1Clinical characteristics and effectiveness of antiviral agents in hospitalized children with infectious mononucleosis in China:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Importance:The clinical characteristics of infectious mononucleosis(IM)in Chinese children have not been evaluated in multicenter studies,and the effectiveness of antiviral treatment are controversial.Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of Chinese children with IM and current status of antiviral therapy for affected patients.Methods:Hospitalized patients with IM were enrolled between 2018 and 2020 in five children’s hospitals in China.The clinical characteristics were compared among four age groups:<3 years,3-<6 years,6-<10 years,and≥10 years.The clinical characteristics of IM and effectiveness of antiviral therapy were compared among patients receiving acyclovir(ACV),ganciclovir(GCV),and no antiviral therapy(i.e.,non-antiviral group).Results:In total,499 patients were analyzed;most patients were 3-<6 years of age.The most common symptoms and signs included fever(100%),lymphadenopathy(98.6%),pharyngitis(86.4%),eyelid edema(76.8%),and snoring(72.9%).There were significant differences in rash,hepatomegaly,and liver dysfunction among the four age groups.Patients aged<3 years had a lower incidence of liver dysfunction and a higher incidence of rash.Among the 499 patients,50.1%were treated with GCV,26.3%were treated with ACV,and 23.6%received no antiviral therapy.Compared with the non-antiviral group,patients in the ACV and GCV groups had longer durations of fever(P<0.001).There were no significant differences in the incidences of complications among the three treatment groups.Interpretation:The incidence of IM in Chinese children peaked at 3-<6 years of age.Clinical features of IM varied according to age.Patients receiving antiviral therapy exhibited more serious clinical manifestations than did patients without antiviral therapy.The effectiveness of antiviral therapy for IM requires further analysis.Huili Hu Huiling Deng Jing Bi Yi Xu Shuangjie Li Yue Xie Xinrong Sun Dongmeng Wang Xufang Li Wenxian Ouyang Bing Hu Yufeng Zhang He Tang Chunxiao Fang Hui Zhang Lingyun Guo Chen Wang Tianyi Wang Fengxia Yang Tao Jiang Zhengde Xie Gang Liu 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,3:12
2A detachable coating of cholesterol-anchored PEG improves tumor targeting of cell-penetrating peptide-modified liposomes显示文摘Cell-penetrating peptides(CPPs)have been widely used to enhance the membrane transloca-tion of various carriers for many years,but the non-specificity of CPPs seriously limits their utility in vivo.In this study,cholesterol-anchored,reduction-sensitive PEG(first synthesized by our laboratory)was applied to develop a co-modified liposome with improved tumor targeting.Following optimization of the formulation,the in vitro and in vivo properties of the co-modified liposome were evaluated.The co-modified liposome had a much lower cellular uptake and tumor spheroid uptake,but a much higher tumor accumulation compared to CPP-modified liposome,indicating the non-specific penetration of CPPs could be attenuated by the outer PEG coating.With the addition of exogenous reducing agent,both the in vitro and in vivo cellular uptake was markedly increased,demonstrating that the reduction-sensitive PEG coating achieved a controllable detachment from the surface of liposomes and did not affect the penetrating abilities of CPPs.The present results demonstrate that the combination of cholestervsitive PEG and CPPs is an ideal alternative for the application of CPP-modified carriers in vivo.Jie Tang Li Zhang Han Fu Qifang Kuang Huile Gao Zhirong Zhang Qin Hen 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,1:3
3A novel sprayable thermosensitive hydrogel coupled with zinc modified metformin promotes the healing of skin wound显示文摘A novel sprayable adhesive is established(ZnMet-PF127)by the combination of a thermosensitive hydrogel(Pluronic F127,PF127)and a coordination complex of zinc and metformin(ZnMet).Here we demonstrate that ZnMet-PF127 potently promotes the healing of traumatic skin defect and burn skin injury by promoting cell proliferation,angiogenesis,collagen formation.Furthermore,we find that ZnMet could inhibit reactive oxygen species(ROS)production through activation of autophagy,thereby protecting cell from oxidative stress induced damage and promoting healing of skin wound.ZnMet complex exerts better effects on promoting skin wound healing than ZnCl2 or metformin alone.ZnMet complex also displays excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli,which could reduce the incidence of skin wound infections.Collectively,we demonstrate that sprayable PF127 could be used as a new drug delivery system for treatment of skin injury.The advantages of this sprayable system are obvious:(1)It is convenient to use;(2)The hydrogel can cover irregular skin defect sites evenly in a liquid state.In combination with this system,we establish a novel sprayable adhesive(ZnMet-PF127)and demonstrate that it is a potential clinical treatment for traumatic skin defect and burn skin injury.Zhengwei Liu Wanze Tang Jiayi Liu Yingying Han Qinnan Yan Yuechao Dong Xiaomei Liu Dazhi Yang Guixing Ma Huiling Cao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:3

