| 1 | Experimental Investigation of Immiscible Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Foam Rheology for Improved Oil Recovery显示文摘This paper presents the rheological behaviour of supercritical CO_2(s CO_2) foam at reservoir conditions of 1 500 psi and 80 °C. Different commercial surfactants were screened and utilized in order to generate a fairly stable CO_2 foam. Mixed surfactant system was also introduced to generate strong foam. Foam rheology was studied for some specific foam qualities using a high pressure high temperature(HPHT) foam loop rheometer. A typical shear thinning behaviour of the foam was observed and a significant increase in the foam viscosity was noticed with the increase of foam quality until 85%. A desired high apparent viscosity with coarse texture was found at 85% foam quality. Foam visualization above 85% showed an unstable foam due to extremely thin lamella which collapsed and totally disappeared in the loop rheometer. Below 5_2%, a non-homogenous and unstable foam was found having low viscosity with some liquid accumulation at the bottom of the circulation loop. | 2 | High-dose-rate intraluminal brachytherapy during preoperative chemoradiation for locally advanced rectal cancers显示文摘AIM:To determine the feasibility and safety of high dose rate intraluminal brachytherapy(HDR-ILBT) boost during preoperative chemoradiation for rectal cancer.METHODS:Between 2008 and 2009,thirty-six patients with locally advanced rectal cancer(≥ T3 or N+),were treated initially with concurrent capecitabine(825 mg/m2 oral twice daily) and pelvic external beam radiotherapy(EBRT)(45 Gy in 25 fractions),then were randomized to group A;HDR-ILBT group(n = 17) to receive 5.5-7 Gy×2 to gross tumor volume(GTV) and group B;EBRT group(n = 19) to receive 5.4 Gy×3 fractions to GTV with EBRT.All patients underwent total mesorectal excision.RESULTS:Grade 3 acute toxicities were registered in 12 patients(70.6%) in group A and in 8(42.1%) in group B.Complete pathologic response of T stage(ypT0) in group A was registered in 10 patients(58.8%) and in group B,3 patients(15.8%) had ypT0(P < 0.0001).Sphincter preservation was reported in 6/9 patients(66.7%) in group A and in 5/10 patients(50%) in group B(P < 0.01).Overall radiological response was 68.15% and 66.04% in Group A and B,respectively.During a median follow up of 18 mo,late grade 1 and 2 sequelae were registered in 3 patients(17.6%) and 4 patients(21.1%) in the groups A and B,respectively.CONCLUSION:HDR-ILBT was found to be effective dose escalation technique in preoperative chemoradiation for rectal cancers,with higher response rates,downstaging and with manageable acute toxicities. | Mutahir Ali Tunio Mansoor Rafi Altaf Hashmi Rehan Mohsin Abdul Qayyum Mujahid Hasan Amjad Sattar Muhammad Mubarak | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,35: | 3 |

| 4 | Joint Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) & Walsh-Hadamard Transform: Enhancing the Receiver Performance显示文摘Non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) is a new access method to achieve high performance gains in terms of capacity and throughput, so it is currently under consideration as one of the candidates for fifth generation(5 G) technologies. NOMA utilizes power domain in order to superimpose signals of multiple users in a single transmitted signal. This creates a lot of interference at the receive side. Although the use of successive interference cancellation(SIC) technique reduces the interference, but to further improve the receiver performance, in this paper, we have proposed a joint Walsh-Hadamard transform(WHT) and NOMA approach for achieving better performance gains than the conventional NOMA. WHT is a well-known code used in communication systems and is used as an orthogonal variable spreading factor(OVSF) in communication systems. Application of WHT to NOMA results in low bit error rate(BER) and high throughput performance for both low and high channel gain users. Further, it also reduces peak to average power ratio(PAPR) of the user signal. | 12 | Effect of different catalysts and growth temperature on the photoluminescence properties of zinc silicate nanostructures grown via vapor-liquid-solid method显示文摘We explore the photoluminescence properties of zinc silicate(Zn_(2)SiO_(4)) nanostructures synthesized by vapor-liquidsolid(VLS)mode of growth using three different catalysts(Sn,Ag,and Mn).Different catalysts significantly influence the growth rate which in turn has an impact on the structure and hence the photoluminescence of the prepared zinc silicate nanostructures.Zn_(2)SiO_(4) has a wide bandgap of about 5.5 eV and in its pure form,it does not emit in visible region due to its inner shell electronic transitions between the 3 d5 energy levels.However,the incorporation of different catalysts(Sn,Ag and Mn)at different growth temperatures into the Zn_(2)SiO_(4) crystal growth kinetics provides wide visible spectral range of photoluminescence(PL)emissions.PL analysis shows broad multi-band spectrum in the visible region and distinct colors(red,yellow,green,blue,cyan and violet)are obtained depending on the crystalline structure of the prepared nanostructures.The allowed transitions due to the effect of different catalysts on zinc silicate lattice offer a huge cross-section of absorption that generates strong photoluminescence.The correlation between the structural and optical properties of the synthesized nanostructures is discussed in detail.The synthesized photoluminescent nanostructures have potential applications in solidstate lighting and display devices. | Ghfoor Muhammad Imran Murtaza Rehan Abid Naeem Ahmad | 2022 | Chinese Physics B2022,31,5: | 0 |

