| 1 | Correlating Fe source with Fe-N-C active site construction: Guidancefor rational design of high-performance ORR catalyst显示文摘Pyrolyzed Fe-N_X/C materials derived from Fe-doped ZIF-8 are recently emerged as promising alternatives to noble metal platinum-based catalysts towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and elucidating the dependacne of Fe source on the active site structure and final ORR performance is highly desirbale for further development of these materials. Here, we designed and synthesized a series of Fe-N-C catalysts using ZIF-8 and various iron salts(Fe(acac)_3, FeCl_3, Fe(NO_3)_3) as precusors. We found that the iron precursors,mainly the molecular size, hydrolysis extent, do play a major role in determining the final morphology of Fe, namely forming the Fe-Nx coordination or Fe_3C nanoparticles, as well as the site density, therefore,significantly affecting the ORR activity. | 4 | Vacuum carburization of 12Cr2Ni4A low carbon alloy steel with lanthanum and cerium ion implantation显示文摘As bearing parts, 12 Cr2 Ni4 A is expected to have high hardness and excellent fatigue strength, so carburizing is employed to improve the inherit properties of 12 Cr2 Ni4 A. However, the traditional carburizing is limited by poor microstructure distribution and low rate of carburizing. The rare earth ion implantation is known to help improving the properties of tribology, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of metal. In this article, the RE implantation is employed to assist the carburizing. Lanthanum and cerium ion implantations are initially used to assist 12 Cr2 Ni4 A low pressure vacuum carburization.The microstructure, content of retained austenite, hardness, thickness of layer and carbon diffusion were analyzed by optical microscopy(OM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Rockwell/Vickers hardness tester, respectively. It was shown that lanthanum and cerium implantations can improve structure of the vacuum carburizing layer, and enhance the uniformity of carbon element distribution on the carburized surface. Meanwhile the RE implantation plays a positive role in promoting the surface hardness and carburized rate. The lanthanum element has more significant effect on surface hardness and content of retained austenite than cerium element. | 5 | Hydrogen etching induced hierarchical meso/micro-pore structure with increased active density to boost ORR performance of Fe-N-C catalyst显示文摘Rational regulation on pore structure and active site density plays critical roles in enhancing the performance of Fe-N-C catalysts. As the microporous structure of the carbon substrate is generally regarded as the active site hosts, its hostility to electron/mass transfer could lead to the incomplete fulfillment of the catalytic activity. Besides, the formation of inactive metallic Fe particles during the conventional catalyst synthesis could also decrease the active site density and complicate the identification of real active site. Herein, we developed a facial hydrogen etching methodology to yield single site Fe-N-C catalysts featured with micro/mesoporous hierarchical structure. The hydrogen concentration in pyrolysis process was designated to effectively regulate the pore structure and active site density of the resulted catalysts.The optimized sample achieves excellent ORR catalytic performance with an ultralow H2O2 yield(1%)and superb stability over 10,000 cycles. | 7 | Studies on photoprotective mechanism of desert plant Reaumuria soongorica under progressive soil drying显示文摘Reaumuria soongorica (pall.) Maxim, a perennial desert semi-shrub, is widely found in semi-arid areas of China. It shows strong tolerance to drought, high temperature and intense radiation in its natural habitat. In the present study, photoprotective mechanism of R. soongorica was investigated by analyzing diurnal variations of gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorecence parameters during progressive soil drying. The results show that leaf water potential of R. soongorica decreased when the soil water content dropped. Diurnal patterns of net photosynthetic rate (Pn) changed from 'two peaks' to 'one peak' under drought stress, and the leaf water use efficiency (WUE) increased under moderate drought and declined under severe drought. Pn , the primary maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) and the quantum efficiency of non-cyclic electron transport of PSII (ΦPSII) decreased obviously at noon, and showed a photoinhibition phenomenon. But, the non-photochemical quenching of fluorescence (NPQ) soon reached its maximum in the day and then remained almost at the high level until 17:00, indicating that the xanthophylls cycle-dependent thermal energy dissipation played an important role. Diurnal variations of the original chlorophyll fluorescence (Fo) increased at first and then decreased. The increased value of F o under drought stress indicates that there was a reversible inactivation of PSII reaction center. | 17 | Polarization modulation with optical lock-in detection reveals universal fluorescence anisotropy of subcellular structures in live cells显示文摘The orientation of fluorophores can reveal crucial information about the structure and dynamics of their associated subcellular organelles.Despite significant progress in super-resolution,fluorescence polarization microscopy remains limited to unique samples with relatively strong polarization modulation and not applicable to the weak polarization signals in samples due to the excessive background noise.Here we apply optical lock-in detection to amplify the weak polarization modulation with super-resolution.This novel technique,termed optical lock-in detection super-resolution dipole orientation mapping(OLID-SDOM),could achieve a maximum of 100 frames per second and rapid extraction of 2D orientation,and distinguish distance up to 50 nm,making it suitable for monitoring structural dynamics concerning orientation changes in vivo.OLID-SDOM was employed to explore the universal anisotropy of a large variety of GFP-tagged subcellular organelles,including mitochondria,lysosome,Golgi,endosome,etc.We found that OUF(Orientation Uniformity Factor)of OLID-SDOM can be specific for different subcellular organelles,indicating that the anisotropy was related to the function of the organelles,and OUF can potentially be an indicator to distinguish normal and abnormal cells(even cancer cells).Furthermore,dual-color super-resolution OLID-SDOM imaging of lysosomes and actins demonstrates its potential in studying dynamic molecular interactions.The subtle anisotropy changes of expanding and shrinking dendritic spines in live neurons were observed with real-time OLID-SDOM.Revealing previously unobservable fluorescence anisotropy in various samples and indicating their underlying dynamic molecular structural changes,OLID-SDOM expands the toolkit for live cell research. | Meiling Guan Miaoyan Wang Karl Zhanghao Xu Zhang Meiqi Li Wenhui Liu Jing Niu Xusan Yang Long Chen Zhenli Jing Micheal Q.Zhang Dayong Jin Peng Xi Juntao Gao | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,1: | 1 |
