3Heavy Metal Transfer from Soil to Vegetable in Southern Jiangsu Province, China显示文摘Vegetable fields in peri-urban areas receive large amounts of extraneous heavy metals because of rapid urbanization and industrialization in China. The concentrations of Cu, Zn, and Pb in 30 soil samples and 32 vegetable samples, collected from 30 different sites in southern Jiangsu Province of China, were measured and their transfer from soil to vegetable was determined. The results showed that the soil samples had wide ranges of pH (4.25–7.85) and electrical conductivity (EC) (0.24–3.42 dS m-1). Among the soil samples, there were four soil samples containing higher Cu and two soil samples containing higher Zn concentrations than those specified in the Chinese Soil Environmental Quality Standard II. However, no vegetable sample was found to contain a high level of Cu or Zn. In contrast, one vegetable sample contained 0.243 mg Pb kg-1 FW, which was above the Chinese Food Hygiene Standard, whereas the corresponding soil Pb concentration was lower than the Chinese Soil Environmental Quality Standard II. The transfer coefficients of Cu of all vegetable samples exceeded the suggested coefficient range, implying that extraneous Cu had high mobility and bioavailability to vegetables. There was no significant correlation between extractable soil heavy metal concentrations with four kinds of extractants and soil pH, EC, heavy metal concentrations in vegetables and soils, except that soil pH correlated well with the extractable soil Cu, Zn, and Pb concentrations with 1.0 mol L-1 NH4NO3. 4Expression,deleton and mnutation of ρ16 gene in human gastric cancer显示文摘AIM To investigate the relationship between the expression of p16 gene and the gastric carcinogenesis,depth of invasion and lymph node metastases, and to evaluate the deletion and mutation of exon 2 in p16 gene in gastric carcinoma.METHODS The expression of P16 protein was examined by streptavidin-peroxidase conjugated method (S-P); the deletion and mutation of p16 gene were respectively examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and polymerase chain reaction single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis (PCR-SSCP) in gastric carcinoma.RESULTS Expression of P16 protein was detected in 96.25% (77/80) of the normal gastric mucosa, in 92.00% (45/50) of the dysplastic gastric mucosa and in 47.54% (58/122) of the gastric carcinoma. The positive rate of P16 protein expression in gastric carcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal gastric mucosa and dysplastic gastric mucosa (P<0.05). The positive rate of P16 protein expression in mucoid carcinoma 10.00% (1/ 10) was significantly lower than that in poorly differentiated carcinoma 51.22% ( 21/ 41 ),undifferentiated carcinoma 57.69% (15/26) and signet ring cell carcinoma 62.50% (10/ 16) (P<0.05). The positive rate of p16 protein in 30 cases paired primary and lymph node metastatic gastric carcinoma: There was 46.67% (14/30) in primary gastric carcinoma, 16.67% (5/30) in lymph node metastatic gastric carcinoma. The positive rate of lymph node metastatic carcinoma was significantly lower than that of primary carcinoma (P<0.05). There was of p16 gene mutation in exon 2, but 5 cases displayed deletion of p16 gene in exon 2 in the 25 primary gastric carcinomas.CONCLUSIONS The expression loss of P16 protein related to the gastric carcinogenesis, gastric carcinoma histopathological subtypes and lymph metastasis. The mutation of p16 gene in exon 2 may not be involved in gastric carcinogenesis. 5Geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of Indosinian granitoids from the Bikou block,northwest of the Yangtze plate:Constraints on petrogenesis,nature of deep crust and geodynamics显示文摘This paper reports geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of the Indosinian Yangba (215 Ma),Nanyili (225 Ma) and Mopi granitoids from the Bikou block of the northwestern margin of the Yangtze plate. These granitoids are enriched in Al (Al2O3:14.56%―16.48%) and Sr (352 μg/g―1047 μg/g),and depleted in Y (<16 μg/g) and HREE (e.g. Yb<1.61 μg/g),resulting in high Sr/Y (36.3―150) and (La/Yb)N (7.8―36.3) ratios and strongly fractionationed REE patterns. The Indosinian granotoids show initial Sr isotopic ratios (ISr) from 0.70419 to 70752,εNd(t) values from-3.1 to -8.5,and initial Pb isotopic ratios 206Pb/204Pb=17.891-18.250,207Pb/204Pb=15.494-15.575,and 208Pb/204Pb=37.788-38.335. Their geochemi-cal signatures indicate that the granitoids are adakitic. However,they are distinct from some adakites,generated by partial melting of subducted oceanic slab and/or underplated basaltic lower crust,be-cause they have high K (K2O: 1.49%―3.84%) and evolved Nd isotopic compositions,with older Nd iso-topic model ages (TDM=1.06―1.83 Ga). Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions suggest that the magmas of the Insoninian adakitic rocks in the Bikou block were derived from partial melting of thick-ened basaltic lower crust. Combined with regional analyses,a lithospheric delamination model after collision between the North China and South China plates can account for the Indosinian adakitic magma generation. On the other hand,based on the Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic probing to the magma sources of the adakitic rocks,it is suggested that there is an unexposed continent-type basement under the exposed Bikou Group volcanic rocks. 