypermethylation of the CHFR tumor, while three of 39(7.7%) cases showed MIN in the non-methylated CHFR tumor(P < 0.01).However, we failed to fi nd any relationship between CHFR methylation and p53 mutation status.CONCLUSION:The coordinated loss of both the mitotic check point function and mismatch repair system suggests the potential to overcome the cell cycle check point, which may lead to an accumulation of mutations.However, the p53 mutation was not related to hypermethylation of the CHFR promoter and MIN, which indicates that an abnormality in p53 occurs as an independent process from the mismatch repair deficiency in carcinogenesis.Eiji Oki Yan Zhao Rintaro Yoshida Takanobu Masuda Koji Ando Masahiiko Sugiyama Eriko Tokunaga Masaru Morita Yoshihiro Kakeji Yoshihiko Maehara 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,20:2

14Mobilization and Acquisition of Sparingly Soluble P-Sources by Brassica Cultivars under P-Starved Environment I. Differential Growth Response,P-Efficiency Characteristics and P-Remobilization显示文摘Phosphorus (P) starvation is highly notorious for limiting plant growth around the globe. To combat P-starvation,plants constantly sense the changes in their environment,and elicit an elegant myriad of plastic responses and rescue strategies to enhance P-solublization and acquisition from bound soil P-forms. Relative growth responses,P-solublization and P-acquisition ability of 14 diverse Brassica cultivars grown with sparingly soluble P-sources (Rock-P (RP) and Ca3(PO4)2 (TCP)) were evaluated in a solution culture experiment. Cultivars showed considerable genetic diversity in terms of biomass accumulation,concentration and contents of P and Ca in shoots and roots,P-stress factor (PSF) and P use efficiency. Cultivars showed variable P-stress tolerance,and cultivars depicting low PSF and high P-efficiency values were better adaptable to P-starvation. In experiment 2,after initial feeding on optimum nutrition for 12 d after transplanting (DAT),class-I (low P-tolerant (Oscar and Con-II)) and class-II (low P-sensitive (Gold Rush and RL-18)) cultivars were exposed to P-free environment for 25 d. All of the cultivars remobilized P from above ground parts to their roots during growth in P-free environment,the magnitude of which was variable in tested cultivars. P-concentrations ([P]s) at 37 DAT were higher in developing compared with developed leaves. Translocation of absorbed P from metabolically inactive to active sites in P-stressed plants may have helped class-I cultivars to establish a better rooting system,which provided a basis for enhanced P-utilization efficiency (PUE) and tolerance against P-stress. By supplying TCP and RP spatially separated from other nutrients in split root study,class-I cultivars were still able to mobilize RP and TCP more efficiently compared with class-II cultivars. To compare the growth behavior under P-stress,cultivars were grown in pots for 41 d after sowing,using a soil low in P (NaHCO3-extractable P = 3.97 mg/kg,Mehlich-III-extractable P = 6.13 mg/kg) with (+P = 60 mg P/kg soil) or without P addition (0P) in study 4. Tested cultivars showed genetic diversity in PUE,P-efficiency (PE),P-efficiency ratio (PER) and PSF. P-stress markedly reduced biomass and plant P contents. Cultivars that produced higher root biomass accumulated higher total P-contents (r = 0.98??),which in turn was related negatively to PSF (r = ?0.95??) and positively to shoot and total biomass. PER and PE showed significant correlations with shoot P-contents and biomass. Cultivars depicting high PUE and PE,and low PSF values showed better growth behavior under low soil P-environment. 15Mobilization and Acquisition of Sparingly Soluble P-Sources by Brassica Cultivars under P-Starved Environment II. Rhizospheric pH changes,Redesigned Root Architecture and Pi-Uptake Kinetics显示文摘Non-mycorrhizal Brassica does not produce specialized root structures such as cluster or dauciform roots but is an effective user of P compared with other crops. In addition to P-uptake,utilization and remobilization activity,acquisition of orthophosphate (Pi) from extracellular sparingly P-sources or unavailable bound P-forms can be enhanced by biochemical rescue mechanisms such copious H+-efflux and/or carboxylates exudation into rhizosphere by roots via plasmalemma H+ ATPase and anion channels triggered by P-starvation. To visualize the dissolution of sparingly soluble Ca-phosphate (Ca-P),newly formed Ca-P was suspended in agar containing other essential nutrients. With NH4+ applied as the N source,the precipitate dissolved in the root vicinity can be ascribed to rhizosphere acidification,whereas no dissolution occurred with nitrate nutrition. To observe in situ rhizospheric pH changes,images were recorded after embedding the roots in agar containing bromocresol purple as a pH indicator. P-tolerant cultivar showed a greater decrease in pH than the sensitive cultivar in the culture media (the appearance of typical patterns of various colors of pH indicator in the root vicinity),and at stress P-level this acidification was more prominent. In experiment 2,low P-tolerant class-I cultivars (Oscar and Con-II) showed a greater decrease in solution media pH than low P-sensitive class-II (Gold Rush and RL-18) cultivars,and P-contents of the