7Physics and astrophysics of strong magnetic field systems with eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the science potential of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for studies of strongly magnetized objects. We will focus on the physics and astrophysics of strongly magnetized objects, namely magnetars, accreting X-ray pulsars, and rotation powered pulsars. We also discuss the science potential of eXTP for QED studies. 17Metal to insulator transition for conducting polymers in plasmonic nanogaps显示文摘Conjugated polymers are promising material candidates for many future applications in flexible displays, organic circuits, and sensors. Their performance is strongly affected by their structural conformation including both electrical and optical anisotropy. Particularly for thin layers or close to crucial interfaces, there are few methods to track their organization and functional behaviors. Here we present a platform based on plasmonic nanogaps that can assess the chemical structure and orientation of conjugated polymers down to sub-10 nm thickness using light. We focus on a representative conjugated polymer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), of varying thickness (2-20 nm) while it undergoes redox in situ. This allows dynamic switching of the plasmonic gap spacer through a metal-insulator transition. Both dark-field (DF) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra track the optical anisotropy and orientation of polymer chains close to a metallic interface. 18Comparative study on various dielectric barriers and their effect on breakdown voltage显示文摘Non-pressurised air is extensively used as basic insulation medium in high-voltage equipment.Unfortunately,an inherent property of air-insulated design is that the system tends to become physically large.On the other hand,the application of dielectric barriers can increase the breakdown voltage and therefore decrease the size of the equipment.In this study,the impact of dielectric barriers on breakdown voltage enhancement is investigated under both direct current(dc)and alternating current(ac)applied voltages.For this purpose,three kinds of dielectric barriers in two different high-voltage electrode structures are investigated.In the first structure,several experiments are carried out with four different electrode arrangements,keeping the inter-electrode gap constant while varying the position of the dielectric barrier between the electrodes.In the second structure,the inter-electrode gap is varied while the high-voltage electrode is covered with dielectric materials.The influences of different parameters such as inter-electrode spacing,electric field non-uniformity factor,and dielectric materials on the breakdown voltage are investigated for applied 50 Hz ac and dc voltages.In addition,a simulation model to approximately calculate the breakdown voltage is proposed and validated with the experimental results.Elham Foruzan Amir A.S.Akmal Kaveh Niayesh Jeremy Lin Desh Deepak Sharma 2018High Voltage2018,3,1:0
