1Nosocomial infections:Epidemiology,prevention,control and surveillance显示文摘Nosocomial infections or healthcare associated infections occur in patients under medical care.These infections occur worldwide both in developed and developing countries.Nosocomial infections accounts for 7% in developed and 10% in developing countries.As these infections occur during hospital stay,they cause prolonged stay,disability,and economic burden.Frequently prevalent infections include central line-associated bloodstream infections,catheter-associated urinary tract infections,surgical site infections and ventilator-associated pneumonia.Nosocomial pathogens include bacteria,viruses and fungal parasites.According to WHO estimates,approximately 15% of all hospitalized patients suffer from these infections.During hospitalization,patient is exposed to pathogens through different sources environment,healthcare staff,and other infected patients.Transmission of these infections should be restricted for prevention.Hospital waste serves as potential source of pathogens and about 20%–25% of hospital waste is termed as hazardous.Nosocomial infections can be controlled by practicing infection control programs,keep check on antimicrobial use and its resistance,adopting antibiotic control policy.Efficient surveillance system can play its part at national and international level.Efforts are required by all stakeholders to prevent and control nosocomial infections.Hassan Ahmed Khan Fatima Kanwal Baig Riffat Mehboob 2017Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2017,7,5:22
2Colorectal cancer carcinogenesis:a review of mechanisms显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the second most common cancer in women and the third most common in men globally. CRC arises from one or a combination of chromosomal instability, Cp G island methylator phenotype, and microsatellite instability. Genetic instability is usually caused by aneuploidy and loss of heterozygosity. Mutations in the tumor suppressor or cell cycle genes may also lead to cellular transformation. Similarly, epigenetic and/or genetic alterations resulting in impaired cellular pathways, such as DNA repair mechanism, may lead to microsatellite instability and mutator phenotype. Non-coding RNAs, more importantly micro RNAs and long non-coding RNAs have also been implicated at various CRC stages. Understanding the specific mechanisms of tumorigenesis and the underlying genetic and epigenetic traits is critical in comprehending the disease phenotype. 3Plant-derived anticancer agents: A green anticancer approach显示文摘Cancer is a frightful disease and represents one of the biggest health-care issues for the human race and demands a proactive strategy for cure. Plants are reservoirs for novel chemical entities and provide a promising line for research on cancer. Hitherto, being effective, chemotherapy is accompanied by certain unbearable side effects. Nevertheless,plants and plant derived products is a revolutionizing field as these are Simple, safer, ecofriendly, low-cost, fast, and less toxic as compared with conventional treatment methods.Phytochemicals are selective in their functions and acts specifically on tumor cells without affecting normal cells. Carcinogenesis is complex phenomena that involves many signaling cascades. Phytochemicals are considered suitable candidates for anticancer drug development due to their pleiotropic actions on target events with multiple manners. The research is in progress for developing potential candidates(those can block or slow down the growth of cancer cells without any side effects) from these phytochemicals. Many phytochemicals and their derived analogs have been identified as potential candidates for anticancer therapy. Effort has been made through this comprehensive review to highlight the recent developments and milestones achieved in cancer therapies using phytomolecules with their mechanism of action on nuclear and cellular factors. 6One-to-many optical information encryption transmission method based on temporal ghost imaging and code division multiple access显示文摘A method is presented for one-to-many information encryption transmission by using temporal ghost imaging and code division multiple access.In the encryption transmission process,code division multiple access technologies combine multiple information sources,and the chip sequence corresponding to each set of information is used as the first key.The transmission end loads the transmission information onto a series of temporal random patterns of temporal ghost imaging and transmits it to the receivers.A series of temporal random patterns is the second key.During the decryption,each receiver can get the same encrypted information and use the second key to obtain the transmitted information.Finally,each receiver uses the unique chip sequence to get corresponding information.This encryption transmission method realizes one-to-many information encryption transmission at the same time over the same channel.Double encryption ensures the security of information.Simulation and experiment results verify the effectiveness and security of the method.The method has strong antinoise ability and can effectively resist various attack modes.At the same time,this method solves the problem that the use of code division multiple access enlarges the signal bandwidth,and ensures that no cross talk occurs between various sources of information.YI KANG LEIHONG ZHANG HUALONG YE MANTONG ZHAO SAIMA KANWAL CHUNYAN BAI DAWEI ZHANG 2019Photonics Research2019,7,12:4