6Antimony speciation in the environment:Recent advances in understanding the biogeochemical processes and ecological effects显示文摘Antimony(Sb) is a toxic metalloid, and its pollution has become a global environmental problem as a result of its extensive use and corresponding Sb-mining activities. The toxicity and mobility of Sb strongly depend on its chemical speciation. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on the biogeochemical processes(including emission, distribution,speciation, redox, metabolism and toxicity) that trigger the mobilization and transformation of Sb from pollution sources to the surrounding environment. Natural phenomena such as weathering, biological activity and volcanic activity, together with anthropogenic inputs, are responsible for the emission of Sb into the environment. Sb emitted in the environment can adsorb and undergo redox reactions on organic or inorganic environmental media, thus changing its existing form and exerting toxic effects on the ecosystem. 9Fecal microbiota transplantation cured epilepsy in a case with Crohn's disease: The first report显示文摘Fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)is a promising strategy that involves reconstruction of gut microbiota.Recently,it has been considered as a treatment of Crohn’s disease(CD)and certain neurological diseases.Here,to the best of our knowledge,we report the first case that used FMT to achieve remission of intestinal and neurological symptoms in a girl with CD and a 17-year history of epilepsy.During the 20 mo of follow-up,FMT has proved its efficacy in preventing relapse of seizures after withdrawing the antiepileptic drugs.Furthermore,this finding highlights the role of microbiota-gut-brain axis and inspires a novel treatment for epilepsy through remodeling gut microbiota.Zhi He Bo-Ta Cui Ting Zhang Pan Li Chu-Yan Long Guo-Zhong Ji Fa-Ming Zhang 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,19:37
10Screening test for anti-Helicobacter pylori activity of traditional Chinese herbal medicines显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the anti-Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) activity of 50 traditional Chinese herbal medicines in order to provide the primary evidence for their use in clinical practice.METHODS:A susceptibility test of water extract from 50 selected traditional Chinese herbal medicines for in vitro H.pylori Sydney strain 1 was performed with broth dilution method.Anti-H.pylori activity of the selected Chinese herbal medicines was evaluated according to their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).RESULTS:The water extract from Rhizoma Coptidis,Radix Scutellariae and Radix isatidis could significantly inhibit the H.pylori activity with their MIC less than 7.8 mg/mL,suggesting that traditional Chinese herbal medicines have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects and can thus be used in treatment of H.pylori infection.CONCLUSION:Rhizoma Coptidis,Radix Scutellariae and Radix isatidis are the potential sources for the synthesis of new drugs against H.pylori.Feng Ma Ye Chen Jing Li He-Ping Qing Ji-De Wang YaLi Zhang Yang Bai Bei-Guo Long 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,44:34

14Rural vitalization in China:A perspective of land consolidation显示文摘The core objective of rural vitalization is to systemically establish a coupling pattern of various rural development elements including population,land and industry.As one of the prerequisites,land resources is required to be optimally allocated via land consolidation.Con seque ntly,la nd con solidati on con tributes greatly to population agglomeration,industrial developme nt and resources support under the con text of combati ng rural decline.Based on the key eleme nts affecting rural development,this paper elaborates the con no tation of rural vitalization and land consolidation in the new era as well as their relationships.Furthermore,the paper analyzes the alternative paths for achieving rural vitalization via land consolidation,and discusses the future directions of land consolidation and rural vitalization.The conclusions are drawn as follows:(1)To cope with the loss and decline of the intrinsic elements in rural areas,rural vitalization is a development strategy aimed at realizing economic,political,cultural and ecological rejuvenation in rural area by reshaping socio?economic morphology and spatial pattern in rural territory.(2)From the perspective of rural vitalization,land consolidation is endowed with new connotation,which should not only target at activating the key elements of rural development,but also place emphasis on coordimating material space and spirit core as well as integrating the restructuring of the physical space and the rural gov?ernance system.(3)Land consolidation should be compatible with regional natural conditions and the current stage of socio-economic development.According to the principle of regional planning and classification strategy,the appropriate models and paths should be adopted to promote the benign interactions of population,land and industry based on engineering techniques and ecological means.(4)Under the background of national strategy of rural vitaliza?tion,it is n ecessary to reshape the value orientati on of la nd con solidation based on a scie tific understanding of urban-rural relations and rural territorial functions,coordinate land consolidation planning and rural vitalization planning under the unified spatial planning system,and explore the new model combining land consolidation and multifunctional agriculture.LONG Hualou ZHANG Yingnan TU Shuangshuang 2019Journal of Geographical Sciences2019,29,4:33
