1A review on palaeogeographic implications and temporal variation in glaucony composition显示文摘This study presents a review on palaeogeographic implications and temporal variations of glaucony coveringboth modern and ancient records.Phanerozoic glaucony preferably forms in a shelf depositional setting.Deep marine conditions and low seawater temperature discourage formation of glaucony.Around 75%of glaucony is recorded from the Cretaceous to the Holocene sediments,which are related to the abundance of the most common substrates,faecal pellets and bioclasts.TFe_2O_3(total),Al_2O_3,K_2O and MgO contents of glaucony vary appreciably through geological time.While TFe_2O_3 content of most Mesozoic and Cenozoic glaucony exceeds 20%,it is always less than 20%in Precambrian varieties.High K_2O,Al_2O_3,MgO and low TFe_2O_3 distinguish the Precambrian glaucony from its Phanerozoic counterpart.Precambrian glaucony,preferably formed within a K-feldspar substrate,is always rich in potassium irrespective of its degree of evolution,while high K-content in Phanerozoic evolved glaucony indicates significant stratigraphic condensation.K_2O us.TFe_2O_3 relationship of glaucony exhibits three different evolutionary trends corresponding to three common modes of origin.Depositional conditions may influence the composition of glaucony as slightly reducing conditions favour Fe enrichment,whereas oxidising conditions cause Fe depletion in glaucony.Santanu Banerjee Udita Bansal Anup Vilas Thorat 2016Journal of Palaeogeography2016,5,1:10
2Position Control of a Flexible Manipulator Using a New Nonlinear Self-Tuning PID Controller显示文摘In this paper, a new nonlinear self-tuning PID controller(NSPIDC) is proposed to control the joint position and link deflection of a flexible-link manipulator(FLM) while it is subjected to carry different payloads. Since, payload is a critical parameter of the FLM whose variation greatly influences the controller performance. The proposed controller guarantees stability under change in payload by attenuating the non-modeled higher order dynamics using a new nonlinear autoregressive moving average with exogenous-input(NARMAX) model of the FLM. The parameters of the FLM are identified on-line using recursive least square(RLS) algorithm and using minimum variance control(MVC) laws the control parameters are updated in real-time. This proposed NSPID controller has been implemented in real-time on an experimental set-up. The joint tracking and link deflection performances of the proposed adaptive controller are compared with that of a popular direct adaptive controller(DAC). 3Beyond Graphene Anode Materials for Emerging Metal Ion Batteries and Supercapacitors显示文摘Intensive research effort is currently focused on the development of efficient, reliable, and environmentally safe electrochemical energy storage systems due to the ever-increasing global energy storage demand. Li ion battery systems have been used as the primary energy storage device over the last three decades. However, low abundance and uneven distribution of lithium and cobalt in the earth crust and the associated cost of these materials, have resulted in a concerted effort to develop beyond lithium electrochemical storage systems. In the case of non-Li ion rechargeable systems, the development of electrode materials is a significant challenge, considering the larger ionic size of the metal-ions and slower kinetics. Two-dimensional(2D) materials, such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, MXenes and phosphorene, have garnered significant attention recently due to their multi-faceted advantageous properties: large surface areas, high electrical and thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, etc. Consequently, the study of 2D materials as negative electrodes is of notable importance as emerging non-Li battery systems continue to generate increasing attention. Among these interesting materials, graphene has already been extensively studied and reviewed, hence this report focuses on 2D materials beyond graphene for emerging non-Li systems. 