| 3 | Numerical simulation of dynamic response of operating metro tunnel induced by ground explosion显示文摘To evaluate the effects of possible ground explosion on a shallow-buried metro tunnel, this paper attempts to analyze the dynamic responses of the operating metro tunnel in soft soil, using a widely applied explicit dynamic nonlinear finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA. The blast induced wave propagation in the soil and the tunnel, and the von Mises effective stress and acceleration of the tunnel lining were presented, and the safety of the tunnel lining was evaluated based on the failure criterion. Besides, the parametric study of the soil was also carried out. | 7 | Technological breakthroughs in generating transgene-free and genetically stable CRISPR-edited plants显示文摘CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technologies have been very effective in editing target genes in all major crop plants and offer unprecedented potentials in crop improvement.A major challenge in using CRISPR gene-editing technology for agricultural applications is that the target gene-edited crop plants need to be transgene free to maintain trait stability and to gain regulatory approval for commercial production.In this article,we present various strategies for generating transgene-free and target geneedited crop plants.The CRISPR transgenes can be removed by genetic segregation if the crop plants are reproduced sexually.Marker-assisted tracking and eliminating transgenes greatly decrease the time and labor needed for identifying the ideal transgene-free plants.Transgenes can be programed to undergo self-elimination when CRISPR genes and suicide genes are sequentially activated,greatly accelerating the isolation of transgene-free and target gene-edited plants.Transgene-free plants can also be generated using approaches that are considered non-transgenic such as ribonucleoprotein transfection,transient expression of transgenes without DNA integration,and nano-biotechnology.Here,we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the various strategies in generating transgene-free plants and provide guidance for adopting the best strategies in editing a crop plant. | Yubing He Yunde Zhao | 2020 | aBIOTECH2020,1,1: | 5 |
| 8 | Effects of drought stress on antioxidant enzyme,photosynthetic pigment and flavonoid pathway in two desert shrubs显示文摘Antioxidant enzyme activity,photosynthetic pigment content,and free malondialdehyde(MDA),as well as flavonoid content and the key enzyme activity in the flavonoid pathway were determined in two desert shrubs,Caryopteris mongolica Bunge and Reaumuria soongorica(Pall.)Maxim.under drought stress.The free MDA content was enhanced during the experimental period,which may be an indicator of oxidative stress.Superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),and ascorbate peroxidase(APX)activities in C.mongholica showed a significant increase during the experiment,but catalase(CAT)activity was slightly decreased.On the other hand,POD and APX activities showed a significant increase and SOD and CAT activity data had no significant changes in R.soongorica.APX,SOD,and CAT activities were higher in R.soongorica than in C.mongholica,but MDA content was lower,indicating that the lower values of MDA were attributed to higher activities of antioxidant enzyme in R.soongorica.Chlorophyll content decreased significantly in the two shrubs during the experiment,which indicated that there was a photopro-tection mechanism through reducing light absorbance by decreasing pigments content.Caretonoids content increased in C.mongholica and decreased in R.soongorica.The ratio of Chla/Chlb decreased significantly but caretonoids/Chl revealed a sig-nificant increase in the two shrubs,which could be explained as no decrease of peripheral light-harvesting complexes and a higher tolerance to drought.Total flavonoid content and the activities of phenylalanine ammonialyase(PAL)and chalcone isomerase(CHI)showed different changes between C.mongholica and R.soongorica after treatment.These values decreased in R.soongorica and increased in C.mongholica except for PAL activity.However,anthocyanin content increased in the two shrubs,indicating that there was a different regulation response in the flavonoid pathway in the two shrubs under drought stress,and an-thocyanin should be an important antioxidant both in the shrubs.Our results demonstrated the different responses of antioxidant defense and drought tolerance ability between the two shrubs. | YuBing Liu MeiLing Liu Bo Cao | 2011 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2011,3,4: | 5 |