5Combustion synthesis of mesoporous CoAl_(2)O_(4)for peroxymonosulfate activation to degrade organic pollutants显示文摘A mesoporous cobalt aluminate(CoAl_(2)O_(4))spinel is synthesized through a combustion method and adopted for the activation of peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to degrade organic pollutants.Multiple characterization procedures are conducted to investigate the morphology and physicochemical properties of the CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel.Due to its mesoporous structure,large surface area,and high electrical conductivity,the obtained CoAl_(2)O_(4)exhibits remarkable catalytic activity for Rhodamine B(RhB)degradation.Its RhB degradation rate is 89.0 and 10.5 times greater than those of Co_(3)O_(4) and CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel prepared by a precipitation method,respectively.Moreover,the mesoporous CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel demonstrates a broad operating pH range and excellent recyclability.The influence of several parameters(catalyst amount,PMS concentration,initial p H,and coexisting inorganic anions)on the oxidation of RhB is evaluated.Through quenching tests and electron paramagnetic resonance experiments,sulfate radicals are identified as the predominant reactive species in RhB degradation.This paper provides new insights for the development of efficient,stable,and reusable cobalt-based heterogeneous catalysts and promotes the application of persulfate activation technology for the treatment of refractory organic wastewater.Sheng Guo Huiling Tang Liming You Huali Zhang Jun Li Kun Zhou 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,9:1
6The Chinese herbal formula Tongluo Jiunao promotes expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor/tropomyosin-related kinase B pathways in a rat model of ischemic brain injury显示文摘The neurotrophin-Trk receptor pathway is an intrinsic pathway to relieve damage to the central nervous system. The present study observed the effects of Tongluo Jiunao (TLJN), which comprises Panax Notoginseng and Gardenia Jasminoides, on expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB) in a rat model of focal cerebral ischemic injury. Xue Sai Tong (XST), comprising Panax Notoginseng, served as the positive control. Mechanisms of neuroprotection were analyzed following TLJN injection. Following establishment of the middle cerebral artery occlusion models, TLJN and XST were intraperitoneally injected, and 2, 3, 5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining results revealed that TLJN injection reduced infarct volume, suggesting that TLJN exerted a neuroprotective effect. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay results showed that TLJN elevated BDNF and growth associated protein-43 expression in ischemic brain tissues, as well as serum BDNF levels. Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction and western blot results showed that TLJN injection did not affect TrkB expression in the ischemic brain tissues of rats. These results suggested that TLJN injection reduced damage to ischemic brain tissues and increased BDNF expression. 7Comparison of Aerosol Effects on Simulated Spring and Summer Hailstorm Clouds显示文摘Numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the effect of cloud condensation nuclei(CCN) concentrations on microphysical processes and precipitation characteristics of hailstorms. Two hailstorm cases are simulated, a spring case and a summer case, in a semiarid region of northern China, with the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System. The results are used to investigate the differences and similarities of the CCN effects between spring and summer hailstorms. The similarities are:(1) The total hydrometeor mixing ratio decreases, while the total ice-phase mixing ratio enhances, with increasing CCN concentration;(2) Enhancement of the CCN concentration results in the production of a greater amount of small-sized hydrometeor particles, but a lessening of large-sized hydrometeor particles;(3) As the CCN concentration increases, the supercooled cloud water and rainwater make a lesser contribution to hail, while the ice-phase hydrometeors take on active roles in the growth of hail;(4) When the CCN concentration increases, the amount of total precipitation lessens,while the role played by liquid-phase rainfall in the amount of total precipitation reduces, relatively, compared to that of icephase precipitation. 