5Biochemical characters and antibiotic susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus isolates显示文摘Objective:To observe the biochemical characters and antibiotic susceptibility of isolated Staphylococcia aureus(S.auerus) strains against some conventional and traditional antibiotics. Methods:Thirty post operative pathogenic isolated S.aureus strains were used in this study. Bacterial culture was done in Mueller-Hinton broth at 37 ℃.Characters of these strains were determined by traditional biochemical tests such as hydrolysis test of gelatin,urea,galactose, starch and protein,and fermentation of lactose and sucrose.Antibiotic susceptibility were carried out by minimum inhibilory concentration test,minium bactericidal concentration test,disc agar diffusion test and brain heart infusion oxacillin screening agar.Results:Prom this study,it was observed that 100%S.aureus isolates showed positive results in gelatin,urea and galactose hydrolysis test.50%isolates were positive in starch hydrolysis test,35%in protein hydrolysis test. 100%isolates in lactose fermenting test,but no isolate was positive in sucrose fermenting test. Antibiotic susceptibility testing suggested that 20%of isolates were resistant to kanamycin and 46.67%were resistant to oxacillin.Conclusions:These findings show that all these isolates have gelatin,urea,galactose hydrolysis and lactose fermenting activity.20%of these isolates were resistant to kanamvcin and 46.67%were resistant to oxacillin.Subhankari Prasad Chakraborty Santanu Kar Mahapatra Somenath Roy 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,3:5
6High-throughput discovery of high Curie point two-dimensional ferromagnetic materials显示文摘Databases for two-dimensional materials host numerous ferromagnetic materials without the vital information of Curie temperature since its calculation involves a manually intensive complex process.In this work,we develop a fully automated,hardwareaccelerated,dynamic-translation based computer code,which performs first principles-based computations followed by Heisenberg model-based Monte Carlo simulations to estimate the Curie temperature from the crystal structure.We employ this code to conduct a high-throughput scan of 786 materials from a database to discover 26 materials with a Curie point beyond 400 K.For rapid data mining,we further use these results to develop an end-to-end machine learning model with generalized chemical features through an exhaustive search of the model space as well as the hyperparameters.We discover a few more high Curie point materials from different sources using this data-driven model.Such material informatics,which agrees well with recent experiments,is expected to foster practical applications of two-dimensional magnetism.Arnab Kabiraj Mayank Kumar Santanu Mahapatra 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:5
7Anisotropy Properties of Tissues: A Basis for Fabrication of Biomimetic Anisotropic Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering显示文摘Tissue engineering has been a subject of extensive scientific exploration in the last two decades making gradual inroads into clinical studies as well.Along with regenerative cells and growth factors,biomaterial scaffolds are integral to the development of a tissue engi neered construct.It is now appreciated that scaffolds should mimic the target tissue properties intimately in order to provide a micro-environment milieu that allows the seeded cells to differentiate into the desired tissue.Even from a structural viewpoint,mismatch between scaffold and native matrix properties can cause cell necrosis through mechanisms such as stress shielding.One of the key prop erties of most body tissues is that they exhib社anisotropy.However,most fabrication methods generate isotropic scaffolds and require specific modifications to produce anisotropic scaffolds.In the last decade,the advent of additive manufacturing and bioprinting has provided facile tools to fabricate scaffolds with desired anisotropy.On the other hand,a biomimetic scaffold can be designed only when target tissue anisotropy is well known to the tissue engineer.This review presents an overview of the anisotropic properties of different tissues,which will be critical for developing biomimetic engineered constructs.The traditional anatomical records do not adequately present these properties from the perspective of designing tissue engineering scaffolds.Subsequently,present state-of-the art in devel opment of anisotropic scaffolds as well as tissue constructs using different conventional and emerging fabrication techniques is discussed.It is expected that the readers will obtain a comprehensive reference on the research area by examining these two aspects juxtaposed to each other and gain key trends for fabrication of anisotropic scaffolds,plausibly with improved regenerative outcomes.Pallab Datta Veena Vyas Santanu Dhara Amit Roy Chowdhury Ananya Barui 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,5:4