| 12 | Predictions of mortality related to four major cancers in China,2020 to 2030显示文摘Background:Cancer has become a global health problem,and assessments of cancer mortality are important for effective public health policy-making and adequate resource allocation.In this study,we aimed to predict the mortality rates and numbers of deaths related to four common cancers(lung,liver,stomach,and esophagus)in China from 2020 to 2030 and to estimate the corresponding cancer burden caused by population aging and tobacco smoking.Methods:Cancer mortality data(2004-2017)were extracted from China’s death surveillance datasets,and China’s population figures(2020-2030)were obtained from the United Nations population projections.Smoking prevalence data were retrieved from a World Health Organization global report,and relative risks of smoking and cancers were derived from large-scale Asian studies.We predicted the deaths related to the four major cancers and age-standardized mortality rates using joinpoint regression and linear regression models.The tobacco smoking related burden of these four major cancers was estimated using the population attributable fraction.Results:Unlike lung cancer mortality which was predicted to continue to increase,the age-standardized mortality rates for digestive cancers(liver,stomach,and esophageal cancers)are predicted to decline over the next decade.The number of deaths caused by the four major cancers is predicted to increase from 1,490,304 in 2020 to 1,823,960 in 2030.The age-specific mortality rates of the four major cancers are predicted to increase with age after 40-45 years,peaking in the age groups of 80-84 and ≥85 years.In 2030,the combined number of deaths from the four examined cancers among adults aged ≥65 years is predicted to be 1,167,153,accounting for 64% of all deaths from these cancers.Tobacco smoking is predicted to contribute to nearly 29% of deaths fromthese cancers,corresponding to 527,577 deaths.Conclusions:The overall trend in the combined total mortality from four major cancers is predicted to decline over the next decade;however,the corresponding death toll is expected to surge,in the context of China’s population aging and high smoking prevalence.These estimates provide data-driven evidence for China to implement effective cancer control measures in the future. | Ning Li Peng Wu Yubing Shen Cuihong Yang Luwen Zhang Yali Chen Zixing Wang Jingmei Jiang | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,5: | 4 |

| 14 | AtPEPTIDE RECEPTOR_2 mediates the AtPEPTIDE1‐induced cytosolic Ca^(2+) trise, which is required for the suppression of Glutamine Dumper gene expression in Arabidopsis roots显示文摘AtPEPTIDE RECEPTOR2(AtPEPR2) is a member of leucine‐rich repeat receptor‐like kinase family and binds to a group of AtPROPEP gene‐encoded endogenous peptides,AtPeps. Previously, we found that AtPEPR2 plays a moderate role in the AtPep1‐mediated innate immunity responses in Arabidopsis leaf. In this study, we found that AtPEPR2promoter has strong activity in the vascular tissues of the roots and the atpepr2 mutants showed a moderate but significantly shorter root phenotype. AtPEPR2 partially mediated AtPep1‐induced root elongation inhibition. AtPep1‐triggered cytosolic Ca2ttransient rise in roots showed partial dependence on AtPEPR2 and fully on extracellular Ca2t([Ca2t]ext). Transcriptional profiling analysis found that expression of 75% of AtPep1‐modulated genes in roots was fully dependent on AtPEPR2, of which two dramatically induced genes showed partial dependence on the [Ca2t]ext.Arabidopsis genome contains seven Glutamine Dumpers genes(AtGDUs), encoding amino acid exporters. Three of them(AtGDU2, 3, 5) were among the top 10 genes that were downregulated by AtPep1 through AtPEPR2 fully dependent pathway. Treatment with AtPep1 strongly suppressed promoter activity of AtGDU3 in roots, which was relieved by chelating [Ca2t]ext. Arabidopsis overexpressing AtGDU3showed a shorter root phenotype and decreased sensitivity to the AtPep1‐mediated inhibition of root elongation. | 15 | Effect of channel block on the collective spiking activity of coupled stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley neurons显示文摘Toxins, such as tetraethylammonium (TEA) and tetrodotoxin (TTX), can make potassium or sodium ion channels poisoned, respectively, and hence reduce the number of working ion channels and lead to the diminishment of conductance. In this paper, we have studied by numerical simulations the effects of sodium and potassium ion channel poisoning on the collective spiking activity of an array of coupled stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neurons. It is found for a