| 1 | Duodenal duplication cyst causing severe pancreatitis:Imaging findings and pathological correlation显示文摘We here report a case of a 18-year-old man with a history of recurrent abdominal pain and a previous episode of severe acute pancreatitis. Abdominal ultrasonography, contrast enhanced multislice computer tomography, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a cystic mass lesion. Only on delayed phase magnetic resonance images after GadoliniumBOPTA injection, it was possible to demonstrate the lesion's relationship with the biliary tree, differentiating the lesion from intraluminal duodenal diverticulum, and to achieve the diagnosis of duodenal duplication cyst, a recognized rare cause of acute pancreatitis. | 2 | High-resolution ex vivo analysis of the degradation and osseointegration of Mg-xGd implant screws in 3D显示文摘Biodegradable magnesium(Mg)alloys can revolutionize osteosynthesis,because they have mechanical properties similar to those of the bone,and degrade over time,avoiding the need of removal surgery.However,they are not yet routinely applied because their degradation behavior is not fully understood.In this study we have investigated and quantified the degradation and osseointegration behavior of two biodegradable Mg alloys based on gadolinium(Gd)at high resolution.Mg-5Gd and Mg-10Gd screws were inserted in rat tibia for 4,8 and 12 weeks.Afterward,the degradation rate and degradation homogeneity,as well as bone-to-implant interface,were studied with synchrotron radiation micro computed tomography and histology.Titanium(Ti)and polyether ether ketone(PEEK)were used as controls material to evaluate osseointegration.Our results showed that Mg-5Gd degraded faster and less homogeneously than Mg-10Gd.Both alloys gradually form a stable degradation layer at the interface and were surrounded by new bone tissue.The results were correlated to in vitro data obtained from the same material and shape.The average bone-to-implant contact of the Mg-xGd implants was comparable to that of Ti and higher than for PEEK.The results suggest that both Mg-xGd alloys are suitable as materials for bone implants. | Diana Krüger Silvia Galli Berit Zeller-Plumhoff D.C.Florian Wieland Niccolo Peruzzi Bjorn Wiese Philipp Heuser Julian Moosmann Ann Wennerberg Regine Willumeit-Romer | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,7: | 2 |

| 5 | What makes turnips:anatomy,physiology and transcriptome during early stages of its hypocotyl-tuber development显示文摘Brassica species are characterized by their tremendous intraspecific diversity,exemplified by leafy vegetables,oilseeds,and crops with enlarged inflorescences or above ground storage organs.In contrast to potato tubers that are edible storage organs storing energy as starch and are the vegetative propagation modules,the storage organs of turnips,grown from true seed,are swollen hypocotyls with varying degrees of root and stem that mainly store glucose and fructose.To highlight their anatomical origin,we use the term“hypocotyl-tuber”for these turnip vegetative storage organs.We combined cytological,physiological,genetic and transcriptomic approaches,aiming to identify the initial stages,molecular pathways and regulatory genes for hypocotyl-tuber induction in turnips(B.rapa subsp.rapa).We first studied the development of the hypocotyl zone of turnip and Pak choi and found that 16 days after sowing(DAS)morphological changes occurred in the xylem which indicated the early tuberization stage.Tissue culture experiments showed a clear effect of auxin on hypocotyl-tuber growth.Differentially expressed genes between 1 and 6 weeks after sowing in turnip hypocotyls,located in genomic regions involved in tuber initiation and/or tuber growth defined by QTL and selective sweeps for tuber formation,were identified as candidate genes that were studied in more detail for their role in hypocotyl-tuber formation.This included a Bra-FLOR1 paralogue with increased expression 16 DAS,when the hypocotyl starts swelling,suggesting dual roles for duplicated flowering time genes in flowering and hypocotyltuber induction.Bra-CYP735A2 was identified for its possible role in tuber growth via trans-zeatin.Weigthed Coexpression Network Analysis(WGCNA)identified 59 modules of co-expressed genes.Bra-FLOR1 and Bra-CYP735A2 were grouped in a module that included several genes involved in carbohydrate transport and metabolism,cell-wall growth,auxin regulation and secondary metabolism that serve as starting points to illuminate the transcriptional regulation of hypocotyl-tuber formation and development. | Mengyang Liu Niccolo Bassetti Stefan Petrasch Ningwen Zhang Johan Bucher Shuxing Shen Jianjun Zhao Guusje Bonnema | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 1 |
| 6 | Tissue microarray-chip featuring computerized immunophenotypical characterization more accurately subtypes ampullary adenocarcinoma than routine histology显示文摘BACKGROUND Ampullary adenocarcinomas(AACs)are heterogeneous tumors currently classified into three important sub-classes(SC):Intestinal(INT),Pancreato-Biliary(PB)and Mixed-Type(MT).The different subgroups have similar clinical presentation and are treated by pancreatoduodenectomy with curative intent.However,they respond differently to chemotherapy and have different prognostic outcomes.The SC are often difficult to identify with conventional histology alone.The clinical outcome of all three remains unclear,particularly for MT.AIM To identify two main subtypes of AACs,using an immunohistochemical(IHC)score based on CDX2,CK7 and CK20.METHODS Tissue samples from 21 patients who had undergone resection of AAC were classified by HE histology and IHC expression of CDX2,CK7 and CK 20.An IHC score was obtained for each marker by counting the number of positive cells(0=no stained cells;1<25%;2<50%and 3>50%)and their intensity(1=weak;2=moderate and 3=strong).A global score(GS)was then obtained by summation of the IHC scores of each marker.The MT tumors were grouped either with the INT or PB group based on the predominant immuno-molecular phenotype,obtaining only two AACs subtypes.The overall survival in INT and PB patients was obtained by Kaplan-Meier methods.RESULTS Histological parameters defined the AACs subtypes as follows:15%INT,45%PB and 40%MT.Using IHC expression and the GS,75%and 25%of MT samples were assigned to either the INT or the PB group.The mean value of the GS was 9.5(range 4-16).All INT samples had a GS above the average,distinct from the PB samples which had a GS score significantly below the average(P=0.0011).The INT samples were identified by high expression of CDX2 and CK20,whereas PB samples exhibited high expression of CK7 and no expression of CK20(P=0.0008).The INT group had a statistically significant higher overall survival than in the PB group(85.7 mo vs 20.3 mo,HR:8.39;95%CI:1.38 to 18.90;P=0.0152).CONCLUSION The combination of histopathological and molecular criteria enables the classification of AACs into two clinically relevant histo-molecular phenotypes,which appear to represent distinct disorders with potentially significant changes to the current therapeutic strategies. | Matteo Palmeri Niccola Funel Gregorio Di Franco Niccolo Furbetta Desiree Gianardi Simone Guadagni Matteo Bianchini Luca E Pollina Claudio Ricci Marco Del Chiaro Giulio Di Candio Luca Morelli | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,43: | 1 |