8Nitric oxide mediated Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis and protective role of nanoconjugated vancomycin显示文摘Objective:To investigate the relation between fruit seeds,plants residuals and appendicitis. Methods:Among cases that underwent appendectomy,the appendicitis cases having fruit seeds and undigested plant residuals in their etiology were examined retrospectively.Also, histopathological features,age,sex,and parameters of morbidity and mortality were used. 9Siliciclastic-carbonate mixing modes in the river-mouth bar palaeogeography of the Upper Cretaceous Garudamangalam Sandstone(Ariyalur, India)显示文摘Mixed siliciclastic-carbonate rocks constitute the Upper Cretaceous Garudamangalam Sandstone Formation, Ariyalur(India), and offer an opportunity to look into the broad spectrum of mixing of compositionally and genetically different components. The palaeogeographic reconstruction indicates that deposition in the nearshore zone differed strongly in energy and active processes operatives due to the presence of a shore-parallel river-mouth bar. The western wing of the Mississippi bird-foot delta is considered to be a present-day analogon. Facies analysis in combination with petrography clearly shows the variability in palaeoenvironmental characteristics, both biogenic and non-biogenic. It also indicates diagenetic uptake of carbonate that filled empty spaces and actively replaced original components. Chemical staining followed by limited application of cathodoluminescence and energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDAX) hint at intricacies in mixing arising from the compositional variations in the carbonate components. 10Petrography of Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous sandstones in the Kutch Basin,western India:Implications on provenance and basin evolution显示文摘This paper investigates the provenance of Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous sediments in the Kutch Basin, western India, on the basis of mineralogical investigations of sandstones composition(Quartz-Feldspar-Lithic(QFL)fragment), Zircon-Tourmaline-Rutile(ZTR) index, and mineral chemistry of heavy detrital minerals of the framework.The study also examines the compositional variation of the sandstone in relation to the evolution of the Kutch Basin, which originated as a rift basin during the Late Triassic and evolved into a passive margin basin by the end Cretaceous. This study analyzes sandstone samples of Jhumara, Jhuran and Bhuj Formations of Middle Jurassic,Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous, respectively, in the Kutch Mainland. Sandstones record a compositional evolution from arkosic to subarkosic as the feldspar content decreases from 68% in the Jhumara Formation to 27%in the Bhuj Formation with intermediate values in the Jhuran Formation. The QFL modal composition indicates basement uplifted and transitional continental settings at source. Heavy mineral content of these sandstones reveals the occurrence of zircon, tourmaline, rutile, garnet, apatite, monazite and opaque minerals. Sub-rounded to well-rounded zircon grains indicate a polycyclic origin. ZTR indices for samples in Jhumara, Jhuran and Bhuj Formations are 25%, 30% and 50% respectively. Chemistry of opaque minerals reveals the occurrence of detrital varieties such as ilmenite, rutile, hematite/magnetite and pyrite, in a decreasing order of abundances. Chemistry of ilmenites in the Jhumara Formation reveals its derivation from dual felsic igneous and metabasic source, while those in Jhuran and Bhuj Formations indicate a metabasic derivation. Chemistry of garnet reveals predominantly Fe-rich(almandine) variety of metabasic origin. X-ray microscopic study provides the percentage of heavy minerals ranging from 3% to 5.26%. QFL detrital modes reflect the evolution of the basin from an active rift to a passive margin basin during the Mesozoic. Integration of results from QFL modal composition of the sandstones, heavy mineral analysis and mineral chemistry, suggests sediment supply from both northern and eastern highlands during the Middle Jurassic. 