1Micro RNAs in colorectal cancer:Role in metastasis and clinical perspectives显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the third most common malignancy and the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States.Almost 90%of the patients diagnosed with CRC die due to metastases.Micro RNAs(mi RNAs)are evolutionarily conserved molecules that modulate the expression of their target genes post-transcriptionally,and they may participate in various physiological and pathological processes including CRC metastasis by influencing various factors in the human body.Recently,the role mi RNAs play throughout the CRC metastatic cascade has gain attention.Many studies have been published to link them with CRC metastasis.In this review,we will briefly discuss metastatic steps in the light of mi RNAs,along with their target genes.We will discuss how the aberration in the expression of mi RNAs leads to the formation of CRC by effecting the regulation of their target genes.As mi RNAs are being exploited for diagnosis,prognosis,and monitoring of cancer and other diseases,their high tissue specificity and critical role in oncogenesis make them new biomarkers for the diagnosis and classification of cancer as well as for predicting patients’outcome.Mi RNA signatures have been identified for many human tumors including CRC,and mi RNA-based therapies to treat cancer have been emphasized lately.These will also be discussed in this review.Shan Muhammad Kavanjit Kaur Rui Huang Qian Zhang Paviter Kaur Hamza Obaid Yazdani Muhammad Umar Bilal Jiang Zheng Liu Zheng Xi-Shan Wang 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,45:13
2Low-Dimensional Halide Perovskites and Their Advanced Optoelectronic Applications显示文摘Metal halide perovskites are crystalline materials originally developed out of scientific curiosity. They have shown great potential as active materials in optoelectronic applications. In the last 6 years, their certified photovoltaic efficiencies have reached 22.1%. Compared to bulk halide perovskites, low-dimensional ones exhibited novel physical properties. The photoluminescence quantum yields of perovskite quantum dots are close to 100%. The external quantum efficiencies and current efficiencies of perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes have reached 8% and 43 cd A^(-1),respectively, and their nanowire lasers show ultralow-threshold room-temperature lasing with emission tunability and ease of synthesis. Perovskite nanowire photodetectors reached a responsivity of 10 A W^(-1)and a specific normalized detectivity of the order of 10^(12 )Jones. Different from most reported reviews focusing on photovoltaic applications, we summarize the rapid progress in the study of low-dimensional perovskite materials, as well as their promising applications in optoelectronic devices. In particular, we review the wide tunability of fabrication methods and the state-of-the-art research outputs of low-dimensional perovskite optoelectronic devices. 3Molecular study of HCV detection,genotypes and their routes of transmission in North West Frontier Province,Pakistan显示文摘Objective:To determine hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotypes and explore the associated risk factors in chronic HCY patients.Methods:A total of 116 patients with chronic hepatitis C were subjected to polymerase chain reaction(PCR) based detection out of which 112 chronic HCV patients[53 male(47.32%),59 female(52.68%);mean age(43.76±16.40) years;mean BMI(23.8± 3.9)kg]were enrolled in this study.The frequency of 6 HCV genotypes and associated risk factors were evaluated from five districts of North West Frontier Province(NWFP).Results:Genotype 3was the most prevalent in 73 samples(65.17%) followed by genotype 1 in 24(21.42%) and