1Therapeutic Potentials of Oroxylum indicum Bark Extracts显示文摘AIM:Diverse therapeutic potentials of methanolic and aqueous extracts of Oroxylum indicum(L.)Vent.bark,includ- ing antioxidant property,cytotoxicity and protection against oxidative DNA damage were investigated in this study.METHODS:Total phenolics in the extracts were determined by spectrophotometric method.Ferric reducing antioxidant property(FRAP),free radical (DPPH·and ·OH)scavenging activities,as well as inhibitory effect on lipid peroxidation have been investigated.Cytotoxicity of the extracts was investigated by XTT assay in MDA-MB-435S and Hep3B cell lines.Protection of DNA by the extracts against oxidative damage by UV-photolysis of H2O2 was studied.RESULTS:Total phenolic content and inhibition of lipid peroxidation in both extracts were found to be dosage-dependent.Moreover,both extracts exhibited considerable free radical scavenging and ferric reducing abili- ties.The extracts demonstrated extensive cytotoxicity in both tested cell lines,with the methanolic extract showing greater cytotoxic potential.Both extracts exhibited moderate levels of DNA protection against oxidative stress.Total phenolic content was noted to have significant positive correlations with free radical scavenging and reducing power,as well as lipid peroxidation inhibition(P<0.05). 2The plant N-degron pathways of ubiquitinmediated proteolysis显示文摘The amino-terminal residue of a protein(or amino-terminus of a peptide following protease cleavage)can be an important determinant of its stability,through the Ubiquitin Proteasome System associated N-degron pathways.Plants contain a unique combination of N-degron pathways(previously called the N-end rule pathways)E3 ligases,PROTEOLYSIS(PRT)6 and PRT1,recognizing non-overlapping sets of amino-terminal residues,and others remain to be identified.Although only very few substrates of PRT1 or PRT6 have been identified,substrates of the oxygen and nitric oxide sensing branch of the PRT6 N-degron pathway include key nuclear-located transcription factors(ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR VIIs and LITTLE ZIPPER 2)and the histone-modifying Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 component VERNALIZATION 2.In response to reduced oxygen or nitric oxide levels(and other mechanisms that reduce pathway activity)these stabilized substrates regulate diverse aspects of growth and development,including response to flooding,salinity,vernalization(cold-induced flowering)and shoot apical meristem function.The N-degron pathways show great promise for use in the improvement of crop performance and for biotechnological applications.Upstream proteases,components of the different pathways and associated substrates still remain to be identified and characterized to fully appreciate how regulation of protein stability through the amino-terminal residue impacts plant biology.Michael John Holdsworth Jorge Vicente Gunjan Sharma Mohamad Abbas Agata Zubrycka 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,1:4

4The ApMat marker can resolve Colletotrichum species: a case study with Mangifera indica显示文摘Anthracnose disease caused by the Colletotrichum gloeosporioides species complex is a major problem worldwide.In this study,we investigated the phylogenetic diversity of 207 Indian Colletotrichum isolates,associated with symptomatic and asymptomatic tissues of mango,belonging to this species complex.Phylogenetic analyses were performed based on a 6-gene dataset(act,cal,chs1,gapdh,ITS and tub2),followed by ApMat sequence-analysis.The ApMat-based phylogeny was found to be superior as it provided finer resolution in most of the species-level clades.Importantly,the ApMat marker identified seven lineages within C.siamense sensu lato,including C.jasmini-sambac,C.hymenocallidis,C.melanocaulon,C.siamense sensu stricto and three undesignated,potentially novel lineages.In this study,C.fragariae sensu stricto,C.fructicola,C.jasmini-sambac,C.melanocaulon and five undesignated,potentially novel lineages were found to be associated with mango tissues.There is a need to develop a consensus among mycologists as to which genes should be used to define and delimit a Colletotrichum species and in the mean time mycologists should voluntarily restrain from describing new species based on inadequate datasets.Gunjan Sharma Navinder Kumar Bevan S.Weir Kevin D.Hyde Belle Damodara Shenoy 2013Fungal Diversity2013,,4:3

11Small bowel bleeding:a comprehensive review显示文摘The small intestine is an uncommon site of gastro-intestinal(GI)bleeding;however it is the commonest cause of obscure GI bleeding.It may require multiple blood transfusions,diagnostic procedures and repeated hospitalizations.Angiodysplasia is the commonest cause of obscure GI bleeding,particularly in the elderly.Inflammatory lesions and tumours are the usual causes of small intestinal bleeding in younger patients.Capsule endoscopy and deep enteroscopy have improved our ability to investigate small bowel bleeds.Deep enteroscopy has also an added advantage of therapeutic potential.Computed tomography is helpful in identifying extra-intestinal lesions.In cases of difficult diagnosis,surgery and intra-operative enteroscopy can help with diagnosis and management.The treatment is dependent upon the aetiology of the bleed.An overt bleed requires aggressive resuscitation and immediate localisation of the lesion for institution of appropriate therapy.Small bowel bleeding can be managed by conservative,radiological,pharmacological,endoscopic and surgical methods,depending upon indications,expertise and availability.Some patients,especially those with multiple vascular lesions,can re-bleed even after appropriate treatment and pose difficult challenge to the treating physician.Deepak Gunjan Vishal Sharma Surinder S Rana Deepak K Bhasin 2014Gastroenterology Report2014,2,4:1
