Prevalence of non-Helicobacter pylori duodenal ulcer in Karachi,Pakistan显示文摘AIM: To determine the prevalence of non-Helicobacter pylori (H pylori)-related duodenal ulcer in patients with acid-peptic diseases.METHODS: Medical records of patients who attended the Gastroenterology Department at Aga Khan University Hospital from 1999 to 2001 and had endoscopic diagnosis of duodenal ulcers were reviewed. Duodenal ulcer associated with H pylori was diagnosed on the basis of endoscopy, rapid urease test and histopathology whereas histories of aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) related duodenal ulcers. Non-H pylori, non-NSAID duodenal ulcers were those without H pylori infection and history of NSAID intake. Co-morbid conditions associated were noted.RESULTS: Of 2 260 patients, 10% (217/2 260) had duodenal ulcer. Duodenal ulcer related to H pylori infectionaccounted for 53% (116/217), NSAID-related 10% (22/217),non-H pylori non-NSAID 29% (62/217), and 8% (17/217) had both Hpyloriinfection and histories of NSAID intake. Fifteen percent (18/116)_patients had past histories of peptic ulcer disease in Hpyloriinfection, while 8% (5/62) in non-Hpylorinon-NSAID ulcer. Co-morbid conditions in H pylori infection were seen in 23% (27/116) and 34%(21/62) in non-H pylori non-NSAID ulcer.CONCLUSION: Incidence of H pylori infection related with duodenal ulcer is common. In the presence of co-morbids, non-Hpyloriand non-NSAID duodenal ulcer is likely to be present. | Javed Yakoob Wasim Jafri Nadim Jafri Muhammad Islam Shahab Abid Saeed Hamid Hasnain AliShah Hizbullah Shaikh | 2005 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,23: | 6

Induced Polyploidy as a Tool for Increasing Tea(Camellia sinensis L.) Production显示文摘Tea(Camellia sinensis L.) represents different ploidy levels. In the present paper, we reviewed the recent data on the diploid, aneuploid and polyploid formed their origin and chemically induced polyploidy and predicted it role in teagenetic improvement for better yield. Different polidy levels had different effects on tea physiology. Tetraploid and triploid had more vigour and hardness due to increased size of cells, while triploid could have even more vigours due to increased size of cells and sterilities. Chemically induced polyploidy had been found an important tool for improving plant physiology and production, therefore, induced polyploids should be produced to overcome the problem of low yield and limited rainfall in tea growing areas. | Hasnain Alam Muhammad Razaq Salahuddin | 2015 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2015,22,3: | 1

Plant Nitrogen Metabolism: Balancing Resilience to Nutritional Stress andAbiotic Challenges显示文摘Plant growth and resilience to abiotic stresses, such as soil salinity and drought, depend intricately on nitrogen metabolism. This review explores nitrogen’s regulatory role in plant responses to these challenges, unveiling a dynamic interplay between nitrogen availability and abiotic stress. In the context of soil salinity,a nuanced rela-tionship emerges, featuring both antagonistic and synergistic interactions between salinity and nitrogen levels.Salinity-induced chlorophyll depletion in plants can be alleviated by optimal nitrogen supplementation;however, excessive nitrogen can exacerbate salinity stress. We delve into the complexities of this interaction and its agri-cultural implications.Nitrogen,a vital element within essential plant structures like chloroplasts, elicits diverse responses based on its availability. This review comprehensively examines manifestations of nitrogen deficiency and toxicity across various crop types, including cereals, vegetables, legumes, and fruits.Furthermore,we explore the broader consequences of nitrogen products, such as N_(2)O,NO_(2),and ammonia,on human health.Understand-ing the intricate relationship between nitrogen and salinity, especially chloride accumulation in nitrate-fed plants and sodium buildup in ammonium-fed plants,is pivotal for optimizing crop nitrogen management. However, prudent nitrogen use is essential,as overapplication can exacerbate nitrogen-related issues.Nitrogen Use Effi-ciency(NUE)is of paramount importance in addressing salinity challenges and enhancing sustainable crop productivity.Achieving this goal requires advancements in crop varieties with efficient nitrogen utilization,pre-cise timing and placement of nitrogen fertilizer application, and thoughtful nitrogen source selection to mitigate losses, particularly urea-based fertilizer volatilization. This review article delves into the multifaceted world of plant nitrogen metabolism and its pivotal role in enabling plant resilience to nutritional stress and abiotic challenges. It offers insights into future directions for sustainable agriculture. | Muhammad Farhan Manda Sathish Rafia Kiran Aroosa Mushtaq Alaa Baazeem Ammarah Hasnain Fahad Hakim Syed Atif Hasan Naqvi Mustansar Mubeen Yasir Iftikhar Aqleem Abbas Muhammad Zeeshan Hassan Mahmoud Moustafa | 2024 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2024,93,3: | 0