genotype2 in 13(11.60%) samples.Genotype3 had significantly high prevalence(P=0.0002).The results showed that 48(42.85%) samples were infected with HCV 3a:25(22.32%) with 3b;14(12.50%) with 1a;10(8.92%)with 1b;11(9.82%) with 2a;2(1.78%) with 2b;and 2 were untypable.The distribution of HCV genotypes in Murdan.Charsadda,Peshawar.Sawabi and Nowshehra districts was different.Use of unsterile equipment lor medication,barbers and previous history of hospitalization were the main risk factors for HCV transmission.Conclusions:Cenotype 3a and 3b.1a.1b and 2a are the common genotypes in NWFP.Genotype 4.5.and 6 can not be found in a single sample.The level of awareness about various modes ot transmission of HCV among the population is found to be verv low.Asher Zaman Safi Yasir Waheed Joharia Sadat Solat-Ul-Islam Sadia Salahuddin Umar Saeed Muhammad Ashraf 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,7:5
4Single vs dual(en bloc) kidney transplants from donors ≤ 5 years of age: A single center experience显示文摘AIM: To compare outcomes between single and dual en bloc(EB) kidney transplants(KT) from small pediatric donors. METHODS: Monocentric nonprospective review of KTs from pediatric donors ≤ 5 years of age. Dual EB KT was defined as keeping both donor kidneys attached tothe inferior vena cava and aorta, which were then used as venous and arterial conduits for the subsequent transplant into a single recipient. Donor age was less useful than either donor weight or kidney size in decision-making for kidney utilization as kidneys from donors < 8 kg or kidneys < 6 cm in length were not transplanted. Post-transplant management strategies were standardized in all patients.RESULTS: From 2002-2015, 59 KTs were performed including 34 dual EB and 25 single KTs. Mean age of donors(17 mo vs 38 mo, P < 0.001), mean weight(11.0 kg vs 17.4 kg, P = 0.046) and male donors(50% vs 84%, P = 0.01) were lower in the dual EB compared to the single KT group, respectively. Mean cold ischemia time(21 h), kidney donor profile index(KDPI; 73% vs 62%) and levels of serum creatinine(SCr, 0.37 mg/d L vs 0.49 mg/d L, all P = NS) were comparable in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively. Actuarial graft and patient survival rates at 5-years follow-up were comparable. There was one case of thrombosis resulting in graft loss in each group. Delayed graft function incidence(12% dual EB vs 20% single KT, P = NS) was slightly lower in dual EB KT recipients. Initial duration of hospital stay(mean 5.4 d vs 5.6 d) and the one-year incidences of acute rejection(6% vs 16%), operative complications(3% vs 4%), and major infection were comparable in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively(all P = NS). Mean 12 mo SCr and abbreviated MDRD levels were 1.17 mg/d L vs 1.35 mg/d L and 72.5 m L/min per 1.73 m^2 vs 60.5 m L/min per 1.73 m^2(both P = NS) in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively. 5Predicting the presence of adenomatous polyps during colonoscopy with National Cancer Institute Colorectal Cancer Risk-Assessment Tool显示文摘AIM To evaluate the National Cancer Institute(NCI)Colorectal Cancer(CRC)Risk Assessment Tool as a predictor for the presence of adenomatous polyps(AP) found during screening or surveillance colonoscopy.METHODS This is a retrospective single center observational study.We collected data of adenomatous polyps in each colonoscopy and then evaluated the lifetime CRC risk.We calculated the AP prevalence across risk score quintiles,odds ratios of the prevalence of AP across risk score quintiles,area under curves(AUCs)and Youden’s indexes to assess the optimal risk score cut off value for AP prevalence status.RESULTS The prevalence of AP gradually increased throughout the five risk score quintiles:i.e.,27.63%in