12Antioxidative effect of folate-modified chitosan nanoparticles显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the potency of carboxymethyl chitosan-2,2' ethylenedioxy bisethylamine-folate(CMC-EDBE-FA) on tissue injury,antioxidant status and glutathione system in tissue mitochondria and serum against nicotine-induced oxidative stress in mice.Methods: CMC-EDBE-FA was prepared on basis of carboxymethyl chitosan tagged with folic acid by covalently linkage through 2,2' ethylenedioxy bis-ethylamine.Animals were divided into four groups,i.e.,control,nicotine(1 mg/kg bw/day),CMC-EDBE-FA(1 mg/kg bw/day) and nicotine(1 mg/kg bw/day) and CMC-EDBE-FA(1 mg/kg bw/day) for 7 days.Levels of lipid peroxidation, oxidized glutathione level,antioxidant enzyme status and DNA damage were observed and compared.Results:The significantly increase of lipid peroxidation,oxidized glutathione levels and DNA damage was observed in nicotine treated group as compared with control group;those were significantly reduced in CMC-EDBE-FA supplemented group.Moreover,significantly reduced antioxidant status in nicotine treated group was effectively ameliorated by the supplementation of CMC-EDBE-FA.Only CMC-EDBE-FA treated groups showed no significant change as compared with control group;rather than it repairs the tissue damage of nicotine treated group.Conclusions:These findings suggest that CMC-EDBE-FA is non-toxic and ameliorates nicotine-induced toxicity.Subhankari Prasad Chakraborty Santanu Kar Mahapatra Sumanta Kumar Sahu Panchanan Pramanik Somenath Roy 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,1:3

14Origin and geochemical characterization of the glauconites in the Upper Cretaceous Lameta Formation, Narmada Basin, central India显示文摘This study presents geochemical characteristics of glauconites in estuarine deposits within the Maastrichtian Lameta Formation in central India. Resting conformably over the Bagh Group, the Lameta Formation consists of ~4-5 m thick arenaceous, argillaceous and calcareous green sandstones underlying the Deccan Traps. The sandstone is friable, medium-to coarse-grained, well-sorted and thoroughly crossstratified, and contains marine fossils. Detailed petrography, spectroscopy and mineral chemistry indicates unique chemical composition of glauconite with high K_2O, MgO, Al_2O_3 and moderate TFe_2O_3. Glauconite is formed by the replacement of K-feldspars, initially as stringers in the cleavages and fractures of feldspars. Incipient glauconite subsequently evolves fully, appearing as pellets. Fully-evolved glauconite pellets often leave tiny relics of K-feldspar. XRD exhibits characteristic peak of 10A from basal(001)reflection of glauconite, indicating the 'evolved' character. The K_2O content of glauconites in the Lameta Formation varies from 5.51% to 8.29%, corroborating the 'evolved' to 'highly-evolved' maturation stage.The TFe_2O_3 content of glauconite varies from 12.56% to 18.90%. The PASS-normalized-REE patterns of glauconite exhibit a 'hat-shape' confirming the authigenic origin of glauconites. The slightly-negative to slightly-positive Ce anomaly value and the moderate TFe_2O_3 content of glauconite agree well with a suboxic,estuarine condition. The replacement of K-feldspar by the glauconite contributes towards the high K_2O content. 15High-throughput design of functional-engineered MXene transistors with low-resistive contacts显示文摘Two-dimensional material-based transistors are being extensively investigated for CMOS(complementary metal oxide semiconductor)technology extension;nevertheless,downscaling appears to be challenging owing to high metal-semiconductor contact resistance.Here,we propose a functional group-engineered monolayer transistor architecture that takes advantage of MXenes’natural material chemistry to offer low-resistive contacts.We design an automated,high-throughput computational pipeline that first performs hybrid density functional theory-based calculations to find 16 sets of complementary transistor configurations by screening more than 23,000 materials from an MXene database and then conducts self-consistent quantum transport calculations to simulate their current-voltage characteristics for channel lengths ranging from 10 nm to 3 nm.Performance of these devices has been found to meet the requirements of the international roadmap for devices and systems(IRDS)for several benchmark metrics(on current,power dissipation,delay,and subthreshold swing).The proposed balanced-mode,functional-engineered MXene transistors may lead to a realistic solution for the sub-decananometer technology scaling by enabling doping-free intrinsically low contact resistance.Sirsha Guha Arnab Kabiraj Santanu Mahapatra 2022npj Computational Materials2022,,1:2
