1Temperature variation of a thermionic cathode during electron emission显示文摘It is necessary to know the actual temperature of a thermionic cathode that works as the electron source in a microwave tube. It has been found that the temperature of the cathode drops markedly during the thermionic emission. For example, the temperature could fall by about 30oC under a current density of 2.92 A/cm2. Using the molecular thermodynamics, the dependence of the cathode temperature on the emission current density has been obtained. It has been theoretically pointed out that several factors, such as heating model and temperature coefficient of resis-tance of heater, can influence the cathode temperature. 2Genome-wide identification, expression analysis of auxin-responsive GH_3 family genes in maize(Zea mays L.) under abiotic stresses显示文摘Auxin is involved in different aspects of plant growth and development by regulating the expression of auxinresponsive family genes. As one of the three major auxinresponsive families, GH3(Gretchen Hagen3) genes participate in auxin homeostasis by catalyzing auxin conjugation and bounding free indole-3-acetic acid(IAA) to amino acids.However, how GH3 genes function in responses to abiotic stresses and various hormones in maize is largely unknown.Here, the latest updated maize(Zea mays L.) reference genome sequence was used to characterize and analyze the Zm GH3 family genes from maize. The results showed that 13 Zm GH3 genes were mapped on fi ve maize chromosomes(total10 chromosomes). Highly diversi fi ed gene structures and tissue-speci fi c expression patterns suggested the possibility of function diversi fi cation for these genes in response to environmental stresses and hormone stimuli. The expression patterns of Zm GH3 genes are responsive to several abiotic stresses(salt, drought and cadmium) and major stress-relatedhormones(abscisic acid, salicylic acid and jasmonic acid)Various environmental factors suppress auxin free IAA contents in maize roots suggesting that these abiotic stresses and hormones might alter GH3-mediated auxin levels. 3Spin-decoupled metasurface for simultaneous detection of spin and orbital angular momenta via momentum transformation显示文摘With inherent orthogonality,both the spin angular momentum(SAM)and orbital angular momentum(OAM)of photons have been utilized to expand the dimensions of quantum information,optical communications,and information processing,wherein simultaneous detection of SAMs and OAMs with a single element and a single-shot measurement is highly anticipated.Here,a single azimuthal-quadratic phase metasurface-based photonic momentum transformation(PMT)is illustrated and utilized for vortex recognition.Since different vortices are converted into focusing patterns with distinct azimuthal coordinates on a transverse plane through PMT,OAMs within a large mode space can be determined through a single-shot measurement.Moreover,spin-controlled dual-functional PMTs are proposed for simultaneous SAM and OAM sorting,which is implemented by a single spin-decoupled metasurface that merges both the geometric phase and dynamic phase.Interestingly,our proposed method can detect vectorial vortices with both phase and polarization singularities,as well as superimposed vortices with a certain interval step.Experimental results obtained at several wavelengths in the visible band exhibit good agreement with the numerical modeling.With the merits of ultracompact device size,simple optical configuration,and prominent vortex recognition ability,our approach may underpin the development of integrated and high-dimensional optical and quantum systems.Yinghui Guo Shicong Zhang Mingbo Pu Qiong He Jinjin Jin Mingfeng Xu Yaxin Zhang Ping Gao Xiangang Luo 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,4:14
4Crosstalk-free achromatic full Stokes imaging polarimetry metasurface enabled by polarization-dependent phase optimization显示文摘Imaging polarimetry is one of the most widely used analytical technologies for object detection and analysis.To date,most metasurface-based polarimetry techniques are severely limited by narrow operating bandwidths and inevitable crosstalk,leading to detrimental effects on imaging quality and measurement accuracy.Here,we propose a crosstalkfree broadband achromatic full Stokes imaging polarimeter consisting of polarization-sensitive dielectric metalenses,implemented by the principle of polarization-dependent phase optimization.Compared with the single-polarization optimization method,the average crosstalk has been reduced over three times under incident light with arbitrary polarization ranging from 9μm to 12μm,which guarantees the measurement of the polarization state more precisely.The experimental results indicate that the designed polarization-sensitive metalenses can effectively eliminate the chromatic aberration with polarization selectivity and negligible crosstalk.The measured average relative errors are 7.08%,8.62%,7.15%,and 7.59%at 9.3,9.6,10.3,and 10.6μm,respectively.Simultaneously,the broadband full polarization imaging capability of the device is also verified.This work is expected to have potential applications in wavefront detection,remote sensing,light-field imaging,and so forth.Yaxin Zhang Mingbo Pu Jinjin Jin Xinjian Lu Yinghui Guo Jixiang Cai Fei Zhang Yingli Ha Qiong He Mingfeng Xu Xiong Li Xiaoliang Ma Xiangang Luo 2022Opto-Electronic Advances2022,5,11:6