cultivars was inversely related to decrease in culture media pH. To elucidate P-stress-induced remodeling and redesigning in a root architectural system,cultivars were grown in rhizoboxes in experiment 3. The elongation rates of primary roots increased as P-supply increased,but the elongation rates of the branched zones of primary roots decreased. The length of the lateral roots and topological index values increased when cultivars were exposed to a P-stress environment. To elucidate Pi-uptake kinetics,parameters related to P influx:maximal transport rate (Vmax),the Michaelis-Menten constant (Km),and the external concentration when net uptake is zero (Cmin) were tested in experiment 4. Lower Km and Cmin values were better indicative of the P-uptake ability of the class-I cultivars,evidencing their adaptability to P-starved environmental cues. In experiment 5,class-I cultivars exuded two-to threefold more carboxylates than class-II cultivars under the P-stress environment. The amount and types of carboxylates exuded from the roots of P-starved plants differed from those of plants grown under P-sufficient conditions. Nevertheless,the exudation rate of both class-I and class-II cultivars decreased with time,and the highest exudation rate was found after the first 4 h of carboxylates collection. Higher P uptake by class-I cultivars was significantly related to the drop in root medium pH,which can be ascribed to H+-efflux from the roots supplied with sparingly soluble rock-P and Ca3(PO4)2. 16The deep-space multi-object orbit determination system and its application to Hayabusa2’s asteroid proximity operations显示文摘The deep-space multi-object orbit determination system(DMOODS)and its application in the asteroid proximity operation of the Hayabusa2 mission are described.DMOODS was developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency(JAXA)for the primary purpose of determining the trajectory of deep-space spacecraft for JAXA’s planetary missions.The weighted least-squares batch filter is used for the orbit estimator of DMOODS.The orbit estimator supports more than 10 data types,some of which are used for relative trajectory measurements between multiple space objects including natural satellites and small bodies.This system consists of a set of computer programs running on Linux-based consumer PCs on the ground,which are used for orbit determination and the generation of radiometric tracking data,such as delta differential one-way ranging and doppler tracking data.During the asteroid proximity phase of Hayabusa2,this system played an essential role in operations that had very strict navigation requirements or operations in which few optical data were obtained owing to special constraints on the spacecraft attitude or distance from the asteroid.One example is orbit determination during the solar conjunction phase,in which the navigation accuracy is degraded by the effect of the solar corona.The large range bias caused by the solar corona was accurately estimated with DMOODS by combining light detection and ranging(LIDAR)and ranging measurements in the superior solar conjunction phase of Hayabusa2.For the orbiting operations of target markers and the MINERVA-II2 rover,the simultaneous estimation of six trajectories of four artificial objects and a natural object was made by DMOODS.This type of simultaneous orbit determination of multi-artificial objects in deep-space has never been accomplished before.Hiroshi Takeuchi Kent Yoshikawa Yuto Takei Yusuke Oki Shota Kikuchi Hitoshi Ikeda Stefania Soldini Naoko Ogawa Yuya Mimasu Go Ono Fuyuto Terui Naoya Sakatani Manabu Yamada Toru Kouyama Shingo Kameda Takanao Saiki Yuichi Tsuda 2020Astrodynamics2020,4,4:2
17Expulsion of geopressured hydrothermal system along active faults and its relation to the occurrence of earthquakes in the Shinanogawa seismic belt, Japan显示文摘The 1995 Northern Niigata Earthquake (M 6.0) occurred at a shallow depth in the Niigata seismic gap. The anomaly areas in temperature, electrical conductivity and Cl- concentration of groundwater trend northeast as linear distribution in the epicentral area and are approximately coincident with the area of the seismic intensity 6 (JMA scale). The distributions of seismic intensity 6 and groundwater anomalies convincingly imaged the presence of a buried active fault beneath the epicentral area. The occurrence of this earthquake and the anomalies of groundwater were related to the expulsion of geopressured hydrothermal system (GHS). All epicenters of the destructive earthquakes along the Shinanogawa seismic belt are actually located in the buried active fault zones characterized by the areas of temperature and geochemical anomalies of groundwater. These earthquakes might have been triggered by the activity of GHS. The expulsion of GHS along an active fault in combination with the thermal softening of fault zone attributed to high rock temperature may reduce fracture strength of the rock, and trigger earthquake occurrence. The dimension of the anomaly area of groundwater temperature at the epicentral area reflected the scale of the earthquake fault. The linear anomaly areas of groundwater resulting from the expulsion of GHS and having no historical destructive earthquake are of the predicated areas of future destructive earthquakes.