16Aqueous extract of Ocimum gratissimum Linn and ascorbic acid ameliorate nicotine-induced cellular damage in murine peritoneal macrophage显示文摘Objective:To test the in vitro protective role of aqueous extract of Ocimum gratissimum Linn. (0.gratissimum) and ascorbic acid against nicotine-induced murine peritoneal macrophage. Methods:Peritoneal macrophages from mice were treated with nicotine(10 mM),nicotine (10 mM) with aqueous extract of O.gratissimum(1 to 25μg/mL),and nicotine(10 mM) with ascorbic acid(0.01 mM) for 12 h in cell culture media,while the control group was treated with culture media.Levels of free radical generation,lipid peroxidation,protein carbonyls,oxidized glutathione levels and DNA damage were observed and compared.Results:Phytochemical analysis of aqueous extract has shown high amount of phenolics and flavonoids compound present in it.The significantly increased free radical generation,lipid peroxidation,protein carbonyls,oxidized glutathione levels and DNA damage were observed in nicotine-treated group as compared to the control group:those were significantly reduced in aqueous extract of O. gratissimum and ascorbic acid supplemented groups.Moreover,significantly reduced antioxidant status in nicotine exposed murine peritoneal macrophage was effectively ameliorated by these two products.Among the different concentration of aqueous extract of O.gratissimum,the maximum protective effect was observed at 10μg/mL which does not produce any significant change in the normal cell.Conclusions:These findings suggest the potential use and beneficial role of O.gratissimum as a modulator of nicotine-induced cellular damage in murine peritoneal macrophage.Santanu Kar Mahapatra Subhankari Prasad Chakraborty Somenath Roy 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,10:2

18Isolation and in vivo hep-atoprotective activity of Melothria heterophylla(Lour.) Cogn.against chemically induced liver injuries in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate hepatoprotective activity of ethanol extract of Melothria heterophyila Lour Cogn.(EEMH) against CCl4-induced hepatic damage in rats.Methods:β-sitosterol was isolated by column chromatography and characterized spectroscopically.Two different doses(200 and 400 mg/kg bw) of EEMH were administered orally in alternate days.The hepatoprotective activity was studied in liver by measuring biochemical parameters such as serum aspartate amino transferase(AST),alanine amino transferase(ALT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),total protein and total bilirubin.Lipid peroxidation product and different antioxidant enzyme activities were assessed in liver homogenate.Results:EEMH reduced all biochemical parameters and lipid peroxidation,as well as it increased the antioxidant enzyme activities in comparison with silymarin.The protective effect of the extract on CCl4 induced damage was confirmed by histopathological examination of the liver.Conclusions:This result strongly supports the protective effect of EEMH against acute liver injury,and may be attributed to its antioxidative activity.Arijit Mondal Tapan Kumar Maity Dilipkumar Pal Santanu Sannigrahi Jagadish Singh 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,8:2

20Automatic Classification of Cardiac Arrhythmias Based on Hybrid Features and Decision Tree Algorithm显示文摘Accurate classification of cardiac arrhythmias is a crucial task because of the non-stationary nature of electrocardiogram(ECG)signals.In a life-threatening situation,an automated system is necessary for early detection of beat abnormalities in order to reduce the mortality rate.In this paper,we propose an automatic classification system of ECG beats based on the multi-domain features derived from the ECG signals.The experimental study was evaluated on ECG signals obtained from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database.The feature set comprises eight empirical mode decomposition(EMD)based features,three features from variational mode decomposition(VMD)and four features from RR intervals.In total,15 features are ranked according to a ranker search approach and then used as input to the support vector machine(SVM)and C4.5 decision tree classifiers for classifying six types of arrhythmia beats.The proposed method achieved best result in C4.5 decision tree classifier with an accuracy of 98.89%compared to cubic-SVM classifier which achieved an accuracy of 95.35%only.Besides accuracy measures,all other parameters such as sensitivity(Se),specificity(Sp)and precision rates of 95.68%,99.28%and 95.8%was achieved better in C4.5 classifier.Also the computational time of 0.65 s with an error rate of 0.11 was achieved which is very less compared to SVM.The multi-domain based features with decision tree classifier obtained the best results in classifying cardiac arrhythmias hence the system could be used efficiently in clinical practices.Santanu Sahoo Asit Subudhi Manasa Dash Sukanta Sabut 2020International Journal of Automation and computing2020,17,4:2
