| 1 | Livestock production and population census in Pakistan:Determining their relationship with agricultural GDP using econometric analysis显示文摘Livestock is a subsector of Pakistan agriculture which contributes approximately 56%of value addition in agriculture and nearly 11%to the gross domestic product(GDP).Livestock production makes a major contribution to agriculture value added services.In order to highlight the actual performance of livestock production and livestock and poultry products,the study explored the relationship between agricultural GDP and livestock product output,including milk,beef,mutton,poultry meat,eggs,wool,hair,skins,hides and bones,in Pakistan over the 35 year period from 1980 to 2015.Time series data were collected from the National Food Security and Research,the Economic Survey of Pakistan and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics(various publications).Livestock data were analysed using the ordinary least squares(OLS)method and the Augmented Dickey-Fuller(ADF)test,and the results were interpreted using the Johansen co-integration test.Our study found that the output of milk,fat,eggs,bones and mutton has a positive,significant relationship to the agricultural GDP of Pakistan,while the output of beef,poultry meat,wool,hair,skins and hides has a negative,insignificant relationship to the agricultural GDP of Pakistan.Therefore,the study suggests that the government of Pakistan initiates new funding schemes for the development of the livestock sector. | Abdul Rehman Luan Jingdong Abbas Ali Chandio Imran Hussain | 2017 | Information Processing in Agriculture2017,4,2: | 3 |
| 2 | Empirical Analysis of Software Success Rate Forecasting During Requirement Engineering Processes显示文摘Forecasting on success or failure of software has become an interesting and,in fact,an essential task in the software development industry.In order to explore the latest data on successes and failures,this research focused on certain questions such as is early phase of the software development life cycle better than later phases in predicting software success and avoiding high rework?What human factors contribute to success or failure of a software?What software practices are used by the industry practitioners to achieve high quality of software in their day-to-day work?In order to conduct this empirical analysis a total of 104 practitioners were recruited to determine how human factors,misinterpretation,and miscommunication of requirements and decision-making processes play their roles in software success forecasting.We discussed a potential relationship between forecasting of software success or failure and the development processes.We noticed that experienced participants had more confidence in their practices and responded to the questionnaire in this empirical study,and they were more likely to rate software success forecasting linking to the development processes.Our analysis also shows that cognitive bias is the central human factor that negatively affects forecasting of software success rate.The results of this empirical study also validated that requirements’misinterpretation and miscommunication were themain causes behind software systems’failure.It has been seen that reliable,relevant,and trustworthy sources of information help in decision-making to predict software systems’success in the software industry.This empirical study highlights a need for other software practitioners to avoid such bias while working on software projects.Future investigation can be performed to identify the other human factors that may impact software systems’success. | Muhammad Hasnain Imran Ghani Seung Ryul Jeong Muhammad Fermi Pasha Sardar Usman Anjum Abbas | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1: | 1 |
| 3 | Tailoring the optical and magnetic properties of La-BaM hexaferrites by Ni substitution显示文摘We investigate the impact of Ni insertion on the structural,optical,and magnetic properties of Ba_(0.8)La_(0.2)Fe_(12-x)Ni_(x)O_(19)hexaferrites(Ni substituted La-BaM hexaferrites).Samples were prepared using the conventional co-precipitation method and sintered at 1000℃for 4 hours to assist the crystallization process.An analysis of the structure of the samples was carried out using an x-ray diffraction(XRD)spectrometer.The M-type hexagonal structure of all the samples was confirmed using XRD spectra.The lattice parameters a and c were found to be in the ranges of 5.8925±0.001 nm–5.8952±0.001 nm and 23.2123±0.001 nm–23.2219±0.001 nm,respectively.The M-type hexagonal nature of the prepared samples was also indicated by the presence of corresponding FT-IR bands and Raman modes in the FT-IR and Raman spectra,respectively.EDX results confirmed the successful synthesis of the samples according to the required stoichiometric ratio.A UV-vis spectrometer was used to record the absorption