5Cooperation of PprI and DrRRA in response to extreme ionizing radiation in Deinococcus radiodurans显示文摘Deinococcus radiodurans possesses extreme resistance to ionizing radiation,and has been engineered for the remediation of toxic components in radioactive environments.We have previously shown that PprI(also named IrrE)and DrRRA are essential for the DNA protection and repair pathways that respond to ionizing radiation stress in this species.Here,we investigated the combined roles of PprI and DrRRA in resistance to gamma radiation(800 Gy).The double mutant,△drRRA△pprI,was more sensitive to gamma rays than either△drRRA or△pprI single mutants,and exhibited an elevated level of intracellular protein carbonylation,an extended delay in genome reconstitution and reduced transcriptional levels of certain DNA protection and repair proteins,such as kat,sod,recA and pprA.Interestingly,the induction of DrRRA by ionizing radiation was partially inhibited by the deletion of pprI. 6Discrimination of False Negative Results in RT-PCR Detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in Clinical Specimens by Using an Internal Reference显示文摘Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)is an essential method for specific diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Unfortunately,false negative test results are often reported.In this study,we attempted to determine the principal causes leading to false negative results of RT-PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in respiratory tract specimens.Multiple sputum and throat swab specimens from 161 confirmed COVID-19 patients were tested with a commercialfluorescent RT-PCR kit targeting the ORF1 ab and N regions of SARS-CoV-2 genome.The RNA level of a cellular housekeeping gene ribonuclease P/MRP subunit p30(RPP30)in these specimens was also assessed by RT-PCR.Data for a total of 1052 samples were retrospectively re-analyzed and a strong association between positive results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA tests and high level of RPP30 RNA in respiratory tract specimens was revealed.By using the ROC-AUC analysis,we identified Ct cutoff values for RPP30 RT-PCR which predicted false negative results for SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR with high sensitivity(95.03%–95.26%)and specificity(83.72%–98.55%)for respective combination of specimen type and ampli-fication reaction.Using these Ct cutoff values,false negative results could be reliably identified.Therefore,the presence of cellular materials,likely infected host cells,are essential for correct SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection by RT-PCR in patient specimens.RPP30 could serve as an indicator for cellular content,or a surrogate indicator for specimen quality.In addition,our results demonstrated that false negativity accounted for a vast majority of contradicting results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA test by RT-PCR.Yafei Zhang Changtai Wang Mingfeng Han Jun Ye Yong Gao Zhongping Liu Tengfei He Tuantuan Li Mengyuan Xu Luping Zhou Guizhou Zou Mengji Lu Zhenhua Zhang 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:5

8Static and Dynamic Leaching Experiments of Heavy Metals from Fly Ash-Based Geopolymers显示文摘The feasibility of high calcium fly ash(CFA)-based geopolymers to fix heavy metals were studied.The CFA-based geopolymers were prepared from CFA,flue gas desulfurization gypsum(FGDG),and water treatment residual(WTR).The static leaching showed that heavy metals concentrations from CFAbased geopolymers were lower than their maximum concentration limits according to the U.S.environmental protection law.And the encapsulated and fixed ratios of heavy metals by the CFA-based geopolymers were 96.02%-99.88%.The dynamic real-time leaching experiment showed that concentration of Pb(II) was less than 1.1 μg / L,Cr(VI) less than 3.25 mg / L,while Hg(II) less than 4.0 μg / L.Additionally,dynamic accumulated leaching concentrations were increased at the beginning of leaching process then kept stable.During the dynamic leaching process,heavy metals migrated and accumulated in an area near to the solid-solution interface.When small part of heavy metals in 'the accumulated area' breached through the threshold value of physical encapsulation and chemical fixation they migrated into solution.The dynamic leaching ratios and effective diffusion coefficients of heavy metals from CFA-based geopolymer were very low and the long-term security of heavy metals in CFA-based geopolymer was safe.郭晓潞 施惠生 XU Mingfeng 2013Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2013,28,5:5
9RNA Interference-based Suppression of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase Results in Susceptibility of Rapeseed to Osmotic Stress显示文摘The diverse functions of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase(PEPCase;EC 4.1.1.31) in C3 plants are not as well understood as in C4 plants.To investigate the functions of PEPCase in C3 plants,rapeseed(Brassica napus L.) 10Thermodynamics of strange quark matter with the density-dependent bag constant显示文摘The thermodynamics of strange quark matter with density dependent bag constant are studied self-consistently in the framework of the general ensemble theory and the MIT bag model.In our treatment,an additional term is found in the expression of pressure.With the additional term,the zero pressure locates exactly at the lowest energy state,indicating that our treatment is a self-consistently thermodynamic treatment.The self-consistent equations of state of strange quark matter in both the normal and color-flavor-locked phase are derived.They are both softer than the inconsistent ones.Strange stars in both the normal and color-flavor locked phase have smaller masses and radii in our treatment.It is also interesting to find that the energy density at a star surface in our treatment is much higher than that in the inconsistent treatment for both phases.Consequently,the surface properties and the corresponding observational properties of strange stars in our treatment are different from those in the inconsistent treatment.ZHU MingFeng LIU GuangZhou YU Zi XU Yan SONG WenTao 2009Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2009,52,10:3