the first and 51.35%in the fifth quintile.The odd ratios of AP prevalence in the fifth quintile compared to the first and second quintile were 2.76[confidence interval(CI):1.71-4.47]and 2.09(CI:1.32-3.30).The AUC for all patients was 0.62(CI:0.58-0.66).Youden’s Index indicated the optimal risk score cutoff value discriminating AP prevalence status was 3.60.CONCLUSION Patients with the higher NCI risk score have higher risk of AP and subsequent CRC;therefore,measures to increase the effectiveness of CRC detection in these patients include longer withdrawal time,early surveillance colonoscopy,and choosing flexible colonoscopy over other CRC screening modalities.Hassan Tariq Muhammad Umar Kamal Harish Patel Ravi Patel Muhammad Ameen Shehi Elona Maram Khalifa Sara Azam Aiyi Zhang Kishore Kumar Ahmed Baiomi Danial Shaikh Jasbir Makker 2018World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,34:3

9Optimal management of nitrogen fertilizer in the main rice crop and its carrying-over effect on ratoon rice under mechanized cultivation in Southeast China显示文摘This study attempted to clarify the carrying-over effect of different nitrogen treatments applied to the main crop on the crop population growth and yield formation of ratoon rice under mechanized cultivation in Southeast China.Based on the constant total nitrogen application amounts(225.00 kg ha;)in the main crop,an experiment with different ratios of basal and topdressing nitrogen fertilizer(the ratio of basal fertilizer:primary tillering fertilizer:secondary tillering fertilizer:booting fertilizer at 3:1:2:4(N1),3:2:1:4(N2),3:3:0:4(N3),and 4:3:0:3(N4),respectively,and a control without nitrogen treatment(N0))was set up across two consecutive years in field using hybrid rice variety Yongyou 1540 as the test materials.The results showed that the total tiller number and effective tillering percentage increased in the main crop under the N1 treatment,more nitrogen fertilizer applied in late growth stage of the main crop,and its effective tillering percentage of the main crop was the highest at up to 70.18%,which was 9.15%higher than that of conventional fertilization treatment(N4),more nitrogen fertilizer applied in early growth stage of the main crop.The same tendency was observed in leaf area index(LAI)value of the main crop and its subsequent ratoon rice,which were 16.52 and 29.87%higher,respectively,in the N1 treatment than that in the N4 treatment at the full heading stage.The same was true in the case of the transport rates of stem and sheath dry mater and the canopy light interception rates in both the main and its ratoon crops.The transport rate of stem and sheath in main crop rice under N1 treatment increased by 50.57%compared with N4 treatment.The canopy light interception rate of N1 treatment increased by 5.07%compared with N4 treatment at the full heading stage of the ratoon crop.Therefore,the total actual yield was the highest in the main and its ratoon crops under N1 treatment,averaging 17351.23 kg ha;in two-year trials,which was 23.00%higher than that in the conventional fertilization treatment(N4).The results showed that appropriate nitrogen treatment was able to produce a good crop stand in the main crop,which was essential for producing a good ratoon crop population and high yield especially under mechanized cultivation with low stubble height of the main crop.The study suggested that shifting the proper nitrogen application amounts to the late growth stage of the main crop,such as N1 treatment,not only had a higher productive effect on ensuring the yield of the main crop,but also had a positive effect on the axillary bud sprouts from the stubbles for ratoon rice,resulting in an increased percentage of productive panicles and achieving the goal of one planting with two good harvests under the conditions of our study.HUANG Jin-wen WU Jia-yi CHEN Hong-fei ZHANG Zhi-xing FANG Chang-xun SHAO Cai-hong LIN Wei-wei WENG Pei-ying Muhammad Umar KHAN LIN Wen-xiong 2022Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,2:2