15Dual gRNAs guided CRISPR/Cas9 system inhibits hepatitis B virus replication显示文摘AIM: To screen and investigate the effective g RNAs against hepatitis B virus(HBV) of genotypes A-D.METHODS: A total of 15 g RNAs against HBV of genotypes A-D were designed. Eleven combinations of two above g RNAs(dual-g RNAs) covering the regulatory region of HBV were chosen. The efficiency of each g RNA and 11 dual-g RNAs on the suppression of HBV(genotypes A-D) replication was examined by the measurement of HBV surface antigen(HBs Ag) or e antigen(HBe Ag) in the culture supernatant. The destruction of HBV-expressing vector was examined in Hu H7 cells co-transfected with dual-g RNAs and HBVexpressing vector using polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and sequencing method, and the destruction of ccc DNAwas examined in Hep AD38 cells using KCl precipitation, plasmid-safe ATP-dependent DNase(PSAD) digestion, rolling circle amplification and quantitative PCR combined method. The cytotoxicity of these g RNAs was assessed by a mitochondrial tetrazolium assay.RESULTS: All of g RNAs could significantly reduce HBs Ag or HBe Ag production in the culture supernatant, which was dependent on the region in which g RNA against. All of dual g RNAs could efficiently suppress HBs Ag and/or HBe Ag production for HBV of genotypes A-D, and the efficacy of dual g RNAs in suppressing HBs Ag and/or HBe Ag production was significantly increased when compared to the single g RNA used alone. Furthermore, by PCR direct sequencing we confirmed that these dual g RNAs could specifically destroy HBV expressing template by removing the fragment between the cleavage sites of the two used g RNAs. Most importantly, g RNA-5 and g RNA-12 combination not only could efficiently suppressing HBs Ag and/or HBe Ag production, but also destroy the ccc DNA reservoirs in Hep AD38 cells.CONCLUSION: These results suggested that CRISPR/Cas9 system could efficiently destroy HBV expressing templates(genotypes A-D) without apparent cytotoxicity. 17Chemical composition and in vitro fermentation characteristics of high sugar forage sorghum as an alternative to forage maize for silage making in Tarim Basin, China显示文摘The chemical composition, mineral profile and in vitro fermentation characteristics of maize(MZ), high sugar forage sorghum(HS) and forage sorghum(FS), and silages made from each forage type were measured. The MZ and MZ silage(MZS) had higher crude protein, starch and ether extract contents than both sorghum forages and sorghum silages. HS had higher ash and water-soluble carbohydrate concentrations than FS and MZ. MZ, MZS, HS and HS silage(HSS) had lower neutral detergent fibre, acid detergent fibre and acid detergent lignin than FS and FS silage(FSS). FSS had higher dry matter(DM) and p H than MZS and HSS. HSS contained higher concentrations of P and K than FSS and MZS. MZS and HSS had higher in vitro dry matter and organic matter digestibility, CH4 production, total volatile fatty acids, acetate and propionate than FSS. p H was higher for FSS than for HSS, and ammonia was lower for HSS than for MZS and FSS. HSS had higher gas production than MZS and FSS after 2, 4, 6 and 8 h incubation. MZS had higher gas production than HSS and FSS after 26 and 28 h of incubation. The results indicate that HS may substitute for MZ to make good quality silage. 20Three-field vs two-field lymph node dissection for esophageal cancer:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To assess the effects of 3-field lymphadenectomy for esophageal carcinoma.METHODS:We conducted a computerized literature search of the Pub Med,Cochrane Controlled Trials Register,and EMBASE databases from their inception to present.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)or observational epidemiological studies(cohort studies)that compared the survival rates and/or postoperative complications between 2-field lymphadenectomy(2FL)and3-field lymphadenectomy(3FL)for esophageal carcinoma with R0 resection were included.Meta-analysis was conducted using published data on 3FL vs 2FL in esophageal carcinoma patients.End points were 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates and postoperativecomplications,including recurrent nerve palsy,anastomosis leak,pulmonary complications,and chylothorax.Subgroup analysis was performed on the involvement of recurrent laryngeal lymph nodes.RESULTS:Two RCTs and 18 observational studies with over 7000 patients were included.There was a clear benefit for 3FL in the 1-(RR=1.16;95%CI:1.09-1.24;P<0.01),3-(RR=1.44;95%CI:1.19-1.75;P<0.01),and 5-year overall survival rates(RR=1.37;95%CI:1.18-1.59;P<0.01).For postoperative complications,3FL was associated with significantly more recurrent nerve palsy(RR=1.43;95%CI:1.28-1.60;P=0.02)and anastomosis leak(RR=1.26;95%CI:1.05-1.52;P=0.09).In contrast,there was no significant difference for pulmonary complications(RR=0.93;95%CI:0.75-1.16,random-effects model;P=0.27)or chylothorax(RR=0.77;95%CI:0.32-1.85;P=0.69).CONCLUSION:This meta-analysis shows that 3FL improves overall survival rate but has more complications.Because of the high heterogeneity among outcomes,definite conclusions are difficult to draw.Guo-Wei Ma Dong-Rong Situ Qi-Long Ma Hao Long Lan-Jun Zhang Peng Lin Tie-Hua Rong 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:25
