| 2 | The application of large volume airgun sources to the onshore-offshore seismic surveys: implication of the experimental results in northern South China Sea显示文摘Onshore-offshore seismic experiments were carried out for the first time in northern South China Sea using large volume airgun sources at sea and seismic stations on land. The experimental results indicate that seismic signals from the new airgun array of R/V Shiyan 2 can be detected as far as 255 km. The signal effective area reaches nearly 50000 km2, which covers Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta. Compared with the old airgun array, the signal amplitude, propagation distance and effective area of the new airgun array have been increased notably, which demonstrates that the upgrade of the airgun source was successful. Comparisons with previous experimental results in other regions show that the shooting effect of the new airgun array is similar to those best airgun sources in the world. | 4 | Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. | 5 | Synthesis and Characterization of Condensed Polynuclear Aromatic Resin Derived from Ethylene Tar显示文摘As a kind of low-cost and readily available industrial byproduct, ethylene tar (ET) was for the first time utilized for the preparation of heat-resistant condensed polynuclear aromatic resin (COPNAR). The basic properties of ET and the resulted COPNAR were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, TGA and elemental analysis. The test results showed that ET with high aromatic content (>50%) was suitable for the synthesis of COPNAR with superior heat resistance. The average molecular structure of ET was obtained by means of the improved Brown-Ladner method, and the reaction mechanism was considered as an acid-catalyzed positive ion-typed polymerization. | 7 | Brominated dioxins and furans in a cement kiln co-processing municipal solid waste显示文摘A field study and theoretical calculations were performed to clarify the levels, profiles, and distributions of polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PBDD/Fs) in a cement kiln co-processing solid waste, with a focus on the PBDF formation mechanism.The raw materials contributed greatly to input of PBDD/Fs into the cement kiln. The PBDD/F concentrations in the raw materials were much higher than those in particle samples from different process stages in the cement kiln. The PBDD/F concentrations in the clinkers were1.40% of the concentrations in the raw materials, which indicated that the high destruction efficiencies for PBDD/Fs by cement kiln. PBDD/F distribution patterns in particle samples collected from different process stages indicated the cement kiln backend was a major site for PBDD/F formation. PBDFs with high levels of halogenation, such as heptabrominated furans(Hp BDF), were the dominant contributors to the total PBDD/F concentrations and accounted for 42%–73% of the total PBDD/F concentrations in the particle samples. Our results showed that co-processing of municipal solid waste in a cement kiln may influence the congener profile of PBDD/Fs, especially for the higher halogenated PBDD fraction. In addition, there were significant correlations between the decabromodiphenyl ether and heptabrominated furan concentrations, which is an indicator of transformation from polybrominated diphenyl ethers to PBDD/Fs. Theoretical calculations were performed and demonstrated that elimination of HBr and Br_2 from polybrominated diphenyl ethers were the dominant formation pathways for PBDD/Fs. | 8 | Source of ore-forming material for the Huangtuliang gold deposit,Hebei Province and ore prospecting in the deep periphery显示文摘The Huangtuliang gold deposit is characterized by its wide and large ore belt,stable extension and closely spaced orebodies.Unfortunately,no orebody was found by deep drilling.As a result,ore prospecting in this region was once put into dilemma.Detailed analysis of ore-forming and ore-controlling structures in the mining district by the authors has revealed that the ore-forming and ore-controlling structure in this mining district is a steeply dipping(85°-110°/∠70°-85° N-NNE),spade-shaped ductile shear zone,and the ore-controlling structures are a series of nearly erected second-ordered faults which are developed in the upper part of the ductile shear zone,intersecting with the ductile shear zone.Deep cutting of the ductile shear zone made it possible the ascending of ore fluids from the mantle plume at depth and these ore fluids would migrate upwards along the ductile shear zone under certain temperature and pressure conditions.Along their ascending path,the ore fluids would extract ore-forming elements from the country rocks and the extracted ore-forming elements would be deposited as ores in the hanging-wall second-ordered faults.The reason why no orebody was found in early prospecting at depth is that northward-dipping drilling in the southern part of the shear zone extended so deeply as to be beneath the shear zone.Only shallow-level orebodies could be found by southward-dipping drilling practice in the northern part of the shear zone.The location where deep-seated orebodies occurred shifted northwards and the orebodies occurred at greater depth.Therefore,it is natural that no orebody could be found when drill core passed through the shear zone.After the ore-forming and ore-controlling structures were well understood,the focus of ore prospecting was placed on the deep-level,northward-penetrating veins.In this way a number of new blind orebodies of great thickness have been found.On the basis of research development in the mining district,a prospecting plan has been made for ore prospecting in the periphery of eastern mining district.Prospecting practice has shown that there occur generally continuous engineering orebodies at large intervals.So,the Huangtuliang gold deposit has turned at one stroke from a medium sized to a large-sized,even a super-large gold deposit between prospecting lines 30-98. | NIU Shuyin SUN Aiqun WANG Baode HAN Yuchou WEI Minghui ZHANG Hai ZHANG Ge SHI Ping WANG Wenxing | 2008 | Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2008,27,3: | 4 |