11Prevalence of advanced liver fibrosis and steatosis in type-2 diabetics with normal transaminases:A prospective cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and type-2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)have an intricate bidirectional relationship.Individuals with T2DM,not only have a higher prevalence of non-alcoholic steatosis,but also carry a higher risk of progression to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.Experts still differ in their recommendations of screening for NAFLD among patients with T2DM.AIM To study the prevalence of NAFLD and advanced fibrosis among our patient population with T2DM.METHODS During the study period(November 2018 to January 2020),59 adult patients with T2DM and 26 non-diabetic control group individuals were recruited prospectively.Patients with known significant liver disease and alcohol use were excluded.Demographic data and lab parameters were recorded.Liver elastography was performed in all patients.RESULTS In the study group comprised of patients with T2DM and normal alanine aminotransferase levels(mean 17.8±7 U/L),81%had hepatic steatosis as diagnosed by elastography.Advanced hepatic fibrosis(stage F3 or F4)was present in 12%of patients with T2DM as compared to none in the control group.Patients with T2DM also had higher number of individuals with grade 3 steatosis[45.8%vs 11.5%,(P<0.00001)and metabolic syndrome(84.7%vs 11.5%,P<0.00001)].CONCLUSION A significant number of patients with T2DM,despite having normal transaminase levels,have NAFLD,grade 3 steatosis and advanced hepatic fibrosis as measured by liver elastography.Jasbir Makker Hassan Tariq Kishore Kumar Madhavi Ravi Danial Haris Shaikh Vivien Leung Umar Hayat Muhammad T Hassan Harish Patel Suresh Nayudu Sridhar Chilimuri 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,6:2
12作物化感作用类型:中国研究现状及其展望显示文摘本文从作物种内互作和种间互作以及直接化感作用和间接化感作用两个维度重点阐述了近年来中国在作物化感作用类型的研究及其新进展,以期与同行分享该领域的研究成果和经验。早在1984年就有作物化感作用的相关报道,近年来取得了很大的进展。作物化感作用的概念也延伸到植物-土壤-微生物相互之间的化感作用,作物种植体系中存在的偏害、自毒和促进等现象均与此有关。最近的研究表明,供体植物通过触发防御基因的表达,使代谢产物(化感物质)释放到环境中,尤其是土壤环境中作物的根系等对靶标植物(如杂草)的胁迫做出响应,从而在栽培系统中产生化感偏害或化感偏利现象。根据作用对象的不同,作物化感偏害和偏利现象分为种间和种内的相互作用两种类型。种间作用包括抑制和互惠作用,化感物质的种类、含量及其生物效应决定了其对邻近物种的化感效应;种内作用包括促进和自毒作用,即化感正效应和化感负效应。化感正效应或负效应均与根系分泌物介导的根际土壤微生物组成和结构的变化有关。连续单一化种植导致的病原菌增多、有益菌减少,土壤微生物结构失衡可引起化感负效应。这种微生物结构失衡不可避免地导致土壤养分封存、土壤酸化和土传病害发生等,从而导致作物产量和品质下降。化感正效应则与之相反,连作促进了有益菌群的增加和致病微生物的减少,提高了微生物多样性,从而改善土壤微生境,提高作物产量和品质。因此,研究根际土壤微生物的结构与功能,合理调控作物根际生境以保证其高产优质,促进农业可持续发展,将是今后研究的重点。林志敏 MUHAMMAD Umar Khan 方长旬 林文雄 2022中国生态农业学报(中英文)2022,30,3:2
13海藻糖氧钒对小鼠胃肠道的氧化损伤以及Vc和GSH的抗氧化保护作用显示文摘目的探讨海藻糖氧钒(VT)对小鼠胃肠道的氧化应激损伤、GSH/GSTs通路基因表达的影响以及维生素C(Vc)和还原型谷胱甘肽(GSH)的保护作用。方法 30只雄性昆明小鼠随机分组:VT组(B组)、Vc+VT组(C组)、GSH+VT组(D组)、Vc+GSH+VT组(E组),每天灌服VT(125mg/kg),而正常对照组(A组)灌服等量生理盐水,Vc和GSH在VT给药前1h灌服,连续15d。取各组小鼠胃和十二指肠,DTNB法测定GSH含量,谷胱甘肽氧化法测定谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GSH-Px)活力,实时荧光定量PCR法检测GSH/GSTs通路相关基因GCLC、GSS、GSR和GSTpi的表达。结果 VT组胃、十二指肠的GSH含量、GSH-Px活性及GCLC、GSS、GSR和GSTpi的表达均低于A组(P<0.05)。C、D、E组各指标显著提高,但仅E组小鼠胃组织的指标恢复到正常对照组水平。C组和D组除十二指肠中GSR表达显著差异外,其余指标差异均无统计学意义。结论灌服VT对小鼠胃肠道产生一定的氧化应激损伤,并可影响GSH含量和GSH-Px活性以及GSH/GSTs通路相关基因的正常表达。外源补充Vc、GSH及两者联用有一定的抗氧化保护作用,降低了VT的毒性,且两者联用的效果更优,使胃中的相关指标达到正常水平。魏倩 MUHAMMAD Umar 姜苹哲 李晓丹 刘奇奇 邢曙光 罗文亚 杨星楷 李明刚 2018西安交通大学学报(医学版)2018,39,6:2