A Computational Analysis to Burgers Huxley Equation显示文摘The efficiency of solving computationally partial differential equations can be profoundly highlighted by the creation of precise,higher-order compact numerical scheme that results in truly outstanding accuracy at a given cost. The objective of this article is to develop a highly accurate novel algorithm for two dimensional non-linear Burgers Huxley(BH)equations. The proposed compact numerical scheme is found to be free of superiors approximate oscillations across discontinuities, and in a smooth ow region,it efciently obtained a high-order accuracy. In particular, two classes of higherorder compact nite difference schemes are taken into account and compared based on their computational economy. The stability and accuracy show that the schemes are unconditionally stable and accurate up to a two-order in time and to six-order in space. Moreover, algorithms and data tables illustrate the scheme efciency and decisiveness for solving such non-linear coupled system.Efciency is scaled in terms of L_(2) and L_(∞) norms, which validate the approximated results with the corresponding analytical solution. The investigation of the stability requirements of the implicit method applied in the algorithm was carried out.Reasonable agreement was constructed under indistinguishable computational conditions. The proposed methods can be implemented for real-world problems, originating in engineering and science. | Muhammad Saqib Muhammad Shoaib Arif Shahid Hasnain Daoud S.Mashat | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,5: | 0
COLONIZATION OF VIGNA RADIATA ROOTS BY CHROMIUM RESISTANT BACTERIAL STRAINS OF OCHROBACTRUM INTERMEDIUM,BACILLUS CEREUS AND BREVIBACTERIUM SP.显示文摘The present study deals with colonization potential of plant growth promoting bacterial strains (Ochrobactrum intermedium, Bacillus cereus and Brevibacterium sp.) on Vigna radiata roots. The roots were heavily colonized with O. intermedium and B. cereus as compared to Brevibacterium sp. O. intermedium mainly colonized rhizoplane while B. cereus occurred both on the rhizoplane and near root zone. O. intermedium and B. cereus were found to be present both on the rhizoplane and near root zone, while Brevibacterium only in the rhizosphere in the form of groups. The cells of B. cereus were found more in the sites where root exudates were existed. From the above results it was observed that the number of O. intermedium cells were large at root exudate site. | 13 | 2D seismic interpretation of Sawan gas field integrated with petrophysical analysis:A case study from Lower Indus Basin,Pakistan显示文摘The Lower Indus Basin is the leading hydrocarbon-bearing sedimentary basin in Pakistan. This study has been conducted on the Sawan gas field located in the Lower Indus Basin, adjacent to a few other wellknown gas fields of Pakistan like Kadanwari,Qadirpur, and Miano gas fields. This research aims to present the spatial distribution and reservoir potential of the productive zones of the Lower Goru Formation. The present study utilized various two-dimensional(2D)seismic lines and well-log data(Sawan-01 and Sawan-02)to investigate the structural and stratigraphic features of the area. The stratigraphic layers are mildly deepening in the southeast direction. The 2D seismic interpretation of the research area identifies the existence of extensional remanents,i.e.,normal faults. These extensional structures are associated with horst and graben geometry that acts as a trapping mechanism for hydrocarbons.Wireline logs are used to identify the reservoir's diverse lithology and petrophysical properties.Petrophysical results indicate fair to good effective porosities, low shale volume, and high hydrocarbon saturation(>55%),signifying good reservoir potential in C interval of the Lower Goru Formation. | Abd Ur Rehman Khan Muhammad Amar Gul Rizwan Sarwar Awan Ashar Khan Khawaja Hasnain Iltaf Sibt.E Hassan Butt | 2023 | Energy Geoscience2023,4,2: | 0