spectra of the prepared samples in the wavelength range of 200 nm–1100 nm.The optical energy bandgap of the samples was found to be in the range of 1.21 eV–3.39 eV.The M–H loops of the samples were measured at room temperature at an applied magnetic field range of 0 kOe–60 kOe.A high saturation magnetization of 99.92 emu/g was recorded in the sample with x=0 at a microwave operating frequency of 22.2 GHz.This high value of saturation magnetization is due to the substitution of La3+ions at the spin-up(12k,2a,and 2b)sites.The Ni substitution is proven to be a potential candidate for the tuning of the optical and magnetic parameters of M-type hexaferrites.Therefore,we suggest that the prepared samples are suitable for use in magneto-optic applications. | Hafiz T.Ali MRamzan M Imran Arshad Nicola A.Morley M.Hassan Abbas Mohammad Yusuf Atta Ur Rehman Khalid Mahmood Adnan Ali Nasir Amin MAjaz-un-Nabi | 2022 | Chinese Physics B2022,31,2: | 1 |

| 12 | A Neuro-Fuzzy Approach to Road Traffic Congestion Prediction显示文摘The fast-paced growth of artificial intelligence applications provides unparalleled opportunities to improve the efficiency of various systems.Such as the transportation sector faces many obstacles following the implementation and integration of different vehicular and environmental aspects worldwide.Traffic congestion is among the major issues in this regard which demands serious attention due to the rapid growth in the number of vehicles on the road.To address this overwhelming problem,in this article,a cloudbased intelligent road traffic congestion prediction model is proposed that is empowered with a hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy approach.The aim of the study is to reduce the delay in the queues,the vehicles experience at different road junctions across the city.The proposed model also intended to help the automated traffic control systems by minimizing the congestion particularly in a smart city environment where observational data is obtained from various implanted Internet of Things(IoT)sensors across the road.After due preprocessing over the cloud server,the proposed approach makes use of this data by incorporating the neuro-fuzzy engine.Consequently,it possesses a high level of accuracy by means of intelligent decision making with minimum error rate.Simulation results reveal the accuracy of the proposed model as 98.72%during the validation phase in contrast to the highest accuracies achieved by state-of-the-art techniques in the literature such as 90.6%,95.84%,97.56%and 98.03%,respectively.As far as the training phase analysis is concerned,the proposed scheme exhibits 99.214% accuracy. | 18 | A comparison of financial and operational efficiency between smart and traditional insufflation for laparoscopic surgery: A granular analysis显示文摘Objective:Smart insufflation(SI)techniques relying on valve and membrane-free insufflation are increasing in usage.Although considerable literature exists demonstrating the benefits of SI on procedural ease and patient outcomes,there remains a paucity describing the financial impact of these devices.The purpose of this study was to determine the financial and efficiency impact of these devices on the operating room and inpatient wards of a hospital.Methods:A discrete event simulation model representing a typical mid-sized North American hospital comparing SI to traditional insufflation(TI)was generated.The National Surgical Quality Improvement database from 2015 to 2019 was used to populate the model with data supplemented from the literature.Outcomes included length of stay(LOS),duration of surgery(DOS),annual procedure volume,profit,return on investment(ROI),and gross profit margin(GPM).From the literature review,DOS savings were 10e32 minutes/case,while LOS savings were 0e3 days/case.Results:Implementation of an SI led to an increase in annual throughput of 42e346(4.4%e36.6%)cases for all procedures and 38 to 297(4.3%e33.3%)cases for complex procedures.LOS was found to be decreased by 175e614(18.3%e64.2%)days for all procedures and 231 to 614(35.6%e77.9%)cases for complex procedures with the implementation of an SI.Together,this resulted in an increase in net profit of$104,685 per annum.The ROI of SI over the TI device was>1000%,and the GPM for the TI was 90.0%,while the GPM for the SI was 71.7%.Conclusion:Despite the initial financial investment being greater,the implementation of SI offsets these expenses and yields significant financial benefits.Our study demonstrates the financial benefits of SI over TI and illustrates how granular operational and financial analyses of technologies are essential to aid in sound healthcare procurement decision making. | Aazad Abbas Imran Saleh Graeme Hoit Gurjovan Sahi Sam Park Jihad Abouali Cari Whyne Jay Toor | 2023 | Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2023,6,3: | 0 |