12Tocilizumab in patients with moderate or severe COVID-19: a randomized, controlled, open-label, multicenter trial显示文摘Tocilizumab has been reported to attenuate the“cytokine storm”in COVID-19 patients.We attempted to verify the effectiveness and safety of tocilizumab therapy in COVID-19 and identify patients most likely to benefit from this treatment.We conducted a randomized,controlled,open-label multicenter trial among COVID-19 patients.The patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either tocilizumab in addition to standard care or standard care alone.The cure rate,changes of oxygen saturation and interference,and inflammation biomarkers were observed.Thirty-three patients were randomized to the tocilizumab group,and 32 patients to the control group.The cure rate in the tocilizumab group was higher than that in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(94.12%vs.87.10%,rate difference 95%CI−7.19%–21.23%,P=0.4133).The improvement in hypoxia for the tocilizumab group was higher from day 4 onward and statistically significant from day 12(P=0.0359).In moderate disease patients with bilateral pulmonary lesions,the hypoxia ameliorated earlier after tocilizumab treatment,and less patients(1/12,8.33%)needed an increase of inhaled oxygen concentration compared with the controls(4/6,66.67%;rate difference 95%CI−99.17%to−17.50%,P=0.0217).No severe adverse events occurred.More mild temporary adverse events were recorded in tocilizumab recipients(20/34,58.82%)than the controls(4/31,12.90%).Tocilizumab can improve hypoxia without unacceptable side effect profile and significant influences on the time virus load becomes negative.For patients with bilateral pulmonary lesions and elevated IL-6 levels,tocilizumab could be recommended to improve outcome.Dongsheng Wang Binqing Fu Zhen Peng Dongliang Yang Mingfeng Han Min Li Yun Yang Tianjun Yang Liangye Sun Wei Li Wei Shi Xin Yao Yan Ma Fei Xu Xiaojing Wang Jun Chen Daqing Xia Yubei Sun Lin Dong Jumei Wang Xiaoyu Zhu Min Zhang Yonggang Zhou Aijun Pan Xiaowen Hu Xiaodong Mei Haiming Wei Xiaoling Xu 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3:2
13Distribution of Asbestos Enterprises and Asbestosis Cases--China, 1997−2019显示文摘What is already known on this topic?Asbestos is classified as a Class I Carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer(IARC)because exposure causes mesothelioma and lung cancer in addition to asbestosis and plaques.So far,asbestos has been banned in 67 countries,but chrysotile,a commonly encountered form of asbestos,is still widely used in China and most developing countries.Most asbestos-caused cancers are not reported,recorded,and compensated in many countries.What is added by this report?Enterprises manufacturing asbestos products have been migrating from economically developed Eastern China to relatively underdeveloped central and western regions between 2010 and 2019.Asbestosis cases reported in Tianjin,Beijing,Shandong,Xinjiang,Gansu,Qinghai,and Sichuan accounted for a large proportion of the total cases in China,which was inconsistent with the distribution of asbestos-related enterprises(AREs).The reported asbestosis cases versus total pneumoconiosis cases declined from 2.81%to 0.39%from 2006–2017,and this proportion reached 0.69%in 2018.What are the implications for public health practice?Robust occupational and environmental health assessments and reporting are needed to define the epidemiology of asbestos-related lung diseases,and management of using asbestos and existing products containing asbestos need strengthening and follow-up.Enterprises should be encouraged to use safer substitutes and gradually ban asbestos materials in China.Mingfeng Chen Huanqiang Wang Jianfang Zhang Chen Yu Weidong Liu Yunhao Xu 2020China CDC weekly2020,2,18:2

17Biomass Catalytic Pyrolysis with Ni Based Catalyst to Produce Hydrogen Rich Gas显示文摘Hydrogen rich gas was produced using rice husk as biomass material on the continuous biomass pyrolysis apparatus which consisted of continuous pyrolysis reactor and secondary catalytic cracking reactor. Ni based catalysts of different Ni/Al mass ratio and calcined temperature were prepared by impregnating method. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scan electron microscope (SEM) and FT-IR Spectrometer (FT-IR). Ni based catalyst showed good selectivity for H2 production from biomass. Catalysts prepared under different conditions had little influence on the yields of three states products when used at the same cracking temperature. Ni/Al mass ratio played an important role in products selectivity. However, the content of NiO increased further when Ni/Al mass ratio values reached 0.7 : 10, and the yield of H2 slightly increased. Hydrogen yield was greatly impacted by calcined temperature. Catalyst calcined at 550℃ performed best. When the catalyst was calcined at high temperature, NiO in the catalyst transformed into NiAl2O4, and the acid site also changed, which caused the deactivation of the catalyst. The hydrogen yield increased with the cracking temperature.