given number of neurons sodium or potas- sium ion channel block can either enhance or reduce the collective spiking regularity, depending on the membrane patch size. For a given smaller or larger patch size, potassium and sodium ion channel block can reduce or enhance the collective spiking regularity, but they have different patch size ranges for the transformation. | 16 | Multiple resonances with time delays in scale-free networks of Hodgkin-Huxley neurons subjected to non-Gaussian noise显示文摘The spiking behavior with varying time delay in scale-free networks of Hodgkin-Huxley neurons with non-Gaussian noise has been studied,and the effect of non-Gaussian noise on the delay-induced spiking behavior is discussed. It was found that multiple spatio-temporal resonances occur when the delay lengths are integer multiples of the spiking periods,and the resonances may be strengthened when the non-Gaussian noise is appropriate. This result shows that time delays can optimize the spiking temporal regularity and spatial synchronization,and appropriate non-Gaussian noise may enhance the delay-induced spiking behaviors. | 18 | Application of non-equilibrium dendrite growth model considering thermo-kinetic correlation in twin-roll casting显示文摘Upon non-equilibrium solidifications, dendrite growth, generally as precursor of as-solidified structures,has severe effects on subsequent phase transformations. Considering synergy of thermodynamics and kinetics controlling interface migration and following conservation of heat flux in solid temperature field, a more flexible modeling for the dendrite growth is herein developed for multi-component alloys,where, two inherent problems, i.e. correlation between thermodynamics and kinetics(i.e. the thermokinetic correlation), and theoretical connection between dendrite growth model and practical processing,have been successfully solved. Accordingly, both the thermodynamic driving force G and the effective kinetic energy barrier Qeffhave been found to control quantitatively the dendrite growth(i.e. especially the growth velocity, V), as reflected by the thermo-kinetic trade-off. Compared with previous models, it is the thermo-kinetic correlation that guarantees quantitative connection between the practical processing parameters and the current theoretical framework, as well as more reasonable description for kinetic behaviors involved. | 19 | Progress in the Application of X Zeolite in Adsorption显示文摘The application of X zeolite in the areas for producing para-xylene by adsorptive separation, N_2/O_2 separation,etc., was reviewed, and the framework SiO_2/Al_2 O_3 molar ratio, the cations and the water content of X zeolite significantly affected its selectivity and capacity. As the active component of para-xylene adsorbent, the X zeolite with a framework SiO_2/Al_2 O_3 molar ratio of 2.2—2.4 coupled with cations of Ba^(2+) and K^+, as well as a water content of 4.0%—5.0% exhibited higher para-xylene selectivity. For N_2/O_2 separation, higher N_2 capacity and N_2/O_2 separation factor were achieved when the X zeolite had a framework SiO_2/Al_2 O_3 molar ratio of 2.0 coupled with Li^+ cations. The introduction of another cation in X zeolite could further increase the N_2/O_2 separation factor, while the adsorption of water, however, could lead to a remarkable decrease of N_2 capacity. | 20 | Chemical synaptic coupling-induced delay-dependent synchronization transitions in scale-free neuronal networks显示文摘Chemical synaptic couplings are more common than electric(gap junction) connections in neurons.In this paper,the firing synchronizations induced by chemical synaptic coupling in chemically delayed scale-free networks of modified Hodgkin-Huxley neurons have been studied.It was found that the chemical coupling-induced synchronization transitions are delay-dependent and much different for various delay lengths.In the absence of delay,the neurons exhibit a transition from chaotic bursting(CB) to bursting synchronization(BS) with desynchronized spikes in each burst;for smaller delay lengths,the firing evolves from CB to spiking synchronization(SS),but for larger delay lengths,there are transitions from CB to intermittently multiple SS behaviors.These findings show that the chemical coupling-induced firing synchronization transitions strongly depend on the chemical delay lengths,and intermittently multiple SS can only occur for larger delay lengths.This result would be helpful for better understanding the joint roles of the chemical coupling and chemical delay in the firing activity of the neurons. | GONG YuBing LIN Xiu WANG Li HAO YingHang | 2011 | Science China Chemistry2011,54,9: | 2 |