7Degradation of poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) by Stenotrophomonas sp. YCJ1 isolated from farmland soil显示文摘In recent years, poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT) has been widely used. However, PBAT-degrading bacteria have rarely been reported. PBAT-degrading bacteria were isolated from farmland soil and identified. The effects of growth factors on the degradation of PBAT and the lipase activity of PBAT-degrading bacteria were assessed. The degradation mechanism was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, Xray diffraction, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that Stenotrophomonas sp. YCJ1 had a significant degrading effect on PBAT. Under certain conditions, the strain could secrete 10.53 U/m L of lipase activity and degrade 10.14 wt.% of PBAT films. The strain secreted lipase to catalyze the degradation of the ester bonds in PBAT, resulting in the production of degradation products such as terephthalic acid, 1,4-butanediol, and adipic acid. 8Role of dietary phytochemicals in modulation of miRNA expression:Natural swords combating breast cancer显示文摘The National Cancer Institute had projected breast cancer(BC) as one of the topmost prevalent malignancies around the globe.In many cases,BC becomes resistant to chemotherapy,radiation and hormonal therapies.Traditional BC therapies are associated with adverse side effects,drug resistance and recurrence.Extensive research work has shown that these dietary phytochemicals(DPs) may exert therapeutic effects by regulating the miRNA expression.A large number of DPs have been researched as miRNA regulatory agents against BC and some other DPs have not yet been tested against BC.We have discussed the effects of curcumin,diallyl disulphide,3,3′ diindolylmethane,ellagic acid,genistein,indole-3-carbinol,quercetin,resveratrol,and sulforaphane on regulation of expression of BC miRNAs in a wide range of in vitro and in vivo models.We have also shown some of the possible DPs(Oleanolic acid,capsaicin,benzyl isothiocyanate,epigallocatechin gallate,phenethyl isothiocyanate and ursolic acid) that have shown miRNA regulatory activities and have not yet been tested against BC miRNAs.Finally,current limitations,challenges,future perspectives of DPs and BC research are also critically discussed.Banzeer Ahsan Abbasi Javed Iqbal Tariq Mahmood Ali Talha Khalil Barkat Ali Sobia Kanwal Sayed Afzal Shah Riaz Ahmad 2018Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2018,11,9:3
9Design of a hybrid magnetomotive force electromechanical valve actuator显示文摘We propose a novel axis-symmetric modified hybrid permanent magnet(PM)/electromagnet(EM) magnetomotive force actuator for a variable valve timing camless engine. The design provides a large magnetic force with low energy consumption, low coil inductance, PM demagnetization isolation, and improved transient response. Simulation and experimental results confirm forces of about 200 N(in the presence of coil current) at the equilibrium position and 500 N(in the absence of coil current) at the armature seat. We compared our proposed design with a double solenoid valve actuator(DSVA). 11Bug Prioritization to Facilitate Bug Report Triage显示文摘The large number of new bug reports received in bug repositories of software systems makes their management a challenging task.Handling these reports manually is time consuming,and often results in delaying the resolution of important bugs.To address this issue,a recommender may be developed which automatically prioritizes the new bug reports.In this paper,we propose and evaluate a classification based approach to build such a recommender.We use the Na¨ ve Bayes and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers,and present a comparison to evaluate which classifier performs better in terms of accuracy.Since a bug report contains both categorical and text features,another evaluation we perform is to determine the combination of features that better determines the priority of a bug.To evaluate the bug priority recommender,we use precision and recall measures and also propose two new measures,Nearest False Negatives (NFN) and Nearest False Positives (NFP),which provide insight into the results produced by precision and recall.Our findings are that the results of SVM are better than the Na¨ ve Bayes algorithm for text features,whereas for categorical features,Na¨ ve Bayes performance is better than SVM.The highest accuracy is achieved with SVM when categorical and text features are combined for training.Jaweria Kanwal Onaiza Maqbool 2012Journal of Computer Science & Technology2012,27,2:3

16Polarization-independent highly efficient generation of Airy optical beams with dielectric metasurfaces显示文摘Airy optical beams have emerged to hold enormous theoretical and experimental research interest due to their outstanding characteristics.Conventional approaches suffer from bulky and costly systems,as well as poor phase discretization.The newly developed metasurface-based Airy beam generators have constraints of polarization dependence or limited generation efficiency.Here,we experimentally demonstrate a polarization-independent silicon dielectric metasurface for generation of high-efficiency Airy optical beams.In our implementation,rather than synchronous manipulation of the amplitude and phase by plasmonic or Huygens’metasurfaces,we employ and impose a 3/2 phase-only manipulation to the dielectric metasurface,consisting of an array of silicon nanopillars with an optimized transmission efficiency as high as 97%.The resultant Airy optical beams possess extraordinarily large deflection angles and relatively narrow beam widths.Our validated scheme will open up a fascinating doorway to broaden the application scenarios of Airy optical beams on ultracompact photonic platforms.Binbin Yu Jing Wen Lei Chen Leihong Zhang Yulong Fan Bo Dai Saima Kanwal Dangyuan Lei Dawei Zhang 2020Photonics Research2020,8,7:2