14Non-performing loans(NPLs),liquidity creation,and moral hazard:Case of Chinese banks显示文摘This study analyzes the impact of non-performing loans(NPLs)on bank liquidity creation to investigate the existence of moral hazard problem in Chinese banks.It uses data from 197 listed and unlisted Chinese banks,spanning the period 2005 to 2014.Total liquidity creation by Chinese banks is declining,and NPLs ratio has started to increase following a continuous decline between 2005 and 2012.Using one-step system GMM estimation,fixed and random effect model,and pool data analysis,we find that liquidity creation by Chinese banks does not depend on NPLs ratio,i.e.,we did not find the evidence of moral hazard problem in Chinese banks.We repeated the analysis for small and large banks and the results of these sub-samples reinforced our findings for the aggregate sample.Muhammad Umar Gang Sun 2016China Finance and Economic Review2016,5,3:1

18Single and Mitochondrial Gene Inheritance Disorder Prediction Using Machine Learning显示文摘One of the most difficult jobs in the post-genomic age is identifying a genetic disease from a massive amount of genetic data.Furthermore,the complicated genetic disease has a very diverse genotype,making it challenging to find genetic markers.This is a challenging process since it must be completed effectively and efficiently.This research article focuses largely on which patients are more likely to have a genetic disorder based on numerous medical parameters.Using the patient’s medical history,we used a genetic disease prediction algorithm that predicts if the patient is likely to be diagnosed with a genetic disorder.To predict and categorize the patient with a genetic disease,we utilize several deep and machine learning techniques such as Artificial neural network(ANN),K-nearest neighbors(KNN),and Support vector machine(SVM).To enhance the accuracy of predicting the genetic disease in any patient,a highly efficient approach was utilized to control how the model can be used.To predict genetic disease,deep and machine learning approaches are performed.The most productive tool model provides more precise efficiency.The simulation results demonstrate that by using the proposed model with the ANN,we achieve the highest model performance of 85.7%,84.9%,84.3%accuracy of training,testing and validation respectively.This approach will undoubtedly transform genetic disorder prediction and give a real competitive strategy to save patients’lives.Muhammad Umar Nasir Muhammad Adnan Khan Muhammad Zubair Taher MGhazal Raed A.Said Hussam Al Hamadi 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,10:1

20Environmental degradation and poverty:A bibliometric review显示文摘Understanding the mutual logic between environment and poverty mitigation is vital for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).This study conducts a bibliometric review of the available literature on environmental degradation and poverty and summarizes the existing researches.By applying suitable keywords,we retrieved 175 peer-reviewed articles from the Web of Science published between 1993 and 2020.We utilized the visualization of similarity viewer(VOSviewer)for this bibliometric study and classified the leading publications,prominent journals,and institutions.Furthermore,our bibliometric review found a phenomenon in investigation that people are indifference about the impact of environmental degradation on rising poverty levels in poor and developing countries.In terms of contributions,this study classifies 4 leading thematic clusters that identify how environmental degradation increases poverty.By employing text mining analysis,this research connects specific environmental terms accountable for the recent rise in global poverty.We finally recommend that including other databases to strengthen the findings of environmental degradation and poverty is one of the future research directions.Muhammad Ali Khan BURKI Umar BURKI Usama NAJAM 2021Regional Sustainability2021,2,4:1