8Recent advances in solar-driven CO_(2) reduction over g-C_(3)N_(4)-based photocatalysts显示文摘The persistent increase of CO_(2) levels in the atmosphere,already exceeding 400 ppm,urges the exploration of CO_(2) emission reduction and recycling technologies.Ideally,photocatalytic conversion of CO_(2) into valuable hydrocarbons realizes solar-to-chemical energy conversion,which is a desirable“kill two birds with one stone”strategy;namely,CO_(2) photoreduction can simultaneously tackle energy shortage and keep global carbon balance.Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))working on CO_(2) reduction reaction deserves a highlight not only for the metal-free feature that endows it with low cost,tunable electronic structure,and easy fabrication properties but also because of its strong reduction ability.The present review concisely summarizes the latest advances of g-C_(3)N_(4)-based photocatalysts toward CO_(2) reduction.It starts with the discussion of thermodynamics and dynamics aspects of the CO_(2) reduction process.Then the modification strategies to promote g-C_(3)N_(4)-based photocatalysts in CO_(2) photoreduction have been discussed in detail,including surface functionalization,molecule structure engineering,crystallization,morphology engineering,loading cocatalyst,and constructing heterojunction.Meanwhile,the intrinsic factors affecting CO_(2) reduction activity and selectivity are analyzed and summarized.In the end,the challenges and prospects for the future development of highly g-C_(3)N_(4)-based photocatalysts in CO_(2) reduction are also presented.Quanlong Xu Zhihua Xia Jingmei Zhang Zhiyi Wei Qin Guo Huile Jin Hua Tang Shouzhu Li Xuecong Pan Zhi Su Shun Wang 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,2:1

10Resilience Building and Collaborative Governance for Climate Change Adaptation in Response to a New State of More Frequent and Intense Extreme Weather Events显示文摘The weather conditions of the summer of 2022 were very unusual,particularly in Eastern Asia,Europe,and North America.The devasting impact of climate change has come to our attention,with much hotter and drier conditions,and with more frequent and intense flooding events.Some extreme events have reached a dangerous level,increasingly threatening human lives.The interconnected risks caused by these extreme disaster events are triggering a chain effect,forcing us to respond to these crises through changes in our living environment,which affect the atmosphere,the biosphere,the economy including the availability of energy,our cities,and our global society.Moreover,we have to confront the abnormal consequences of untypical,rapid changes of extreme events and fast switches between extreme states,such as from severe drought to devastating flooding.Recognizing this new situation,it is crucial to improve the adaptation capacity of our societies in order to reduce the risks associated with climate change,and to develop smarter strategies for climate governance.High-quality development must be science-based,balanced,safe,sustainable,and climate-resilient,supported by the collaborative governance of climate mitigation and adaptation.This article provides some recommendations and suggestions for resilience building and collaborative governance with respect to climate adaptation in response to a new planetary state that is characterized by more frequent and severe extreme weather events.Huiling Ouyang Xu Tang Renhe Zhang Alexander Baklanov Guy Brasseur Rajesh Kumar Qunli Han Yong Luo 2023International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2023,14,1:0

12Targeting Kindlin-2 in adipocytes increases bone mass through inhibiting FAS/PPARγ/FABP4 signaling in mice显示文摘Osteoporosis(OP)is a systemic skeletal disease that primarily affects the elderly population,which greatly increases the risk of fractures.Here we report that Kindlin-2 expression in adipose tissue increases during aging and high-fat diet fed and is accompanied by decreased bone mass.Kindlin-2 specific deletion(K2KO)controlled by Adipoq-Cre mice or adipose tissue-targeting AAV(AAV-Rec2-CasRx-sgK2)significantly increases bone mass.Mechanistically,Kindlin-2 promotes peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPARγ)activation and downstream fatty acid binding protein 4(FABP4)expression through stabilizing fatty acid synthase(FAS),and increased FABP4 inhibits insulin expression and decreases bone mass.Kindlin-2 inhibition results in accelerated FAS degradation,decreased PPARγactivation and FABP4 expression,and therefore increased insulin expression and bone mass.Interestingly,we find that FABP4 is increased while insulin is decreased in serum of OP patients.Increased FABP4 expression through PPARγactivation by rosiglitazone reverses the high bone mass phenotype of K2KO mice.Inhibition of FAS by C75 phenocopies the high bone mass phenotype of K2KO mice.Collectively,our study establishes a novel Kindlin-2/FAS/PPARγ/FABP4/insulin axis in adipose tissue modulating bone mass and strongly indicates that FAS and Kindlin-2 are new potential targets and C75 or AAV-Rec2-CasRx-sgK2 treatment are potential strategies for OP treatment.Wanze Tang Zhen Ding Huanqing Gao Qinnan Yan Jingping Liu Yingying Han Xiaoting Hou Zhengwei Liu Litong Chen Dazhi Yang Guixing Ma Huiling Cao 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,11:0