| 16 | Exhumation History and Exploration Potential of Gold Deposits in the NE Jiaodong Peninsula,North China:Evidence from Apatite and Zircon Fission Track Thermochronology显示文摘As the most important gold producer in China,the Northwest Jiaodong Peninsula is famous for its large gold deposits.In recent years,the discovery of gold mineralization has reached a depth of 4000 m below the surface in this region.It has attracted significant interest from explorers about the prospecting potential at greater depths.Besides,the current deep drilling shows that the prospecting effect in the west portion is better than the region to the east.Does it imply that there is a difference in prospecting potential between the east and the west?This paper seeks to address the issue through fission track thermochronology on apatite and zircon to reveal the temperature-time evolution relationship of rock mass and to inverts their thermal evolution history.In addition,this study analyzes the transformation of ore deposits after mineralization,quantitatively calculates the uplift-erosion rate of rock mass,and summarizes the preservation law of ore deposits.Based on the thermal history simulation of the apatite fission track,our results show that the Guocheng gold belt has experienced three stages of thermal evolution:108-74,74-27,and 27-0 Ma.The uplift and cooling processes of the threestage tectonic uplift events are the results of multi-stage Pacific plate accretion.The calculated total denudation depth of the gold deposit in the Guocheng gold belt from Cretaceous to the present is about 3.4-5.3 km.The metallogenic depth of the ore body in the gold belt is 5.6-8.0 km,which indicates that the ore body in the Guocheng gold belt has suffered a significant degree of denudation.It is speculated that the location with less denudation in the southwest has greater prospecting potential.Our results quantitatively identify the uplift and denudation of the deposit after mineralization,which provides a new theoretical reference for regional mineralization,deep prospecting and exploration. | Yuanlin Chen Huan Li Chaoyang Zheng Safiyanu Muhammad Elatikpo Liu’an Duan Bo Feng Dadou Li Rehan Khan | 2023 | Journal of Earth Science2023,34,3: | 0 |
| 17 | Efficacy and safety of thermobalancing therapy with Dr Allen’s Device for chronic low back pain:A randomised controlled trial显示文摘BACKGROUND Lumbar disc herniation and non-specific low back pain are common conditions that seriously affect patients’health-related quality of life(HRQoL).Although empirical evidence has demonstrated that novel Thermobalancing therapy and Dr Allen’s Device can relieve chronic low back pain,there have been no randomised controlled trials for these indications.AIM To evaluate the efficacy of Dr Allen’s Device in lumbar disc herniation(LDH)and non-specific low back pain(NSLBP).METHODS A randomised clinical trial was conducted investigating 55 patients with chronic low back pain due to LDH(n=28)or NSLBP(n=27),out of which 15 were randomly assigned to the control group and 40 were assigned to the treatment group.The intervention was treatment with Dr Allen’s Device for 3 mo.Changes in HRQoL were assessed using the Numerical Pain Rating Scale and the Japanese Orthopedic Association Back Pain Questionnaire.RESULTS Thermobalancing therapy with Dr Allen’s Device showed a significant reduction in pain in the treatment group(P<0.001),with no recorded adverse effects.Both pain assessment scales showed a significant improvement in patients’perception of pain indicating improvement in HRQoL.CONCLUSION The out-of-hospital use of Thermobalancing therapy with Dr Allen’s Device for Low Back Treatment relieves chronic low back pain significantly and without adverse effects,improves the level of activity and HRQoL among patients with LDH and NSLBP.This study demonstrates the importance of this safe first-line therapy that can be used for effective at-home management of chronic low back pain. | Simon Allen Abid Rashid Ariana Adjani Muhammad Akram Fahad Said Khan Rehan Sherwani Muhammad Talha Khalil | 2023 | World Journal of Orthopedics2023,14,12: | 0 |

| 19 | Application of anionic surfactant\engineered water hybrid EOR in carbonate formations:An experimental analysis显示文摘A hybrid enhanced oil recovery(EOR)method by combining low salinity water(LSW)and low salinity surfactant(LSS)flooding techniques was designed.Different experiments were done to screen the Caspian seawater(SW)with altered ionic composition and surfactant,for the optimized performance in Kazakhstani carbonate oil fields.Changing to a more water-wet state and creating the middle phase were studied as the main criteria to select the best-engineered brine and anionic surfactant.The largest alteration towards the water-wet condition was recorded at 10 times dilution of the SW with 3-and 6-times spiked calcium and sulfate ions,respectively(10xSW-6SO4,Mg,3Ca).This combination of anionic surfactants with carbonate formations is considered as a new approach in hybrid EOR methods.Among the anionic surfactants screened,Soloterra-113H(alkyl benzenesulfonic acid)showed the best solubilization ratio,aqueous stability and Winsor type 3 microemulsions.The wettability alteration by the combination of optimized brine and screened surfactant was greater compared to the standalone LSW,which was confirmed by the 10difference in contact angle measurement.The microemulsion phase constituted nearly 40%of the total height of the oil/brine column by the hybrid method.The recovery factor after injecting formation water was 52%,and it increased to 61%after optimized LSW injection.After switching to the engineered brine/surfactant,the recovery factor reached 70%,which proves the effectiveness of the hybrid method.The proposed combined method works better than either standalone EOR method due to the higher alteration in capillary number by changing wettability and reducing IFT,which leads to higher oil recovery. | Aigerim Sekerbayeva Peyman Pourafshary Muhammad Rehan Hashmet | 2022 | Petroleum2022,8,4: | 0 |