Analysis of LDPC Code in Hybrid Communication Systems显示文摘Free-space optical(FSO)communication is of supreme importance for designing next-generation networks.Over the past decades, the radio frequency(RF)spectrum has been the main topic of interest for wireless technology. The RF spectrum is becoming denser and more employed, making its availability tough for additional channels.Optical communication, exploited for messages or indications in historical times,is now becoming famous and useful in combination with error-correcting codes(ECC)to mitigate the effects of fading caused by atmospheric turbulence.A free-space communication system(FSCS)in which the hybrid technology is based on FSO and RF.FSCS is a capable solution to overcome the downsides of current schemes and enhance the overall link reliability and availability. The proposed FSCS with regular low-density parity-check(LDPC)for coding techniques is deliberated and evaluated in terms of signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)in this paper. The extrinsic information transfer(EXIT)methodology is an incredible technique employed to investigate the sum-product decoding algorithm of LDPC codes and optimize the EXIT chart by applying curve fitting. In this research work,we also analyze the behavior of the EXIT chart of regular/irregular LDPC for the FSCS.We also investigate the error performance of LDPC code for the proposed FSCS. | Hasnain Kashif Muhammad Nasir Khan Zubair Nawaz | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1: | 0
Geochemical Characterization of Organic Rich Black Rocks of the Niutitang Formation to Reconstruct the Paleoenvironmental Settings during Early Cambrian Period from Xiangxi Area,Western Hunan,China显示文摘The Niutitang Formation in the South China Block might be a source of hydrocarbon as it contains an enormous quantity of organic matter.Black rock of the Early Cambrian Niutitang Formation is widely distributed in the Yangtze region, but detailed geochemical understanding of it is still emerging. This research discusses the detailed geochemical characteristics of the Niutitang Formation to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental conditions, employing total organic carbon(TOC)content, major, trace, and rare earth element data. For this purpose, black rock specimens of the Niutitang Formation from two outcrop sections were utilized for geochemical characterization, and the results compared with another eight sections from the South China Block. The average total organic carbon in these sediments is significantly higher(5.80 wt.%).In the platform region, lower quantities of TOC indicate a poor potential to produce hydrocarbons. At the same time, significantly higher TOC is observed in the deep shelf and slope sediments, indicating a significant potential to produce hydrocarbons. The average Ce,Eu and Y anomalies from both Longbizui and Sancha sections studied are 0.74,0.86,1.77,1.07,and 1.19,1.30,respectively.The chemical index of alteration(CAI)throughout the Yangtze block is higher(averaging 71.32)than that of Post Archean Australian Shale(PAAS 69),indicating a moderately weathered source of the Niutitang Formation relative to PAAS.As the sediments are moderately weathered, this suggests these rocks might have been derived from felsic rocks, mainly granite-granodiorite.The normalization of REEs in the black rocks reveals a reduction of light REEs with increase in heavy REEs enrichment.Similarly,a positive Eu anomaly, negative Ce anomaly, and a moderate Y/Ho(34.61)are clues to a hybrid depositional mechanism associated with hydrothermal action and terrigenous input. These anomalies are also evidence of upwelling in the paleo-ocean and mixing of organic matter, which created anoxic bottom water during the deposition of the Niutitang Formation in the basin and upper oxic water conditions before deposition. The main controlling factors for the distribution of rare earth elements in these black rocks of the Niutitang Formation are pH,terrigenous input, source rock composition, tectonism,an upwelling mechanism, and hydrothermal activity. | Rizwan Sarwar Awan Chenglin Liu Ashar Khan Khawaja Hasnain Iltaf Qibiao Zang Yuping Wu Sajjad Ali Muhammad Amar Gul | 2023 | Journal of Earth Science2023,34,6: | 0