13Comprehensive Assessment of the Safety of Eucommia ulmoides Leaf Extract for Consumption as a Traditional Chinese Health Food显示文摘To ensure the export quality of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract(ELE)and facilitate E.ulmoides leaf inclusion in the directory of traditional Chinese health foods,an overall safety assessment of ELE was performed,including genotoxicity and long-term toxicity,according to the national food safety standards of China.No variations in the reverse mutation number of the nominal bacterial strains were observed under ELE treatment in comparison with the solvent control.Additionally,the micronucleus rates of in vivo mammalian erythrocytes and in vitro mammalian cells under ELE treatment were equivalent to or significantly lower than those of the solvent control.The fold change in the trifluorothymidine resistance mutation frequency of the thymidine kinase gene under ELE treatment was less than three times in comparison with the solvent control,suggesting that ELE did not cause genotoxicity.Moreover,animal experiments showed that the growth performance of rats under ELE treatment was enhanced because the body weights of rats increased.No oxidative injury or inflammatory responses were induced and no histopathological lesions of tissues were detected under ELE treatment.In addition,plasma triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels significantly decreased,and plasma high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels significantly increased with ELE treatment,suggesting that ELE was health-promoting.Furthermore,moderate to excellent antimicrobial activities,a favorable anticancer capacity,and superior antioxidant abilities of ELE were found,implying ELE possesses good bioactivities.Therefore,we affirmed ELE is safe to consume as a traditional Chinese health food.Huiling Fu Mijun Peng Qiuwen Tang Haojun Liang Yanli Liang Jiali Fang Xuesong Wang 2023Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,7:0
14Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND The profiles of hydrodynamic and thermodynamic patterns in a three-dimensional combustor model are obtained by solving the governing differential transport equations. The well-established numerical prediction algorithm SIMPLE, the modified k-ε turbulence model and k-ε-g turbulent diffusion flame model have been adopted in computations. The β function has been selected as probability density function. The effect of combustion process on flow patterns has been investigated. The calculated results have been verified by experiments. 17Waterborne sub-lethal exposure to perfluorobutanesulfonate causes intestinal dysbiosis in tadpoles of Lithobates catesbeianus显示文摘Perfluorobutanesulfonate (PFBS) is a ubiquitous pollutant in the aquatic environment, but its toxic effects andmechanisms on amphibian species remain largely unknown. In the present study, tadpoles (Lithobates catesbeianus) were exposed to various concentrations of PFBS (0, 1, 3, 10, and 30 μg/L) for 14 days, with the goal ofunveiling the impairment of intestinal health. Histopathological examination showed that sub-lethal exposure oftadpoles to PFBS at concentrations as low as 3 μg/L could result in the injury of intestinal structures. In a clearconcentration-dependent manner, the expressions of epithelial barrier components (i.e., Claudin 1 gene and tightjunction protein 2) were significantly decreased in PFBS-exposed intestines, while the intestinal content oflipopolysaccharide (LPS) and transcriptions of downstream responsive genes (e.g., TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB) wereconcurrently significantly increased by exposure to 3, 10, and 30 μg/L of PFBS. As a consequence, the number ofeosinophils and expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-1β and TNF-α) were increased therein.Furthermore, PFBS exposure induced oxidative stress in intestinal tissues by increasing the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppressing antioxidant capacity. The transcriptional levels of CytoC and Bax genes aswell as activities of caspase 9 and caspase 3 enzymes were remarkably increased, while the transcript abundanceof Bcl-2 was down-regulated significantly after PFBS exposure, thereby favoring apoptosis in tadpole intestines.PFBS sub-lethal exposure also drove the composition of intestinal microbiota to a dysbiosis status. Correlationanalysis further revealed that the relative abundance of members of the genus Bosea was positively related withthe contents of LPS and IL-1β. According to the relevant technical methods and standards, water pollution factors are screened, and concentration and discharge are monitored.
